Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The location was good for what we needed. The breakfast was expensive and I had to send mine back due to the eggs being underdone. The room could do with some TLC as the paper was coming off the walls.
The shower wasn’t the best, not like a power shower.
Very clean and food from the restaurant was excellent.
The only issue was the noise quite late at night from a party that were in the car park, maybe a polite notice to respect guests who are staying. it was after 12.30 PM
The staff were lovely and welcoming. We were booked in and I called to check on the restaurant hours wanting to eat early because of a business meeting. We were then upgraded in part, perhaps, because this wasn't a first visit. The whole experience was spot on including the great, and good value, continental breakfast this morning. So many thanks to Amy, Sammy, Alicia and Suzie (hope I got tge spelling right) and to Chip the owner. Brilliant place to stay and we (one or both of us) will return to enjoy your hospitality again. Many thanks Adrian and Ann
That we were not able to stay for longer on this visit and that I didn't get to sample any red wine given my off site meeting last night!! But Ann tells me that her on site meeting went well and that she very much enjoyed the light Italian wine that you suggested / recommended!!
Comfortable, clean and friendly
Nothing not to like
Staff extremely friendly & funny also! Excellent place to stay I highly recommend it
Very clean
Facilities a little poor
Ideal location
Repeatedly unable to get in the building
Great location, lovely place.to stay and the room is a great size as is the bathroom. We would definitely stay again and would recommend the Woodcote Hotel to anyone. Wish we could have stayed for longer!
The room was very light before 7am. The windows need a blind fitting and it's surprising that there isn't already when the front door has one. Bed very comfortable but squeaky. An adjustable shower head would be a good addition.
Clean and in good location for my business
All good and I recommend even for short stay
Nothing
The staff were great and the dinner and breakfasts were good. The garden area was lovely.
The bed was too soft for one of us and there wasn’t much storage space. We understand a large proportion of guests are business people only requiring one night. Anyway we managed fine.
The food, the room, the staff were all amazing
NA
The place was lovely, beautiful spot and a lovely garden to sit and enjoy dinner. Service from Waitress staff ect was great
I wanted a little sleep-in for a change, but the cleaners came into the room next door around 7am put their music on really loud and were talking, shouting to each other from room to hall; it was really disturbing and inconsiderate. Preference for more breakfast options wasn't a sufficient continental choice
Stayed here with a friend this weekend. What a lovely find. Room catered for all our needs. Lovely view of garden form our room. Appreciated the fan. The staff checking us in and out very friendly. The bar team always smiling and welcoming. Breakfast was outstanding. As and when we return would definitely do evening meal and hope to taken in a tribute act too.
Food only OK very noisy service very slow.
We stayed at the woodcote hotel for 1 night after attending a funeral The staff were very helpful and friendly We had a meal in the restaurant in the evening which was very good
Convenience
Lack of hairdryer
Beer garden
Single room too small
A convenient location with a large car park and a very pretty pub garden. All the team were super friendly and very welcoming. Spacious public areas and a well cooked and generous evening meal. I booked a single room, which was well laid out and ideal for an overnight stay. The room was very clean and had a large bathroom. Excellent value for money.
There was nothing to dislike. I did mean to report that the sink was slow to drain but this is a minor maintenance issue.
Very smartly turned out, friendly and helpful staff. Lovely room, nice and clean and well equipped. Beautiful garden with lots of shade. Very reasonably priced.
Only thing we didn’t enjoy was the gravel car park but only because it’s a bit of a hazard for us motorcyclists.
Convenient location with restaurant and bar on site
The food we ordered was not value for money.
Friendly clean spacious lovely garden
Staff where very good good bar and restaurant
I had booked here because of location and very reasonable price for a single room for nights. The room was better than anticipated. It was across the car park in a separate annex so away from the bar and restaurant which could have been very important if there had been an England Match on the Saturday night or a wedding going on. The garden was a great place for a meeting with a friend. My meal choice was simple after a ling drive and a meeting and with golf the next day. It was a tasty meal and the chef very kindly cooked it right at the end of his shift so that I had all the time I needed for my meeting. Breakfast on the Sunday morning before golf was spot on and very well presented with first class ingredients. Most importantly the team both Saturday evening and Sunday morning (including Amy) were great. Enthusiastic to learn more when I spoke about my wine choice and just so on the ball and friendly without being anything other than very much professional. And tgen, wgen I managed to leave a personal possesion behind on the Monday morning they spotted my error, got in touch and sorted it's posting given that I live 4 plus hours drive to the south! "Beyond expectations by some distance" would encapsulate my experience - and all at a very reasonable price!!
