Die Anlage als ganzes ist schön.
Unser Zimmer hingegen entsprach absolut nicht unseren Erwartungen. Eng, feucht, unkomfortabel, Küchenausstattung unzumutbar.
anuhea was so sweet! they were more than welcoming and the location was great - right across from coconut marketplace, but also we spent a bit of time on both the north and south shore and this was right in the middle so we never drove longer than an hour.
only thing that was slightly upsetting was that we never got leis.
ALL GOOD
ROOM NEEDED CLEANING MATERIALS UN ACCEEPTABLE
The location, the price, and the room were clean. The room may need some updates, but it serves its purpose.
Not much facilities and they ran out of pool towels and cooler to use for the day. The size of the pool is small and lacks much space if the hotel is in full capacity.
Excellent location: On the beach and next to Coconut marketplace. Love the board walk!
Noting other than location
The property didnt provide house keeping and cleaning services for 4 days. The room got really messy and with no trash bags provided the room became like a trash bin. Its not worth the money. The staff didnt clean the room even we requested it.
Right on the beach, beautiful plantation building. Room was clean and cosy, bed was comfy. Pool/Bar area was great. Staff were fantastic.
Cocktails could use an update.
Very comfortable, both the room and the amenities. Great pool.
Nothing!
We just finished a 7 night stay at the Aston Islander, we had a pleasant time but felt as though a few things could do with improving. Starting off with the positives, the staff are all super friendly and always willing to help you out, pool area is nice, good location, free parking and the marketplace next door was great to have on our doorstep! Unfortunately, our main negatives were to do with the room. It’s dated but I think that’s quite clear from the photos which didn’t bother us! However, what did bother us was the room was dirty. As hotel guests, we had 1 mid week clean but no toiletries were replaced. The worst part about the room was the lack of soundproofing! We had a connecting door in our room and you could hear every word that was being said next door! Not sure if we were just unlucky and had exceptionally loud neighbours but we heard shouting, hairdryers and showers at 1am… unfortunately this was quite a big let down for us. We won’t be staying again but can understand the appeal to others.
Die Lage war unschlagbar.
ease of walking to restaurant & shopping
shared public parking lot, mixed staff hospitality, oceanfront right on to public pathway - would prefer a room a bit into complex with view - rooms very dark & dated
Been at Islander on the beach now five times, four of the trips I went through VRBO or Airbnb rooms had great charm and most had lots of extras like ice chest , beach chairs , boogie boards ! This time I decided to go through Outrigger itself .. checked in and went to our room . It was oceanfront like we always get , nice little hotel room , we were told mid week room will be cleaned with new towels and sheets .. kinda reason I when through hotel .. I knew all others I had rented from owners would not get cleaned. So midweek came and went by that time I decided I’m not gonna say anything, we were able to exchange beach towels, that’s one thing that you couldn’t do if you rent from owners. Room did come with a microwave and a small refrigerator, which was nice. Used it a bunch. Used to have fresh coffee in lobby but that ended during Covid .. I certainly will stay again because location is awesome and ocean front is wonderful. Nice walking path .. small beach but watch for rocks . Lava Lava beach club is next door !!
We had a wonderful stay at Aston Islander on the Beach! We were fortunate to receive an oceanfront room, and waking up each morning to the incredible views was truly the highlight of our trip. The property is beautifully maintained, with lush tropical landscaping and a peaceful atmosphere that made it easy to relax. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a great stay. The location is excellent—close to shopping, restaurants, and beaches, making it easy to explore the island while still enjoying a quiet place to come back to. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely choose Aston Islander on the Beach again on our next visit to Kauaʻi. Mahalo for a memorable vacation!
location is great, and that's the only positive thing about this hotel. Rooms are 200 years old with bad smell and uncomfortable beds. I would not recommend. Pay a little more and stay at a "hotel". Peggy and other lady front desk folks are great though.
The landscaping was nice.
The check-in process took 3 tries to find a room. Room 1 had standing water on the entire floor. Room 2 was occupied when we opened the door! Room 3 was dirty but, it was where we stayed. The bathroom tub and fixtures were rusty and pitted. The walls and floor were grimey. There was cockroaches in the bathroom. I authorized an amenity hold on my credit card but, the hotel continued to charge my card each night for the daily rate of our stay!
Nada
Nadie me solucionó.
If it weren't for the horrendous customer service I received at check-in, I would have given this hotel a higher rating. Unfortunately, the service I experienced was some of the worst I've ever encountered. After a seven-hour flight and waiting three hours to check in, I was greeted at the front desk with complete indifference. I had originally reserved two rooms, but was only given information for one. When I pointed out the mistake, I received no apology—only attitude and annoyance from the staff. The problems didn't stop there. The air conditioning did not work properly, the rooms were filthy, and the overall condition of the property was far below expectations. I am not someone who leaves negative reviews lightly, but this experience was genuinely disappointing from start to finish. There are plenty of other options in the area. I would strongly recommend booking with Hilton or another hotel that values its guests and provides the level of service travelers deserve.
