The staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. We have absolutely no complaints about the service. The property itself is peaceful, quiet, and beautifully designed. If you're looking to escape city noise and enjoy a tranquil environment surrounded by nature, this place certainly delivers.

One thing we did not realize when booking was that our suite only had an outdoor shower and no indoor shower option. This may appeal to some guests, but it was not something we personally enjoyed. We also booked the Suite with Private Pool expecting it to be the premium accommodation option, but the private pool itself was quite underwhelming and not as impressive as we had anticipated from the photos. The biggest issue for us was the presence of insects around the outdoor bathroom area at night. When I went to take a shower in the evening, several very large cockroaches suddenly emerged and were literally crawling around me in the shower area. It was honestly quite frightening and I rushed back inside the room. Interestingly, during daylight hours we did not notice any such insects. I understand that the resort is located in a natural environment surrounded by vegetation, and some insects are probably unavoidable. However, this was still uncomfortable enough to significantly affect our experience. In addition, while looking for our toddler's toy, my husband found several very large spiders behind the sink area, which further reinforced our concerns. Overall, this is a beautiful and peaceful property with excellent staff and a lovely natural setting. However, the outdoor-only shower setup combined with the insect encounters made the stay less comfortable than we had hoped. While we appreciate the concept of the resort, it is not a property we would personally choose to return to.

Excellent location, staff, food and we had a very comfortable stay. Enjoyed the living nature and all the staff worked beyond the expectations and will definitely consider this place for our future stays!!!!

Beautiful hotel with contemporary architecture that blends seamlessly with nature. The pool is stunning, the food is amazing, and the service is excellent. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well-designed. We especially loved having animals on the property—it added a unique touch. Overall, it was a very relaxing stay and the perfect way to end our one-month trip to Sri Lanka.

Its a pretty property but facilities are not worth.

Facilities, staff behavior, since we are already pay for the breakfast, we expect a proper one but they give very limited options and limited amount. Also food is over priced and the quantity is tiny. The villas badly lit, extremely low light. Bathrooms dont have hot water. Very low staffed, everything takes a lot of time. We had better expectations according to the tariff but wasnt worth.

It was a little far out of the town also very badly stocked with provisions. I think it was off season and they were not expecting visitors.

Everything!! Beautiful location and the hotel staff made us feel at home. Rooms were clean, spacious, and had all the amenities we needed! 👏❤️ The hotel exceeded my expectations and I would recommend it to others for sure!!!

We have enjoyed some incredible days surrounded by calm with family. We loved our stay in this hotel, an oasis of peace. Thank you for the service of Iahiru and Niroshan, we had an excellent, professional, familiar and close service with them. They both took great care of us :). The food was also delicious. We highly recommend it

The villa property was really beautiful.. we as a group of friends enjoyed our stay here.. The support staff especially Lahiru and Niroshan were attentive to our needs.. Right from customized breakfast to arranging tuk tuks as needed they were very helpful.. Overall we had a very pleasant stay at this property and would recommend to anyone looking for a stay near Galle..

The staff here were excellent. They were very helpful, friendly, and attentive. We stayed in a Villa which was cleaned every day. The breakfasts were good. We only ate in the Restaurant twice in the evening but it was very good. We loved the wildlife, the Kingfishers, Peacocks, Lapwings, Cows and the dogs. The gardens were very well tended and the pool provided welcome relief from the heat. I had a lovely massage.

It was quite a distance from the beach. Having said that, we enjoyed our walks down there, all the local people were very friendly.

The Staff(and manager) was helpful. There was an issue with the room that we booked and there was a smell of sewage permeating through the room. However, the manager moved us to a villa which was much nicer. It also seems like the place is short-staffed, however the staff was very helpful.

The surroundings were lovely and so was the layout of the property itself. The staff was friendly.

It seems rather badly maintained and unfinished and is very basic. In a 5 star hotel I expect some useful amenities and not just a bottle of shampoo and shower gel placed on the floor in the shower. There were gecko droppings on the mosquito net above the bed. The floor needed sweeping…etc. The room was very dark and needs more lights. No TV. There were bird droppings on the sun beds near the pool. With better care and some adjustments it would be a lovely place to stay at.

The property is designed aesthetically pleasing but not practical

Location was too remote, the villa’s had only 2 bathrooms for a 4 bedroom, too rustic so many bugs and ants - infact my son had a horrid allergy to the bites and we couldn’t find a medical place nearby due to remoteness. Service was slow. Light was poor so at night one could barely find the location or rooms.