Only one thought whuch was about tge room namely that on the Sunday evening as the restaurant and bar closed relatively early after they had concluded Sunday Lunches a comfy chair in my otherwise excellent single room would have further enhanced the experience. But I realise that soft furnishings in a single room would add to expense both by way of initial provision and thereaftet cleaning time etc. And there may have been such an item pre covid that had to be removed and hasn't reappeared.
I went for an event. The event space was clean and well set out. We were also able to use the outside gardens, which are extensive and beautiful. The hotel room was spacious and very clean. The breakfast eggs were lovely.
I purchased a bacon and egg sandwich, which came with one slice of toast? The bacon unfortunately was like cardboard. Though did offer to change it but I was past that by then, to be honest the chefshould of never let it leave rhe kitcken in that stste.. Also be aware (unlike me) there is also a service charge added) the waitress did offer to take it off but I declined. You have to pay for breakfast at time of eating.

We stayed at the hotel as we were attending a concert at Anfield. Very close to Hooton station so could get train to and from Liverpool. Hotel very clean. Staff lovely.
Nothing
Near to where we wanted to be
No umbrella, and could do with more pillows

Easy to access from the motorway . Nice garden .
WiFi poor
I stayed at this lovely place for 2 nights due to a work party. The food was OUTSTANDING! The staff were fantastic nothing was too much trouble at all. The rooms were beautiful. Slightly hot but due to a heat wave absolutely nothing to do With them and all the rooms had fans. Highly recommended!
Clean, large airy room, nice bar/breakfast room.
Nothing
Staff are all lovely and helpful. Rooms immaculate garden and bar are too
Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was very nice ( we stayed over a weekend) we would stay again if in the area. Our only downside was struggling to park when returning from a day out as the pub was so busy with parties which filled the car park each evening.
Nothing
staff room and restaurant
Amazing hotel staff where amazing the room was lovely and clean and breakfast was outstanding.
Nothing
Room was okay, if you overlook cracked sink and crack in ceiling above the bed. Check in was good and initial impressions okay for the money. Went to visit relatives and returned at 8pm and it went down hill from there…..couldn’t park my car as car park full due to some sort of party going on, eventually got parked after waiting as no one road parking and went to my room in their annex building. What a sleepless night, party music thumping until 12.10 am and the what can only be described as a herd of wilder beast returned to the room above mine at 12.45am. These occupants in the room above were obviously trying to get their 10000 steps in before bedtime as for the next hour it was an orchestra of creaking floorboards, clomping footsteps, light switches going on an off and toilets being flushed….the soundproofing was between awful and non existent. Joy of joys they obviously didn’t like sleep as they were back at it a 7.55am. The happiest I was during my stay was in the car driving away. I realise the hotel can’t be held responsible for other residents actions, but, sort out the sound proofing and only rent out your annex rooms which are butted onto the beer garden to party guests if you are holding an event. I however take ownership of my poor judgment in booking a room connected to a pub on a weekend. We all learn from our mistakes…..pay more if you want to sleep.
Lovely hotel
A charming country hotel, well-run. We had reason to stay for a fortnight and found the place friendly and professional, immaculately clean too. No complaints; recommended if you prefer a quiet rural hotel with a beautiful garden, but close to everything in the Wirral.
It was a great stay from start to finish. Room was lovely and very clean, which I love. The bathroom was stunning and we had a great night sleep in comftable beds. The breakfasts were excellent and great value for money. The staff were so helpful especially Daniella, who dealt with us in the evening and the morning, she was exceptionally helpful and very cheerful. Would definitely stay again
Nothing, everything great
L’ambiente
It was spotless. The staff were very welcoming.
Not entirely happy about breakfast not being included.
The staff were really lovely very helpful x the rooms were very spacious and comfortable the breakfast was excellent
Everything was absolutely amazing. The staff were lovely and friendly and helpful. The facilities were great. The garden area was amazing and the food was delicious.

We had a 40th Anniversary party and it was fabulous. I can’t speak highly enough of the venue and staff who were just brilliant. Everything went like clockwork and everyone had a fantastic time. The garden is beautiful and a few people stayed over in the rooms which were great. I have the mention the breakfast which we had the following morning which was delicious.
