Great location, excellent service and staff, delicious breakfast buffet.
Tolle Lage.
Location
Tiny room and very expensive.
Location and staff
The noice from the construction every day at 8 am, very annoying. This I think should be warned at the moment of the reservation, it is not fair to find this as a surprise
Quality, comfort
The street noise from trams. Looking for a quiet room without success.
good location, close to train and trams. 5 min walk to harbor as well as shopping district. Room was great and big. Gym was good for a basic workout and the sauna was big. Breakfast was excellent and the bar was a nice spot for a drink.
Nothing.
Beautiful property and location. Breakfast is top class.
This hotel was quite nice but not exceptional. It’s within an easy 20 min walk to many major sights(Munch museum, akershus, etc). It is right across from train station. There are numerous restaurants nearby. Breakfast buffet was nicely done. Beds were pretty comfortable. Room size was fine. Room was a bit warm with inadequate cooling options. Property looks a little tired. We were overall satisfied with our stay but felt property didn’t quite live up to price charged
Location, Location, Location. Central Location Was very easy to walk to most sites Food good Can very easily walk to Train Station. Staff at front dest were very friendly and helpful Taxi service right outside the front door Would stay here again
What a beautiful hotel. The staff is wonderful, the rooms are amazing, the breakfast is delicious and it’s convenient to everything. We were able to walk to the train station, bus station, the Opera house, great restaurants. Awesome shopping and close to the hop on hop off bus. It was very clean and safe. We lived the hotel and definitely where it was located,
My wife and I arrived here yesterday for a last minute 4 night trip. We’ve been here one night so far with 3 more to go . To say we are disappointed is an understatement. When we booked we weren’t told of the large construction project going on next door …we were woken up this morning with huge ‘drilling’ ? …this has happened again this afternoon when we returned from a day out and tried to have a nap. The room is tiny …no room even for a chest of drawers to put clothes. We have a king sized bed in the room but the duvet doesn’t even cover the mattress so my wife and I had a comical night last night of pulling the little duvet from each other …we’ve asked and they’ve supplied two single duets as they’ve said the one we had was the largest …what a joke! On the plus side every single member of staff we’ve met have been very helpful and friendly. I also tried to use the sauna steam room area this afternoon but was at a loss …no staff about so no idea about protocol etc …had to go to reception to be told …change in your hotel room and go down to sauna etc …no changing room in sauna/steam room and no advance warning of protocol …all in all we aren’t looking to our next 3 nights here …I messaged the hotel about 2 hours ago and have yet to receive a response
This was a great hotel and a fantastic base for exploring Oslo. Having never been to Norway before and having only two days to explore Oslo, I booked through Amex really without much information on the hotel itself other than that the photos looked nice and the reviews were good. After staying, here are the highlights: 1) Location - it’s next to the central train station and a major public transport hub, so getting around is super easy. Unlike other train station neighborhoods across Europe, it didn’t seem that there were any seedy or unsavory elements in this area. And Oslo is quite walkable too - from here, it’s easy to walk to the opera house area or the royal palace, and pretty much anywhere else. 2) Rooms - small, but I understand that that’s the expectation in Norway as the cultural expectation is that rooms are for sleeping and the rest of the hotel is for living. They are well-appointed though, and the room I stayed in was themed with decor from the history of the Norwegian-America line, for which the hotel is named, whose headquarters was originally in this building. 3) Dining - I only dined for breakfast, but the buffet was large with a lot of choices, and there was a cooked to order menu as well. The food was tasty. 4) Hotel bar - This was, without a doubt, the highlight of the experience. The cocktail menu contains a fictionalized account of a captain’s view of an old ship voyage from Norway to the USA, with drinks themed for each entry, and the inventive selections mean that the bar has earned a reputation for being one of the best in Norway (a local came in while I was there and actually relayed that info to me). Additionally, Chris and the bar staff are happy to answer questions about the drinks and engage in conversations about things to do, places to eat, how Norwegian society works, etc. Without them, I would have merely had a great time in Oslo; with the conversations we had, I came away with a much deeper understanding of the city, the country, and the culture.