The villas are huge and spacious.

A thin quilt would have been nice. And an extra towel as only one per person was given daily.

De huisstijl is zeer stijlvol.

Large dogs were roaming freely without leashes, approaching guests and even lying next to us while we were eating. The staff lacked knowledge about the hotel and the kitchen, and their English skills were very poor, making communication unnecessarily difficult. There were no parasols available—at 30 degrees, you’re left baking in the scorching sun with no shade. Nothing about this vacation felt like wellness. The music was far too loud and not relaxing at all. All wellness facilities were extra and highly overpriced. Even basic amenities like a sauna or steam bath weren’t included. Our room wasn’t cleaned, and there were large gaps under the door, making it easy for insects and even mice to get inside. The shower only offered lukewarm water. To make matters worse, we were the only guests in the entire hotel, which felt very strange and unsettling. This was the most expensive hotel of our trip, and without a doubt, the worst experience we’ve ever had. Never again!

The location is a bit inconvenient to find transport

Wirdana Resport and Spa Villa is stunning with spacious villas with modern amenities with the pool area being pristine and inviting. The staff are incredibly helpful. The decor and design of the hotel is stand outs. The attention to detail and care for guests is truly commendable.

The location of the hotel was not ideal with no easy access to local transport. Fornatunately, we had a driver for entire stay otherwise would have been difficult without use of prearranged transport.

The spacious villa layout

I’d use the term ‘Resort and Spa’ loosely. Airport to hotel transfer $120USD picked up in a rickety old van with petrol fumes for 2 hour drive….not an ideal first impression. Not sure how this is part of the Wirdana chain. Hotel: Deserted and empty…Doesn’t feel very safe, stray dogs and only men on property. Attacked by dogs at night, told staff, they were unresponsive or phased. Pool not clean, so we didn’t use it. No spa/wellness/yoga readily available Rooms: Little to no toiletries (empty shampoo) No hand towels No emptying bins (ants) No glasses/cutlery/crockery 4 small bottled waters provided No mini bar No coffee machine No kitchen towels No handwash No phone in villa to contact reception No AC in living room Minimal towels for 6 person villa Towels smelt Weak wifi Sandy floor not cleaned Large and spacious and nice aesthetic Food: Hotel menu very minimal and when you order, don’t expect a decent portion nor anything that resembles the item on the menu. Even local Sri Lankan dishes look/taste nothing like what’s described or pictured.

The hotel is set on beautiful green grounds with peacocks, kingfishers, squirrels, and other animals running about. The staff was amazing, the food was really yummy, and the long swimming pool was great to swim a few laps in. I would be very happy to visit this hotel again.

In my room the shower was in the main bedroom area and not inside the bathroom, some people might find this awkward.

Wirdana Spa & Resort is nestled in the midst of the beautifully scented cinnamon trees. The grounds are well kept and everything is neat and tidy. Peacocks stroll around the garden and birds of every feather fly around the trees. The view from our table was majestic, morning, noon and night. The food prepared and served is top class. This goes for the local curries, famous dishes from the Indian cuisine as well as the western delicacies served. The staff is very helpful and will go far to accommodate your wishes. The rooms are simple, kept traditional Balinese style. Here is nothing superfluous to disturb you. For us, Wirdana Spa & Resort was the perfect place to calm down and relax after having travelled around Sri Lanka. Only ten minutes’ walk away you will find the cosy Bara Beach bar, where you can hang out during the day, refresh yourself in the waves and have a nice cold drink or two...

Even though the package with breakfast was been picked, we were told to select one from the menu and was not a buffet. It’s a family room that was selected, but there was no privacy to the washroom. Looked like a room for a couple that was extended. No TV. Couldn’t find any staff at the place after 6pm. There was a group at the hotel and was very loud. Staff should make sure as other guests also resides in the place to respect that as well. Complimentary tea was the sachet packets kept in the room, which is very basic for any hotel

As one could have expected, very much in the nature (including bugs in the room) which was a bit too much for us. For people that don’t mind insects, wouldn’t be an issue. The restaurant is pricey and not a big selection, but breakfast was nice.

Area was bit far away but if you are planning to stay in the hotel majority of the time it's fine. Swimming pool looked a bit dirty to swim in.