We booked on the day, just an hour before arrival, as we decided to stay overnight, as were attending a family party at the hotel. We booked a standard double room (Room 3), which was in the main part of the hotel, above the entertainment room. It was very clean and had the basics, for what we needed overnight. The bed and bedding was clean and comfortable. We got ready there, prior to the party, and the shower was great, with provided toiletry minis. The event itself was fantastic. The staff, venue, buffet food etc were all lovely. We booked room only for £75 through hotels.com, and arranged to have breakfast the next morning, which was paid separately, in the restaurant. The restaurant for breakfast was bright and comfortable. The staff are attentive and go above and beyond, and the quality of the food was exceptional. There was lots of choice. My husband and I both had the full English breakfast, which was the best breakfast I’ve had for a long time. That was under £10 each, and my Husband upgraded to the continental breakfast with unlimited juice/tea/coffee for an extra £3.50. I decided to just have a soya milk cappuccino instead, which was delicious, creamy and hot. Where I’m often disappointed at a lukewarm cappuccino, this was spot-on, along with the substantial breakfast, perfect poached egg and amazing sourdough toast. My only suggestion for improvement would be to add optional privacy blinds on the lovely, large bedroom windows, to let the daylight in, whilst providing privacy when getting ready. We closed the curtains in the room, but it became very dark on a lovely bright evening. Check in/out was a breeze, all staff were friendly and professional, and we’ll certainly return and recommend the hotel for a meal, stay or venue hire.
Lovely clean place Friendly staff Nice room
Nothing
No breakfast taken, only continental available. Bar and restaurant shut on a Monday
Location, friendly staff
First time staying, would definitely recommend. We arrived for check in quite late at 9pm and Daniella could not have been more helpful and friendly. The room was spotless, comftable and great value. The breakfast was excellent with a great amount of choices and again the value and service was perfect.
Nearly everything
The size of the haddock I thought it was a half portion I do not make a point due to we only had a young lady behind bar and I do not like moaning to a bar person
Very polite and helpful staff. Comfortable clean room. Great breakfast.
Very poor lighting in room. Quite a weak shower with hard-to-understand controls.
Easy to find, staff very friendly, food excellent and good size comfortable room
The hotel is situated in a leafy village only 15 minute walk to the train station. We used it to go into Liverpool. We stayed Sunday and Monday night and the hotel was very quiet. Only Continental breakfast is served in the week but it was sufficient for our needs, with cereal, yoghurt, fruit, toast and a selection of pastries on offer. The Woodcote is a small, basic hotel but warm, clean, comfortable with very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is used a lot locally for private parties and also they put on a lot of entertainment by way of tribute bands.
The bar closed at 7.00 on the Sunday and closed on Monday.
Lovely comfortable bedrooms, staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful, had dinner and breakfast - both great food and service.
There was nothing we didn't like.
The room was larger than expected. It was easily accessible if you are ok with stairs.
The floors are rather creaky. The provisions are pretty basic.
Clean comfortable & affordable.
Quiz night at the Woodcote on the last Tuesday of the month is a great way to spend a night out,Steve is an excellent quiz host lots of fun gets all the groups involved it’s really good fun,I would highly recommend it if a group of friends are looking for something to do on a Tuesday night.a fun night out for everyone.Lizzy the Koala’s.
Super warm & welcoming place. Our family go monthly to Amour Events quiz hosted by Steve and he is a great quizmaster. Brings the laughs, good vibes and great atmosphere. Would highly recommend for a night out.
I've stayed here before so did not hesitate to book again. Very convenient location for motorway and station and easy access to North Wales. Very comfortable and spacious room and everywhere spotless. Very quiet so had one of the best night's sleep for ages. Staff are very welcoming. Parking is good and generally feels safe. Will be returning!
No real problems. Can't comment on food this time as eating with friends and family.
Location and parking was great, good size rooms with TV and tea and coffee, staff were so nice and nothing a bother
Breakfast limited, would appreciate some protein with the breakfast, the Bar is closed on a Monday, this is due to lack of guests, however, there were guests there on the Monday I stayed, so the bar should have been open.