We stayed here for a few days and th location is great. Next to the train station and easy walking distance everywhere. The staff at check were efficient and friendly. The rooms as a little small but very comfortable and stylish.
I have many positive things to say about this hotel. First and foremost, I would highlight its location: it is right in the city center, making it very easy to access any form of transportation and get around the city. As for the rooms, I can honestly say they were my favorite of all the hotels I stayed at during my trip around Scandinavia. They are comfortable, modern, and have an excellent layout. Without a doubt, this was one of the aspects I enjoyed most about my stay. The atmosphere is fantastic and very lively. The girls at the front desk are amazing, and they are always willing to help and make their guests feel welcome. As for breakfast, wow—absolutely amazing! Everything was excellent, from the coffee to the variety of food. It was an exceptional way to start the day. I honestly can’t point out anything negative about this place. The only bad thing was that I didn’t stay for more than three days! I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Perfect location on the central square. Everything was walkable. The staff was great. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Their restaurant was also nice for dinner or a beer, and they were close to other nice, affordable restaurants. The room was good: a comfortable bed, good lighting, and a comfortable chair plus a desk and chair. Nice bathroom.
Couple of high marble stairs to haul the heavy suitcase up to get to the elevator, but really, this was a great hotel and we would defintely stay here again.
Localisation très pratique (juste en face de la gare, et au bout de la rue principale desservant la cathédrale et allant jusqu’au palais)
We had a great stay! The staff are very friendly, responsive and accommodating. Breakfast was great - a nice variety of foods. The omelettes are delicious. The rooms, although a bit small, are clean and well appointed. We left our passports in the room safe and Maura and her staff found a creative solution to get them returned to us in Bergen. We are very appreciative! We would highly recommend!
Tout est beau même tableaux accrochés dans l’hôtel Les gens sont gentils Accueillants, patients Les chambres sont magnifiques Les salles de bain dingues !

Perfect position in the canter of Oslo. You can walk anywhere very easily. near to Museums, restaurants and public transportations. Love the American Lines style they kept with renovation. Very good gym. Very good breakfast.
When we arrived on Sunday the hotel restaurant was closed. Very small wardrobe in the room. We had to keep almost everything in our bags.
My 1 choice hotel in Oslo. Central location. Nice modern hotel with nice interior. Some rooms a bit small. Fortuna Suite my favorite. Best hotel gym in Norway. Nice cocktailbar in the lobby. Breakfast is ok+
Loved this hotel with its ambiance, friendly staff and location. We picked it because it's across from the train station and accessible to everywhere in Oslo. So quiet and the rooms are very well appointed. Lots of historical nuances.
Ontbijt geweldig
Geen flesje water op kamer
Beautiful hotel in the heart of downtown. Walkable anywhere and easy access to main areas. Staff was wonderful and rooms were clean and spacious.
Our family had an excellent stay at the Amerikalinjen, staying a total of four nights. The location couldn't have been better - it was within walking distance of almost everything we wanted to visit in Oslo, with tram/bus stops right there as well. It was next to the train station, near the pedestrian shopping street, and very close to the opera house/library/Munch Museum area. The waterfront was also a comfortable walking distance. The staff was very friendly and helpful, giving us clear directions for taking the tram to get our rental car. The breakfast buffet had to be one of the best we have ever had - excellent quality, including the best berries in season, large variety, and was constantly replenished when items ran low, which often doesn't happen elsewhere. There were delicious vegan options even! And additional items guests could order from the kitchen. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and well lit, with plenty of plugs as well. We highly recommend the Amerikalinjen and would very happily stay there again on return visits to Oslo..
We booked Amerikalinjen solely because of its location—which is perfect—and once we arrived we learned it’s an absolutely amazing place to stay. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we were treated like the most important guests ever to check in. The restaurant was excellent—a late dinner our first night and breakfast each morning. Meals were great and the service was excellent. Our room was very nicely decorated and, surprisingly, very quiet for a hotel so centrally located. The hotel is steps away from as much action as you’d want. A return trip to Oslo, we’ll be back at Amerikalinjen for sure.
