A little out of the way but there’s a complimentary tuk tuk to local beaches.

I’ve stayed here 5 years ago and still one of the best hotels in Sri Lanka! My partner loved the stay too and says nothing beats this. Staff are wonderful, picture perfect views, food is outstanding and location is prime!

Out of the 6 hotels we stayed at, this hotel lacked the customer service the others had. Staff weren't rude but they weren't overly friendly or attentive either. Hot water in the shower would come and go which was frustrating. The hotel is also very isolated on the hill. There's no walking to anything else.

The staff were warm, welcoming and helped us with all requirements The breakfast and dinner were very good and worth the price. The room was comfortable and had a lot of amenities. The view from the balcony was fantastic despite the weather that weekend.

There were some bird droppings in the pool but to be fair we should have looked before we got in during the evening. Even though they looked aesthetic, the soap/ shampoo bottles were a bit of a hassle. They could be more practical with those.

An absolutely fantastic view and experience! Especially the ocean view rooms. Having the balcony made the experience even better. Food was excellent.

Nothing to dislike, but note that the hotel is right next to the ocean, but on a kind of cliff. No direct access to the beach. Can only use the public beach about 1.5 km away. Recommend going to Unawatuna beach instead, that's amazing.

Het zwembad was heel erg vies! Het restaurant was niet geweldig, keuze was niet super. De ligging van het hotel vond ik net iets te ver van de “bewoonde” wereld.

The view was nice. That’s the only thing….

We are a family of 4 (kids 8 and 11) travelling around Maleisia and Sri Lanka for 6 weeks. An amazing trip with very nice places, friendly people and beautiful hotels. Unfortunately Agnus was a big dissapointment :-( Because we really liked the Booking.com pictures, we booked this hotel for 1 night and we asked if there was room for a few more nights in advance. But first we wanted to see the hotel so we decided to book 1 night, because the price was high. When we arrived, we inmediately saw that we were not going to stay longer then 1 night. The pictures in booking.com are totally not realistic. The building looks old, a lot of maintainance is needed. The pictures show the real situation. Besides that the staff is talking and cleaning very loud, what made they woke me up at 6.30 in the morning. The building is very noisy. But what was the most dissapointing was the breakfast (see pictures). The menu says: homemade muesli. Well, this is for sure not home made… And the beans, the dry crackers, the cheese… We could not believe our eyes. This is the first time this holiday we had complains. We normally never review hotels but we felt like doing this now because this is needed to be told. And the price: around 240 euro’s for 1 night (2 rooms). Way to expensive for Sri Lanka. Unfortunately the manager of the hotel did not compensate us. He was sorry for the noise and for waking us up that early. But he thought the building was normal and the breakfast was good… He was even kind of angry with me because I complained… When we checked out, the manager walked to our self arranged taxi driver to ask him where we were going. Strange… Well, we booked a few nights at Oura Spirit, only 5 minutes away. Our first impression: wow!! Their images are real and I highly recommand this hotel. And by the way: way cheaper!! Conclusion: please avoid this hotel (Agnus). Yes; the view is nice but that is really the only thing that was nice. Not worth 120-200 euro’s per night.

We had a wonderful stay at Agnus Hotel. The highlight of the hotel is its breathtaking view, which made our stay even more memorable. The location is excellent, with plenty of great restaurants and food options nearby, making it very convenient. The staff were friendly, polite, and always ready to help, ensuring we had a comfortable and pleasant experience throughout our stay. Overall, Agnus Hotel offers a great combination of beautiful views, a convenient location, and excellent hospitality. We would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Unawatuna and would be happy to stay here again.

Nothing to be disliked about this hotel, everythings was good.

Very friendly and knowledgable staff. They are very welcoming and always try to help the guests. Foods also delicious and prices are also reasonable. There are no any hidden charges everything exactly like they mentioned in there website. They give complete detail about the hotel and facilities available when you are checked in, it was very usefull.

Vue incroyable sur la mer et les environs. Super rooftop avec piscine et bar! L'équipe est sympathique et souriante. Les petits déjeuners sont vraiment délicieux. Navette gratuite pour aller à Jungle beach et à 15 minutes de Galle en Tuk tuk (environ 600 LKR sur Uber). Un havre de paix.

Heel net hotel, alles knap voor elkaar. De locatie is op een berg, maar ze bieden tuktuk service of ze bellen er één. Doordat het op een berg ligt, is de infinity Pool wel prachtig. Bij het zwembad zagen we de aapjes in de bomen springen. Ontbijt wordt uitgeserveerd maar je hebt duidelijk een keuze.

