Good location for athletes of National Regata.
You forgot to prepare single bed for my kid. I had to complain about that to staff member in Restaurant. We have beet tired after long journey. The bed was made during our prebooked dinner in Gamston Lock restaurant. Booking was for 8.00 pm. Waiting time for a meal was more then 60min.
Staff, Breakfast, Room all very good.
Comfortable, welcoming and friendly.
Très bel établissement, personnel très gentil et efficace, le lit était au top 👌 le repas excellent ainsi que le petit déjeuner
excellent breakfast and brilliant breakfast team
quite slow checking in hotel at 5pm
the breakfast was well cooked . the room was very clean and welcoming
there was nothing i did not like
Very comfortable room
Nothing
Did not take breakfast.
Nothing
Comfortable beds, good sound insulation, thermostat in room to control temperature
No shelf in bathroom to put toilet bag etc - this may be due to the design of the accessible facilities
Stayed this weekend for the fourth year and as always comfortable well equipped rooms. Staff friendly and more than welcoming will definitely stay again
Clean and tidy. Good pub next door
It was a bit noisy due to plumbing sounds
Check in was very easy. Room was easy to find. Bed was big.
Firstly I noticed the hot drink station was lacking. Mugs and glasses were a decent size but it contained TWO tea bags, TWO sugar packets, TWO sweeteners, four coffee bags but TEN milk packets. We couldn't easily request more either because we would've needed to go into the pub. In room 212, there wasn't a toilet roll holder but the marks still on the wall, we had 1 and 1/2 rolls of toilet paper. The sink was covered in dark fluff. One light in the bathroom didn't work. Bath was a bit grimy. In the main room, scuffs and marks up every wall. Loud vent unit outside window. Doors banging at 5am. Ceiling had dust and cobwebs on it. We left at 10:15 and there was already the doors to rooms open with clean sheets laying on the carpet outside, leaves still on the carpet so it hadn't been hoovered yet. I didn't expect much which is why it met my expectations.
Convenient for our needs
To reception not good
Nice little beer garden and pub/restaurant on site. Country park 2 minutes away.
Very friendly and helpful staff
For me as a large person. I could have done with a more comfortable chair in the room. However the bar was comfortable!
Location very convenient. Ample parking . Option on daily cleaning and towels.
We applaud the eco friendly approach but would like a separate bin for recycling - not leaving it on the floor!
It’s in a great location for us and staff and very friendly.
Room was in need of a refresh. Dirt on carpet, damage in bathroom, cobwebs all over walls and ceiling and bed mattresses probably due replacing.
Excellent location, food was fresh and hot. Staff very friendly.

Great location. Free parking. Clean comfortable rooms. Friendly and helpful staff.
A bit of confusion with ordering breakfast due to combination of table and self service.
Rooms have the amenities you would require
Very dusty No ice on a very hot day
The staff were friendly, the room easily accessible, restaurant pleasant and really easy to get to where we needed to go. Also had electric charging points which was a huge bonus.
The room wasn’t clean - there was make up residue all over the table, which I cleaned, the room was damp, a fridge was outside the bedroom window (I assume broken). The bathroom was clean. The carpets weren’t clean. The bed was comfortable.
Modern room, plenty of free parking
Bathroom smelt of drains, breakfast a little overpriced
Lovely, spacious room. Very clean and breakfast excellent!
Very friendly staff
Check in was a little slow, as reception was based in the bar, with the staff covering both roles.
Location close to family we were visiting and restaurant was good- family enjoyed Sunday dinner.
Trouble adjusting the air conditioning unit. Duvet too warm for the hot weather.
Evert things was great food was amazing
Good
Bathroom
We have stayed at Gamston Lock numerous times to visit family in the locality. It is an ideal location, bus stop right outside. It is very quiet at night where the bedrooms are located away from the Pub/Restaurant area. There is air conditioning in the bedrooms too. It is clean & reasonably priced, especially mid week. The staff are very helpful & friendly.
I was traveling with my family (wife + 2 young boys) and we used this as a half way stopover to break up a long drive back home. Overall the hotel was easy to find and in a good location, with the space provided in the family room being adequate for all of us. Also for the price point the room and facilities were clean and well equipped.
I did't like that the check in was located inside the adjacent pub, and that you are only informed of this via a sign when you enter the lobby of the hotel itself. This could be made more obvious prior to entering the hotel. But this is a very minor thing.
Clean and friendly
Nothing
Temperature of room good. Bed very comfortable. Staff friendly.
Not great smell. Bathroom poor. Room very tired looking.
It was really spacious for us as a family of 4. And the beds were comfy
I didn't like that the wall by the kettle was dirty and that the shower didn't have the shower hose with head.
Very comfy beds, quiet and lovely pub
The room was modern, beds were comfortable.
