The calm luxury of the location, bedrooms, pool, staff, and meals was unbeatable! Our stay at Il Verreno was the relaxing part of our two week vacation to Italy, and every part of it exceeded our expectations and left us rejuvenated. My kids (7 and 14) delighted in the property dogs, beautiful pool, and super friendly staff. Our suite (the two bedroom Cavillo) was huge, private, relaxing, and quiet. The staff treated us with such kindness and prompt attention to every detail - I've never felt more like a princess in a fairy tale! Our cooking class with the restaurant's chef was a major highlight, as was every meal we had at Cucina Donnaluisa.

The only thing I would have preferred was having the AC work a little stronger. The rooms were still cooled off compared to outside, but nights were a little warmer than we like.

My husband is vegan and the staff at breakfast and in their gorgeous restaurant went out of their way to make him the most delicious food. They made so much effort to give him multiple options each night and the food was out of this world. I would highly highly recommend Il Verreno to anyone travelling in Tuscany but particularly if you vegan / vegetarian.

Alt var simpelthen perfekt fra start til slut. Vi fik en varm og professionel modtagelse ved ankomsten, hvilket straks fik os til at føle os velkomne. Værelset var lækkert, komfortabelt og smagfuldt indrettet – der manglede absolut intet. Hele personalet var venligt, imødekommende og opmærksomt på alle detaljer, hvilket gjorde opholdet ekstra behageligt. Morgenmaden var overdådig med et stort udvalg af lækre kvalitetsprodukter. Både frokost og aftensmad var på allerhøjeste niveau med udsøgte retter og fremragende service. Hotellet er særdeles velholdt og ligger omgivet af smuk natur, som skaber de perfekte rammer for afslapning og ro. Vi kan varmt anbefale Il Verenno og glæder os allerede til at vende tilbage.

Wunderschön gelegenes Rustico, etwas abseits des kleinen Ortes, Ambra. Die Zimmer sind sehr großzügig mit separaten Schlaf. Wohnraum Minibar und Kühlschrank. Das Frühstück ist sehr reichhaltig und lässt keine Wünsche offen. Das Abendessen in der Unterkunft ist hervorragend, wenn auch nicht ganz billig. Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen.

Una villa preciosa, típicamente toscana, con un ingreso precioso surcando viñedos y olivos. Pareció estar metida en “bajo el sol de la toscana “. Enrico, Vittorio, Ilaria y María Luisa te agasajan con sabores y maridajes para que te sientas de maravilla. Y las perras son el detalle que completa de amor el lugar. Grqcias!!!!

We spent one of our most beautiful vacation days at the accommodation. We were so happy that we extended our stay. It is a beautiful complex with very comfortable rooms. There were two highlights: on the one hand, the restaurant with its incredibly good food and very friendly service—a culinary delight that must be experienced. And last but not least, the adorable dogs Lola and Ari, who gave us a warm welcome every day and whom we already miss very much. We will definitely come back sometime. Thank you very much.

We had a fantastic 5 day stay whilst attending a friends wedding nearby. The accommodation and facilities were first class and the staff were very attentive. I would highly recommend

Check in was seamless and very pleasant. The room that we stayed in had such breathtaking views and could not be happier to choose Il Verreno over the other options. I cannot wait to recommend this place to others who are planning on visiting the area.

The staff were so accommodating. We had a flight delay and rushed to the property so we could eat on there terrace. The servers were also kind, professional and very accommodating. Engaged in small talk. You had the sense they enjoyed their jobs. The room was spacious and very quiet, with a beautiful overlooking vineyards. We hiked around the area and then took a refreshing dip in the pool. It was the perfect weekend getaway. Parking area was spacious and easy to get to the room from.

Great staff who were accommodating when our flight was delayed. The property is in a gorgeous area of Tuscany, great for hikes and general relaxation.

To już mój drugi pobyt w tym hotelu i z pełnym przekonaniem mogę powiedzieć, że wrócę tam jeszcze nie raz. Hotel jest bardzo czysty, a jego położenie w pięknej okolicy sprawia, że można naprawdę odpocząć. Na szczególne wyróżnienie zasługuje obsługa – przemiła, pomocna, zawsze uśmiechnięta i chętna do pomocy. Z niczym nie było problemu, wszystko dało się załatwić szybko i z życzliwością. Czuć było, że zależy im na tym, żeby goście czuli się wyjątkowo. Zdecydowanie polecam każdemu, kto szuka miejsca z dobrą atmosferą i wysokim standardem obsługi!

