Perfect place for a weekend getaway

Absolutely nothing. It was perfect

We loved the retreat that is Glenburn Coastal Retreat. The little home was perfect in every way, from the lounge room and fireplace, beautiful bathroom, modern and well appointed kitchen and hidden laundry with all you need for a comfy stay. The bed was so comfortable with an ocean view to die for as you go to bed and then wake up to…… did I not mention the view also from the lounge room ? Snow capped mountain peaks that are literally on the back door step. Thankyou so much to our hosts, you have done a fantastic job in setting up this lovely retreat. Whenever we are back in the neighbourhood we will be sure to stay again, maybe a bit longer. Thankyou again Gus & Kerry.

The location was superb and the amenities exceptional.

Beautifully situated on a bluff overlooking the water. Extremely clean. Very well organized with all facilities that you would need.

Glenburn was an ideal place to stay to enjoy Kaikoura. The views of sea and mountains are wonderful and the house is incredibly well appointed. We enjoyed amazing stars and incredible sunrises. Highly recommend.

Setting was beautiful. Well appointed.

The view was out of this world! We loved using the binoculars to see the dolphins jumping out of the ocean in front of us.

A pack of cards or a simple board game would have been an awesome addition to the stunning accomodation

I love the stay....

Classy cottage, tastefully decorated with comfortable bed, great views and lots of personal amenities. The owners graciously let us check out a bit later in a rainy day.

The views are amazing, the bath was top notch, and the property was roomy with quality amenities.

Some of the windows were a little bit smudgy upon entry.

The cabin was exceptionally clean, tidy, spacious and luxurious. The surrounding and view was nice as well

The epic views

Beautiful, spacious cabin in a stunning location. The setting is peaceful and scenic, and the cabin itself is fully equipped with everything you could need for a comfortable short or longer term stay. We loved having the fireplace with plenty of space to relax and enjoy the surroundings — a perfect spot to unwind and take in the natural beauty. Highly recommend!

Stylish and sophisticated accommodation. Fantastic views of the Pacific in front and mountains behind. Quiet and peaceful location a few minutes drive from the town and all facilities. Perfect oasis for tired travellers with all our needs met including laundry facilities and great coffee machine. Beautifully planned accommodation which showcased the views. We even saw the Milky Way from the deck at night and dolphins swimming past early morning. We wish we could have stayed longer.

This is a lovely place to stay, but you need a car. It is a bit of a walk to the beach and you must drive to get to any shops. We were happy to stay there. It is spacious and comfortable with beautiful views.

Living in Europe, you get used to seeing people everywhere, so I did feel a bit nervous out on a walk/run by myself.

This place is amazing! What’s not to love about sleeping facing the ocean, seeing a sky full of stars and soaking in a tub, open to the outdoors, listening to birdsong? Every comfort and detail is totally thought out.

Gorgeous place to stay for a couple of nights and relax! Such a great place to come back to after busy morning out and relax! Easy location close to town Amazing bath looking out to Mountain View’s and when the sun did shine looking out to sea on the front patio was brilliant!

Wi-fi unreliable at times

We only stayed one night but Glenburn Coastal Retreat has it all. The location is just outside the town of Kaikōura with both an unobstructed ocean view and a gorgeous Mountain View depending on where you are in the cottage. The cottage was spotlessly clean.

Nothing not to like

I had been in the South Island for 10+ days and this is the best stay I have had - spacious, clean, spectacular view, good facilities (bath, stove, BBQ…etc). Location is fine which is just few mins drive from the centre. Superb value for money and the host is friendly.

Hard to think of one really.

What didn't I like?! This cottage was amazing, the facilities were very high end and the view on either side of the cottage was just breathtaking! My partner and I will definitely be back and I will recommend to friends and family.

Feather blanket under duvet which we didn't notice and both have allergies too.

Everything! Beautiful location, very secluded, which was also desired on our part, as we wanted to relax here for 5 days / 4 nights before our return journey. The furnishings are very high quality, kitchen well equipped, TV with app function. The bathtub is amazing. Saw dolphins twice from the bed with the telescope (also available in the house). The terrace at the back is quite sheltered from the wind, I could even sunbathe at 16 degrees and I wasn't cold. A clear recommendation!
