Alexandra Garden Court Motel

Nice roomy space, beds comfortable everything we needed

Had all the facilities that were necessary for a comfortable stay

A wee bit out of town

We like older motels as more spacious. Lovely peaceful quiet setting. It is like staying in a small cottage

Could do with heater and exhaust fan in bathroom.

Clean and comfy beds

Wonderful, helpful & friendly owner/staff that kindly & unexpectedly upgraded the room. All questions answered. Spacious with all the comforts of home.

Left hand side of queen beds electric blanket didn't seem to work. Unsure if this was the plug or blanket.

Located on the outskirts of town. Quiet location. Large apartment, large bathroom. Free off side parking beside the apartment. The local cat is very friendly and made itself at home in the apartment when we arrived.

A very dated motel and the apartment could be modernised. It was ok for an overnight stay, but needs updating to be more inviting. The fridge was not switched on and the cord was not plugged in. The main bed was in the lounge room. Would be better in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the lounge for other visitors.

Quaint little garden access, shower water pressure and the friendly cat that came to stay!

The bed was quite firm. It wasn’t uncomfortable, but just not snuggly.

Cosy little room with stunning gardens great place for a recharge if you have kids plenty of room to run around. Loved how the door opened up to the most beautiful garden setting. Very clean and full cooking facilities

Great retro motel. Great old fashioned service. Excellent unit with full kitchen & separate bedroom, beautiful “back yard” & children’s area. Denise is a marvellous hostess. Great price.

Would be better if internet was not limited.

Everything you need in the unit, clean & tidy. Would definitely stay again.

Quiet with good aspect over to the hills

We had a two bedroom suite with a well equipped kitchen. Our private balcony was surrounded with roses and overlooked a garden with walking paths and garden borders. Lovely

One bedroom held twin beds...my husband of fifty years and I drew the short straw and had a twin each....the only time that's happened since our honeymoon...but that's another story. Also...this review contains an American flag. We want to let you know we're Canadian.

Really lovely helpful staff in a beautiful location.

A not new motel however tastefully renovated to give a modern feel - nice outdoor area overlooking wonderful gardens

Location was great Friendly and helpful staff

The motel was easy to locate as we arrived at it driving in from Dunedin. It was set in an area with a lovely garden complete with Californian quail. It was clean and comfortable and had better cooking facilities than most with a full cooker and microwave. The host was friendly and so was the lovely cat who followed us around the garden.

One drawback was the location of the toilet from the double bedroom. There were also two steps down to the bedroom and I felt I would not have been able to get up the steps easily at night. As a result, we had to use the single beds which were more convenient.

Beautiful gardens and very comfortable rooms. The pool was an extra bonus. I can be fussy with beds but the queen I had was just as good as home.

Great parking outside unit quiet at night very clean unit

no fresh milk available but powdered sachet was i just prefer fresh milk

Comfortable spacious and close proximity to town. Staff were friendly on check in

We were upgraded to the end chalet with access to an attractive large rear garden and had a carport for the car. It was great to have a separate bedroom, bathroom and kitchen/ diner and living room. The kitchen was well equipped. Helpful host.

Next to a fairly busy road but it wasn't too noisy. Located just out of town but within walking distance of the centre.

The lady who checked us in was very pleasant. The view from the rear window of our room was over a grassy lawn with garden. The grounds were neat and well tended. The motel was very old fashioned. We had stayed here several years ago so were not surprised.

Our room was shabby and there were no mixer taps in the bathroom. The motel is a little distance from the town centre but it's not far off.

Uitzicht op de tuin en was- faciliteiten.

Niets.

Lovely, relaxing garden.

Swimming pool was closed on a hot day.

Close to town, lovely friendly and helpful host.

Cat kept coming into our room every time we opened the door.

Lovely clean room, comfortable beds. Easy parking and close enough drive to the town itself. The setting is gorgeous and I bet its amazing out in the gardens in warmer months, very pretty and well maintained.

great place good wifi nice playground for our 5 year, we did not know where we was twice but he was having a great time at the playground

i dont know, knives were a bit blunt

It was warm

It was very over priced for what it was I had purchased a family room and got charged more for each child when we got to check in. I assume when u purchase a family room that means the family. As I've never had this problem before. I would understand if I purchase a 1 bedroom and crammed my family in to this.

