Hotel Convento San Roque

A localização é excelente, e a experiência de se hospedar em um convento é realmente diferente e especial. O prédio é muito bonito e cheio de charme. Também gostei muito do vídeo e das instruções para acesso, que foram claros e facilitaram bastante a chegada.

Como pontos negativos, os travesseiros estavam com um cheiro muito ruim, o que foi bastante desagradável, e o chuveiro é pequeno e desconfortável. No geral, uma experiência interessante, mas esses pontos poderiam ser melhorados.

A wonderful old building. Very charming. We arrived in time for lunch which was excellent. A very convenient stop the night before catching the ferry from Bilbao. Only a 30 minute drive to the ferry.

El sitio es precioso, es antiguo pero tiene un encanto especial.

La habitación nos decepcionó un poco, en fotos parecía otra cosa. Algunas (por lo menos la que nos tocó a nosotros) están bastante anticuadas (entiendo que el sitio es antiguo pero hay habitaciones bastante mejores) y por 85€ la noche nos pareció bastante caro. Por otro lado, hacía bastante calor en la habitación, y no tienen aire acondicionado, pero decir que la chica de la limpieza, nos dejó un ventilador y fue encantadora con nosotros. Las sábanas también olían bastante a humedad, la habitación también, pero entendemos que se trata de un sitio de bastantes años y de piedra. Otra cosa que no nos gustó es que en la habitación pegada a la nuestra había un perro que no dejaba de ladrar desde que llegamos y hasta que llegaron sus dueños no paró, desde las 11 hasta casi las 12 o así (nos parece genial que admitan perros pero evidentemente los dueños no estaban en la habitación y el perro estaba solo) y llamamos al número que nos dieron (dos veces, ya que estábamos intentando dormir) y nadie nos cogió el teléfono.

La ubicación y la atención de los profesionales

No sé si nos tocó una habitación poco utilizada habitualmente pero al entrar olía a humedad y cerrado. La cortina de la ducha no estaba muy bien. Las almohadas comparando con las de otras habitaciones también dejaban mucho que desear.

La habitación da a una calle donde aparcan y salen los autobuses interurbanos. Supuestamente nuestra habitación debería dar a los jardines. Habitación ruidosa…

La ubicación. El baño.

Las camas separadas, pequeñas e incómodas, en particular la mía estaba en la parte baja rota y te hundias. No tiene ventiladores, ni aire acondicionado. La ventana no tiene mosquitera, así que no puedes abrirla y la habitación hace bastante calor.

Anni the main host and front desk gal was excellent and super friendly. Beautiful old property in a nice lived in small town with good bus access to Bilbao. Good parking and access. Good food and value in the restaurant.

Rooms could be cleaner (had cobwebs) and more updated. Pretty barebones and small with no real amenities and AC. Got stuffy so we had to bring in our fan. Bar staff in general were not very warm and welcoming in general.

Por poner alguna pega, el baño podría ser más moderno pero es totalmente funcional y está bien, solo por poner algo.

La struttura è molto bella, ma meriterebbe una cura maggiore. La nostra camera era più spartana e vecchiotta da quelle in foto, ma comunque confortevole. Gli orari dí reception sono molto limitati, ma il personale è cortese via mail e telefono.

Tuvimos mala suerte imagino, una de las habitaciones tenía una fuga de agua en el lavabo y nos despertamos con un charco considerable. En esa misma habitación había muchas telarañas. Nos encontramos un pendiente en el suelo. Descuidada la limpieza. En la otra los colchones eran muy malos, blandísimos (mucho uso) y tocaría renovarlos. Entiendo que es un 2 estrellas pero se pueden hacer las cosas mejor. Tienen un lugar privilegiado. Aprovéchenlo bien.

Great place to stay with a friendly and accommodating staff. Would highly recommend a visit to balmaseda and a stay at this hotel, both of which are full of charm and character.

Pas de restaurant ouvert le soir, seulement une cafeteria. Ouverture du petit déjeuner à 9h, c'est beaucoup trop tard. Rue bruyante.

Историческая постройка, атмосферно. Хорошее расположение относительно центра. Очень живописно! И для нас было ценно наличие чайника в номере, мы любим пить чай.

Окна номера выходили на автобусную остановку. Окно нельзя было закрыть, потому что в комнате нет кондиционера и достаточно жарко и душно. Поэтому было очень шумно от электрических автобусов и машины уборки мусора. И в холле отеля собралась компания, ее разговоры были слышны в комнате, к сожалению. Также была проблема найти ужин, потому что в будние дни в этом городке мало где готовят ужин. И завтрак в отеле мега скромный.

El edificio es muy idílico, la bañera nos gusto mucho.

Está al lado de una parada de autobús, y como teníamos la ventana abierta porque no hay aire acondicionado, nos entró el olor a tabaco de la calle a las 6h de la mañana.

Que acepte mascotas, a pesar de ser un edificio singular.

Poco personal en el bar para ser agosto, congestión a la.hora del desayuno.

Accueil chaleureux dans un joli bâtiment ayant du caractère, très bien situé dans un joli village. Chambres très correctes.

Les matelas étaient assez durs, et nous avions eu chaud la nuit. Il manquais un ventilo ou de la clim. Un peu bruyant que ce soit la rue par la fenêtre ou la salle de bain de la chambre à côté.

Die ruhige Atmosphäre und das geräumige Zimmer. Die Snacks in der Cafeteria waren geschmackvoll, der Service freundlich.

The history and restoration of a convent

There is only one small window which made it very hot and did not give enough cool air at night. there are bright street lights from the street or buildings so had to close the curtain to make dark. There needs to be a fan provided in the rooms.

