They gave us a fan for the room to combat the heat They moved us into a "family" room to give us a walk in shower They had gluten free bread There was Nutella available at breakfast
Breakfast - I didn't think anyone could mess up egg & bacon - bacon was boiled, tough & difficult to eat - scrambled eggs were tasteless, fried eggs were rubbery, poached eggs tasted of vinegar Towels had holes in them & frayed around the edges No working extractor Fans in bathroom or toilet (both windowless rooms) Rooms were not services unless the appropriate sign was hung on door handle but there was no instruction to do so in the room & we were not told to do so on check in. The room was either not vacuumed or the vacuumed cleaner they used was ineffective.

Very good
We booked this hotel on the morning of our stay, as our original booking at a different location was suddenly cancelled. The hotel was a little dated on the exterior, but inside was much nicer than we envisaged. The location was great, a short walk to the local high street and an amazing outlet area we didn’t know was there. We were a very short drive from Glastonbury and the Wookey Caves, where we wanted to visit. The only real negative side was that the room was very warm so we had to have the windows open meaning we could hear a lot of traffic noise, had it been later in the year when the weather was cooler this would not have been an issue (it was the August bank holiday weekend)
The room was hot
Central position in the town. Ideal for a stopover.
Excellent location, comfortable rooms and plenty of free parking
The location was great. Being outside of Glastonbury it felt a little more relaxed. The staff were lovely, accommodating, and very friendly. Felt like home. Great value.
The mattresses/beds left something to be desired. Understanding it wasn’t a very expensive hotel.
To be honest we’d never go back here, very poor
Cleanliness was below average, no restaurant open there, no bar. Overall look outside was very old and needs a new upgrade. Bed sheets were not crisp white they were very yellow and well used. Beds were uncomfortable, mattress extra firm! Pillows the same. No phone in the room to call reception. The windows are low to the floor they are large and open these are about 4ft wide, tall so nearly to the ceiling. It’s a massive safety issue with a huge drop from the second floor! Not safe for any children, no pets as they can easily jump out and it’s a fatal drop down onto concrete. Very shocked with everything, was glad to leave next morning we left at 6am couldn’t stay there anymore.
Friendly staff , good bed , nice location , nice and quite
Could do with a few updates , but nothing major , as always when I stay in a room not enough milk
Rooms were ok Hotel in very nice place
Showers were nightmare Water cold or hot only nothing in the middle No air con in rooms
staff were friendly and welcoming, Breakfast was top notch
Shower head was slightly broken so nearly burnt myself taken a shower
Whilst having breakfast at 8.30 the cleaner didn’t service my room as I had left a ‘do not disturb’ notice which I took into my room at 9.15am. When I queried this with management I was told that the cleaner starts at 9!! I hadn’t realised guests had to make sure the do not disturb sign had to be removed by 9 am to suit the hours of the hotel staff otherwise one’s room wouldn’t be serviced during the rest of the day!!
Easy check in and check out.
No fans in the room despite the heat. The shower leaks everywhere. Hallways were extremely hot and humid.
The staff the beds
Hot rooms, no A/C
Good location for cycling event I was doing. Left before breakfast both days.
Room was on second floor, windows opened approx 1 cm, fan was a desk fan so very hot in room all night. Families couldn’t have stayed in that temperature
I didnt book breakfast.
The decor was very old.
Really lovely welcoming reception, hotel is dated but you should expect this in a 1970’s hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was as expected, full english with plenty of light options, cereals fruit etc. downside was the restaurant was not open on the 2 evenings we stayed, but plenty of food options close by. Was even allowed to have a food delivery to reception if we wished. car parking on site. Good location with shops and Clark’s village outlet a short walk away.
Nothing negative, we just wanted a place to sleep as we were out all day. This was perfectly adequate.
Stayed here with my mum as part of a GB Tours coach trip, the staff were all lovely and doing their absolute best despite the weather being hot. Unfortunately I was unable to open the window in our room but I'm not sure it would have helped cool it down much as the outside temperature was in the 30s but reception were able to provide a fan. I did suggest that they need to invest in some aircon, at least in the communal areas. The toilets are separate in this hotel which is a little quirky. I found the shower adequate but my mum was unable to use it due to a safety concern of there not being any handrails on the wall, which again I raised with a member of staff. The food was good with plenty of choices however we didn't fancy any of the main course choices on our second night but they were happy to make us both cheese omelettes which came with lots of salad and vegetables on the side and the coffee was lovely, only reason we didn't drink more of it was because of the heatwave. Bar prices were reasonable too. Didn't sleep particularly well but this was purely down to our trip happening during some exceptionally warm temperatures. A few touches here and there would make this a great value hotel and I would certainly consider staying here again if I was visiting Somerset
Excellent attention from staff couldn't do enough for you, very informative and always on hand when needed, restaurant staff very attentive also
It was all excellent no faults at all
free parking and wifi
room not clean, toilet extract fan not working, Towle were old and had holes, shower head dirty, sink had 4 cracks look like it had been glued, the second floor corridor heat was unbearable. the radiators felt hot. the receptionist stated the it was the hot water supply. the restaurant was closed due to staff holiday.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming

El personal y la atencion
Instalaciones algo antiguas, el cambio de colchones como sugerencia
Breakfast was the best of my visit.God to see kippers and Haddock on the menu
Public areas all rather tired and dark, dirty carpets not good
Comfortable bed
Everything was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks you, Wessex hotel. Looking forward to my return, ❤️.
Nothing not to like.
We liked the room and location
No one at reception bar on evening closed manager hardly spoke no one at reception when we left
Dog friendly.
Friendly staff
Good traditional breakfast.

