Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The cleanliness of the bathroom during our stay was extremely disappointing and unpleasant. When my mother went to use the bath towel, she found a large amount of hair all over the towel. There was also hair scattered throughout the bathroom, to the point that my mother had to clean it up herself. This was completely unacceptable for a hotel room. We immediately reported the issue to the front desk staff, but we were told that the General Manager was not at the hotel at the time and that we should contact them by email regarding the matter. I therefore emailed the Assistant General Manager to report the incident. However, we never received an apology, an explanation, or even a response to the email. This lack of communication was extremely disappointing and made the situation even worse. This trip was particularly meaningful to our family, as it was my parents’ last overseas vacation. We ended up staying at this hotel unexpectedly because our flight was canceled due to a hurricane. Unfortunately, what should have been a special trip has been overshadowed by this extremely unpleasant experience. While the lack of cleanliness was unacceptable in itself, the way the hotel handled our complaint was even more disappointing. We promptly reported the issue, followed the instructions given to us by the front desk, and contacted management by email, yet we received no response whatsoever. After this experience and the way our complaint was handled, I have no intention of ever staying at this hotel again.
Fantastic location. Good downstairs bar with attentive bartenders and good food. Walked to several local restaurants and enjoyed the overall feel of the location and vibe.
Do not stay here! My nephew got married last weekend so we booked several rooms. My sister also had the after wedding party in the roof top bar. We made sure not to arrive until 4:30 (definitely not arriving before check in per their comment to book the day ahead if you think you might be early). We were met by the most rude Concierge who asked me to wait a minute while she ducked into a side room. Our rooms, including the one for my 88 year old father, weren’t ready until close to 5:45pm. Next, when I checked my bank acct. I noticed they charged me $977.00 times two for “the room hold”! Even though the rooms were paid for! Also… the roof top was beautiful BUT the food service and food were an extreme let down! They dribbled out food only when we kept asking ! The dessert was also lack luster for the crazy price ! The only positive experience is the coffee and Server in the restaurant was really nice!
I've stayed here several times over the past couple of years as it's one of the better hotels in the area. I've left positive reviews before but this trip seems a bit lackluster. On check-in, I noticed the chair to the desk was missing...no big deal... But then I noticed the nightstand outlets weren't working so I investigated. The nightstand's power cable wasn't plugged in. It wasn't easy getting it in because the outlet opening could barely accommodate the size of the plug so I had to use a hanger to hammer it in but I eventually was able to get it plugged. When I went to shower...the body wash was missing. I had 2 body cream bottles instead. Ugh, went out and bought my own anyway. This hotel has generally been good to me and I figured it's probably the World Cup hangover and the room was hastily cleaned and rearranged or something.
Location and its proximity to walk to shops and restaurants.
The parking situation wasn’t ideal.
Nice and clean room, new rooms with nice new bathrooms and good pricing. At booking/check-in we were not told that the much advertised rooftop and the gym was closed for guests the entire weekend. This was parts of the reasons for booking for us. Food/breakfast at the lobby restaurant was good- but service was very slow so be sure to have ample time. At one pont a drip coffee tok 30mins.. Poor information
Mixed feelings about this one. On the plus side, the hotel is quite new with fresh, modern rooms, and it’s reasonably priced. They also have a fantastic rooftop with genuinely good pizza. Unfortunately the service really let it down. The restaurant staff seemed more interested in their phones than the guests — it took 30 minutes to get two coffees and a juice, and when it finally arrived they’d forgotten one of the coffees while the other was lukewarm. The day before, we waited almost 30 minutes just to be seated, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. It was also disappointing that we weren’t informed in advance that both the rooftop and the fitness area would be closed all weekend for a private event. Overall, a good hotel that needs new staff.
Buenas instalaciones y excelente atención

The staff was wonderful, especially housekeeping and Melon. The only thing that gave me pause, there was a fairly large brown stain on the carpet in our room.
Our stay at The MC Hotel revealed something more concerning than a single bad weekend—it exposed what appears to be a management culture where the guest experience is no longer the priority. The problems started immediately. Our room had crumbs on the floor, and the housekeeping manager acknowledged it had clearly not been vacuumed. While mistakes happen, what stood out throughout our stay was a pattern of poor management rather than isolated incidents. Staff repeatedly treated guests as inconveniences instead of valued customers. The attached photo shows one individual directing guests to move out of the lobby without introducing herself, explaining the situation, or offering any apology. A well-managed hotel would have empowered staff to say, “We’re sorry for the inconvenience. Please enjoy a complimentary drink while we temporarily restrict this area.” Instead, guests were simply ordered to leave. The gym was closed to paying guests and we were told to use another gym down the road. The lobby became unusable for hours, stairwells were closed, and even the lobby restroom was inaccessible at times. None of this was communicated before our arrival, leaving guests to discover after check-in that many of the amenities and common areas they paid for were unavailable. The issue isn’t that the hotel hosted a high-profile group. Hotels do that all the time. The issue is that management appeared willing to inconvenience paying guests without proper communication, planning, or hospitality. Long-term guest trust should never take a back seat to a VIP event. We canceled the third night of our stay because we no longer felt we were receiving the Marriott experience we booked. If you’re considering staying here, ask before booking whether any special events, VIP groups, or buyouts will affect access to the lobby, gym, or other amenities. Based on our experience, don’t assume the hotel will tell you in advance.
