自然と調和した素晴らしい一日を過ごす事ができました。 NZで泊まった中で一番印象的で温かく創造的なそれはまるで夢の様な家でした。私たちが行った日はとても天気が悪く、ホエールウォッチングも星空も見られなかったのですが、ここに泊まれたおかげで楽しむ事ができました。写真を見るととても高いところにあるイメージがありましたが、実際は大通りからすぐファームが広がっていて行きやすかったです。子どもたちが小さい頃にも連れて来てあげたかったなあと思うほどです。こんな家で育ったらさぞかし賢く優しい子に育つでしょう😂またいつか必ず来たいと思います。近くの他のホテルと比べると予約時に値段が少し高く感じるのですが、一棟を思う存分楽しめて、動物たちとも触れ合えて、美味しいコーヒーも頂けて、洗濯も乾燥もできてバスタブもあって、ボードゲームやピアノやハープなどの楽器まで置いてあり、それを考えたらとてもリーズナブルです。広いし、どの場所にもこだわりがありくつろぐことができますし充電もできて便利です。同じ家の中でいてもそれぞれの気に入った場所で過ごす事もできればみんなで楽しむこどでぎす。こんな幸せな時間は初めてでもっとゆっくりしたかったです。

良くないところはありませんが、遅く着くと暗いので早目の時間に到着すると存分に楽しめると思います。

之所以隔了三个月才回来写这个评论，是因为不舍得太早定义这个牧场里的小房子。这真的是我们住过的体验最特别的民宿，它同时给了人很多面向的价值——一处丰富美丽、可以安心住下的居所，一个热情友善，愿意分享的本地向导妈妈，还有一些人生更多的可能性。 是的，cubby活成了我们未来想要活成的样子。真诚，热情，亲近自然，有自己的爱好，被可爱的动物包围，丰富，有趣，有忙碌充实的生活。 这些当然能从房子里各处的细节体现，咖啡机和燃气灶，十几口大小不一的锅子，来自世界各国的调料和食材——中国的朋友，我们在这看到了康师傅红烧牛肉面和小肥羊蘸料，真的，太救赎太幸福了——作为报答，我们也留下了自己在亚超买的大半瓶蚝油。后来的朋友，不用谢！ 除了能做各种饭的可爱厨房，cubby还给我们提供了新鲜的牧场鸡蛋，一些口蘑，一些青菜和西红柿。还有昂贵好吃的新西兰苹果和橙子。冰箱里满满的，一整层的饮料都免费取用，另一层收费，可以自选。 楼下有你能想象到的所有乐器，钢琴，吉他，ukulele，竖琴，卡林巴琴，手鼓。还有各种手游和桌游。你可以在这个房间里看海，发呆，看电视，打游戏，画画，洗衣服，进行整个旅途里最惬意的修整。 走出房间，农场里的可爱动物也都治愈极了。会看门的火鸡警察，叫做耶稣的大牛，叫做绵羊的牛，还有蛋蛋被染成蓝色的小羊，刚刚出生的小猪……可以想象，这个房东从早到晚忙得根本停不下来。 作为额外收获，我们学会了用气泡水机，还得到了一条观鲸的忠告：不要看别人吐的，别问为什么，老太太告诉你的话要听！ 最后，我们一定会回来的，下次回来的时候， 一定要偷一根火鸡掉下来的羽毛，另外把自己的画也留在墙上。

Highly recommend Leanne and Richard’s homestay! It’s like a magical castle, but more importantly, it feels just like home. We felt so relaxed and comfortable here, and could truly be ourselves. The hosts are incredibly kind, hospitable and full of love. They have so many lovely animals and treat them like their own children, which really touched us. My child loved playing with the animals so much, especially Percy, and the little pig Barrel. They are all so cute and kept my kid happily entertained the whole time. On the night before we checked out, my child even cried because she didn’t want to say goodbye to Barrel. We will definitely come back if we have the chance. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!

