Reviewed Sep 19, 2026The hosts were very gracious. The restaurant was really good. We enjoyed our dinner and a hearty breakfast the next morning. The beds were very comfortable in the room. It was a generous size and had a nice bathroom. We had an amazing view. The internet service was reliable.

The hotel has the feel of a slightly run down 1970s establishment. The avocado bathroom suite brought back many memories.

The place is a little bit dated and could do with a refurb or at least a refresh. When we were there there was no hot water as the boiler had failed but that didn’t detract from our enjoyment

Reviewed Sep 14, 2026The location is very convenient if you're on the NC500, as we were. Food in the restaurant was OK, which is a good job as there's nowhere else to eat for miles around! Good live folk music in the evening was a bonus. Room was spotlessly clean. The staff were working very hard to keep the place going.... see next section.
We were contacted on the day to say that the boiler had broken, so no hot water or heating. They'd obviously tried their best to get it fixed, but not managed to. Not surprising on a Sunday in the Highlands, but extraordinary that there's no back up system in a hotel of this size. We were offered money off our evening meal in compensation. The rooms are extremely old fashioned. No TV, ancient avocado bathroom and thin carpets. We felt transported back to the 1970s! Overall, not good value for money.

Reviewed Sep 4, 2026The room was at the end of the corridor so we weren't disturbed much by other guests walking in and out of their rooms. Staff were friendly, check-in was simple and the room (corner room) was very spacious with a lovely view of the Loch.
The flooring and the doors were very old so there was loads of cracking walking up and down the room. The walls were also fairly thin so we could hear the neighbours talking.

Reviewed Aug 29, 2026L'hotel rayonne son histoire au premier regard. C'est grand et vide, car il est dimensionné pour une autre époque. Et du coup c'est déstabilisant. Mais c'est aussi ce qui fait son charme. Un voyage dans le temps accompagné par un personnel qui aime ce qu'il fait. C'est propre, on y dort bien, on y mange bien.
C'est un hotel qui a besoin d'une nouvelle jeunesse. Mais pour ca il a besoin que de nombreux touristes s'y arrête une nuit. Il le mérite.

Reviewed Aug 26, 2026The location is ideal. This is an older property but the owners have ensured it is clean and comfortable. They serve decent meals including a very good cooked breakfast. The staff are really attentive and helpful. I’ll be back on my next hillwalking trip.

Reviewed Aug 24, 2026Expérience merveilleuse. Quand on arrive devant l'hôtel, on se sent vraiment au milieu de nulle part, mais le cadre extérieur est tellement paisible et calme quel bonheur ! Le couple de gérant est absolument adorable et nous garderons ce lieu comme la meilleure étape de notre séjour écossais ! Le repas préparé sur place est simple mais excellent, tout comme le petit déjeuner.
La salle de bain un peu petite et ancienne. Mais même l'absence de télévision et la difficulté du wi-fi font partie de l'expérience et n'ont finalement pas du tout été gênants.

De douch werd niet heel warm, maar dat was niet storend.

De locatie moet echt moderniseren, service is tegenwoordig erg belangrijk, beperkte aanwezigheid van personeel tijdens de dag en nacht zal volgende klanten niet meer overtuigen. Het lijkt mij een locatie die onvoldoende middelen heeft op een toplocatie te willen zijn of wil zelf evolueren naar meer een low budget locatie, helaas vertaalt dit zich nog niet in het prijsniveau

Łóżka zbite z płyt OSB, łazienka bez remontu od 60 lat (dłużej?), kapryśne wi-fi, śniadanie na ciepło tylko szkockie, okna brudne i nie zapewniające prkatycznie izolacji od drogi. Zdecydowanie nie polecam.

Reviewed Jul 19, 2026The view is stunning, the gentleman who greeted us at the reception was very friendly and welcoming. The bed was comfortable, for that I'm grateful after a long drive from England. The old fashioned hairdryer made me chuckle.
I thought I had read it was 5 miles outside of ullapool, which is what I wanted to catch the morning ferry. It isn't. But I wasn't going to be put off by the distance and was willing to stay again. Now I have stayed, I don't think I would go back. The hotel is extremely tired and needs decorating, but again I wasn't going to be put off by the decor. What did put me off from going back, in the bathroom ceiling to our bedroom was a lot of black mold and dido rail in the bedroom was dusty. I couldn't work out why they would let this room out with the mold and why not use a mold and mildew on it to wipe it off so it looks cleaner. Needless to say we didn't try the food and we left before the staff started their first shift in the morning. Also this is the first time I have stayed in a hotel where there is no TV in the bedroom.

Reviewed Jul 13, 2026Hotel has great potential. The green bathroom was from the 1970’s with a cracked basin. The shower had a an air block meaning that I had a cold shower. The bed had a base of hardboard and the mattress was a 100mm slab of foam in a mattress protector. However the staff we very pleasant and very helpful. The Hotel needs lots of updates to get to today’s standards.

The hotel is a relic of the 1960’s, much of it is derelict. Peeling wallpaper and paint, chipped tiles, faded pictures, cheap furnishings. At £160 a night it is very expensive for what you get. Food is overpriced and poor.

Reviewed Jun 22, 2026Noch ein familien-geführtes Hotel, das mit Freundlichkeit und Leidenschaft geleitet wird. Wir haben uns sehr wohl und vorallem willkommen gefühlt. Das Restaurant ist toll - sowohl Abendessen als auch Frühstück waren lecker und ausreichend.
Die Ausstattung ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen - hat uns aber auf der Durchreise nicht gestört.

Breakfast menu could have been clearer as some items (Baked beans and hash browns) were available on request but were not listed. this could have been relayed to us and it would have improved our breakfast experience. No draught beer of any sort. One night stay in June 2026 Full payment was taken December 2025.

Hotel could do with a little facelift, feels quite dated and for that reason feels a lot more expensive compared to other hotels in the area. As there is not too much choice to eat nearby tue only option is too eat in the restaurant, the staff were very nice and food was good but it did feel quite overpriced.
