The property was nicely maintained and staffs were helpful. Rooms were gigantic, having good vibe with nice washrooms.

Small low noise wall fans in the hay roofed seating portico besides the Roopnarayan river and the balconies attached to rooms would make these places truly bearable and accessible in the high humid and warm gloomy weather that this place has for ost part of the year. Also, the price of the hotel was high even when booked from booking.com itself by about 40%. After booking as I rechecked in other apps and through booking.com it was much lower. Since we had booked for weekdays 3days prior to stay there was no free cancellation and even after request the property refused to refund differential or cancel for free. They said in direct booking through their own hotel website or in call they can provide 20% additional discount. The food was average, not worth the price and level of ambience/infra the property has. Also booking.com listing do not mention ground floor/higher floor, so check that before booking of u prefer higher floor for river view. The property has rooms at 4 levels including ground floor.

there’s a very small pond where paddle boat and fishing options are there but they are chargeable for room guests and quite high according to the pond size , toiletries in the washroom could have been more , only one pair of sleepers provided for 2 guests, handtowel in basin area - these very small things could have made more attractive stay

We were totally disappointed, and booked a premium room Rs 7770 per day for two days. 1. The reception staff is very rude, They show no respect to Guests, typical west bengal culture. 2. The room was not cleaned, bed sheets not changed, towels not changed, toiletry not provided. 3. The restaurant was horrible, they didn't even provide a glass of water during dinein. The staff seems to be under the influence of drugs. Don't respond. 4. Food served is cold 5. There is a total lack of culture, education and hospitality. 6. The management seems to be totally unconcerned, chalta hai attitude 7. . The outside area is full of mosquitos 8. Drivers staying arrangements are worse.Charged Rs 950 per night. 9. Road condition from Highway to your property is very poor. Even it is risky. We went by our new BMW & it was scaring.

I like the breakfast , location , food quality, inside lawn and overall the behaviour of staffs. I visited two times this year with my wife and family.

The room is clean and tidy. The view is awesome . Very peaceful property near rupnarayana revier..

The room's walls have lots of seepage, even a bathroom wall needs maintenance. Rooms are dusty especially near the tv cabinet and t.c.m area. The shower diverter is so hard and not easy to open.

Very good location just beside the river. The room and linen were decent and clean. The buffet breakfast had sufficient varieties. Check-in and check-out were smooth, hassle-free. All calls were answered very promptly by the housekeeping staff.

The preparation of ala carte orders were not upto the mark and needs improvement.

I liked the property, maintenance, cleanliness, specially loved the pool. Ambience was good though there was no river breeze may be due to the weather but location was good. Tea was nice atleast I liked it very much.

I stayed there for 2 nights, in a family suit and noticed few negative points 1.Food was not upto the mark according to price , fish was stinky and chicken was very hard to chew, others were not also very much good ,not satisfactory. 2. There was no shaving mirror and hair dryer in the bathroom. 3.we stayed in a suit room , although there was no smart t.v. rather cable t.v. was there where most channels were unavailable but they will do the recharge when asked channel wise. 4. There was no door , not even a curtain between two inter connected suit room which affects the privacy in terms of a.c. temperature and put on / put off the lights etc

For the price they are charging the rooms could have been more clean. There were hairs lying around and a lot of dust in the room. Bedding and mattress could have been cleaner as well.

The supplementary buffet breakfast was awesome. The place is quiet,homely and comfortable. The property is on the bank of River Ganga and the view of the riverside is really mind blowing.

Big red flag... In the evening they open the gates of the property to general public (day visitors) for a resto bar within the hotel premises, and the whole place is teeming with people... You actually have to stay cooped up in your room.. this was not mentioned anywhere in the site and during booking... someday it may lead to security issues ....

Cooking. Mutton kossa, Ilish preparations were very substandard. Those items r every household daily cooking almost in bengal….but were very substandard at HSB. And very expensive kitchen against very substandard cooking.

At Hotel Sonar Bangla Kolaghat, a simple Bisleri water bottle that costs ₹20 is priced at ₹116, making it a smart choice to carry your own water to avoid unnecessary expenses. Since it was my husband’s birthday, I had made a special request both on Booking.com and directly at the hotel for a complimentary birthday cake and little decoration in our room to surprise him. However, room decoration was out of question. Hotel Sonar Bangla Kolaghat charged us ₹900 without prior notice or approval. They should have clearly communicated the cost beforehand instead of surprising us with unexpected charges on the bill.

Food quality, especially for the prize, has a lot of scope for improvement. Need to benchmark with some good resorts and upgrade facilities, cleanliness, food, and service.

Dear Sonar Bangla,                         It was a nice stay with Hotel Sonar Bangla. But I want to mention some points which I faced during the stay. The property is now under maintenance. Resturant is not ready and we had to take food at our room. This is not expected and not hygienic in my point of view.   Food quality is really average.  For example the evening snacks was too salty to eat.Apart from this we have enjoyed the moments. Thanks 🙏

Rooms were well maintained,but restaurant service was poor as half of the basic food ordered they denied , as they were very rigid on food delivery and on scheduled timing and was not flexible enough, as we have gone for holiday such rigid measures doesn't apply for any tourist. We also had to follow up on tv repair several times till it happened.

Breakfast was good. But the other properties of Sonar Bangla serves better breakfast spread. The food taste was good. The location near the river was good.

Ongoing construction activities within the premises was creating a number of problems such as 1. Dust 2. Noise 3. Blocking the beauty

Room light is too poor, so authority arrenge a seperate extra light for us. Overflow toilet water out side the toilet after bath. Instead of good house keeping service it was irritating. And need a besin inside the toilet.

The staff did not come to pickup the plates. The plates were there until the next day until we checked out. The hotel charged cgst and sgst on packaged drinking water of total 80 RS which has MRP of 30 RS only. I am filing a lawsuit against this improper billing.

The a La Carte items and in general ordering any and everything was very expensive. The prices charged don't match the quality of food. The Food was decent but not gourmet and hence the price should be adjusted accordingly

Breakfast was reasonably sumptuous. Quality was also standard.

Staff response was late. For little things like delivering the baggage to the room, we had to wait for 45 minutes as no staff turned up despite the reception counter giving them a call. The room was not equipped with all the amenities and every time we had to ask house keeping for a pair of slippers, or a shaving kit. There were a pair of bottles whereby it was mentioned complimentary purified water, but the bottles were empty. Only on demanding water, were we given the same.