Super bien situé, à15min de Galle et 10min de la plage. La piscine est magnifique et les chambres confortables.

Emplacement un peu loin de la ville de Galles, pas de restaurant à proximité à part celui de l’hôtel, celui-ci se trouvant sur une colline difficile d’accès à pied et certains tuktuks refusent d’y monter

Room was good, very spacious. Thoughtful touches. Balcony was great but since it was monsoon time, need to be careful as thunderstorms can get water inside the balcony. They have a free tuk tuk shuttle to a nearby beach which was quite courteous of them.

Breakfast was not really up to the mark. They did have choices of English, Continental or Sri Lankan, but apparently for Sri Lankan you need to confirm to them at 8pm the previous day. Now who is going to tell us that? They should inform the guests over the chat, if they can send other messages over to us.

Excellent hotel with a perfect location and amazing views. The food was delicious, the rooms were clean, and the staff were very friendly. Everything was well organized and exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended!

Wir hatten eigentlich eine andere Unterkunft gebucht die uns aber gar nicht zusagte. Da wir den Geburtstag meiner Tochter nicht in einem kargen Zimmer verbringen wollten, haben wir kurzerhand etwas stilvolles gesucht und gefunden. Angefangen beim Willkommensgetränk, freundliches Personal, sauberes Zimmer mit toller Terrasse, megatoller Infinity - Pool bis hin zum reichhaltigen und leckeren Frühstück. Toller Ausblick über das Meer auf das Galle Fort. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Das Hotel ist etwas abgelegen und es brauchte ein Tuk Tuk oder Taxi welches uns zum Einkaufen, Essen gehen oder zum flanieren brachte. Schmälert nicht die Einzigartigkrit des Hotels, man sollte es aber einkalkulieren.

- Front Desk staff should have more idea about Booking.com facilities guest entitled. We have wrong information during the check-in , but it has been corrected while check out by the Manager.

The venue is excellent

They do not have any room services at night, even getting a water bottle at night was a hassle.

Die Unterkunft liegt auf einem kleinen Hügel in einer ruhigen Straße. Von der Lobby sowie den Zimmern mit Meerblick kann man bis nach Galle in eine tolle Bucht mit wunderschönen Sonnenuntergängen schauen. Der Infinitiy-Pool auf dem Dach ist ein Traum. Das Zimmer hat eine gehobene Ausstattung und ist sehr geräumig. Einen kleinen Balkon gab es auch.

Die Fenster im Zimmer waren teilweise stark verschmutzt von außen. Die Bettwäsche hatte getrocknete Blutflecken, welche aber auf Nachfrage gewechselt wurde. Das Personal beim Frühstück war nicht sehr aufmerksam und wir mussten lange auf die Getränke warten. Das Essen kam etappenweise an den Tisch. Das Geschirr wurde lange nicht abgeräumt.

Location, view, staff, clean room and positive vibe We had a wonderful stay at Agnus Unawatuna. The hotel offers breathtaking panoramic views of Galle city, the coastline, Rumassala beach, and the ocean from the sea-view rooms, lobby, and rooftop area with its bar and small pool. Although the hotel does not have direct beach access, they provide a complimentary tuk-tuk service to the entrance of Jungle Beach in Unawatuna, which was very convenient. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and pleasant throughout our stay. The staff was friendly and attentive. A special compliment to the staff member who delivered our in-room dining order on 22 May 2026 — he also extended excellent hospitality during breakfast service at the restaurant and to the staff member who handled our bags. The hotel’s location and elevated viewpoint provide a unique perspective overlooking the Rumassala side of Galle Fort, the fishing harbor, and Galle city to the right-hand side. There is a small parking area available, but it was sufficient to accommodate the guests during our stay.

Absolutely loved the hotel! When we arrived we were given cold face cloths and a cold drink which was a lovely touch and well needed! The staff were amazing and very attentive. We had a sea view room which we loved! Everything we needed with a beautiful view.

First of all, I want to mention that this hotel was the last stop of our trip around Sri Lanka, so by that point we had already experienced the service and hospitality in many other places across the island. The positives: a beautiful ocean view from the room and a spacious room size.

