Quietness but not temote

No accessibility for the disabled. No facility for “go to breakfast” or drink. Unhelpful staff member at breakfast almost dismissive attitude

The bed was comfortable and I slept well. Generally clean. However the hairdryer was SO old I didn't dare plug it in! The mug provided was like a thimble. The TV was on a side wall facing away from the bed. I didn't get breakfast as they serve later at the weekends which was a shame and no offer was made to even provide some fruit to eat in the morning.

To be greeted with "you're early" wasn't the best start! And having to ring a bell and wait was a bit off putting. Luckily it wasn't raining!! I'd rather there were no plants anywhere than plastic ones too. Apart from the owner and his "delightful" greeting I didn't see any other staff. Having to find somewhere close to Romsey at short notice left little choice but I won't return!

We had a twin room. The beds were comfortable for a good nights sleep and the room had everything we needed. The location was good for us. Dinner was great, and the lady serving was really nice and friendly. The cooked breakfast was excellent, and the guy serving was nice and friendly. There was also plenty of fresh fruit, cereal & yogurt, so that set us up really well for the day! We’ll definitely stay again next time we’re at the New Forest.

Owners were very welcoming. Plenty of parking. Pleasant surroundings. Room was nicely furnished.

Disappointing that there was no service of the room on second day as I would have expected this. For example none of the tea making products were topped up, the bed was as I left it and the bathroom sink wasn't cleaned. If this is to be expected then this information should be provided.

The team were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast offering was good and the cooked breakfast particularly generous in portion size and very tasty. The bed was comfortable and all the bed linen and towels were spotlessly clean.

Aspects of the accommodation were tired and worn. The stair carpet was stained and looking the worse for wear, not a great first impression when walking to your room.

I was looking forward to a cooked breakfast but it was just a continental one. The location was excellent for the things I wanted to do.

The ensuite was a bit small.

Value for money and the breakfast choice exceptional . Plenty of fresh fruit and berries , meats and cheeses . Great coffee

Easy to check in, lovely location, lots of parking, good acces to main roads. The owners were friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was wide ranging, good choice, particularly loved the fresh figs and parma ham! Would definitley recommend it and use again

Property was abit dated and in need of updating. There were cobwebs in the bedrooms and dining room area. And looked like it needed a good clean. Busy road near property running traffic all night. Shower had crack in shower tray. And bathroom window wouldn’t close.

Great location. Room and bathroom were slightly small but clean and tidy. Towels were white and fluffy. Bed was comfortable and there were coffee/tea facilities with biscuits. Food was exceptional for a smallish bed and breakfast hotel. We enjoyed dinner of a whole Lemon Dover Sole and Brill, amazing. Breakfast was freshly cooked and you could have freshly chopped fruit, cereals, yoghurts, tea and coffee. We adapted the menu to suit us and it wasn’t a problem. Thank you for a great staycation 😁

Our shower was hot enough but lacked power especially with longer hair.

So much to praise at Le Chateau The shower was excellent - I always judge a hotel by their shower first - the bed comfortable, the room & bathroom spotless. Ample parking. But the breakfast was exceptional - I have never had such a wonderful continental breakfast. So much fresh fruit - raspberries, strawberries blueberries, melon, bananas, figs , yogurt, - 3 different cheeses, croissants....& so much more on the meat & fish front.

The location of the property is excellent. Close to the New Forest and Southampton city centre. The owners are brilliant, really welcoming and could not do more for you. The property is really clean and the rooms are lovely. This is a great bed and breakfast , with a great restaurant. The food is really fresh and cooked to order and good value for money, as is the room. The breakfast is freshly cooked, but a great choice if you want cereal, fruit or yoghurts etc. Will gladly stay here again in the future and recommend it to others.

Breakfast was excellent staff extremely helpful and willingly stored things for us in the fridge. They had Bistro but we chose not to use it but it did look nice. We used the bar and sat outside which was very pleasant as the weather was extremely hot

Super clean and a delicious breakfast

Ideally located nr New Forest And easy access to get to Lymington, Southampton and Portsmouth. Accommodation beautiful, spotless and welcoming. Food brilliant both evening meal choices and wide range of fresh delicious breakfast choices. Owners very friendly, welcoming and gave us an excellent time and will definitely revisit. Thank you for a wonderful break.

Hosts were welcoming and friendly. Very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Lots of choice for breakfast. The location worked well for me.

Wirking in the area overnight , The La Chateau was in Very quiet location , room was exactly what I needed and was very clean. Ease of instructions for access to the property via key safe outside. Toni the host was very polite and friendly , gave me a welcome message prior to my arrival .

The restaurant and Bar only opens Thurs to Sunday which I missed on the booking, was a shame as I would liked to have dined there to support the local business, but it was no great shakes, and is more of a disappointment than a criticism. There are 2 local country style pubs within walking distance so options there.

Unfortunately no fans in rooms, did ask but didn't have any, normally not a problem but extreme heat so uncomfortably hot in room. Would be good if they had available.

Excellent range on offer for breakfast. Very comfortable bed. Lovely fluffy towels. Very friendly, helpful hosts. Looking forward to staying there again.

Not a problem for me, but be aware if you have your bedroom window open you can hear some traffic noise.

The Continental breakfast was excellent, and the owner very attentive and friendly.

I was not able to arrive until 9.00 pm, so reception not open (understandably), although an alternative arrangement worked quite well.

Very clean and comfortable, lots of on site parking. Restaurant and bar on site. Food was excellent and they even accommodated special requests for my fussy hubby. Hosts Paul and Toni were very friendly and welcoming.