I had the most amazing stay at Cubby House! The hosts were SO welcoming and happy to show me around the farm (loved all the animals!)! This was a truly unique experience and I can’t wait to come back to Cubby House my next visit. The house was very clean, comfortable, and had literally every kitchen amenity you’d need! It’s also conveniently located and just a few minutes drive into Kaikoura.

Everything we could possibly need was provided, authentic house, fantastic views, great farm animals, so many games options, and Leanne was such a thoughtful and generous host. Really made us feel like home.

Very interesting stay. The house was more a home and well curated with lots of interesting artwork, toys, musical instruments even a piano. Kitchen is very well equipped and the coffee machine is the best. The farm animals, pets and birds, tour provided by our kind host is worth a visit by itself.

It is the greatest farmstay I have ever experienced. My parents love the place and my son even cried the day before he left the place because he loves this place too much. There are many many animals, the host is so friendly and kind to bring us around. They tried their best to make our stay comfortable~ I will definitely come back if I come for holiday in New Zealand again.

在南岛住过不少民宿，这家Cubby House绝对是目前的TOP1，真心给满分！ 房东特别热情，做事也特别周到。屋里的调料和食品摆得满满当当，冰箱里更是塞得鼓鼓的。牛奶、面包、鸡蛋都有，而且鸡蛋还是房东农场里鸡下的，吃着特别新鲜。就算你赶行程没来得及买东西也不怕，房东都帮你准备妥当了，比妈妈想得还周全。 民宿里的休闲设施也很全。不仅有钢琴、二胡、小提琴这些乐器，想玩的时候随时能弹能拉；还有各种各样的桌游，就算在这儿住上一周，也能每天玩得不一样，根本不会觉得无聊。 最有意思的是农场体验！房东会骑着越野摩托车，带你去农场喂小动物。有鸡、羊、火鸡、猪，还有超搞笑的worry绵羊，甚至能见到南岛最高品种的牛。全程都特别开心，离开农场后，我们一家人还总念叨这段经历。 已经把这家民宿推荐给身边要去南岛的朋友了，不管是亲子游还是朋友结伴，选这里准没错！

We loved EVERY moment during our stay. Our host Leanne was the best host. This house is fully equipped with anything and everything you would need in your own kitchen. Our fridge was stock with all kinds of milk and supplies to make our own breakfast. Most importantly we love love love our interaction with the animals. It’s a difficult place to leave. Our experience at Cubby House is the highlight of our NZ trip. Our stay at Cubby was the perfect end to our 9 days road trip. The location is beautiful with both ocean and mountains. Give yourself at least minimum 2 days to fully experience, explore and enjoy the farm and animals. Leanne is an EXCEPTIONAL HOST. Thank you so much for our beautiful stay.

This is hands down the best B&B I've ever stayed in. We affectionately call it the "paradise house" because everything about it is beyond beautiful, exceeding all expectations. All the amenities provided are complete and carefully selected. Leanne took care of us with the utmost thoughtfulness and kindness. The animals on the farm added so much warmth to our stay, making it truly special. We're already looking forward to our next trip to Kaikoura so we can return to the Cubby House.

We fell in love with Cubby House the moment we turned onto the driveway lined with trees which opened into paddocks for different farm animals. There is so much character to the house and the whole place, its just amazing. And Leanne & Richard have put in so much thought into each and everything, making it so comfortable for the people staying with them. It has farm view, sea view, mountain view on the outside. It has fireplace, toy area, lounge area, lazy sofa, fully stocked kitchen and fridge, balcony for the view, extremely comfortable beds, smart TV, binoculars, music system, lots of throws and rugs for the cold nights and many more things to make your stay comfortable on the inside. And what is exceptional and hard to come across even when booking through sites like airbnb is a host like Leanne and the time she gives to her guests, right from a detailed email which helps in multiple ways from shopping to sightseeing, to almost like a experiential farm tour where she takes you and introduces you to all the animals and birds, including feeding them and telling us small anecdotes about them. Its simply amazing. Our daughter loved the place and all the time spent with the farm animals. We have such lovely shories to take back of Trevor (the farm police Turkey), Lola (the deer) and more. And imagine we started 2025 like this. It was just the perfect start of the year :) P.S. - leanne provides so much kitchen stuff that its hard to go hungry and not to mention about the breakfast items like farm fresh eggs, mushrooms, bread, yoghurt, etc to help you fix yourself nice breakfast.