The whole experience was fuss free.

Nothing

All the people were friendly and the cat the most friendly.

Very amicable host. Beautiful garden

Lighting was not great . quite stark but comfortable

The room had all the amenities; it was more an apartment than a room, very spacious, clean and comfy.

I liked everything

The beautiful garden :)

No milk in fridge. And spider webs with spiders in toilet shower area

Owner very friendly and helpful. Room outdated but didn,t bother me. Clean and tidy. Good location. Nice outlook to gardens.

A deal breaker for me was limited wifi. An allowance of 4.8GB . I have never struck that in any motel except in the old days. Also "no guests allowed". My brother who was staying in another motel could,t visit. Wow. The motel is too expensive as compared to other motels that are far more modern and unlimited wifi. As nice as the owner was, I wouldn,t stay here again. Its just not good value for money.

Very friendly host, Lovely gardens to look out on and walk around. Quiet units. Enjoyed my stay

Clean and comfortable. Good kitchen facilities

Further out of town

Friendly and genuine, owners clearly care about their business

Although the motel units look quite ordinary from the parking side, as soon as you walk in you get a delightful garden view through the window. The owners have made a wonderful job of landscaping the gardens and they are well maintained. It was lovely to have a relatively private outside seating area too. Our unit was equipped with everything we needed and the bed was really comfortable.

Unfortunately the fridge hadn't been turned on when we arrived in the early evening. Luke warm beer doesn't go down so well! Everything worked okay but the unit is looking pretty dated now. Also, I would love to have seen refillable containers for the shampoo and body wash, NOT the plastic sachets that are not recyclable and end up in landfill. We try to keep landfill waste to a minimum but not everyone is conscientious about this - it would be good to see labelled containers in the units to encourage others to recycle.

Nice location, lovely garden setting. Very dated, older style - much in need of refurbishment! Well overpriced considering age and lack of any welcoming extra touchs or service. Only the most basic of supplies and equipment available eg: no milk, and communication with hosts seems to be preferred through notes left at door. Instructions on wall for doing this, along with putting your towels and rubbish outside ( with a note) if you want service. It worked , but not something we have encountered before and it felt weird. Clean and comfortable but tiny old style shower was a challenge for me - not a single photo of bathrooms should have been a clue? The lovely garden setting was the saving grace and the pool a bonus on warm days. We stayed in 3 other older motels on this trip, all cheaper and better appointed, with great helpful service and a friendly warm welcome - something that sadly lacked here 😔

Gardens very nice

Excellent location, nice and quiet. Comfortable beds. The staff are wonderful!

Gardens beautiful

The owner accused us of having another child stay when we didn’t. Also has a sign up saying no visitors which we have never come across before.

Fantastic. Exactly what you need if you’re exploring central Otago.

Beautiful gardens. Surprised how quiet it was as on a busy road. We found the plum tree and they were yummy

Couldn’t fault it.

Good room layout. Quiet and peaceful

Clean tidy unit

Loved the garden outlook and patio area

Very friendly owner. Perfect accommodation for a family.

Nice and clean, comfortable

I was a last minute booking and I think the lady was a bit annoyed. She was a bit grumpy and when I asked for a receipt she refused as she said booking.com have got the money contact them. The motel price on their own website was more expensive than through booking.com.

how helpful owner was with everything

getting up and checking out at 10am haha bed was so comfy didn't want to get up. the shampoo and soap... our trip was unplanned and didn't have any so had to use that and definitely wasn't great..

Peaceful quiet very relaxing

Very friendly meet and greet and given an upgrade to a 2 bedroom. Apartment was very clean with comfy beds and we especially liked the patio area The gardens are beautiful and immaculately kept perfect for relaxing after a busy day with a fish pond, swings and trampoline, to keep little ones entertained.