Very beautifully situated on a hill. Wonderful stone houses, tastefully furnished. Spacious garden. And the best: the restaurant. Don't miss lunch and dinner there. It is just delicious. And the staff is lovely.

There are so many well-deserved positive things to say about Il Verreno that this is not a short review. The setting is peaceful and magical, high above the Ambra Valley with views across orchards, olive groves and vineyards to wooded hills - best seen from the swimming pool! The historic buildings have been restored with great care and furnished with striking taste. The extensive public seating areas and library show the comfort of guests is more important than profit. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped. The bed was unimaginably comfortable. There was a decent sized refrigerator too. The choice and quality of food at breakfast was better than I can remember anywhere. The food in the restaurant is full of imaginative surprises and has a deserved high reputation. The wine list offers many great options for all lovers of Tuscan wines. The staff are unfailingly professional, polite, efficient and friendly. We liked them! Ambra village is a short distance away. Small, charming and the home of the Notti Ambra on summer Tuesday evenings - not to be missed. Bucine train station is not far with trains to Arezzo and Florence. Il Verreno is not the cheapest nor the most expensive place to stay in Tuscany. We felt it was fairly priced for the high standards it offers. The sincerest compliment we can give is that we intend to come back for a longer stay.

Beautiful resort! It’s away from crowds and traffic, situated in the countryside. Restaurant is very upscale. Sitting on the restaurant patio and looking at the rolling hills is an excellent way to spend an evening. Breakfast was delicious, varied, and plentiful. The resort is located at the end of a one lane road, so one must stay alert when driving in and out!

All facilities great but the restaurant is superb, what a great chef! Friendly staff and very comfortable room. Would come back just for the food and wine, try the laurel cocktail!!

Old staircase between the library and our room was scary, but we are old and always worried about falling, probably wouldn’t bother fit people

We’ve just returned from a week with our children (aged 20 & 18). This fabulous boutique hotel sits on a hilltop away from the traffic with breathtaking views across valleys to the distant mountains. We stayed in a family suite which was effectively two separate studios. The rooms are decorated Italianesque to showroom standard and are very comfortable. We were blown away by the restaurant and learned that Marialuisa Lovari is an award winning chef, and so dinner on the gorgeous terrace each night felt like Michelin star dining, even for the basic pasta dishes that my son preferred. The pool has great views and is bigger than it looks on the website with deep beach beds next to the pool and a row of sun beds on the upper tier, and not forgetting the pool bar open all day. The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. A truly wonderful find!

Amazing surprise ! We have been warmly welcome upon check-in by a very friendly lady called Asia and upgraded to a suite room. We travel a lot and experimented all types of rooms or suite and this suite was just perfect. The bed was so comfortable, the decoration was on point, the bathroom very well thought with a Jet/bidet for the toilet ! great add-on especially after we lived in South East Asia for more than 15 years. We got in room dining and the food was very good too. The pool was immaculate and so quiete. The breakfast was set with a very generous buffet with all sorts of savory or sweets items to choose from. Eggs are made based on your likings. We had an amazing sleep and the room was pitch black which was important for us. The staff was great, we chat with a few and all were very friendly

Even tho I am a picky guest and myself in the hospitality business, nothing has disappointed us during our stay. We regretted having booked our next hotel already a while ago otherwise we would have extended our stay without hesitations.

We could not be happier with our stay at Il Verreno. We arrived late on our first night and they were able to hold our table in the restaurant for dinner. My husband had Coeliac disease and not once did we have to tell the staff, they had a note in file and every single one of them remembered for the whole trip. They made changes to the menu for him, ensuring he had gluten free bread and pasta etc. the service was excellent throughout the hotel, the hotel was clean and the rooms are beautiful. I would recommend this to anyone looking to stay in the Tuscan area.

I haven’t even checked out yet but I cannot wait to tell you how wonderful this place is. It’s a small family resort with only twenty or so rooms. The grounds and views are breathtaking. Each and every one here is treated as an honored quest. I look forward to coming back.

This property is absolutely beautiful! The rooms are huge, super comfortable, and the bed is pure luxury—perfect for a restful sleep. What truly stood out, though, was the kindness and outstanding service from the entire staff. I spent 5 days here with my parents and we had a wonderful time. I would love to come back!