The negatives: the staff (except for one woman at the reception, unfortunately I didn’t catch her name). The staff genuinely seemed not to care about guests at all. People walked around looking as if you owed them something. We had gotten used to friendly and welcoming people everywhere else on the island — but not here. The kitchen staff spoke as if they were doing you a favor simply by being there. I would also like to specifically mention the breakfasts — they were greasy, very greasy. After a week of those breakfasts, an unprepared stomach might suffer 😁 No one here smiles at you; the staff simply do their jobs with completely emotionless faces. Another major issue was the total lack of soundproofing. We stayed on the 3rd floor and could clearly hear screaming children from the corridor and the neighboring room at 11 PM, conversations near the reception, and other noise. When I asked to be moved somewhere quieter, I was only told, “Sorry, everything is occupied.” We came to relax, not to listen to screaming and arguments. The room itself was not bad, except for one strange detail: from the toilet/shower area, everything was visible into the bedroom because the staff had installed the curtain backwards. As a result, you could never fully block the view into the bathroom, and people in the bedroom could still see you showering or using the toilet, which was uncomfortable. To me, this place felt heavily overrated purely because of its ocean view. So if you are considering this hotel, think carefully about how much you are willing to hear everything happening around you — and do not expect the same level of hospitality you may find in other parts of Sri Lanka.

Amazing views, setting and lounge/pool on top floor. Also checkout service was brilliant - staff allowed us to use the spa shower as our taxi was scheduled for after the official check out time.

Overall service needs some improvement. Despite elements being great there were issues such as very slow service at breakfast/restaurant, times no staff were present at the bar by pool/top floor (I had to walk to reception to order drinks on occasion), housekeeping only happens if you put a tag on the outside of the door to make up room which wasn’t explained up front until I called (would have thought it makes more sense to put a tag on the door to not make up the room). Additionally, shower room smelt strange (potentially the in-house toiletries) and the pool caused the white sections of our clothes to go orange on one day - staff mentioned it could have been chemicals but were unsure.

Disappointing stay at Agnes Hotel – poor service and rude staff We stayed at Agnes Hotel and the entire experience was negative. The receptionist was not welcoming at all, and the welcome drink was poor quality. The staff overall were unfriendly and the service was very low standard. When we asked the security guard to park our brand new SUV in the covered area, he flat-out refused and said it was “only for staff.” Is this how you handle paying customers? Pathetic. The only “pro” is that they seem to read reviews, but nothing improves. The low occupancy at the hotel says it all their service is the problem. Would not recommend and won’t be returning.

Stayed two nights with family— the food was phenomenal! Bursting flavors in every bite. Fresh, generous portions, top-notch taste. Highly recommend!

The view is breathtaking. Property and Rooms are clean. Food is great. Service of providing free drop to nearby Jungle Beach is added bonus.

Limited supply of drinking water with no prior intimation. We have to pay extra for additional bottles. Airconditioner is switched On but hardly cools the room. Mind you this in peak summer. Limited options for breakfast with strict rules. Basically, the view is what you pay for.

It was beautiful, relaxing and the staff was lovely.

We paid more than our usual budget for this room based on the photos of the view. We were nervous that it wouldn't meet expectations, but the view was amazing. Watching the sun set over the bay was special. Swimming at nearby Jungle Beach was fun. The staff were great. Breakfast was good. Easy access to Galle.

It's a little way from the hotel to the restaurant street in Unawatuna. We needed to take a tuktuk.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel from check-in to checkout. The entire experience was smooth and welcoming right from the start. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to help, which made a big difference. The rooms were spotless, well-maintained, and very comfortable, making it easy to relax after a long trip. Housekeeping clearly does an excellent job. The food was another highlight—meal was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. Overall, the service was excellent throughout my stay. Die Lage ist etwas ungeschickt um gut von A nach B zu kommen. Am besten mietet man einen Roller, dann ist es eine sehr gute Lage.

We absolutely loved the pool view and the stunning view from our room. The entire place was exceptionally clean and well-maintained. A special mention should go to the rooftop—it was amazing and a great place to relax!

Новый отель. Все чисто , относительно красивый.Хороший завтрак.

Далеко от всего. Джанго бич это пляж где рядом выходят нечистоты. Надо делать трансфер в обе стороны до УНА Ватуны. Прогуляться некуда , только ехать. Бассеин на крыше норм , но по факту это понты, днем жесть как жарко , вечером сильный ветер( не ведитесь). Цены на питание выше в 1,5 раза примерно. Честно за такую цену не стоит оно того. А так смотреть вам.