There wasn’t anything

The bed was extremely comfortable and the bedding and towels so clean and fresh best I have ever had perfect loved the finishing touches of the decor.

We stayed 2 nights The room and bathroom were clean! However the blinds were covered in a good layer of dust, the bins were not emptied/ or room vacuumed or bed remade these things I would have expected to be done as they have in other hotels.

Breakfast (and evening meal when we used the option) were excellent ... plenty of choice and good quality food. Really liked the dining room and bar area which was attractive and a comfortable size with a lovely view of the garden.

It would have been nice to have a space where we could have eaten our own meal /takeaway on evenings when the grill and bar weren't open ... but we respect that Toni and Paul wouldn't have wanted another space to have to clean up outside their hours.

As we stayed during the week a continental breakfast was served. The choice of food was far more than I had expected and was beautifully presented and couldn't have asked for more.

Bed was super comfy, owners were super friendly and accomodating. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully hot! Location was perfect with a little pup up the road and easy access to the forest for some nice walks.

Friendly, helpful staff, nice food. Comfortable room with tea/coffee/biscuit and basic toiletries. Lovely landscaping. Around the property. Safe, easy parking. Easy to visit Lyndhurst and go on forest walks if you have a car.

The shower pressure wasn't the best and the bathroom was cold.

The room itself was, warm, clean and comfortable with ensure shower room.

The constant emails and text's from the moment l booked felt harassing. There were no staff when l arrived a 4:45pm just instructions to let myself in. Didn't see a soul until breakfast, where l was TOLD where to sit, which was right next to the bar counter where the staff member was doing their paperwork, and wasn't relaxing. When l left, again no staff around to hand key into, when l said I don't want to be walking about trying to find somebody to give the key to, the staff member rebuked me and said 'l told you (at breakfast), to shout for me'. I'm not the kind of guest that goes round shouting, nor do l want to be. This set up is definitely not customer focused and all about making as little effort as possible and probably giving staff as few working hours as possible.

Location was great, easy to find, plenty of parking and the room was really comfortable.

Breakfast was very late (8.30am) and there were no facilities to “help yourself” to anything if you wanted a continental breakfast any earlier. Just think families would struggle not having any access to heating up a child’s milk. Room was VERY hot overnight and the sunlight came through the room/door a fair amount… all minor things but they add up when you’re paying £85 a night

I liked the chateau the room was very nice and very clean, breakfast was freshly cooked dinner was to a high standard, and within a five minute walk your in the new forest. It is and felt like a family run hotel

Although the staff were prompt and very nice there is no reception room as such the front door area is small and a little awkward, but it didn't really matter

Such a cute little place. The staff were super friendly and helpful. My bedroom was lovely and the bed was super comfortable. It was very clean. It included everything I needed and breakfast was amazing. The destination was perfect for me too. I had the best stay.

No Disabled Parking facilities. The owners take up the three nearest bays to the hotel. When I positioned my car near to the entrance to shorten my journey up to my room, I was told to move it immediately. No lift. A long, steep flight of stairs. The drinks are expensive. No cooked breakfast. Miserable hosts. Right next to the busy A27 dual carriageway. A hornets nest right outside my window.

Friendly welcome, spacious and comfortable room with pleasant view, quiet (despite proximity to motorway), above average food quality for the price.

No secure bike storage, a later breakfast than ideal – but it was Sunday

Spotlessly clean Food ok but expensive

Bedroom was very small as was the twin beds which were only 30 inches wide. Cheap basic furniture. The decor of Highland cows was over the top with five pictures of highland cows, two cushions and the light shade. Totally unnecessary. Basic tv channels on offer. Strong smell of damp at the entrance to bar.

The food was very good

Housekeeping was very poor. Came back to find the bed not made and wet bathmat still on the bathroom floor. When I asked if our room had been forgotten I was told that they don't touch a bed if it has personal belongings on it. There is no mention of this on the list of things in the room. Also that they never clean the bathroom while you stay. Maybe a quick go round if you're staying for a few nights. That is totally unacceptable. We have stayed in many hotels and Bed and Breakfast across Europe and this has never happened before. I was made to feel as if I was in the wrong for asking

The breakfast was incredible. Was included in the price and exceeded our expectations. Good portion, lots of variety and staff were very accommodating.

Everything was excellent other than the housekeeping team came in im assuming to do a clean before we stayed another night only put two clean mugs out and changed the bin and left tea stains on thr surfaces. The milks etc didn't get topped up and the bed cover had just been thrown over the bed. When we went to ask for more milk the owner came and said she'd spoken to the team member who had said she did do it all. When she clearly hadn't. Im sure this was just a mistake but id like to make the owners to know so they can better this moving forward. We will still very happy with the place though.

Very comfy bed, good restaurant attached if you don’t want to go far in the evening, and Toni couldn’t have been more helpful

Check in was easy. I was greeted at the front entrance after ringing the bell. The front door remains locked and only opened by your room key or from the inside which makes for a safe secure feeling. Parking is free and right outside the main door with ample spaces surrounding a lovely grassed area with wooden benches and trees. There is a cosy bar if required but I preferred to have a drink with my meal at my table. The restaurant had a varied menu with lots of choices. Soft music in the background made for a nice ambience. Having stayed here before, I knew that the bed was comfortable and it didn’t disappoint this time either. Although very close to the motorway, the windows make for a soundproof room. The owners here are lovely, welcoming and friendly. I’ve already booked a return stay for my next trip in this area.