We had a lovely stay at Il Verreno. It has a quiet, understated luxury with tasteful design throughout. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, blending modern style with Tuscan charm. The resort grounds are beautiful, surrounded by rolling hills and peaceful greenery, perfect for relaxing walks. The food is simply amazing, showcasing local ingredients with care. Management and staffs are friendly and attentive. We couldn’t ask for a better place to stay.

Excellent hotel. Paradise for those who needs Gluten Free kitchen. Great place to have 3 generations holiday. Grandparents in a suit and children and grandchildren in an apartment ( there are 4) .It is not a fancy hotel and it feels like home, also because of the attitude of the staff, Very good breakfast and also a very good restaurant on site. For sure we will come again Good location to visit both Toscana's wine route, as well as all main cities

This hotel is truly amazing, the staff fully understand how to look after guests , they make you feel welcome and special . We spent 6 wonderful nights there and did not want to leave . Our room was so spacious , excellent quality furniture and fittings , very comfortable beds and a good bathroom and shower. The grounds are beautiful, the outdoor pool was heavenly and cocktails brought to the pool for us . The food and the staff at the restaurant are simply the best , after our first night we booked every night in the restaurant unbelievable quality and real skill with the food , the team are spoke to us making sure we were having the best time and we really did . Thank you Li Verreno for the best stay and we are looking at dates to return

Beautiful setting in the Tuscan hills. The restaurant is delicious. The staff are lovely. Breakfast was great. Small town nearby if you need anything.

- We had to use a babysitting service which ended up costing circa 30 euros an hour. Yes it was external to the hotel but they could have done a better job at negotiating a reasonable rate. - Gym could have been a bit better.

Exceptional property, on a small hill top. Spacious room. The restaurant is closer to fine dining than traditional, with excellent courses and an extensive wine list. Staff is very well prepared and friendly. We had a big delay with our flight and arrived at 01:00 in the night, the Chef was waiting for us and was very helpful. Amazing wildlife around. Wild boards, rabbits, foxes. Drive carefully. Not cheap, not overly expensive, hits the right balance. The location is 30 30-minute drive from Siena, and it is great for exploring all major Tuscan regions. 1 hour drive to Montepulcianio, San Giminiano, Chianti regions.

Travelling with a car is a must. There are few things to see in the proximity, except for the small village of Ambra (not a tourist destination).

Very nice and beautiful resort in a scenic remote location, great for a taking a time out and enjoying the excellent cuisine of Donnaluisa. We had 2 nice and spacious rooms in the main building with comfortable beds, separate living room, both well airconditioned.

All good and exactly what we were looking for, just be aware it is somewhat remote.

We stayed at Il Verreno for our anniversary at the start of July and it was absolutely stunning! So beautiful and peaceful, the room was lovely (we had a suite) and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. We especially enjoyed eating at the Restaurant- the food was amazing! I'd highly recommend staying here if you want a peaceful retreat and also to have a car so that you can also visit the neigbouring towns (we took advantage of day trips to Sienna and Florence). Thank you for a wonderful stay and we look forward to coming back again soon!

This level of care and professionalism was consistent throughout our stay; every request we made was handled immediately and with the utmost professionalism. The resort itself is a beautiful and serene haven. The rooms are tastefully designed, offering both comfort and elegance. The entire property is impeccably clean and thoughtfully laid out, providing a peaceful and relaxing environment. The culinary experience is also worth mentioning—the food is simply amazing, adding to the overall excellence of our stay. In summary, Il Verreno offers an unparalleled experience with its outstanding service, beautiful accommodations, and exquisite dining. The place was gorgeous. Property was stunning. We felt one with nature. The staff was ever present but out of sight. I felt I was at a place just for me. The food was amazing on the night we had dinner there. Top notch. Stayed four nights. Hated to leave. Loved walking into the village of Ambra for a coffee and to pick up a few things.

Our stay was amazing. The grounds, the staff, and the food were all way above expectations! We stayed in a two-bedroom suite. The beds were very comfortable, and the views from the windows were spectacular. The included breakfast each morning was terrific and fresh, and you could choose eggs to order. We ate in the dining room every night, and the food choices were interesting and delicious. Overall, we found for the type of accommodation and the quality of food, the cost of our stay was very reasonable compared to other places in the region, From this location, we could drive to everything we wanted to see in Tuscany. We stayed four days, using the resort as our home base.

Stunning property with a fantastic view. Room was spacious with a living area and seperate bedroom. Plenty of space for multiple suitcases. They went out of their way to accomodate for my dietary requirements, making a breakfast in advance. Restaurant for evening meal was fantastic. The food was amazing would highly recommend eating there.