Great central location within 10 minute walk of central train and bus stations. Close to museums, opera house, etc. near public transport to get you anywhere you want to go. Amazingly quiet for location. Great breakfast, friendly staff. Nice gym an spa area.

La ubicación es perfecta. El desayuno variado y de buena calidad, todo fresco. Las habitaciones un poco pequeñas. Personal amable.
Las habitaciones pequeñas, poco espacio de almacenamiento si vas para más de 2 días
The Amerikalinjen sets the bar for hotels in Oslo. The location could not be more convenient, steps from the train station, the harbor and Karl Johans Gate. Our party of three stayed in a Deluxe room. It was roomy enough for all of us, with a high ceiling and a wall of mirrors providing a more spacious feeling. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, even the extra third bed! The room was full of small thoughtful touches, like the heated floor in the bathroom and the motion activated nightlights. The place is striking and full of decorations celebrating the building’s past. Breakfast was delicious, both the plentiful buffet and the entree cooked to order. Service was not great, but good enough not to detract from an otherwise excellent stay. Price was premium but worth it given we had an early flight the next morning. We would gladly stay again!
Beautiful property! Right next to train station so very convenient. Very helpful and kind staff! Terrific breakfast.
Great location and stylish accommodation with good breakfast
Standard rooms are quite small
Sehr zentrale Lage, direkt beim neuen stylischen Stadtviertel am Hafen und allen Shopping Straßen
One of those rare hotels that feels like a story rather than just a place to sleep. The building was once the headquarters of the Norwegian America Line, the transatlantic shipping company, and that heritage is woven into the whole experience — from small design details in the rooms to a wonderful little lounge dedicated to old books, photographs, and period documents from the shipping line's history. It gives the place a genuine sense of personality that's hard to find in most hotels. The room itself was beautifully designed, spotless, and thoroughly welcoming. The staff were exceptional throughout — genuinely kind and attentive at every turn, never intrusive but always there when needed. Breakfast was excellent, both in variety and quality — a real highlight to start the day. The restaurant was equally impressive. And then there's the cocktail bar — phenomenal. Inventive, beautifully made cocktails, full of character. If you stay here, this alone is worth making time for. A hotel with real personality from top to bottom. Highly, highly recommended.
We stayed for 3 nights in Oslo. Great location by the train station and within walking distance of Harbour activities like Opera House and Munch Museum. Not to mention Harbour cruises. Hotel room small but comfortable. Unfortunately not overly quiet at our visit because of construction next door but they gave us some room credit when my husband complained about the noise. Included breakfast was superb with dozens of choices for every diet requirement.
Convenient location to many Oslo attractions and train station. The room had a view of the interior courtyard and was a little dark, but the quality of the amenities was very good. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially Olga in the restaurant.
Our room was dark and had no view.
This is my second stay at Amerikalinjen, the first time I stayed an entire weekend. I had been looking forward to this for a while and was not disappointed. The hotel is very comfortable with great service around every turn. We stayed in a superior room during a heat wave in southern Norway and was worried about feeling too warm. That was not a problem. The room was air conditioned and there was a fan there too. Every day we got delicious cookies on a paper with the following days weather forecast. The bed and sheets are super comfortable. The bathroom wasn’t large, but the shower was roomy and there was great smelling body wash, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. I even bought some to take home. The breakfast was spectacular. You get a limited menu to order from, fresh pressed orange juice and a lovely buffet with among other things, fresh berries. Amerikalinjen is my new favorite hotel. ❤️
Location is good, the hotel is bad.
Location
The location is excellent, in center, very near to trains, buses and pedestrian streets. The style from the old American Line one was very good. Breakfast was excellent.
The service was somehow weak not in terms of kindness but range since there there was no luggage service and the restaurant was closed on Sunday when we arrived.