Absolutely nothing, and basis the discussion we had with Leanne, she is planning to add more things to this when it will become almost incomparable to any other place in the area and would be the most go to stay place :)

Leanne and Richard offer a one of a kind stay in Kaikoura. The home is absolutely gorgeous, and they took extra pains to make sure that we were enjoying our stay. Couldn’t recommend enough for either couples or a group!

Genuinely nothing to say here — the stay was exceptional

Wonderful, generous hosts. We loved meeting all the animals/ pets and had a great time feeding them. My two teenage boys and older daughter loved this place, so clearly not just for kids but all of us young at hearts. Stellar location with wonderful breathtaking views of the ranges and surrounds. We fell in love with Kaikoura! Those dawn and dusk skies are just incredible! Breakfast choices were impressive, with an array of teas, coffee machine, cereals, eggs, tomatoes, bacon, real butter, spinach etc. We felt so at home as there was flour, and cooking sauces to make preparing our meals easy. I don’t usually like cooking while I’m on holiday but the kitchen was so well equipped that it was easier to cook our dinners and enjoy the beautiful dusk skies on the verandah. Lots of board games to keep us occupied at noght and even a piano for my muso son inspired while away from his instruments at home. All in all, a wonderful place to create happy memories.

Idyllic setting, million dollar views, cosy and comfortable home, amazing farm-stay experience. This property is a destination of its own. Would suggest if booking you ensure you have enough time to simply enjoy it… meet the animals, cosy up on the couch or veranda and enjoy the views, play board games, cook, and most of all, meet your wonderful hosts. Beds all very comfy. I loved the layers of snuggly warmth with various quilts and blankets! Very well equipped for cooking and staying in if you desire. The breakfast component is amazing… we have 4 teenage boys and it is rare that there is enough food provided…. In this case we couldn’t get through it! Eggs, bacon, fruit, yogurt, mushies, spinach, juice, cereals, pancake mix…. It goes on! We just loved our stay. Thank you Leanne and Richard. You have created a very special spot.

This was the second time we stayed at the cubby house because we loved it so much the first time we had to come back with our friends to celebrate a few birthdays! The owners always go above and beyond with everything and are so friendly. We had the most amazing stay watching the aurora lights and visiting all the farm animals. Can’t recommend this place enough for a weekend away with friends, huge place with lots of space for everyone to do their own thing.

We stayed 4 nights at Cubby House and it was hard to leave. Leanne & Richard are excellent hosts, friendly & knowledgeable of the area. Cubby House is cozy, quirky & filled with everything you need for your stay - kitchen & bath amenities, games & comfort. The distance to Kaikōura is easy and looking out the windows you can see the ocean & mountains. We had a wonderful stay here and would not change a thing. We one hundred percent recommend Cubby House! Thank you.

Leanne has created a wonderful home from home in a beautiful rural setting - about 4 Km north of Kaikoura. You have the entire house to yourself. Everything possible is thought of and provided. The house sleeps 6 comfortably. The beds and bedding are excellent. Plenty of books, games, art material and more (even a piano) if the weather if poor. Outdoor decking and BBQ for good weather - with spectacular views over Kaikoura (see below). The kitchen is amazingly well equipped, with a loaded fridge and so much more provided. Much of the food and provisions are fresh and provided free - and any extras can be paid for or replaced. There is even a professional Italian-style coffee machine. The house itself is beautifully restored with a lovely log burner for cool evenings (Leanne had it lit and ready for our arrival). The driveway to the house is an adventure in itself, with a welcoming committe of geese, turkey, fawn (yes, remarkably tame young deer) and sheep.