The staff though incredibly understaffed tried their very best to do a good job, they were all very sweet and kind. It's not right the work load that some of them had as only 1 staff member worked the desk during check in with a lobby full of waiting customers.
This place is sad. We waited 1.5 hours after check in for our room. The rooms are really small and smelled like smoke. The two full sized beds as seen in the pictures are actually one full sized bed and a TERRIBLE couch hideaway bed that was like sleeping on bars because the mattress was so thin. When asked why we didn't get two actual beds they said that Booking.com wasn't honest about what the rooms are ready like. The pictures are VERY deceiving. This was not at all like it was described. The pool/ TINY hot tub was also really gross. We were very disappointed! We would not come back.
Easy access to the beach and lots of restaurants within walking distance.
Beds could be a bit more comfortable.
Upon last minute reservation arrival, my room read 50 degrees on the temperature guage and staff could not resolve. After a few hours, I was moved to a 3rd floor room (no elevator) and that room was OK. However, I had to pursue a room change for several hours with the staff as no maintenance was on site apparently. I would not recommend this hotel or the specific area as it is older and out of date. I was not initially given any recommendations for dining, nothing on site, and I found a pizza place open. Next day, I found a nice beach side restaurant next door, had I known, it would have made my one night there a LOT better.
We've been to Kauai three times and always stay here. The grounds are beautiful and the staff always goes the extra mile. We always get a room with an ocean view.
We loved the location on the island and the tropical landscaping was well kept up. However we were not informed when we were booking that these units were privately owned. Unfortunately unit #360 that we were given with the ocean view we paid for had a very cloudy sliding glass door that affected our ocean view if you wanted the air on (it was hot during the day) keeping the sliding glass door closed. There was a very dirty/rusted compressor unit for the air on the lanai that was not pleasant to look at. There room was clean and just modestly updated which was ok. When I mentioned be disappointed regarding the cloudy sliding glass door that is when the person at the front desk told us they were privately owned and the owner would most likely not replace the window unless it affected the rental of their unit. If you book here, I don’t recommend unit 360 and be aware they are privately owned and may affect how updated the decor is in the room you get.
Location and landscaping was perfect. This is the third time we have stayed there.
It has become very run down over the years. Floors on the hotel room were filthy. The bathtub soap dish was missing from the wall and covered with a piece of plastic. The bottom exterior of the tub was rusting. It appeared that no maintenance or upkeep has been done for a while.
Everything was great except the door to our room was super hard to open
Make door easier to open
Great location
Cramped quarters, tired accommodations
Beautiful setting.
They have beautiful property next to the ocean and bike/walking path. Great location close to shops and restaurants. I had a nice ocean view and the room was clean but could use some updating and is a little small for the 1 bedroom. The beach is a good place to swim but there is a nice beach close by. It was very quiet and peaceful. This is a 3 story property without elevators. The service from the team was friendly and helpful.
The landscape next to the ocean is beautiful.
I did not have hot water until my last day there.
Our room was great and the oceanfront location was amazing. The pool bar was great. We liked all of the bartenders. Some music by the pool and pool bar would be nice.
Could use a slight update. Additional kitchen counter space would be nice.
Ocean view and adjacent to Coconut Marketplace and Farmers Market
Sheets were worn through in some small places. Chicken kept roosting for the night on our third floor lanai. Didn’t know one small bird could poop that much.
Great location on the beach. Walking path alongside the beach, which goes for miles if you like. My room location request was fulfilled. The room was perfect for my needs. I wish the overhead light in kitchenette worked. The office staff were great, and special kudos to Peggy who goes above and beyond with answers to your questions and other needs.
Everything met my expectations, and I would stay here again!
Location near beach.
Room was clean, but old and could use update. (door to lanai was ‘cloudy’, I expect from the seal damaged for the double paned glass). Interior of AC unit (on lanai) looked dirty, so we didn’t use it.
Location
Very dirty room. Outdated furniture. Uncomfortable bed. Overpriced.
Excellent location especially with the ocean in the front and Coconut Marketplace in the back of the resort that helps us to shop around and buy food with many convenient stores.
The property itself is actually very nice. The location is great, the grounds are beautiful, and it looks like it could be a really enjoyable place to stay. Unfortunately, the rooms are completely overrun with cockroaches. We saw multiple roaches crawling around the room and bathroom during our stay. It completely ruined the experience. It’s a shame because the hotel has a lot of potential, but the pest problem makes it impossible to feel comfortable staying here.
