Middle House - Wensleydale, Yorkshire Dales

Everything about this hotel was exceptional. The room was large and comfortable, the hotel itself was beautiful and well appointed, and the food was absolutely glorious. The staff were friendly and attentive, and looked after us so very well. I would recommend this as a perfect place to stay for anyone spending time in North Yorkshire. It’s well situated for towns and also countryside, and not far away from major travel routes by car.

Floor and bed in our room was not level so bed not comfortable on the "low" side. Buffet breakfast was a bit "corporate" ( packet cereals and packet pastries).

Missing some comfortable seating for ‘down time’ inside or out . The dining room is lovely as are the rooms but just a sofa or comfy chair or two would make all the difference

All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Everywhere was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed the two easy chairs in our room. The breakfasts were excellent (superb eggs) and high quality evening meal. Parking on site is really convenient.

No towel rails seems a bit inconvenient.

The breakfast was made to order and was lovely, we had a evening meal which we enjoyed ,atmosphere was nice in the bar we felt comfortable and relaxed staying at middle house and we would stay again.

Great location in the centre, lovely bar & restaurant- added bonus of its own car park. Staff were brilliant very helpful and supportive. One pub up the road & the other down the road - less than a minutes walk. Both served food, albeit ate at Middle House each evening - good food! Also a coffee house just down the road best cake & coffee I have had from anywhere!

If I had a disappointment it was probably the bathroom - bit small and perhaps not well thought out for placing your toiletries. For some reason the toilet felt quite low? - not a deal breaker as the room was bright & very clean.

Lovely hotel perfectly situated for our purposes. We needed to check in earlier due to attending a wedding, the staff at the hotel were very accommodating with our request. Breakfast the following day was top notch, highly recommend the full Yorkshire breakfast. Room was spotlessly clean and beds were comfortable.

Centrally located Friendly and professional staff Evening meal was excellent Breakfast would be better served a little earlier for walkers, however, we were provided with a very good take out breakfast which was delicious.

I can’t say that there was anything I didn’t like. Maybe the bathroom in our room required a little updating but it was a comfortable room with all that you required.

Lovely position in a dales village, very friendly staff, excellent food and very comfortable accommodation.

The hotel is spotlessly clean, welcoming and located in the most beautiful village. When e arrived they had kindly upgraded us as it was our anniversary, a lovely touch! We also had an evening meal in the hotel which was exceptional- would recommend this to hotel to anyone!

The owners have created a warm friendly feeling throughout the hotel and bar. Their staff work meticulously hard to ensure that nothing was too much trouble. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Food was very good with a plentiful quality breakfast to get the day started. Street Parking is always an issue in Askrigg and the hotel car park was a real bonus knowing the car was safe overnight.

Dubbeldebitering både av rum och middag vilket löstes direkt när jag/banken upptäckt det utan diskussion.

When we looked at the menu for a meal we didn’t think they were showing prices. After asking it turned out the prices were shown but without £ signs.

Staff were helpful friendly. They moved our room down a flight of stairs unbidden as I had a crutch due to a leg injury. There is no lift.. We had an excellent evening meal and great breakfast in the restaurant. Slept well in the comfortable bed.. lovely beer garden, peaceful hotel rooms except for some traffic noise

Breakfast was excellent, great selection of hot and cold options. Had dinner a couple of evenings in the restaurant and the food was wonderful, great selections on the menu and all cooked to perfection. A very comfortable bar and restaurant. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. We had Room 1 which was a lovely size and very well appointed.

The bathroom in our room was small and dated it was spotlessly clean though. I think that room would benefit from removal of the bath and putting a new suite with a shower only in.

Comfortable, clean rooms in a very picturesque town. The restaurant was full but we had an excellent meal in one of the rooms off the bar. Nearby Aysgarth falls are well worth a visit.

Middle House is a lovely hotel in Askrigg. .It is very well run. Rooms are tastefully decorated and beds are very comfortable. Standards of cleanliness are very high There is a good choice of breakfast items . and a wide ranging dinner menu. We had a very enjoyable stay

Very minor point, but there should be towel rails in the bathroom and a handrail for older customers to help enter and exit the bath.

We booked this hotel at the last minute after a stressful week at work and a need to recharge ourselves and left feeling just that. We spent the afternoon in Wensleydale Creamery before checking in and the man at the reception kindly let us store our cheese purchases in a fridge before recommending a visit to the Yorkshire Dales Brewery for some ale and folk music. We spent an hour in the brewery before heading back for a siesta before our evening meal. The meal itself was delicious and cooked very well. Despite the delay in the food arriving we were well looked after by the staff. After our meal we found that the folk band had migrated into the bar from the brewery so spent the rest of the night singing along before heading to bed. Our room was very comfortable, the bed was like sleeping on a firm cloud, the pillows were the same so you felt supported but not sleeping on a rock and the room itself was very clean and tidy. The shower and bathroom facilities were also very clean. The added touches with the toiletries, tea and coffee facilities were very well received. My biggest compliment to the hotel was the towels. Most hotels give you a hand towel sized towel to use after a shower and I almost danced out of the shower when I found an actual bath towel that I could wrap around myself. The breakfast selection was very good with cereals, fruit, yoghurt and pastries that you could help yourself to as well as a hot food selection. The Yorkshire Breakfast was delicious and well cooked. We will definitely be returning.

My only criticism and it's very minor to the Irishman with me is the way that the pint of Guinness was pulled.

Prices of hot drinks extortionate with £4 for an Americano, (coffee & water) same price as flat white. Bathroom - for a luxury room at the price charged, I was expecting a rainfall shower & feather pillow & duvets.

A beautiful property, the rooms were tastefully decorated in a natural style appropriate for the property. The situation and views were stunning, and we were made to feel most welcome. All the staff were kind and considerate and the food was delicious. The bar was cosy and felt traditional yet accepting and welcoming. A perfect blend of contemporary and period hospitality.

The Middle House had the ideal combination of attention and privacy. Everything we needed was provided in the room and additional information had been given before we got to our room. We felt it would have been easy to ask for anything else if we needed it. We'd booked to have dinner at The Middle House and the food was beautifully presented and delicious. There was a quiet, calm, and friendly atmosphere in the dining area.

There were a few noisy children in the bar area, next to the restaurant, but they were soon controlled by their parents, so the disturbance didn't last long.

Travelled to Askrigg by Van , with my motorcycle in the back to visit Excellent warm reception , the hotel was very well kept with most furniture like new , wonderful decor in very good order , room was on second floor so had a free exercise period each time , very quiet, nice and warm with fully adjustable radiator giving out very good heat in the bedroom and bathroom, with was a nice size and nicely decorated. Very good shower ,immediate hot water , lovely comfortable and warm bed . Breakfast was perfect with buffet area for cereals , fruit , yogurts and porridge available to order , choice of full breakfast , vegan , or combinations of eggs , beans , salmon and all cooked to perfection, thank you . Very well located for the butter tub pass , Tern hill inn, Ribbledale viaduct, Wensleydale creamery (excellent cheese and demonstration of cheese making) had a visit to The station , watched the film Mothers Pride , fantastic scenery , lovely people , thank you