Nothing at all!! We could easily have spent a week here - loads to do in and around the property and in Kaikoura. Like so much of our New Zealand trip, we needed more time and were sorry to leave after just two days! Leanne is an absolute gem of a host.

Everything here was perfect! The hosts were attentive and gave us a tour of the property which was wonderful. The house was extremely well equipped. The view was spectacular even though the weather wasn't perfect for us. We enjoyed everything and wished we could have stayed another night!

The house is the most equipped house you will ever find- We had a very comfortable stay in the lovely two story accommodation with great views in the farm. You will be wowed just by the views ! Leanne is such a lovely host. She brought us round the farm and introduced us to the animals. The house also had a warm fireplace and she made sure we had enough heating. Kitchen was more equipped than my own home so super easy to cook anything you’d want. Bathroom had its own heating and we all had cosy hot baths. Two TVs in the house and lots of games to keep everyone occupied if need to stay indoors. Could have easily stayed here for weeks and weeks !

comfort of a home with lux of a holiday.. we had everything we needed, without the need to even go to the supermarket.. the kitchen was fully stocked with dinner and breakfast ingredient. my toddler had snacks and pouches and yogurts etc. tv we’re huge and full of things to watch…and the toys are abundant for both kids and adults! fireplace was warm and was started before we checked in so it was cozy and warm. location is great we love hapuku the quieter side to kaikoura but only a 7min drive to town. great if you surf it’s next to maungamanu beach etc. all in all, good value for money and highly recommend.

Fun, eclectic, unexpected, delightful! Cubby House Stay was an amazing experience. Totally unexpected, unique and a heart filling delight. Stunning location with views across the farms to the ocean one way and the spectacular mountain vista the other. The Cubby House itself was just plain fun, like being a kid again. This is a fantastic place for a family with young children to experience a taste of farm life. Leanne and Richard could not have been more wonderful hosts. Meeting and becoming friends with all the animals was the highlight of my trip.

Our stay at Cubby House was the highlight of a trip full of wonderful memories. The hosts were amazing and so generous with their time. We fed the incredibly friendly animals in the morning and got to know each one. The kitchen was stocked with everything imaginable. The house was as charming and cozy as a house can be. The views were fantastic from the balcony and we saw a sky full of stars at night. And the thing I will never forget is holding the newest member of their family: “Jolene” the deer fawn, just a few days old. Our only regret was that we stayed for just one night. We should have stayed for a week! If you go to Kaikoura you MUST stay here.

the place is amazing. Heaps of cool things like a working cassette player, old books, lots of cool toys for the kids. Moreover, the house is setup completely for family with small kids(6,4 and 1 years old) had an amazing baby cot, a gate on the stairs, kid suitable cutlery and plates. we were welcomed by amazing views and an awesome breakfast and well staffed kitchen. You simply don’t have to do a thing but sit down, enjoy the scenic views of the bay, mountain peaks dark night sky and sounds of silence. The short tour in the farm was a great attraction for the kids. The hosts gave us some great advices as to where we should be going and what to do. We will be booking here again. This is a great booking for travailing families.

Everything! The host, Leanne, has really thought of everything … and then some! We loved the location just 10 minutes from Kaikoura Centre with epic views of the mountains, valleys, and ocean. Being a bit more “rural” allowed for the view and for the farm stay experience (if you so desire it). We loved getting to meet all of the farm animals and learn their rescue stories and will forever hold Jolene, the 5-day old Farrow deer, in our hearts. The home itself is perfect for a family or couples traveling together as there is plenty of space to spread out and seek privacy, too. The coffee machine is amazing, having access to the washer and dryer a life saver, and there was not one thing we wanted for … and, believe me, we tried to rise to that challenge! We opted to cook at the home with the generous provisions provided and left pay-it-forward NZD to replenish for the next guest. The cubby house is the home away from home that you’ll wish was actually your home!