The location is about 15 mins from Galle, road leading to resort is pretty narrow. Breakfast has limited options for Veg folks but whatever was prepared was nice. The villas are a bit of a walk from the entrance, it was raining during our stay and had to cross wet grass to the villa.

If they could make a stoned path to the villas from the main entrance. Wifi speed could be improved.

Our stay at Wirdana Resort was simply amazing. The villa we stayed at was perfect with plenty of space and all the amenities we needed. The service from all the staff was wonderful. Lahiru and the rest of the team was just so friendly and kind and made our stay very enjoyable and comfortable. Loved that they are also pet friendly. In house dining was also delicious! Away from the hustle and bustle of the busy town of Galle, the entire property is so peaceful, beautiful, well maintained and the perfect place for a nice and relaxing holiday. Highly recommended. Will definitely come back.

The place is very clean, the staff is friendly and the owners were super nice and helpful. The wifi in the room was very strong. The room was huge and just like it shows in the photos. There are a lot of beautiful animals in the gardens of the property (peacocks, squirrels, kingfisher) so it's very peaceful to stay outside and just relax. They organise a free tuk tuk in the first day for me to go to Galle Fort.

Just minor things... The location is a bit away so you will need a tuk tuk to go everywhere. There was 1 or 2 cockroaches behind the sink in the toilet

Off the beaten track, but so quiet and serene with just the noise of the surrounding countryside. enjoyable stay with good staff and good breakfast. The swimming pool was great and the room was very rural but clean and comfortable.

The room was unique and spacious

The service and facility was the worst I have ever seen for a 4 or 5 star rated hotel. 1. When I arrived at hotel before 6pm, only 6pm, there was already no one to check you in. just a guy that led you into a room. 2. I misremembered that I booked breakfast and originally said no need. but when I figured out that I booked breakfast and came out at around 8pm, there was almost no one in the hotel. I searched hardly and found a guy, telling him that I need the breakfast next day morning at 8am. but when I get up sharp on time, there is no breakfast and I waited for 20mins to just get a menu. 3. There is no hot water for shower in the room. And when I came out again at ~10:45pm, there was literally no one in the hotel. I have to yell at the resort for somebody, literally yell!, and knock the door of locked manager’s office. the noise finally got me somebody, and he turned on a button, but STILL no hot water! I had to shower in cold water in a hotel I paid for 4 or 5 star hotel price. 4. There is no Wi-Fi in the room. The guy leading me to the room told me the PW is on the machine. I tried more than 10 times, it kept telling you PW incorrect, and you can find nobody to solve the issue.

This hotel is the epitome of deception. The experience was bad. There are better hotels (beach-facing) in the locality. The staff was absent the entire stay. The hotel looked abandoned and unkept. The price was not at all worth it. Would not at all recommend this hotel

The villas were spacious and perfect for families. Very friendly staffs.

Could do with a small makeover and get a good chef in place. Half of the menu was unavailable for breakfast.

Everything amazed us at Wirdana, the staff are like a family and work so hard to ensure you have a wonderful stay. The manager went above and beyond for us to enjoy our time. We spent over a week here with our kids. Was heaven. Will miss it a lot.

The hotel is exceptionally beautiful and breakfast was superb. The pool is as good as it looks. The staff were generally very nice. The manager was in a tough position, however. The hotel is up for sale and the owner has reduced what services are available i.e. the spa wasn’t operating and we wanted a massage and the restaurant wasn’t operating. The nearest good restaurants were quite far.

1. No lunch, dinner, or drink service. The chef moved to Malaysia or the owner decided not to have a chef during low season. Depends on which member of staff is telling you. This made it very difficult to laze around the pool for the afternoon because we had to leave the hotel to eat. As it’s far from restaurants this was not convenient. 2. We did not get the room we booked. The room we got for the first night was fine. We moved into the suite we booked for the second night. 3. The beautiful spa wasn’t operating and we wanted a massage.

Place is an amazingly beautiful located very close proximity to Galle City. Very peaceful place well maintained and was a treasure hidden within. Amnesties were very good for the price we paid for the entire villa.

Should have had a mirror each in each of the rooms

The Wirdana is a fabulous place and only 10 minutes walk to a quiet beach. The staff is very attentive. The food is very good. Thank you Sanju and Shan for all your help. We had a fantastic stay.