The room was dirty. My partner has sent in pictures. Pulled out the beside cabinet to use as a table and it was filthy behind, a line of dust all around the edge of the carpet, flys on the Windowsill and the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned into the door corner. Also a constant running leak on the bath. We didn’t want to say anything at the time as we didn’t want to put a damper on the Wedding festivities.
Good size room, good tea/coffee etc, lovely staff.
No anti slip mat in shower
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding hospitality before, during and after our wedding We stayed at the Gamston Lock for our wedding on 20th July, booking four rooms through Booking.com for ourselves and our family, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. A special thank you has to go to the manager, Leo, whose kindness, flexibility and genuine care made such a difference. We visited before the wedding to discuss our plans, and from that moment he went above and beyond to make everything as stress-free as possible. Knowing I would be getting ready there as the bride, Leo very kindly upgraded us to a spacious family room, giving me plenty of space to get ready with my hair and makeup artists without feeling cramped. He thoughtfully added extra mirrors, supplied plenty of additional towels, and gave us multiple room key cards so that my suppliers could come and go easily throughout the morning. It was clear he had genuinely thought about what a bride would need, and those little details made a huge difference. Leo also reserved an area where our party of ten could all sit together, making it so much easier to spend quality time together before the celebrations began. When my cousin Paul decided to book a room at the last minute, Leo somehow managed to rearrange bookings and accommodate him too. Nothing ever seemed too much trouble. Throughout our stay, Leo and the entire team continually checked that we had everything we needed. He even very kindly cancelled a pre-ordered meal I’d arranged for the evening before the wedding, without any fuss, when our plans changed. That level of understanding and customer care is increasingly rare and was hugely appreciated. Every room was spotless, comfortable and equipped with air conditioning, which was an absolute blessing during the July heatwave. The rooms were close together, making everything easy for our family, and there was ample parking for all our guests.
The only minor improvement that could be made was the quality of the bread at breakfast—get some decent sour dough. Ditch the cheaper sliced bread. That’s all!
Clean, tidy,staff nice
Nil
Well sized room and perfectly comfortable.
No complimentary water. No fridge and you have to request an iron if needed.
The staff were great.
Clean and comfortable. Air conditioned .
Although breakfast was cooked to order, the avocado was guacamole and the appearance of the breakfast on the plate was poor.
Breakfast fits the bill whether it’s a small or large one. Great location for Nottingham (there’s a bus stop very near) and rooms have good air on.
Bathroom was clean but some nooks and crannies could be cleaner!
Clean, great location, good breakfast
Nothing
The geographical location and convenience in relation to main roads. The breakfast offered was excellent value. The staff most pleasant and helpful.
The room albeit very basic was clean and acceptable. Still quite expensive though.
Wonderful accommodation. Icy cold aircon which was bliss in this heatwave (adjustable of course). Extremely comfy beds. Very highly recommended
Only issue was my hands aren't strong enough to squeeze the toiletries dispensers. Luckily someone had left a bottle of Carex Handwash
Very clean easily accessible

The convenience for the proximity of the event we attended
We forgot to tick age of child on booking so were given a travel cot for a 14 year old! The manager would not help us basically & we should put her on the floor for 2 nights as he apparently didn’t have any spare fold up beds & we booked through a third party Fortunately someone in another room gave us a bed as family rooms have a double & 2 single beds which we had to drag to our room The manager showed no empathy to our situation the only help offered was to move to a different room for 1 night and then back to the travel cot really rubbish customer service
Good location for my trip, quiet room. Good air con
No iron/board in the room, instructions to return to reception if required. TV reception is poor. Would prefer a walk in shower rather than a step in over bath shower.
Location and rooms functional but spacious. Comfortable bed.
Pub very loud with karaoke on Friday night. Garden area not clean….rubbish and cigarette ends everywhere!
Great place to stay. Clean, smart, air con, nice staff
Nothing
Clean, easy to find, comfy, good parking, breakfast , good value for money
Air con was a bit noisy TV signal was poor untill you hit bigger nos
All very accessible
Seeing a insect trap or mouse trap
Great location, plenty of parking and warm and friendly staff
Key card lighting in room meaning if one person leaves they can't take card to get back in. It wasn't worth raising for just one night and they might very well offer another card if you ask
Very clean and tidy perfect for what we needed. Comfortable and quiet good night's sleep. Easy check in and out. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and service was quick.
Clean rooms Great breakfast Close to Trent Bridge
Nothing to dislike
Great breakfast, comfy bed and value for money.
The air conditioning was welcome in the extreme heat. The room was clean and comfortable. The pub staff were friendly and helpful.
Nothing re the hotel. The pub could do with more staff.
The rooms had an air cooler which helped in the heatwave. Having somewhere right at your doorstep for dinner was good. Staff were always helpful and breakfast was ok.