Locstion and room quality
I liked everything
Very clean !!
More streaming apps for the smart tvs
Very clean attractive good location for us
Restaurant was okay
Friendly front desk lady! Clean and nice decor
Cant enter as most hotels thru front door which is always locked for some reason. Probably cause not in the best area i assumed. Poor instructions to enter on the side.
The balcony room is always pleasant also the staff is always friendly, I enjoyed the new items on the menu.
When I first arrived I was greeted by such a nice young lady, she gave me my room key but as I entered the room it was occupied, thank goodness nobody was there, also once I got my corrected room, I left out early the next day and phoned the front desk for housekeeping, this was at 10:00am by the time I came back to my room at 4:00pm here was no housekeeping done, I had to ask one of the ladies in the hall to come clean my room.
The staff was friendly. The food was very good.
The furniture was so low to the floor. It was uncomfortable for my tall husband. Even the bed was low to the floor.
Stayed for my Birthday and the entire staff was absolutely fabulous and room was wonderful! xx D
I love everything about this hotel. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Location is perfect! Grilled Ruben sandwich is my favorite from the restaurant. Valet staff is quick to retrieve car and very pleasant to interact with.
constant slamming of bathroom door from room above me, sounded like weights being dropped or bowling balls on ceiling during late hours and dog barking across hall during the day while trying to work. View was absolutely horrible this time but loved the room otherwise
Location, price
Conveniently located, clean, nice amenities, nice neighborhood.
Horrible service standards. Front desk needs to be trained on communication skills in service industry. First night and really disappointed. Possibly one of the worst Marriott properties in terms of service standards and quality of front desk staff and guest services. Possibly short staffed as well trying to cut down costs but causes lot of inconveniences. Have stayed in other autograph collection properties across different countries and not experienced such level of service standards. Lot to be desired from this hotel and for what one pays. Possibly meets the cut for a 3 star and frankly have had better experience with some of the Marriott 3 star properties.
This was my seventh time visiting this hotel . I have no complaints Always a great experience
Location and spacious rooms. Helpful staff at reception.
Saturday night was busy in the roof top bar. Good for the hotel but too much for me.
was there for family event in the area, stayed the weekend with wife. Hotel is average in terms of the property, amenities, rooms. Only option to park was valet ($40/night). Parking attendants and front desk staff very nice. We are bonvoy members but doesn't seem to get anything special. We were in a corner room on 5th floor. Nice size room and bathroom. The lighting by bathroom sink could of been brighter and there were no towel racks in bathroom. Bed mattress too soft, sunk in, not firm at all. We didn't eat any meals there so can't comment on food. I did use gym one day, average equipment. Overall average Marriott quality, nothing special but was convenient for our needs.
Delicious dinner, charming waiter, large and comfortable room.
It’s a beautiful hotel, convenient to the Wellmont theater. Walkable restaurants and nice rooftop views.
It was very modern and comfortable
Just that they didn't have a microwave. It was our anniversary and they menu needed a little more variety
Rooms were very small. Almost claustrophobic. Sheets were thin and scratchy like paper. The pillows were very small. Overall uncomfortable bed. Didn't like having to pay for parking. Paid enough to stay in the hotel, it should have been included.
Great spot , dining everywhere
Great Location!
Rooftop Bar was closed due to a private event. It was my husband’s birthday so I wished I had known prior to booking.
Bed, linens, cleanliness
Very loud, you don't go there for peace and quiet. I was on the 8th floor and could still hear the loud music from the main floor. No ice machines. Towels were frayed and only two towels provided. 40 bucks a night to park there and that was not advertised. I would not have stayed there.
We did not have breakfast at the hotel.
More towels in the bathroom.
Room was clean, bed was comfortable, amenities were good.
Eggs weree not cooked enough.
Only spent one night here and it was a very short stay due to a late arrival but will definitely return. We were in town for a family funeral and found the staff friendly and welcoming after a very long day. Room was spotless , bed incredibly comfortable and shower had great water pressure. We were on the 6th floor and found it to be very quiet. It ticked all our boxes, our only complaint is that our stay could not be longer.
Staff was attentive and beds were very comfortable. The food was fantastic
The shower was a bit moldy and one of our bath towels was ripped
Floor plan, very spacious. Location. Less than 15m from my event. Contemporary decor. Security access upto the room. Friendly reception and staff
Little noisy overhead in the room above me. Awakened by the noises. Valet parking cost.
