The location was perfect for our needs. The decor in the bar/restaurant was lovely. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The property was fine in a good location for our trip and it had nice garden. Staff were polite and friendly.

Our room was above the beer pumps/ central system so it was continuously noisy. We were not advised about this. It’s quite basic with only a hanging rack. Food wasn’t great.

The tea coffee in the room didn’t have tbags or sugar. It was fixed but little details would have made it better if it was there in the first place without us having to ask. We had two rooms so could see what should have been there.

Breakfast was very good, had evening meal in the pub, good choice. We were in the cottage annexe, good for parking and happy to leave the car there in the morning while we went round the outlet village.

Bathroom was very basic, ok for overnight but felt like a hospital bathroom

Rooms need need a revamp Old furniture, mouldy celling, peeling paint, chunks out of the door and wall, patched up holes in bathroom, no bathroom shelf etc Toilet unclean, shower dated.

Excellent location and really appreciated they were able to accommodate our ground floor request for twin beds. We actually ended up in a very large family room with a superking bed & sofa bed. So lots of space and extra room to put bags & hang clothes.

A bit dated - needs a lick of paint here & there. The room we had, had an en-suite -but difficult to climb into bath as very high and didn’t like you couldn’t control the shower head - meaning more difficult to keep hair dry when not needing to wash it!

Friendly staff despite being very busy , mistakes made with food and drink but rectified without being asked . The room was separate to the pub and lovely cottage feel to it with own patio door , could put a table outside on the stones . Clean room could do with more pillows . Ideal for Clark’s village as it’s just across the road.

The Bear Inn is in an ideal location in Street. There is free parking for guests. The breakfast menu is very good and excellent value. The staff are consistently helpful.

There's nothing I didn't like. I've stayed at the Bear many times and this occasion also met expectations.

A lovely hotel, even though we didn't stay in the main building itself, but in a cottage just a short distance away. We had a nice, spacious room. The hotel offers fantastic breakfasts, which I highly recommend trying if you stay here. Friendly, helpful staff and free parking.

Booking in was easy and the Staff very friendly. Situated in an ideal location if you are visiting Clarks Shopping Village. Only a short walk away. Arrived mid afternoon and no problem getting a space in Hotel's car park which is free for residents. Food was good and breakfast worth investing in. Overall a very pleasant stay and would stay there again if returning to area.

Waited over 5 mins in restaurant/reception before anyone acknowledged us, took an age to then be booked in. Room was up 2 steep flights of stairs, in an attic. Two small windows which had restricted opening, one was about 0.3 cm! Extremely hot weather, so very uncomfortable, the fan provided wasn’t adequate. Felt very claustrophobic. No where to place or hang clothes. TV was very small, and could not be seen from bed.

Food was generally of a good standard, and very fair choice on the menu. Dining area was spacious and nicely decorated. Helpfulness and friendliness of staff was excellent. The beds in the room were very comfortable.

Main issue was lack of ventilation in the family room. 3 of the 4 sash windows didn't open and 4th had the regulation safety cable, so only opened 3". There was no fan in the room, which was like a sauna, and no air conditioning in the room. However, staff were helpful in providing a fan from another room. Just unfortunate there was a heatwave during our stay! Traffic noise was an issue as we had window open at night.....but this was not unexpected given the location. An extra chair in the family room would have useful - there was only one, and the sofa was used as a bed.

Lovely historic building

In a boiling hot room right at the top: had to have fan on and window open for it to be bearable - this was very noisy so sleep very poor. Then awoken at 4.30 am by a fire alarm…

The breakfast was generous and came quickly, the room was spacious.

The room and bathroom was quite run down, all the floors were squeeky, there were very little furniture, no kind of desk/table by the bed. The stairs were very steep and there was no landing at all which made it very difficult to get our luggage up to the room and through the door. It was also hard to find, we had to re-park twice to find the correct building for the reception, and then the rooms were in totally different building than the reception which made us have to move the car again. Travelling with 2 young children and lots of luggage made this very annoying.

The Bear Inn is always a reliable place to stay. Very helpful staff. Comfortable and spacious room.

The Bear Inn is a very sweet gem of an old English Inn that is very tidy and still atmospheric. The attached restaurant and bar is friendly and very good. With a little Beer Garden the grounds are absolutely gorgeous. Hope to Return and stay again. There was a private entrance with a code for after hours access.

Well a spiral staircase up to my room, it was no fun dragging my bags up the spiral stair case. That was the only issue I had and it was only one floor.

Breakfast cooked choice was very good, continental parts just enough, spacious room, check-in process painless, easy to access at all hours, no problem finding a parking space.

Worth spelling out to guests in the pre-visit message that although it's a paying car park (£12 a day), you can ignore the payment signs and simply give your reg number to the reception. Even so, ensure you are in a Bear Inn parking space (not the public ones). It's central location by the main road means you may well hear the odd vehicle going by - if so, take ear plugs.

The room was tired and in desperate need of an update. However the bed and facilities were good. The breakfast was adequate but not cooked to a high standard, my poached eggs were solid and the bacon overcooked. We also had an evening meal which was average at best.