For the price and the fact it’s only a 4 star I thought it was really good. Very stylish, rooms were nice (not huge but good), gym is good, food is pretty good and the staff were really lovely. Only feedback id give is the room service menu could do with more options but what I did order was good. Location is also great, very central
Everything was great, location was great too
In the summer heat, the room was hot. It was difficult to sleep even with a fan so just keep note of this if you’re visiting in the summer
Location!!! Our room was very clean and comfortable (bed was wonderful). Breakfast had a nice selection of gluten free options.
Nothing, liked it all.
Like the first time, excellent staff at reception, breakfast.
nothing
Отличное расположение, очень вежливый персонал, вкусные завтраки. В номере тапочки, полотенца, утюг и фен, удобные матрасы и подушки
On the positive side, hotel is well located just across from airport train shuttle. Nice staff; good breakfast. Room equipped with quite nice modern bathroom, BUT our room itself was ridiculously small and poorly laid out - e.g., the one chair in the room was completely blocked by a huge plasma tv mounted on an easel! Bed so close to closet you had to edge in sideways! C’mon guys!
Nice hotel near to station within walking distance of waterfront. Be aware that there is no onsite parking. The hotel does have a discounted rate at Oslo-s parking next to thon opera hotel which we found on 4th attempt. Standard room is quite small but very clean and tidy. Highlight was the breakfast - stacks of choice and good quality .
My Mom and I stayed here for a couple of nights while we were in Oslo. The hotel is right by the main train station in Oslo and many sites and restaurants/shopping were walkable from the hotel. The rooms themselves were beautiful, clean and very quiet for sleeping.
We chose the hotel to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, we booked hotel and flight with SAS as a three night package. We had a warm welcome on arrival and a quick check-in. Our room was 417 on the side of the building. The room was compact but had everything we could wish for. Impeccably clean, excellent lighting, plenty of sockets, and sufficient storage. There were plenty of hangers and space for clothes. A safe (easy to use), mini bar, kettle, coffee maker and plenty of capsules and tea bags. The king size bed was super comfortable and we slept well every single night. The fresh white lines and soft duvet were very luxurious. The bathroom was wonderful, full size toiletries of excellent quality. The towels were plentiful, fluffy and white. A hairdryer, make up mirror, even a little tray for jewellery etc. The automatical ambiance light was great too. The shower was huge with rainhead and separate handheld shower head. Breakfast was perhaps the best buffet breakfast I have ever had. The restaurant looks out onto the square and is very pleasant. The staff was lovely, quickly getting us seated and quickly serving coffee. As well as the buffet there was a small made to cook menu. The eggs benedict with salmon was outstanding! The buffet, especially for fish lovers was out of this world, salmon, herring, fish roe paté etc. The bread and pastries, fresh and delicious, there was fruit, yoghurt and even chia. We were never rushed and there was a lovely calm atmosphere. On our final morning we requested the breakfast to takeaway as we had an early flight. Not as good as the standard breakfast but a nice detail! The building is stunning, looking at it from the square it is really beautiful, and inside there are so many original features. It is so well situated, a few steps from the station with great train links to the airport. It’s also close to the main shopping area and lots of restaurants within walking distance. I would certainly return to the hotel, great service, good food and a wonderful atmospheric building. I am truly in love.
Amerikalinjen is a beautifully restored hotel that has transformed a century-old office building into a stylish and character-filled place to stay. Its location couldn’t be more convenient—right next to Oslo Central Station, making it an ideal base for exploring the city and beyond. The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a wide variety of fresh, high-quality options to start the day. The staff were friendly, professional, and always happy to assist with our requests. I also appreciated the spacious, well-equipped fitness centre, which was one of the better hotel gyms we’ve used. The only disappointment was our Superior Room. Despite the premium category, the ventilation was inadequate, making the room uncomfortably warm at night and resulting in poor sleep on both nights of our stay. This is something that really needs to be addressed, as it detracted from an otherwise very enjoyable experience. Overall, I would recommend Amerikalinjen for its location, heritage, service, and facilities, but I hope management can improve the room ventilation to match the high standard of the rest of the hotel.
Great location, quiet rooms, comfortable bed, outstanding breakfast. Great fitness center.
