La casa preciosa, el personal muy amable y el desayuno increíble!!! Al lado hay una pizzería increíble.

Diría que el único pero es que al quedar relativamente cerca del aeropuerto se escuchan los aviones despegar o aterrizar. Pero el resto súper bien.

Das Frühstück und die Lage waren einzigartig und haben alle meine Erwartungen übertroffen. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist unschlagbar. Die beste Unterkunft, in der ich seit Jahren übernachtet habe!

Abbiamo apprezzato la vista incantevole sulla baia, la colazione varia e curata, la stanza confortevole e pulita.

Non è un fattore negativo, ma è da tenere presente che mentre si scende facilmente a piedi verso i quartieri Lapa e Centro, il rientro risulta più faticoso perché la struttura è in zona collinare. Non abbiamo avuto problemi a spostarci con Uber. E' utile sapere che non essendo un albergo lo staff è presente solo in limitate fasce orarie.

Fica em uma casa antiga, decoração maravilhosa tudo muito bem cuidado. Jardim lindo e vista perfeita. Quarto confortável, café da manhã delicioso.

Só uma observação, o local tem bastante escadas, para mim não foi problema mas fica a dica para outros hóspedes.

Not much at all...

We loved our last night in Rio staying here. It was perfect. The view was amazing, the manager and staff were lovely. Huge comfortable rooms and the breakfast buffet was delicious. Highly recommend!

Le charme et l’ambiance de la maison art deco. Le petit déjeuner excellent et l’accueil très chaleureux.

La vue sur la baie de Rio, le petit déjeuner copieux et délicieux, les chambres avec un petit balcon. Nous n’avons pas pu en profiter à cause de la pluie mais il y a un espace piscine et jardin très agréable. L’équipe du staff est très agréable.

La colazione con vista è stata una delle nostre cose preferite a Rio e il cibo era davvero ottimo e varia. Il personale è molto gentile. La struttura è decorata con gusto e molto pulita. Avevamo la camera con bagno condiviso che veniva pulito due volte al giorno.

Il supplemento per il check in dopo le 21 ci è sembrato un pò alto e anche la piscina era a pagamento (teli e doccia).

The location of the hotel is amazing. It overlooks the Rio shorelines on a steep hillside. I loved my room as it had great views. The staff were all accommodative. I had such an amazing chat with the owner where we shared knowledge and words of wisdom. I was so impressed by the how she was able harbour love into a place. You can see it through the decor and central rooms. They also recycle gin bottles as water bottles showing how eco friendly they are as an establishment. The place feels homey and creates an intimate atmosphere for guests. I fell in love with this place and how they go beyond to make people feel welcomed. Many of the admin staff speak English including the owner and her sons. But this for me is just an extra because even the staff that can’t speak English welcome you and treat you with the greatest respect, kindness and hospitality.

They are upfront but if you have an issue with sharing the washroom please do reconsider booking. I did not have any issues as they always made sure the restrooms were clean. Moreover there was always an alternative restroom to use. I also didn’t mind the stairs but some people might. I loved everything.

Beautifully maintained, historic villa in the hills above Rio. Extensive breakfast buffet in a beautiful solarium. The pool and gardens are very refreshing after a long, hot day in the city.

Everything here was absolutely perfect: unbelievable! The people were incredibly friendly, the view was truly AMAZING, the breakfast was delicious, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was spotless. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We honestly can't think of anything more you could possibly ask for! :-)

Une table d'hôte serait un plus

Nous avons passé un séjour exceptionnel. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié l’esprit familial et chaleureux de la guesthouse, qui nous a immédiatement fait sentir comme chez nous. La vue est magnifique, la décoration est soignée et pleine de charme, jusque dans les moindres détails, notamment la très jolie vaisselle. Notre chambre était magnifique , élégamment décorée et d’une propreté irréprochable. Un grand merci également à tout le personnel pour sa gentillesse, sa disponibilité et son accueil attentionné tout au long du séjour. Le petit déjeuner était l’un des meilleurs de notre tout notre séjour.

Tout était parfait ! Le personnel, la vue sur la baie et le Pão de Açucar, la localisation à Santa Teresa, les chambres, l'établissement en lui-même... Le petit déjeuner était parfait également. Je recommande cet établissement sans aucune hésitation !

Nous n’aurions pas pu rêver mieux comme lieu de séjour pour notre premier voyage à Rio. En plus d’être idéalement situé dans le charmant quartier de Santa Theresa, le logement offre une vue absolument incroyable sur la ville, ce qui est un émerveillement des le réveil. La maison est décorée avec goût et dispose d’une petite piscine pour se rafraîchir. Le vrai plus pour nous était le petit déjeuner qui était l’un des meilleurs de ma vie (!) avec des produits frais et des pâtisseries différentes tous les matins, un vrai paradis! L’hôte est de plus serviable et arrangeant. N’hésitez pas !

A very chilled stay in a fantastic location in Santa Teresa. Breakfast in the conservatory with views over Sugarloaf mountain. Refreshing dip in the pool, very friendly and welcoming staff.

Adorei tudo e todos os funcionários muito prestativos e atenciosos.

Es ist die wohl beste Unterkunft, die man in Rio finden kann. Die Aussicht ist beeindruckend. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist lecker und das Personal sehr freundlich. Wir würden jederzeit wieder kommen.

Magnifique maison avec une superbe vue sur Rio. Jardin très joli et agréable. Le petit déjeuner est vraiment top. J ai adoré ce moment attablé sous la véranda. Le bar est mignon et l occasion d apprendre à faire des caïperinha. Le personnel est très gentil.