This is more than just a stay, this was an experience. The house was wonderfully decorated with a well supplied kitchen and a bountiful make your own breakfast set up. The view was amazing. from the hilltop you can see mountains and the ocean and the bucolic scenery with the fantastic animals wandering below. We had a wonderful time, feeding the animals with LeAnne who was a gracious and accommodating host. I highly recommend this stay to have a truly kiwi experience.

Fantastic property and hosts with absolutely everything you need for a relaxing break. Best accommodation we’ve stayed in during our 3 weeks touring the South Island. It has enough sofas for 4 adults to sit comfortably which is rare! Great location to either relax and stay local or to use as a base to explore further afield. Friendly and helpful hosts who go out of their way to meet guests needs. Turkeys, chooks, cows, sheep, pigs, goats, birds, dogs and cat were an added bonus to say hello to. Sad to leave.

From the moment we booked we knew we'd made a great choice! Leanne was an excellent communicator leading up to our trip and on arrival met us as the property to take us on a quick tour and introduce us to some of the menagerie (I miss Merle and Freckles already!). The property didn't disappoint. The views are spectacular and varied, overlooking farmland, mountain ranges and the ocean. Inside was just as interesting with lots of lovely artwork by previous guests and plenty of quirky decorations. Cubby House is really well-equipped and we were pleasantly surprised to find a stocked pantry, plenty of fridge items, a fruit platter and even a top-notch coffee machine stocked with fresh, locally roasted beans (yum!). On arrival I said I'd never want to leave and due to an unexpected medical event our 2-night booking turned into a week. Leanne and Rich couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful as we navigated the medical system and ensured hubby got the treatment he needed. They looked after us as if we were old friends, checking to see how we were going, dropping in additional supplies and keeping the firewood topped up! Although we didn't get to complete our holiday, Cubby House was the perfect location to recuperate and recharge. Cubby House has everything you could need for a relaxing, comfortable stay - with or without kids. We'll definitely come back when we return to NZ to finish our travels :)

The generous host! Leanne was amazing, took time to show all the animals to our kids, and gave our kids food to feed them. The house is very cozy and well equipped, we brought some of our own food for breakfast but wouldn’t have had to, the fridge was full of food for us when we arrived! Richard also brought us fresh eggs, and Leanne showed the kids how to look for more. The kitchen has everything you could wish for, it’s well equipped and everything is shining. The coffee machine is fantastic. The beds are very comfortable, the view is to die for, there are plenty of boardgames for a rainy day - the kids did not once ask for their screens. Would recommend this place to everyone!

We arrived to Cubby House Stay after 2 weeks at a family wedding in NZ. Visitors from the UK we felt emotional having just said goodbye to family to travel back down to Christchurch airport. We stayed at Cubby House stay for 2 nights to break up our journey and wow what a hidden gem. We booked 2 nights because other reviews had said it is a must to stay more than 1 night. We second that. We would even suggest staying 3 nights + if you can. It is a tranquil retreat. A home from home. We instantly felt comforted and at home. Leanne & Richard are the nicest people you could meet, nothing was too much trouble or too much to ask. We didn’t want for anything. The cubby house was supplied with absolutely everything you could possibly need and more. Food supplies so much so we didn’t have to go to a shop whilst there. Fresh hen eggs from the chickens. Toys galore for our 10 month old to keep her entertained, high chair, safety gate, every thing you’d need at home for a baby. For us the comfiest bed that was sprayed with lavender pillow spray to help us relax & unwind. We had the best nights sleep we’d had for nearly 3 weeks! It didn’t feel like being in a hotel bed with hotel pillows, it felt like sleeping at home. The biggest comfiest sofa you sink into to watch a movie. We had breakfast al fresco. The views were breath taking, we could see the whole coast line, at night the stars lit up the night sky, we’d wake to bird song, & Brian the peacock perched on the balcony to wish us good morning & the goats and freckle the pig would race down the side of his fence to greet us excitedly, Shelly and Mabel the ducks too. As we’d drive in and out the turkeys hoppy and Trevor would greet us on the driveway. Leanne & Richard kindly took us on a full tour of the place and introduced us to all the animals which our daughter absolutely loved! It was great fun & I’ve never seen a cow so big as Jesus the giant 6ft + cow. You honestly couldn’t beat this place.