Nothing
We loved this hotel. The staff, concierge and breakfast servers were very attentive. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choices, of breads, fruit, etc. My partner loved the herring, both kinds, that were offered. In addition they prepared omelets & other egg dishes. A plus is that they are across the street from the train station. Our plane arrived close to midnight & we took the airport train to city center. It was late but we felt safe & people were helpful in letting us know where to get off. They also provide nice terry cloth slippers that I was able to take with me. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Super staff, great ambiance, comfortable rooms and incredible breakfast! 10/10 experience
Beautiful hotel, very comfortable bed, great staff at the bar and front desk. Breakfast one of the best I've seen.
nothing, was great.
Welcoming staff. Location. Breakfast
The room is small but lovely. Staff was incredibly helpful and worked with us when we had tv issues. The breakfast was great and I was so thankful that you could order different types of coffee. You can even take it to go! The style of the hotel nods to its history and provides some great amenities like a sauna and even entertainment. However, we did not get the opportunity to utilize those amenities in the few nights we were staying at the hotel. We got a room with a balcony, which was tight, but provided a fun view of the water. There was construction going on which could get loud, but it was not a big deal. The bed was comfortable and staff were incredibly friendly. I told them that we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and they honored us with some small treats in our room and a very nice not. It is in a perfect location. I would stay again 100%.
Location was great, a 2 minute walk from the Oslo central train station. Our room was a typical small but elegant European style hotel room. We overlooked the large square and the people coming and going from train to bus. Our last night, there was a woman singing beautifully in the square. She was amazing and we enjoyed her voice from our room and the bar / restaurant in the square.
Amerikalinjen is all about location. The hotel is directly across from Oslo Central Station, which makes arrival from the airport incredibly easy if you take the train into the city. From there, you can walk to so many Oslo highlights, including the Opera House, MUNCH, the Barcode District, the waterfront promenade, Karl Johans gate, and Aker Brygge. The breakfast is truly special. The buffet has more than you could ever imagine, and the restaurant itself is stunning. It was one of the highlights of our stay. The staff was friendly and welcoming throughout our visit. Room sizes vary, so it is worth choosing carefully when booking. We had a basic room, and it did feel small, with only about a foot of space on each side of the bed. That said, the room was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed, and more. The bathroom was spacious, stylish, and had incredible water pressure. One thing to know: there is construction next door where a building is being rebuilt. During our stay, work started around 7 AM, and there was some daytime noise. Realistically, I would expect that to continue for a while. For us, it was barely a bother, but it is something to consider if you are sensitive to noise or planning to sleep in. Overall, Amerikalinjen is a stylish, well-located hotel with a fantastic breakfast and easy access to the best of Oslo.

Closed on Sunday evening for food
Excellent place to stay—right in the downtown and close to train station, harbor for ferries, museums, shopping, restaurants. The staff was amazing. The breakfast is the best I have had in any country I have ever been to. Rooms are quiet. Beds are comfortable. Highly recommend as The Place to stay near Oslo S
Everything was great
the breakfast was excellent apart from the coffee, which was quite bitter and never hot the front desk staff were; friendly helpful and polite
the room service was very poor - on the 2 occasions we used it, it was very slow and in fact they forgot the order both times and we had to call again to remind them. On the first occasion, when the order arrived (after more than an hour) it was not what we ordered. when we tried to eat at the restaurant in the evening, we stood for a long time waiting to be seen and were then told that we could not sit as they were full - in spite of many empty tables. we were told to come back in 30 minutes, which we did, to wait at least 10 minutes to be seated at one of the many empty tables. we then found that nothing we picked from the menu was now available - this was 8.30pm - several hours closing time - we left without eating - the manager asked for our room number, which i gave him - asking why ? he mumbled something about the future, but we never heard from the hotel about this we did not try to eat at the restaurant again although we would have liked the convenience of not having to go out.