Wunderschönes historisches Gebäude mit Stil und viel Geschmack eingerichtet… feine Atmosphäre. Zimmer sehr schön, Personal sehr freundlich. Leider hatte wir keine Gelegenheit das Restaurant zu besuchen.

There is decent access to Balmaseda from Bilbao. I think it’s a great and unique option if you want a lovely natural landscape and quiet versus staying in the big city. Lovely countryside area with various local restaurants and a cozy feel. The convent itself was very pretty and the staff were kind. They also serve tasty foods throughout the day. Bed and accommodations were comfortable. River is nearby… I was really happy to get the chance to stay in the area.

Full of character, unique, beautiful building, decent sized room, clean, nice bar, huge bed.

Supposed to have a kettle, tea/coffee and water in the room but we didn’t. Road noise. Could do with a fan as it got hot. Other than the lady who checked us in, a lot of staff didn’t smile.

Overall great place and being a converted convent gives it a unique feel and edge

Wanted to eat in the restaurant was told earliest 8pm as busy despite being a hotel guest. Turned up 7.45pm to be told no booking and that catering manager wasn't on until 8pm! Then told earliest would be 9pm as had to wait for the wood fired ovens to heat up. Not impressed with the attitude from staff about that either and no where else to find food so had to eat cold from bar

The location and building are amazing. The staff were super helpful and great coms as well were arriving after reception was closed but they sorted everything out for me. On top of that they let us park our motorbikes near the main entrance for max security. If you are on motorbikes and getting the ferry at Bilbao this is a perfect location; 34 min from the ferry

No food or drink at the hotel which would have been amazing as it’s such a nice place that would have been great to have dinner and breakfast there. Having said that there are plenty of coffee shops around to grab dinner or breakfast

El edificio nos gustó mucho, el personal fue muy amable y todo estaba muy limpio. El único aspecto negativo fue que coincidimos con una fuerte ola de calor y la habitación se calentaba mucho. Finalmente tuvimos que comprar un ventilador para poder descansar.

Es un lugar con encanto y muy bien ubicado.

las habitaciones (celdas) son oscuras y muy calientes, poco ventiladas, no hay aire acondicionado. Supuestamente el día que llegamos (sábado) el restaurante estaba abierto pero no fue así, estaba cerrado. El staff es inexistente, te dan las instrucciones para entrar por Whastap. Nos hicieron registrarnos on line antes de la llegada (en ningún otro hotel reservado con Booking ha sido así) aportando algunos datos del DNI (como número de soporte) que considero innecesarios y confidenciales. El desayuno en la cafetería con opciones bastante limitadas.

Lovely building, style and location.

Sweltering temperature in room due to lack of air conditioning, only supplied a small fan after complaining, which didn't help at all. Reception staff gave us wrong information on breakfast time and failed to communicate on room after saying they would. Cafeteria, opened 30min late and no breakfast was provided by the not so helpful grumpy staff who informed us that breakfast had been cancelled and there was no kitchen staff.

The hotel was much nicer inside than it looked from the outside. The rooms were very spacious

Check in closes at 6pm - which wasn’t a problem, but if we had arrived later I don’t know how we would have got into the hotel as there are no staff in the hotel after 6pm. The restaurant is only open at lunchtime, so not breakfast or dinner meal was available. It was a heatwave the night of our stay and the room was hot, there was no air con or even fans.

Location is good and a nice building

When booking states the bar and restraunt will be open,on arrival informed all are closed for the night.Please state this when booking.

Lovely hotel in a great location right next to the town.

There was no air conditioning or fans so the rooms were hot. Our room was right above the bus station so it was very noisy and there was loud music playing until 2.30am.

The place is a beautiful ex-convent; the room was very clean and comfy. The bathroom was very nice and clean. The size of the room was perfect, and the staff was very friendly. They have free parking, and there is a cafe/restaurant on premises. We got free water, orange juice and sweet snacks every day. We loved the place!

Great place with an ancient history. I loved it because it was close to Bilbao (we rented a car and it was 30 mins away). The smalltown it's beautiful and it has given the chance to live a local experience :)

Difficulty in finding it

Es ist ein sehr schönes Hotel. Das Personal ist sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Das Es ist auch sehr gut und die Getränke. Ein schönes altes Gemäuer mit Charm.

Ich sitze im Rollstuhl, das Hotel wurde ausgewiesen als Behindertengerecht. Liebe Rollstuhlfahre lasst es sein! Alle und ich meine wirklich jede Zimmertür durch die mein Rollstuhl nicht ging. Bei den Bädern das gleiche Spiel. Zum Restaurant mehrere Stufen! Es gab einen Vorraum in dem man nett essen konnte. Für meinen Mann und mich war das Schwerstarbeit. Wir mussten um 9:30 in Bilbao an der Fähre sein. Um 8:30 war noch KEIN Personal da. Wir mussten eine offene Tür suchen! Die haben wir gefunden und schon wieder, dieses Mal mein der Gott sei Dank ein kräftiges Kerlchen mit 70. Ist. Kein ebener Weg der Rollstuhl bewegte sich nicht. Ich noch zwischen den Knien einen Koffer, Jacken und Taschen oben drauf. Dann ein Absatz wo eine Eisenrampe, ich denke für die Lieferanten lag. Sehr, sehr steil, hab gedacht mein Mann bekommt einen Herzinfarkt. Dann noch der Druck mit der Fähre, es war filmreif! Also 🤔 überlegt was ihr macht. Das Behindertengerecht weg und es ist ein schönes Hotel