We didn’t have the right amount of towels when we arrived. It took us a while to get towels but worked out in the end.
The breakfast is great & good parking
We have stayed here a number of years now & the property is starting to look rather tired & grubby loads of marks all on the walls & in need of a re-paint aircon doesn't seem to do anything & the view out of the window was a strip of grass with rubbish & stuff dumped out on it, could do with providing more extra pillows in the rooms.
Good wifi and large TV on wall. Parking good.
Location worked as close to Donington Park
Room was dirty the bathroom had clearly not been cleaned in a while which was evident by the toilet bowl and around the shower, the bed was horrendously hard
Great staff, nice, clean room and good bathroom facilities. Breakfast is very good value. We enjoy the hotel block being separate from the pub and restaurant.
The room and en-suite facilities were clean and well maintained. We did not eat breakfast but the lunch and evening meal choices and quality were both varied and of a good standard. The bar and restaurant staff were most polite and attentive.
Met our expectations.
Breakfast was great, staff were so helpful and accommodating. My son was sick and the staff were so supportive and helpful. Each staff member asked us about our travel issues and knew we had had a rough trip. So lovely and cannot fault them.
As we had broken down- we had a lot of stuff, wish there was a lift!
All the staff without exception were attentive. Informative of the local area.
Great it being dog friendly however, allowing the dogs to be on the seating was a little grose. One particular couple ordered a Sunday roast and fed their pet from a bowl on the seating . Maybe a sign to say a specific are for dogs to allow others traveling without their pet tube able sit without fear of staining clothes from muddy paws 🐾
Great location for visiting family in the area
Front door banging
Close to where we wanted to be for a wedding, and the staff were very friendly
The whole room for the price we paid could do with a revamp scuffs on the walls, where the toilet holder Had been removed, had been plastered over, but not painted silicone around the bath peeling away, stains on the stall to the vanity unit and the carpet stains on the ceiling next to the air-conditioning unit which made a horrible noise if you had it on. Breakfast in the morning was only a choice of cereal toast and a little bit of fruit for a Continental, and when I had the full Fryup I couldn’t finish it as it was very greasy like most of it had been deep-fried
Special mention to Tracy who went above and beyond at breakfast time, making sure that that our whole group (20+) managed to get their breakfast early before having to leave for a football tournament.
Clean and tidy. The staff were extremely accommodating and very professional.
Nothing.
Location for my event.
The pub was grubby especially the seating which was awful.
The staff were friendly and welcoming. We travelled as part of a large group with children and the restaurant and bar staff were very accommodating. Due to competing at a nearly competition, we had to be out early. The staff offered to open the breakfast 30 minutes early for us, which we hugely appreciated. The staff who served us breakfast in the morning worked so hard and made sure we were able to leave on time, particularly Tracey who was wonderful.
Great staff
A clean room marred by a lack of maintenance . The bed was comfy and the location convenient to visit the Great Central Railway Ruddington. We were able to get breakfast and pub grub at the pub and sit in the garden.
The TV was faulty, the door handle was loose on the bathroom door and could have fallen off , the part of tap for the shower was jammed and the hem was undone of one of the curtains.
Close to venue
Na
Great location
Great for the rowing lake
Expensive for what it is
The location was easy to get to and quiet. Dinner and drinks right at the hotel restaurant was pleasant. Cold ac in the rooms was fabulous.
The tv channels were mostly flickering if they came in at all. The breakfast was hectic with a crush of people and only one waitress which left a long wait time.
Location
Warm room & not very comfy beds
Location price clean comfortable
Parked under the trees in disabled bay car was a mess with stuff off the trees and bird poo had to go and have it washed
Modern and great location
The bar upholstery was in need of cleaning
Great location, swift check in. Was ideal for what we needed. And the beds were so comfy 👍
Very clean and welcoming
Bathroom wash basin to small
Great location for the purpose of visiting family . Easy to get to from motorway links. Lots of parking which was free. The room was ideal for the two of us. If we needed anything further staff were available to ask . Breakfast was good . Service was very good too.
For this trip it was ideal Nothing to add.
The location! So central I love it! Love the fact that the pub is on site too so you don’t have to wander far for food and drink! The staff are so good! Always helpful And friendly!
Nothing
Location was perfect for my stay
Room needed some work doing to it as shower was leaking and was lukewarm at best Lots of dust on clothes rack, found this out when we put fresh clothes on
It was clean and comfortable. In a good position. Ideal for national water sports centre. Ideal that it is next to the pub, food and drinks available but quieter as next door rather than above
Nothing
Location was perfect and the breakfast great value for money.
Very close to National Water Sports Centre, which is 5 minute drive. Good for a one night stay when competing in the Outlaw triathlon the following day.
TV didn’t work, Wi-Fi patchy, door handle to bathroom hanging off.
