Trang An Eco Holiday Retreat is an ideal getaway from the busy city life & an opportunity to live comfortably in close vicinity of nature. The location is excellent. It's on the bank of the Sao Khe river thus offering excellent views of the water, the surrounding greenery & mountainous landscapes. As it's an eco friendly resort, most of the interior decor & furniture is made from bamboo. It is a very well maintained & clean property. The staff are very helpful, supportive & friendly. The retreat offers a lot of amenities like a restaurant that serves great food, a lovely garden, a poolside bar & also bicycles! There are other restaurants, spa's & a mini market in the area that can be explored on feet.

We stayed at Trang An Eco Holiday Retreat during our trip to Ninh Binh. The surroundings are peaceful and the kids really enjoyed the stay, especially the swimming pool, which was one of the highlights for us. However, there were a few things that could be improved. The road leading to the property felt a little difficult and uncomfortable, especially when travelling with elderly family members. There is also a river right in front of the property, but unfortunately it was quite smelly and did not look very clean. The restaurant was quite dimly lit and felt dark even during the daytime. The food was average, and the breakfast selection was quite limited. There are restaurants nearby, but you need to walk out from the property to reach them, so I would not particularly recommend this location for elderly guests. Another important point for families with young children: there are several warnings about street dogs along the road, and we did encounter dogs in the area. Parents should be extra careful and keep children close when walking outside. The staff were not very fluent in English, which sometimes made communication difficult. Their manner also came across as a little unfriendly at times, although this could partly be due to the language barrier or communication style. Overall, the kids enjoyed the pool and the peaceful environment, but for families travelling with elderly parents, there are some practical considerations to keep in mind.

The limited breakfast, dim restaurant, cleanliness of the river area, and the need to walk out for nearby restaurants. The area also has street dogs, so families with young children need to be careful.

The accommodation itself was not bad at all, and it was clean. However, there were a few things that could definitely be improved. Unfortunately, there was an unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom, and there was also a slight damp and mouldy smell throughout the accommodation. I would strongly recommend addressing the drainage and dampness issues, as these smells can really affect the overall experience. Another small suggestion would be to provide bedside lamps or additional lighting. Good lighting makes a surprisingly big difference, especially when travelling with children. When we arrived, the whole area was quite flooded with water. Personally, it did not bother me because I am not particularly fussy, but it was more difficult for our children, especially because they are small and their feet easily got wet. Apart from these issues, we really enjoyed the location and the surrounding area. There are so many beautiful restaurants and cafés nearby, and the whole area has a wonderful atmosphere. And Ninh Binh itself is absolutely breathtaking! We travel quite a lot with our family, and I honestly thought we had already seen almost everything, but Ninh Binh proved me wrong. It is definitely a place that should be on everyone's list when visiting Vietnam. There are so many things to do and see here, and many of them are incredibly affordable. The scenery and the atmosphere are simply beautiful. We stayed for two days, and we tried to make the most of every single moment. It was also quite an adventure, which I personally loved because I am very adventurous! 😄 My European family members, however, were not quite as enthusiastic about the adventurous side of things. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay and were happy that we had the opportunity to experience this beautiful part of Vietnam.

This would make the accommodation much more comfortable, especially in the evenings. When we arrived, the surrounding area was heavily flooded with water. Personally, I was not particularly bothered by it, but it was inconvenient for our children, as they have small feet and their shoes and clothes easily got wet. These issues did not ruin our stay, but addressing them would make the accommodation much more comfortable and enjoyable for future guests.

I was there for few days, before arraving no one from the staff informed us that one of the roads leading to rhe stay was flooded. So we got stuck with our taxy driver and we needed to walk trough the flooded road by foot and carry our bagagage.

The rooms are somewhat basic, but that can be expected when you stay outside of town. Clean and correct. They have a restaurant and they cook delicious local dishes. There is a courtesy bathroom with showers that guests can use, very convenient if your departure is in the evening.

The place is very pretty, surrounded by mountains, which makes for some lovely scenery. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the swimming pool is a real bonus.

The place is a bit tricky to find, we had to take a detour in our Grab to find it. There’s also a constant damp smell, due to the nearby marshes, personally, it didn’t bother us (which is to be expected given the surroundings, but it’s worth bearing in mind).

Trang An Eco Homestay is a wonderful place to stay and relax in Ninh Binh. It has a great location, excellent and friendly service, delicious breakfasts, and clean rooms. The surrounding area is beautiful and peaceful. I would definitely recommend staying here!

What I liked most about the hotel was the breakfast in the morning and the spacious rooms. The room was large enough to comfortably accommodate a family, which made our stay more convenient.

What I didn’t like was the location. The surrounding area felt run-down and uncomfortable, and getting to the hotel was not very convenient.

Very nice and peaceful resort with amazing views of the mountains. Its a little but out of tam coc but we preferred that but grabs are very cheap and easy to get anyway

J’ai aimé le style du logement très fidèle aux photos ! L’air climatisé fonctionnait très bien et c’est un très bon rapport qualité prix!

L’eau du lavabo dégageait tellement une mauvaise odeur que nous nous lavions les mains dans la douche. De plus, j’avais vu dans un autre commentaire que plusieurs groupes venaient sur l’heure du midi et c’est plutôt dérangeant non pas le bruit, mais les gens étaient littéralement sur notre balcon et les taxis annulent la prise en charge sans cesse car les transports de ces groupes bloquent la route…

La piscina y el colchón de la habitación. Y también un restaurante que hay a unos 50 metros que son una maravilla,ellos y la comida.

