Great staff, atmosphere, location. Amazing breakfast in the hotel.

It was in a lovely part of Derbyshire great walk part of the pennine way good for cycling I didn't have breakfast so I can't say what it was like but I did have evening meal very good the staff were excellent friendly happy in their work Please to help in fact I had two lovely days of relaxing day and would go again .

There is nothing more they can do everything is spot on .

Such a beautiful entrance outside /greeted very warmly and given information/ loved the room. Spacious, clean, comfortable bed, amazing bathroom, complimentary drinks and toiletries/delicious fresh breakfast and great service

Room no.1 not much view out of window. Wash basin very small. Last orders for food early at 8pm. Bar shut early at 10pm. With a late checkout time of 11am, breakfast could have been later say 10am instead of 9.30am.

I’ve stayed here several times and it’s pretty tidy and good value. Not far off the motorway. The staff are pleasant and helpful. The food is good.

I stopped in a small single room (27?) this time and the bathroom sink and shower cubicle are way too small; just end up with water all over the floor. I had to use my towel to mop up!

I've stayed at the Sitwell Arms several times before and always found it good value and very comfortable. On this visit, things were no different: the room was spotless, the staff very friendly and the food in the bar was tasty and good value. What I always enjoy is the cooked breakfast; it really does set you up for the day!

The hotel has a lot of weddings so it was full and quite noisy. I had a single room no.27 at the top of the stairs by fire door. It was noisy. The bathroom is tiny.

Loft room - not lake view as promised. Bathroom dreadfully outdated - water pressure very low, shower head didn't fit into housing, so had to hold it to shower. Plug didn't fit plughole.

Room was over looking the bin area the smell wasn’t pleasant and the staff all smoked in this area so the smell was coming into the room and there was so much noise from rubbish being taking out and staff chatting and then loud banging at 4am from staff trying to slam the door when complained about the smoke the staff member said well they have to smoke somewhere but it’s not good I’ll tell them and then when I went back to my room she was the one outside smoking

I did not have breakfast. Location was suitable for my needs. The room was a good size and clean.

The room was only a few feet away from someone’s wedding venue that went on very late. It was too noisy to sleep. Outside the room window were generators that hummed all night and I was woken at 6.30 on Sunday morning by staff up and down the stairs and banging doors ! None of this I expected. Next morning the staff were unsympathetic saying that the hotel is advertised as a wedding venue at the weekend. Which would have been brilliant but I wasn’t even at the wedding !!! It was a lot of money for only 4 hours sleep. I should have just slept in the car park in my car !

Sunday lunch was fantastic, no need for a sweet!! Breakfast was really good quality.

I stayed 2 nights. First night in the bridal suite as my daughter was getting married. Please invest in air conditioning in your rooms. One fan was not enough for a 3 bedroom room and you need an extra toilet putting in

Small stuffy room, shower useless, TV aerial socket broken, breakfast not great for the money, generally tatty.

Room was okay. Comfy bed.

Wedding party till midnight. No sleep at all. I thought I'm in Ibiza. If you not in the party, and you wanna have a rest and have a sleep I'm recommending to avoid this hotel.

It was in a locations suitable for our purposes

We booked a family room with double bed and single for my gf ather with dementia but he didn't come which was a blessing as half if the double bed was terrible. You layed on the bed and could feel the springs. Was sunken about 4" in the middle of the mattress. My husband had to sleep on the single bed as part of the double was so bad. I told the receptionist who apologised and said she would let someone know.

The only grumble was that the bar wasn’t open when we checked in at 2.30pm. Reception did offer to get us a drink but we were so looking forward to sitting in the beer garden on such a lovely day.

We had a spacious room that was quiet despite a wedding taking place at the hotel. The bed was comfortable & there were tea & coffee making facilities. Plenty of parking available. Breakfast was good.

The heating was on in the bathroom despite a heatwave- keeping the bathroom door closed helped to keep the room cool overnight, but at least the towels were warm & dry! We had ordered a taxi but telephone reception was poor in the room so difficult to communicate when the taxi arrived early.

The actually property is nice, it certainly feels dated in places. But the room was fairly nice and clean.

We stayed in room 001. Which due to a “Ibiza” weekend was beyond loud, and this went on until 10pm. As well as this, the door for this room opens up across from the disabled toilets which were co stanly being used by people attending the event. There was no mention of this when booking or checking in sadly.