Stayed in hotel all night had music on till late couldn't hear tv
Music on late
the staff was very friendly and accommodating
restaurant was closed no breakfast
We went to this place for lunch because we had been here once before just before Christmas because my son was doing a run around the area, anyways because it was very early when we dropped our son off we decided to have breakfast at this establishment, and we did have an amazing breakfast that morning it was a polish woman who sat us down and served us etc she couldn't do enough for us that morning, well after the race my son was doing we decided to treat him to lunch there but obviously it was different staff with no customer skills in my opinion, again the food what we had was very good but just the awkwardness of the staff, snotty and again no customer skills, so the other day whilst we where up that way I suggested we go to here again rather than eat junk food or likewise, this was Sunday the 5th of April by the way anyways when we got inside we were met with a frosty young woman who couldn't be interested whatsoever when I said if there were any tables for lunch, she immediately replied no we're fully booked today and I looked around in amazement because there was lots of tables empty??? With only one or two families or couples eating at the time. My point is why turn down paying customers even if you have bookings, we'd have probably been finished by the time any of the bookings come but that woman really needs to brush up on her dealing with the public.
Nice decor
it was clean - decent room, the only things that concerned me was the lock to the room appeared to be 3 not 5 lever ie it didn't seem so secure
breakfast was ok but a tad expensive .
very clean welcoming staff polite
nice
Good location. Nice hotel with good quality food on offer at reasonable prices. Staff were very good
Our accommodation was in a "suite" in the rooms set alongside the main hotel building. Room very large and equally large bathroom. Views of the landscape gardens.. However the room was basic with a very poor quality mattress and pillows which led to very little sleep. An honest opinion we have to comment that the room we had should not be classed as a suite but perhaps a large double. We did make our comments known to the management and were taken on board. Despite this we would stay here again for the location.
The location was good, the room size was OK.
Very noisy, from bar music and people walking around upstairs in the night. No breakfast available on Mondays how ridiculous is that for a hotel?
Ideally located for visiting family and catching train into Liverpool. The suite was a lovely big room and spotless.
We didn't have any issues. Parking did get busy but fortunately we always found a place.
Fantastic staff and so friendly Food at the function was great and the service from all the staff was great The accommodation was great warm clean and just what you need after partying at the venue is to just go to your clean and tidy room so as you can have a night cap and then relax Thank you to all the staff you were great
Not being able to stay for more than one night as other commitments lead us away
Beautifully clean and well presented
The beds were not as comfortable as they could be but otherwise it was really lovely
Checked in early and bags were put in the room for us
Nothing
Reception was attended at all times, spacious room was clean and warm. Tea and coffee making facilities.
Lighting was dim. No light over the mirror above vanity table.
I have stayed at the Woodcote several times over a few years. For me the highlights are - superb breakfasts of a range and quality that is surprising; very good evening meals cooked to a high standard; warm and friendly bar/restaurant with lovely staff; beautiful garden for summer eating and drinking. I agree with a previous reviewer that the rooms tend to be a bit soulless - maybe a few nice pictures would help. But the prices are keen and the hotel is very handily placed just off the M53.
Very friendly staff, very clean and spacious rooms
Nothing
The bed was ridiculously comfy, clean toilet too. Staff were really friendly. Great breakfast too!
Floorboards were very creaky.
The food was very nice but off a pre ordered menu (given weeks in advance) my child’s starter of garlic ciabatta without cheese came with cheese and when I asked the waitress for it to be replaced for what was ordered I was told there was no garlic ciabatta left!! The venue was aware there were a number of children going to be there that evening and a couple of members of staff were extremely intimidating rude and called my child a derogatory name whilst they were playing. I found this very unprofessional and disappointing and I won’t be using this venue agsin
Excellent nightly rate, clean , comfortable, staff very helpful . Was here for a party being held in hotel
Nothing at all
Room was fine
There was a loud party going on in the pub which we weren’t told about when booking
Our first time staying here it was extremely clean and comfortable. As we just needed a base as we have family nearby we didnt experience the breakfast or dinner so cannot comment on the food. The staff were friendly and helpful
We opted for a twin bedded room but next time I would probably have a double as they were slightly on the small side
Rooms were clean and pleasant.
Only negatives were the light right outside my window but they had curtains, so not really an issue, and the shower was fiddly.
Very nice and clean nice staff and friendly

The room was spotless and the bed very comfy. Breakfast was available however i had to leave early but was still offered a coffee whilst I waited for my taxi.
No improvements need to be made.
The suite was big, well furnished and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and the food was an absolutely delicious. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in the area.