On arrival, I received a very warm welcome. There is a warm ambience - the exterior of the building, whilst clean and tidy, does not do the inside justice. My room was a very pleasant surprise, not the usual standard hotel room interior, with everything one would expect in a hotel room including an iron and ironing board. All beautifully clean alongside local information. Will definitely stay there on my next visit to Street.
I suspect the hotel is undergoing a facelift as the windows are obviously quite old and not very pretty, with mould between the double glazing panels. I do feel that the bathroom would benefit from an extractor fan. It has been refurbished to a very high quality, but steam will soon cause mould to appear which would be a great pity and ruin the work that has gone into providing such standards of finish.

Staff exceptionally helpful, lovely greeting and although they didn't have a room set up that I had requested they went over and above to cater for what we wanted. Will definitely use again.
Convenient location
Very dated, needs a lot of renovation, noisy, bed not comfortable

The staff in reception were extremely helpful and nice
The shower wasn't good
Can't fault it. Clean, friendly staff and the food was excellen
Comfortable bed, good size room. Nice bar :)
No beside table, drafty windows :(
Really easy to park (unlike other hotels in this town we have used). Check in efficient and room very comfortable and quiet.
Hotel clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and professional and made my stay pleasant. This is my second stay at the Wessex and I plan to stay again.

This hotel is a disgrace! We arrived at 5 pm, changed and then went out. Came back late. I didn't feel happy in this room but my husband kept saying 'It's ok we are only here for 2 nights'. Next morning we were out early and back late. Sunday morning I looked around our room - it was dreadful. Very, very dated. Thick dust in the bathroom, which | removed with a tissue, door lock was broken, bathroom socket didn't work, rust in the bath, the wood around the window was rotting and paint peeling off, the window ledge was dirty. The worst was the thick layer of dust on the wide skirting board. This room had not been cleaned for a long time. I spoke to the Manager who looked at the room and agreed with me but said it was my fault for not complaining earlier. No - it is you that should never have let this room, in this condition for £100 per night! This hotel needs a complete refurbishment and some good cleaning practices. I would NEVER stay there again. Sadly we didn't take any photos.
Clean hotel, accessible for Glastonbury, lots of free parking and friendly staff
accessibility to glastonbury
the dust levels were very high, aspects of disrepair within the room, th elack of sound installation
The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The rooms were comfortable and we all slept extremely well. The breakfast was also very good. We would definitely stay there again.
Very good value, clean, super friendly and helpful. Great location. Quiet. I love having windows that actually open. Squirrels in the park outside the window in the morning!
I mean it's not a five star hotel. Didn't care. Loved it.
Convenient Very clean
Heating was on and the room was uncomfortably hot for us
Staff extremely accommodating. Location was excellent for the purpose of our visit. Good breakfast.
Unfortunately the restaurant was not open during our stay. The decor outside of the main areas were a little tired.
Staff were very pleasant and breakfast options were good. Excellent location for access to other areas of Street.
Clearly the hotel is going under refurbishment and some rooms have been modernised. Mine wasn't. The shower did not work well, either did the toilet, room was tired and in need of refurbishment. The bar area comes across as an add on and not welcoming. With a private school like Millfield on their doorstep where high value individuals are looking to stay in good accommodation, I can't stop thinking that the Wessex is missing a great opportunity.
Great location
Location is great. Walking distance to shops and restaurants
Staff were very helpful, the room was clean
The hotel was a little dated albeit i appreciate the expensive cost of a refit for a relatively small hotel
Never again. The Wessex Hotel is very dated, our room 202 was dusty, dirty and the decor needs an overhaul. We only stayed for one night and was on a tight schedule so to complain was always going to be when we left the next day. the breakfast in the morning started well, however when helping ourselves to bread to toast we found that the bread had mould on it (Pic attached). We made our exit after collecting our belongings from the room, to find nobody at the reception so dropped the key and left. I wrote an email to the Hotel the same day. I had a reply from the obnoxious manager a couple of days later making the usual statement of "You should of complained during our stay and we would of rectified the issues" A complaint is a complaint no matter when we choose to air our concerns, as a manager of the Hotel and someone who insists that checks are carried out daily is complete and utter rubbish, as you clearly have problems that have been there for some time. I will never return and urge anyone I know to seek alternative accommodation.
We stayed at the Wessex Hotel for a midweek break. Our experience at check in was pleasant, the lady who checked us in was polite and informative with good local knowledge ( this was our first visit to the area) and made us feel at ease. Our room was equipped with the basic items required for our stay , tea and coffee , flat screen tv etc. We found the room to be well kept and clean. Breakfast was also enjoyable and hot. For what we paid we really can't complain, a nice 3 star Hotel. Would certainly recommended.
Shops nearby
Mirror on dressing table smeared and dirty. Big chip in bath. Dripping toilet. Curtains did not fit to top and let outside floodlights in at night. Mattress too hard. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. Restaurant was closed in the evening during my stay and I had to walk across the road to a kebab shop rwo nights running for pizza. I don't like fast food and would not have gone to the hotel if they had told me the restaurant was closed. I went there because I was unwell with a flare up ..not expecting that I would have to go elsewhere for my food. The left window didn't have a lock/stay on it and when I opened it I almost fell out...heatwave and no fan, hot pipes undef floor and stifilling . Awful...I would not stay again . I feel let down.
The front reception and the young man working the night shift . Friendly and efficiant and apologetic.
No restsurant, no cocktail bar or entertainment, no music... a saturday night! Bed was hard. Pillows were like rags screwed up into the case. Breakfast was minimal, sausages were so cheap and inedible. Bread for toasting was literally mouldy!
Comfortable beds
Shower head needs replacing and uncomfortable pillows
I loved the classic feel of the hotel. Staff were amazing. Lovely dining room and breakfast was plentiful and freshly cooked to order.
The room was too warm but we opened a window to keep it cooler
Noisy, dirty room. Floor not vacuumed with sweet wrapper and clothing tags present. Over bath shower did not work. But bath filled up quickly. Restaurant not available due to private function with no warning. Breakfast was delicious, bathroom and bedding was clean.
Quiet Comfy bed
Went with a coach trip. Hotel was clean the food was vrry good with a good choice. The staff could not do enough to help you. I would not hessitate to stay there again. One of the better hotels I have stayed in.
Staff were friendly, breakfast was very good 👍