I understand there’s functions on but we wasn’t part of them so music was very loud to the point it was vibrating our room and the shower only worked with cold water

If I had to say something it was the space in the bath/shower.As being 6ft 4 the ceiling was touching my head and made it difficult to have a shower

The size of the room, the helpfulness of Staff, the ability to book in with a person, and the food was very good.

What was there not to like?

Breakfast (if you pay extra) was good and meals in the adjoining pub bar. Parking was included and plenty of space despite constant weddings, birthday celebrations and a wake etc going on. I got my depature time wrong by an hour and Jane was good enough not to charge me extra.

A double room is two single beds so to get a double bed you have to book a family room which has a double bed and a single bed in it. We were in the old part of the hotel and the room was partially updated. The shower was over the creaky bath and my head touched the ceiling so couldn't get under the shower head. There was no wardrobe or drawers just a frame with 4 coat hangers for a family !. No drinks fridge to have a cool water drink in the night. The toilet seat was very loose and dangerous and although i reported it it was still unfixed after four days. The shaver light didn't work etc. The staff Jane and Karen offered us the disabled room along the corridor but it too had its drawbacks so we stayed where we were.

Each time I stay the staff are so unfriendly, there is never a greeting of good afternoon, enjoy your stay, no smile. This time I was greeted with borderline hostility as the staff member exasperated informed me she was in a meeting! Not my problem as a guest who has just arrived.

Great bedroom with four poster bed.

Staff were all helpful and amenable. Rooms were cleaned very well daily. The breakfasts and chosen evening meals were well cooked and presented. Good value for the money. Our rooms were changed to larger rooms downstairs as there would have been mobility issues as we were first offered second floor rooms with no lift.

The staff were all fantastic, so kind and accommodating. I was staying in the area for my father's funeral and the hotel couldn't have been kinder at a difficult time.

Slightly bigger fan in the room would have been great - it was a very hot period.

The location

Very uncomfortable lumpy mattress. Had to Waite 10 minutes before someone came to check me in even though they was no one in the bar. Being charged £50 damage deposit that wasn’t made away of before booking. I know it was standard policy. But I am a 62 year old man on route to a funeral Not a twenty something lad on way to a music festival. I think common sense should apply.

The shower was hopeless. Low water pressure and no hot water. There was a party going on in an outdoor area outside my room and was kept awake by loud drunken voices until 2am. I appreciate the hotel relies on functions but I wish they had given me a room at the other side of the building when this party was on. Cooked breakfast was literally inedible. Cook splashed far too much vinegar in the poached eggs.

No lift so hard carrying cases up to second floor, no spoons to make a drink in room and couldn’t get the tv to work

The location and the hotel were pleasant, the restaurant was nice, the rooms were light, good parking , good breakfast.

The bed was uncomfortable, flat pillows with no spare , very noisy in the car park due to events but none of the above put us off. The shower was a bit of a let down . Got freezing or red hot .

I arrived late after a long car journey. So didn’t see much, but it was nice and clean.

The room I had was small which was absolutely fine for a single room. But there is absolutely no cold water. Both taps in the tiny sink only run red hot and the shower is scarily hot! Doesn’t mix with any cold and I burnt my head trying to rinse shampoo out I couldn’t sleep properly afterwards due to my head absolutely killing. I then had to brush my teeth in hot water. The kettle wouldn’t fit infer the tiny sink taps which is bizarre they think it would but luckily I had a bottle of water with me. But then they left me no spoon only a cup to make a drink! Couldn’t stir.

The room was very clean, well-equipped, and comfortable. I had dinner at the hotel, and there was a good selection of food on offer. Breakfast was excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good car parking.

Our room was next to a door giving access to the gym which was used constantly creating noise throughout the night the morning staff were not concerned blaming cleaners but still midnight plus is way to late to disturbing clients worst night sleep .plus now 24 hours later and my deposit has not been returned.

I reported the following to the staff, the shower was set too high (even on the lowest setting it still burnt me), the toilet was inserted between 2 walls which was difficult for me to use, due to my shoulder width, the sink was tiny and I also reported that the ceiling shade could not be opened or closed without standing on the bed or a chair, I have false knees and it was a struggle and dangerous for me to operate the “shade”. The room was quiet but the experience of the room was poor very disappointed .

Room was exceptionally well furnished, very comfortable bed, and spotless shower / toilet Staff were very friendly and helpful (I needed extra coat hangers in wardrobe - provided with no problem) Food quality and service in the bar was excellent and good value (there was a discount scheme running for pre-booked meal) Will definitely stay again if in the area.

I didn't like the staff's attitude; they acted a bit like they were being punished. The sheets and towels weren't changed. I expected more facilities for childrens
