Reviewed Aug 6, 2026Vicki our host was lovely to deal with, super helpful and welcoming. The property is an older weatherboard cottage that has been beautifully made over with excellent heating and facilities, a covered bbq area, plus a lockable garage for cars. It's located in a quiet street across the road from a lake reserve and only a short walk to town.
Nothing really, it was pretty hard to fault!

Reviewed Mar 14, 2026We loved our stay at the cottage . It is an older home with renovated kitchen and bathrooms. Roomy and welcoming with a yard to relax in and a lake/park across the street. The kitchen was very well equipped and we appreciated the milk, butter, soda and cookies left for us in the fridge. The beds and furniture were comfortable. Communication with Vicki was great.

Nice outdoor area that caught the afternoon sun for sitting and chatting, over the road from the lake, and a short trip to town - either by car or walking. Also enjoyed a night at the weekly harness racing which seemed to be mostly for friendly locals. Restaurants and cafes served home cooked fresh food with great service and Hobbiton is only a half hour drive away.

The homeowner had gone to a lot of trouble to create a Christmas atmosphere. The home was well appointed, and we lacked for nothing. The garden was well maintained. The host communicated well throughout the process.

Reviewed Feb 13, 2023This was our twelfth stay on our NZ trip and was by far the best! We particularly liked the kitchen, with a full compliment of pots and pans, and crockery and cutlery. Outside we were able to make use of the comfortable chair covers and the sunshade. Everything we could wish for was provided and we had good contact with Vicki to sort a couple of queries. The property is ideally situated with a 10-minute walk to the (delightful 😊) town.