This hotel is outstanding in every way. Its in the perfect location, central to everything you need as all the transport (Trains, Trams, Buses, Underground) runs from right outside the front door. The rooms are beautifully appointed and the bed is extremely comfortable. There is a concierge on site who will help you to make the most of your stay. Pier 42 is a great bar and you have plenty of dine in options too. Breakfast is included and very high quality, you can choose from the self serve buffet or à la carte. The stand out feature for me are the staff, every single person we met was friendly and went out of their way to make you feel welcome. It felt genuine throughout our stay. If you are reading this review, I can say one last thing. I have travelled to 21 countries and this is by far, the best hotel I have ever stayed in. I would give it a 7 star review on Trip Advisor if I could.
This was a fabulous hotel. I stayed here for a week as I was attending a conference and added extra days so that I could see the concert. A friend had recommended this hotel and I can understand why. Accessibility - the hotel is right opposite the train station so when I arrived it was very easy to find. Food - I ate three times here (evening meal) and also had lunch. I had breakfast every day. The food was fabulous - very tasty and nice. Staff - everyone was so friendly and helpful. I was travelling solo but I never worried about safety or anything. Negative - the only negative is that the tram line was right by my room and I would hear it creak and grind as it went past right until the early hours of the morning when I would eventually just get to sleep. Oslo itself was wonderful - this was my first time visiting. Very clean city. Everything was organised and ran on time. I felt perfectly safe. Do try the saunas by the sea - highly recommend (I even swam in the sea). I would definitely recommend this hotel as a great base to explore the city. Thank you to all the staff. Dr Sylvia Davies
Our six-day stay at Amerikalinjen was nothing short of exceptional. It proved to be the perfect base not only for exploring Oslo itself but also for taking trips beyond this awesome city. Its location is simply phenomenal—directly across from Oslo Central Station, making travel effortless, while also being within easy walking distance of many of Oslo’s most iconic attractions, including the harbour, Akershus Fortress, City Hall, Parliament, several outstanding museums e.g. the Munch Museum, the Opera House, and the Royal Palace. One of the things that makes Amerikalinjen so special is its rich historic character. The beautifully restored building seamlessly combines its fascinating heritage with contemporary luxury, creating a unique atmosphere that sets it apart from typical modern hotels. There is a sense of history and light modern elegance throughout the property, yet it remains warm, stylish, and welcoming. At first glance, some guests might be concerned about noise due to the hotel's central location next to the train station and close to tram and bus traffic. However, this turned out not to be an issue at all for us. The excellent sound insulation and high-quality double windows keep noise levels remarkably low, allowing for a peaceful and comfortable stay despite being in the heart of the capital city. What made our stay even more memorable was the outstanding staff. Every member of the team was exceptionally friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful, always going above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful experience. Their warmth and attention to detail were evident from the moment we arrived until the day we left. The hotel itself is impeccably maintained. Our room was spotless, beautifully appointed, and incredibly comfortable, providing the perfect retreat after long days of sightseeing and excursions. The bathroom was particularly impressive, offering plenty of space, an excellent walk-in shower, and high-quality amenities that added to the feeling of luxury and comfort. We also thoroughly enjoyed the spa and fitness facilities, which were modern, relaxing, and thoughtfully designed. The food and beverage offerings were equally impressive. The bar has a fantastic atmosphere and serves excellent drinks, while the brasserie delivers outstanding cuisine in a vibrant and elegant setting. The breakfast deserves special mention—it was truly exceptional. The quality, freshness, and variety of the (local) produce were remarkable, with an outrageously generous selection that exceeded even the highest expectations. If there is one small area for improvement, it would be the television channel selection. While there are plenty of Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish channels available, alongside BBC and DW, a broader range of international channels would be a welcome addition for guests staying multiple days. Overall, Amerikalinjen combines history, luxury, comfort, and world-class hospitality product in a way that very few hotels can match at this price point. After six wonderful days, we left with fantastic memories and complete confidence in recommending it to anyone visiting Oslo. We would happily return without hesitation.
The room was perfect, location is ideal for train access but very loud.