Location was excellent for the unesco world heritage river landscape. Price was low and quality was high. Pool was nice on a hot day! Breakfast is included and was sufficient. Bedroom super clean and very well appointed.

Mud and ruts on the roads outside the property (not their fault) gardens of the property showed signs of flooding

Beautiful spot - the photos don’t do it justice. The gardens on the property are really nice and you can see the mountain right behind. The place was very clean and staff were nice. Pool was very nice but a bit warm. Value for money - transport arranged from Hanoi too which was great!

A bit hard to get around from here - close to the trang an boat tour but otherwise far from other tourist sites unless you have a motorbike. We were told not to rent motorbikes as it was our first time. So we only had bicycles which cost 40k per day. The food was nice but nothing incredible.

The room was so comfortable. The bed was so big and the aircon cool. We loved having our own little bungalow with the room and en-suite in. The free bikes were great to cycle around the area, we really enjoyed that. The pool was also welcome in the heat.

The area had a few mosquitoes, around the pool it could be a little uncomfortable to sit because of them. It was quite a way out of tam coc down small roads so I’d be wary with a car. But the restaurants around were lovely with paddy fields and lanterns.

The final bit of road to get there is very pot holed. Pool could do with a shade cover, a common issue.

A small, family-run place, comfortable and quiet, with excellent service and a good breakfast. They arranged door-to-door transport for me from Hanoi to Retreat and from Retreat to Sapa. Also, a big thank you to Tho as well!

**⭐ 10/10 – Amazing stay in a peaceful setting** We had a wonderful stay at Trang An ECO Holiday Retreat—it truly exceeded our expectations. We were given a very spacious room with multiple beds, including one large bed that was perfect for our three kids. They especially loved being able to step straight out of the room and reach the pool within just a few meters. The whole place is very quiet and tranquil, which we really appreciated after the busy days in Hanoi. It was the perfect spot to relax. Breakfast was good overall. On our first morning, it was served à la carte due to the low number of guests, which was completely understandable. On the second morning, we were pleasantly surprised with a very nice breakfast buffet. We really enjoyed the pool and also the beautiful surrounding area, especially the nearby Trang An boat ride. A special thank you to Mr. Phil for his outstanding service. He helped us in advance to organize a Ha Long Bay cruise, including transportation from Hanoi and onward to the retreat. Everything was arranged perfectly, and he found exactly the right cruise for our needs. On our last day, although we had to check out at 12 p.m. and our night train was only at around 10 p.m., we were kindly allowed to continue using the facilities, including the pool, and even to take showers in the evening—something we appreciated very much. Thank you again for such a fantastic stay—we would highly recommend this place!

it’s very very beautiful. the daily breakfast is delicious, we had the chicken pho, stir fry noodle, and banana pancakes. the room was clean and the AC was good. the owners are really nice and gave us good recommendations and were very helpful. you can rent bikes at the property since it’s located a bit away from the town but still accessible

The location of Trang An Retreat is an absolute slice of paradise. Tucked away from all the hustle and bustle of Tam Coc or Ninh Binh. The pool is perfect to cool off in and delicious complimentary hot breakfast was a huge plus.

The road in is bumpy, but no fault of the retreat.

Очень красивая территория с садом, свежий воздух, большие окна у домика, низкая цена. Место удалено от города, поэтому магазинов нет, но есть некоторые рестораны. Отсюда удобно добираться до лодочной экскурсии по Чан Ан комплексу.

Домики уже немного изношенные, уборку необходимо улучшить. Кондиционер не регулируется и дует холодным, поэтому спали без него включив вентилятор. В бассейне купаться побоялась потому что не доверяю качество воды.

L'hôtel est super bien situé. On est à proximité de toutes les activités. On a eu l'occasion de louer sur place un scooter. C'était vraiment pratique. Le personnel est très gentil et on nous a donné pleins de bon plan.

Les photos de booking date de l'ouverture de l'établissement et ne correspondent pas du tout à la réalité. C'est dommage !

Comfortable and good air conditioner! Had bikes for hire which was our favourite part of the trip! Close to the river for a boat ride and temples were close too! The staff were so friendly! Ling was so helpful! They had laundry service too which was really good because we had so many sweaty and dirty clothes by the time we arrived. Breakfast included was lovely!

Honestly it was a really good and comfortable stay!

The property was very nice, staff were amazing. They let us check in super early with no extra cost. The huts are in great condition and the bed is so comfortable.

The only thing that would improve our stay is maybe providing pool towels and having extra pillows on the bed. We only had two in total.

L'accueil était chaleureux et la chambre très propre et lumineuse, avec une petite terrasse dehors avec hamac sous les manguiers. La piscine est assez grande pour pouvoir nager convenablement et le tout entouré par les montagnes de karst et le début de la jungle. Le matin j'ai entendu les singes! Les repas sont copieux de de assez bonne qualité. Choisissez les pancakes aux bananes pour le pdj. Le café est délicieux. Il est très simple d'aller aux embarcadère des grottes de Trang An à pied depuis l'hôtel mais il n y a pas de panneau ; une fois la grande route trouvée tournez à gauche pour 1 km .

La climatisation était trop froid et pas réglable. La salle de bains/WC est un peu bizarre si vous êtes pudique car c'est vitré donc celui dans la chambre peut tout voir!

Auch wenn das Hotel etwas in die Jahre gekommen ist. Es passt alles zum Preis. Wer mehr will muss auch mehr ausgeben.