Communication with Stefan and Adriana was great. The inn is extremely well maintained, with beautiful furnishings, comfortable bed, and wonderful views from both the room and common areas. Wait staff were charming and welcoming. The included breakfast was lovely. Would recommend highly.

No room for improvement! We loved everything about our stay.

The hosts were quite friendly and provided lots of info about the history of the home which was quite interesting and about local restaurants. Amazing views. Multiple comfortable options to hang out with view. Heated towels, rolling window shades felt like I was in Germany again! Tasty breakfast and attentive staff. Location to Santa Theresa shops, murals, restaurants close by.

The throw rug was stained in our room &dresser drawer smelled strongly of mildew so didn’t use. Alot of rules (charges for things-pool etc.) like being at Oma’s. We could have benefited from hot tea in afternoon/evening with mugs with chilly weather and recovering from colds. Only option was to pay for espresso in styrofoam cups. No one around for planned Check out in AM- a staff tried to get us to come back and wait for desk staff but we were catching uber to airport.

I spent a magical few days here on a solo writing retreat. The view is magnificent, the rooms are lovely, and there's a gorgeous living room for guests (with an incredible view) where I spent many quiet hours writing. Breakfasts were delicious and generous. Everything is so clean. I wish I could have stayed longer.

Nothing. Prior to coming here I was at a workshop and we stayed at a hotel overlooking Copacabana beach. I fell in love with a beach exercise class there, so the only downside to staying here was that I needed to take an Uber to Copacabana beach every morning to do my gym class! But that was entirely my choice. Santa Teresa is a charming area.

Nous avons tout aimé ! L’accueil attentif d’Adriana, le petit déjeuner exceptionnel (tout est fait maison et change tous les matins), la chambre confortable et agréable, la terrasse avec vue et piscine … Et le quartier si attachant de Santa Theresa. On se sent choyés et presque comme à la maison ! Un logement exceptionnel.

Vue sur la baie de Botafogo et le pain de sucre. Le calme de Santa Teresa au sein de Rio

El parque es divino, mismo los desniveles y espacio exterior con plantas está muy bien cuidado, da placer estar ahi. El desayuno completo, se lo notaba de calidad. La zona también es impecable, estás a pasos de la calle principal de la zona, que es muy linda de día para recorrer, y de noche se puede llegar caminando a barcitos. La ubicación realmente es perfecta. Las habitaciones super comodas, de estilo bonito, vista espectacular. Volveríamos!!!

Sería un 1000 que la piscina fuera climatizada para los dias frescos y nublados como cuando estuve. En la habitación, sé que es personal porque a mi pareja le encanto tal y como estaba, pero a mi me hubiese gustado tener una opción de almohada un poco mas baja. Pero igualmente toda la habitación y colchon super comodo.

Gastgeber waren super zuvorkommend. Frühstück war super alles was man braucht und superschnell. Wir haben uns rund um wohl gefühlt was wichtig ist wenn man in einem weit entfernte Land ist. Wir würden jederzeit erneut kommen. Ich denke in Rio gibt es wenig Hotels die bei Gertrudes mithalten können. Es war wunderbar.

This is a wonderful place to stay while visiting Rio. The staff is incredibly kind and welcoming, and the interior is beautifully decorated, cozy, stylish, and full of charm. The highlight is the stunning deck with breathtaking panoramic views, along with the delicious breakfast featuring fresh tropical fruits every morning. We can’t recommend this place enough. We loved our stay here! The breakfast was amazing, the room was lovely and light and airy with the most amazing view of the city. We loved the pool and the honesty bar. The team were very helpful and gave us lots of lovely tips. The local area felt safe and there was lots of great places to explore.

we booked a room with a shared bathroom but even that was fine, as we never had to wait to use it.

The moment you enter the place you feel like home, so cozy, comfy and relaxing. The food was my favorite!

Our room was close to the kitchen, where the breakfast was in preparation around 6 o’clock in the morning, so it was a little bit noisy, but everything they were preparing was so delicious, so I could forget about it :)

El lugar es hermoso y todo esta cuidado hasta el mas mínimo detalle, que dan por resultado una experiencia cálida, cómoda y encantadora. Las vistas hacia el Pan de Azucar y toda la ciudad de Río son increíbles. La cama y las toallas son de calidad superior! De los mejores lugares en los que me aloje sin dudas!!

Perhaps the only small complaint - if I had to dig for one- is that nearby Favella(s) late nite music was heard… But hard to complain about joyous celebration of life. I noticed it but didn’t bother me.

A magical place to stay. A real gem on the slopes of Santa Teresa one of the oldest neighbourhoods of Rio. The hotel, was an old family home with Art Deco details, is full of objects and intriguing decorations beautifully curated by Adriana the owner. The beautiful breakfast room, the general sitting room overlook the sloping garden/ pool and view over the bay to the Sugar Loaf mountain, just perfect to sit, relax (as is the garden round the swimming pool). Great breakfast with eggs made to order, delicious fruit fools, cakes, and lots of delicacies, that you can see being made in the kitchen. Staff all very helpful and obviously enjoy the magic of the place. A short walk up hill takes you to a small area of restaurants, bars and shops. Downhill to the financial centre.

Everyone that worked there was very nice and helpful. Adriana was very welcoming and gave us all the information we needed about the area. Santa Teresa is historic and very cool. The house is beautiful, very well decorated and with amazing views. Lots of great places to just sit and relax. But be prepared to go up and down lots of stairs.

Perfect sense of paradise! Clean, tastefully decorated rooms and outside area, a small but very pleasant pool which is normally just yours to enjoy with a magnificent view. Breakfast feels homemade and done with care!

Only if they would allow infants so I could go back! 😊