I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel, especially considering the amount of money I spent. My room was placed directly adjacent to an active construction zone, and there was constant noise throughout my stay. It was never peaceful or quiet, which made it very difficult to relax or enjoy the experience I had paid for. To make matters worse, I woke up in the morning to a large construction crane directly outside my window. This was not disclosed at the time of booking, and had I known the hotel was undergoing major construction so close to guest rooms, I would have chosen to stay elsewhere. For a property charging premium rates, I expected transparency, consideration for guests, and at the very least accommodations away from the construction activity. The entire experience felt disruptive and far below the standard advertised. I sincerely hope management improves communication with future guests and reevaluates placing guests in rooms impacted by heavy construction noise. Update the hotel responded immediately and refunded some of the cost for the disappointing experience.
Tudo maravilhoso!!
Very loudly housekeeping staff. They woke me up with their screams outside the door.
Wonderful hotel in an excellent location. The breakfast was amazing and staff wonderful.
Everything was wonderful. The best choice for a trip to Oslo.
We had such an amazing time at this hotel. What is key to note is the location! You can catch a train almost anywhere in Oslo outside your front door. The opera house and museums are within walking distance. The staff went above and beyond to make this a great experience for us. We traveled around Norway for two weeks and this was the best breakfast that we had. Overall just a wonderful experience!
We really enjoyed our 2 night stay at Amerikalinjen. We had a flight delay so got in later than expected and also didn't receive our luggage. The staff at reception went above and beyond helping us find stores that were open early the next morning so that we could get some of the necessities, and even called up to our room with other ideas that they thought of after we checked in. The location was fabulous. Steps away from central station, and an easy walking distance to the Opera House and Munch Museum. The rooms were very clean, and we also received an upgrade to a slightly larger room type. The breakfast in the morning was a very nice spread. We did Norway in a Nutshell and used a porter service to take our luggage on (it did finally show up!) to Bergen, and the staff was so helpful in that process.
Our room was cosy, but perfectly fine, breakfast is great and has everything. Hotel is located near railways station and all the trams and buses you could possibly need. All the staff are excellent. There is some building work going on at the back of the hotel which generally starts at about 8am - but it;s a great alarm clock!
the free breakfast is the best in Oslo. They also have a highly rated dinner restaurant. Location near train station. Bed is very comfortable.
noise from square in front of train station. Do not stay here during week ends or holidays.
Excellent location and helpful staff. Rooms were very modern and good. The breakfast was also very good with lots of variety.
Although Trip Advisor says that this hotel has AC, it does not. The room is so small that we can’t put the second bag in the floor and there’s no dresser. It’s stuffy and overlooks a city square, which is noisy and at least since we arrived an hour ago is the place of very loud and non-stop Christian music. So, we now have the choice of opening the window for some air or to listen to loud incessant noise. Not looking forward to tonight, especially if it rains so we need to close the window.
We stayed here only two nights. We really liked everything about the hotel. Bathroom (shower) and bed linens were great - the most important things at a hotel in my opinion.
Great location in Oslo, short walk from the AirPort Express train. nice room and good breakfast.
Nothing
Great location, friendly staff, and fantastic breakfast!
Not a problem, but know that If you rent a car you’ll use a local parking lot 2blocks away.
Clean, centrally located and staff very friendly!
Nothing
The building is beautiful and I think the breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts we have had. The staff were charming but natural and very helpful.
It was a shame that we were unable to try the restaurants- due to a strike of hotel workers. It was a little noisy, with the building site behind.
Breakfast was excellent with superb choice.
Storage / wardrobe space could have been better, had to use wall mounted coat hooks as wardrobe was too small.
Service i resepsjonen
Excellent interior decor and perfect location! This hotel is located within a 5 minute walk from Oslo's Central Station and is right next to the famous Karl Johans Street. Buses and trams are available from right outside the hotel. The hotel seemed relatively new and quite well maintained. My room was beautiful and spacious with a lot of natural light. The bed was very comfortable and the whole atmosphere at the hotel was very relaxing. Breakfast was excellent and included a buffet in addition to a few a la carte items that you could order. The only downside is that the trams in the street can get a little noisy. I was generally tired and used ear plugs to block out the noise, so my sleep wasn't too badly impacted.
Very dirty bed sheets which had human hairs on them. Draining system in the bathroom wasn’t working well.