I stayed at the Wessex Hotel for the duration of 3 days as I was on a business trip to the area, my requirement was for a comfortable clean room which could provide me with a peaceful nights sleep away from my hectic work schedule, I am very pleased to say that the Hotel ticked the boxes here, my room was clean well equipped and spacious. I included Breakfast to my booking & this was also of a very good quality with ample hot & cold choices. I personally could not fault the staff who were friendly helpful & courteous during my stay. I will definitely be using the Wessex Hotel again in the near future when in the area. Thank you.
The fact that they had an ev charger was probably the only thing going for this hotel. The car parking spaces were ample as they only had 3 other guests
The Hotel is dated, my room looked like something from the 70's. the bed was hard, the cushions were harder. The taps in the shower were hot, but too hot and by adding cold water it made it even hotter. i tried the cold tap on its own and the water was scolding. The door lock wouldn't actually lock so if someone from the outside had a key it would open my room. there was no ventilation as the bedroom window wouldn't open. Outside of my room 201, there was cable hanging down from the ceiling and as a tall guy i had to avoid as i wasn't sure what the cable was for. The hotel staff didn't even ask how my stay was when i checked out, there was no customer experience interest what so ever. The hotel was empty and i can understand why. I walked by 2 other hotels on the same street that actually looked busy, i didn't see one person in the bar or restaurant that wasn't staff. if i hadn't already paid i would have stayed elsewhere
MIdweek stay and i think there were only 2/3 other people staying in the whole hotel. The Hotel is dated, my room looked like something from the 70's. the bed was hard, the cushions were harder. Location
All was fine
I stayed at The Wessex Hotel with GB tours from 23rd February until 27th February. Had a lovely room [105] very clean , lovely walk in shower . Food was very good and god selection . staff helpful and friendly . Clarks Village 5 minutes walk from Hotel , Market day Thursday . Very nice stay , would always choose The Wessex when I travel to Somerset .
Very good
It’s was clean and the staff were lovely ,nothing was too much trouble
The showers were run off a mixer tap so it was a bit of an ordeal going hot them cold them hot again! And the restaurant wasn’t open any of the evenings we were there which was disappointing as it meant you had to go out for food, staff were very obliging when takeaways were brought in though
Cooked breakfast was good. Shower had plenty of pressure, but needs a descale (Room 115).!
On arrival i was given the key to my room, but when I opened the door it was already occupied..! I was then given a different larger room. Trouble was the water tasted very metallic, so couldn't make any tea that I could drink.
All went well
Chairs in dining room not very comfortable
Very good
Weather 🤣
Breakfast and staff were very nice. Room facilities and cleanliness was also great.
Despite the room and breakfast being lovely. The heating in the room was unbearable for several days. Heating was on full despite it being middle of summer on an hot day/night. Appears to be ongoing issue at the hotel as several guests mentioned similar. Mentioned this at reception and the solution provided was to open window and provision of a fan. It looks like the heating was unable to be turned down. This significantly took away from what otherwise would have been a great experience