I love the varieties of the amenities. Farm animals were so cute. Our family had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. There was plenty of room for a group of 5 of us.

Nearly everything. The view is spectacular! We loved the atmosphere in and around the house. The fire place is a great plus. We loved the animals all around and the very friendly and helpful and warmhearted hosts. Leanne provides her guests with a lot of food, fresh eggs from their own chicken and a barista coffee machine. Highly recommended.

lovely friendly hosts, generous with time and sharing their space and farm animals, taking photos, yummy extras, they made us feel so welcome. patiently helped with our son who was very fearful initially of the animals

this is the most well equipped airbnb we have stayed- coffee machine, soda machine and even batteries! the animals are so cute, turkeys will come to welcome you each time you come back. our host is great! you will love this cottage like us. it's a pity that we couldn't make it for the feeding experience, will defintely come here again if we come back to NZ!

Quirky house on a farm in a quiet location. Owner had thought of everything to make you feel at home including a fully stocked fridge and freezer. We had a warm welcome from Trevor the turkey and enjoyed meeting the lamb, piglet and many more animals. Great views and comfortable sofas and beds. So good we extended our stay there.

If the owner could have arranged for the mist to lift so we could have appreciated the view more that would be great. Apart from that it was perfect!

Leanne gave us a personal welcome. We arrived at the place and were greeted with such warm hospitality.

We loved staying at the Cubby house - it had everything we needed (and so much more!) to entertain our children and relax ourselves and soak in the farm yard surroundings! There was great communication with Leanne and it was a good location for being near the beach and not in the town! Just perfect for a family get-away!

Fantastic location,and warm and friendly greeting from hosts, (and Trevor the turkey). Great family facilities, lots to explore and some very friendly farm animals.Only regret is we hadn’t booked longer. An 11 out of 10 stay and fantastic value

The moment we walked in it felt like home. Leanne had fruit and enough food in the fridge to cover a late night meal. I was so impressed with all the details. Also, the view was fantastic!

I visited the artists retreat for a night with my husband, daughter, sister and her family. We had the most wonderful stay. The views from the property are incredible (snow covered mountains in one direction, beautiful coastline in the other). The property has everything you could need and more! There was a whole toy chest which was great as we were travelling with 2 young children, board games, a guitar, soda stream, barista coffee maker…the list goes on! The hosts left us items to cook breakfast in the fridge which was so long, as well as other pantry items and kindly gave us a tour of the property and all their amazing animals! We wish we could have stayed longer and would recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Kaikoura.

Wonderful property- the fire was lit and the home warm when we arrived, music was playing softly and choc chip muffins were ready. We enjoyed a walk around the property meeting many of the animals- piglet and ducklings a clear highlight. The views are incredible and the home is very comfortable. It will be a clear highlight of our NZ trip and I really hope we can come back to visit one day - next time we will stay a week.

The property was lovely and spacious. The views are truly exceptional, both of mountains and sea. Our host was extremely friendly and gave us plenty of useful information. She also has stocked the house with plenty of food to make your stay even more comfortable! Thank you very much, would recommend for anyone visiting the kaikoura area!

Thanks to the lovely hosts who made a huge effort to ensure we enjoyed our stay. We met all the animals and enjoyed our relaxing night at the quirky house.

Amazing experience. Even if we weren’t doing anything else in Kaikoura just staying here would have been worth the trip!