I stayed here over New Years, to get both experiences in NYC and New Jersey. My experience here was not good. The rooms were and overall scenery were nice, but hospitality wise, it was not good. Staff was rude. One of the guy bartenders were rude, he was very loud, demanding and would not let us get a word out when trying to have a conversation. The Allegory, which is within the hotel, had a new Years Eve party that me and my girlfriend did not know about until 10 pm at night because we heard drums and music from our room. We went downstairs to see what the noise was about; they said tickets were sold out and we could not be in the bar downstairs area, in the party area beside the bar, or the rooftop without a wristband that was sold out. The host told us the party and bar were separate from the hotel, and we can't enter without a wrist band. Me and my girlfriend were forced to just listen to the loud music from our room or go elsewhere in NJ where everything was sold out. We also never knew when the rooftop bar or downstairs bar was open or closed. They would also close early, so anytime we came back to the hotel around 9:30pm nothing was open. One of the nights of our vacation stay, we came in around 9pm and asked for wine. Although, they said they close at 11, they were rushing, we kept getting stared at in a way to hurry and finish our wine so they can close. We sat for about 10 minutes, as soon as we got up, they closed the area(early). Two days before this my girlfriend and I were taking pictures with her camera inside the open part of the hotel. The owner of the hotel (lady with blonde/brown hair) I cannot remember her name: but she came up to us in the sense of "what are we doing here" in a very condescending tone. After I then mentioned we have a room here, her mood and facial expression completely changed. She was like "Oh!" and continued to come up with a story to bypass the way she approached us in the beginning. Overall, we did not feel welcomed, and we felt judged on multiple occasions by the color of our skin. We will not stay here again in our future travels.
Bra och lugnt boendealternativ om man inte vill bo mitt i New York. Fantastisk utsikt till New York från rooftop.
Städerskan tog sig in i vårt rum 2 gånger när vi var inne, men bad om ursäkt.
Buenas instalaciones Buen servicio Muy limpio
The room was pretty.
Too pricey for area and amenities.
Close to everything
I needed a short stay. When I arrived at this beautiful palace, I was very pleased and very comfortable. The lobby was beautiful and sparkled. The attendant was very attentive. made me feel very comfortable. My car was valet, parked for me. I was given instructions with just a click on my phone and my car would be waiting for me right up front. there. My room was perfect very comfortable I couldn’t ask for anything else. I’m very familiar with Montclair, but I had no idea that this palace was hidden right in front of my eyes. There’s an awesome rooftop lounge. Drinks & music just perfect. I got up & had a delicious à la cart breakfast. This MC Bonvoy is a perfect 10 for me.
Nobody wants unto help us. They took too much money for our next day of stay. Then I decided to check out and didn’t get my moment back
Nespresso machine with good quality pods in the room. Quiet.
The hotel was mediocre at best.i had been expecting a high end experience, given the price, but in fact it was nothing special. The bathroom lacked a shelf for toiletries and the water pressure was inadequate. There was not enough lighting in the room. It was further from the center of Montclair than I had expected.
Well located hotel on Montclair’s main drag, with countless mid to high-end restaurants nearby, representing numerous cuisines. All the staff I encountered were sincerely warm and friendly, not just putting on an act or going through the motions. Room was comfortable and a good size and provided a sound nights sleep. While I typically stay in other areas when visiting our office 15mins from here, I’d much rather stay in a neighborhood property like this rather than a freestanding hotel in a campus-like setting. Will definitely return.
The stay was very good, but 2 things popped up that takes a star away. The in-room coffee maker had no directions and deep down a Keurig K-Cup would have been a better choice (kind of idiot proof). The mattress was almost unsleepable (I see this as a valid word, but spell check is not happy - sigh). I can see why you could not have a room full of different densities, but maybe a Sleep Number might work for a high ended hotel. My old back needed a firmer choice and for some reason the King seemed a tad small - maybe my perception. Ok 2 more (on a roll) you need a 2nd hook in the bathroom for towel hanging if you don't want to change out towels daily. And lastly - is 1 ply TP/tissues really a top choice for a 4-star establishment?
This was my sixth time staying here . I stay at this hotel every time I visit NJ as it’s close to where my brother lives. I really enjoy this hotel, The room was great and very clean. The service at the front desk is very friendly. Did not eat in the restaurant so can’t comment on that. Look forward to staying here in the future.
We stayed in their most expensive room, a 1 BR suite on the 7th floor on the Bloomfield Ave. side. When we returned from our evening out around 10 and prepared for bed, the music from the rooftop bar was loud. At 11:30 I called down and asked to be moved to another room away from the music. I was told nothing was available on the other side of the hotel. When we checked out in the morning I suggested to the guest services agent that people who request rooms on high floors under the rooftop on the weekends should be told that they will hear loud music until it closes at 1AM, and that my request to be moved the night before couldn't be accommodated. Her response was "Oh". Really???
Great stay, great hotel, great rooftop bar. Amazing staff. Valet parking on point. Great guys. Highly recommend. Thank you!
Hard to park and find a road that was not blocked by window washers, staff almost non existent except for very nice housekeeping, some kind of repairs in lobby, smelly elevators, room was ok.
Very close to our final destination.
We didn’t realize that the parking had EV chargers until we drove miles to charge and came back to park. I wish it was more clear.
So, the hotel is centrally located in the heart of Montclair. Whatever cuisine you could ponder is less than a 20 min ride from the hotel. Staff was amazing. Housekeeping was at our room no later than 12pm each day of our stay. Definitely would recommend this hotel.