We stayed a couple of nights in February at the end of a longer trip. Overall we were pleased with the property. Pros: Good location - on the beach, with shops, restaurants, etc. all walking distance. Pool and hot tub area was very nice, and the bar area was fun and lively in the afternoons. The staff we encountered both at the front desk and the bar were friendly and engaging. Cons: We paid in excess of $1K for 2 nights for an "oceanfront" room. My expectations and what their website pictures portrayed were different than what I got. The building my room was in lied perpendicular to the ocean, not parallel, so my view was actually a side ocean view with a view of the building next door. I have booked many oceanfront rooms over the years, and this one was pretty disappointing. I would classify this room as "oceanview" not "oceanfront".....which was a definite price difference. Passing along as something to be aware of if you book direct with Aston....you may not get the room you see in the pictures. While the pool area was very nice, the pool was cold and unheated. This may not be an issue on a sunny 80-85 degree day, but unfortunately, the weather when we were there was cool and overcast, so we weren't able to use the pool. One last thing to be aware of, the complex itself is large and very spread out. If you have any mobility issues, this could prove to be a problem, depending on what room class you book. It was quite a trek from where the parking area is and where our room was located, and we were on the 3rd floor with no elevators. We're both in good shape, so it wasn't an issue for us, but the long walk to our building and schlepping luggage up 2 flights of stairs would have been an issue for our 80 year old parents. Overall, I liked the Hawaiian vibe of the property and the location, so I would stay here again, but I would not pay extra for a view unit unless I was booking direct with the owner and could see actual pictures.
Property needs a facelift
Kitchen was extremely under-equipped
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We enjoyed our room which had a great view of the ocean and was literally only steps away! The room was clean and had everything we needed. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Very centrally located near shops, restaurants, tours and a host of beaches.
Loved the location and the staff- pool bar was amazing!
Slightly dated - no elevators
There are oceanfront properties on either side of this one. I would not go back to this one. At over $400 a night it was not worth the price. The front desk people were all nice except one. There is no help available for dragging your luggage up and down the stairs. The rooms are in serious need of updating to include things like charging ports. The amenities listed in the resort fee were not provided like daily coffee from Imu Coffee.
We loved everything about this stay. The staff was great, the rooms perfect, an absolute perfect location right on the ocean. We loved the pool, the hot tub, the bar/restaurant, everything. Can't wait to go back there!!!
I love the location, being close to so many amenities.
The staff at the front desk gave horrible customer service.
This property was located in a central area that helped in shopping/ eating.
The property was somewhat dated in some areas like the bathroom.
Free two hour bike rental was a nice perk Proximity to Lava Lava Lounge chairs on the beach Lotion, shampoo and conditioner smelled nice
Room smelled musty Some exteriors on buildings needed maintenance
It was the most affordable in short notice or booking
There was no blanket like comforter to keep us warm enough we used the pool Towels for extra warmth
Location was nice
The room was dirty
The location pool and bar
Rooms a little outdated string smell of mold
Connivence for me!
Clean and at the Beach
Gardening was nice
Booked a two bed room was given a one bed with a pull out. Would not lower or refund me partially for not getting what I booked.
Amazing location and amenities for a great price
Staff was friendly, location good
There was an undisclosed $75 per night resort fee!!! The room had 1 bed not 2, and sharing with my teenage son was extremely uncomfortable. And they didn't even clean the room during the stay. The pool was so over chlorinated that we had eye pain despite wearing goggles in it. But mostly it's that $75 PER NIGHT UNDISCLOSED RESORT FEE. Nothing like being there, having no options to go elsewhere and have the price go up that way to ruin a vacation.
It was clean and quiet and with beautiful grounds. Ladies at the desk were very friendly and helpful.
Rooms were dated, cables cords everywhere and 2 fridges but one didn’t work that taking lot of space. The bar by the pool was a downer, Christmas time and no festive lights no atmosphere.
We needed a one night stay near the Pono Kai resort, and this hotel checked all the boxes. Clean room, comfortable bed, ability to be checked in after hours, very gracious staff, quiet location, and our driver found it easy to pick us up the following day. We would select this hotel again should we need a brief stay in the Kapaa area.
It is expensive but the price is typical for this area of the island so not really under the Aston’s control.
The pool was clean and very nice. The grounds were very well maintained and the plants were beautiful. The paths were clear.
We were welcomed without the promised lei and the person who checked us in was very rude. We communicated our needs multiple times in advance, (having booked 5 rooms and needing 2 beds in some of them) and had been told that this would be accommodated. But at check in the person told us that this was a request and only a request and not all requests could be met. Having the needed number of beds on our vacation is a requirement. Once a different person took over the check in process, all was well and we got what we needed, but it was a very unpleasant way to start our vacation. The rooms were very dated, inconsistent (some had blackout curtains when others did not, some had two fridges, the bathroom fans were very noisy and dirty) and could use a fresh coat of paint.
When we arrived, we were given the wrong room—there are three of us, but the room only had one bed. We asked to be moved to the correct room, but were told the hotel was fully booked, so we had to make do with one bed and a couch. Unfortunately, we also noticed cockroaches in the bathroom, which was disappointing. That said, the location is definitely the highlight of this hotel. Being so close to Coconut Mall was extremely convenient and made getting around easy.
Location is very convenient to explore the island, a seal came the beach yo rest- nice experience A bit of infrastructure just walking: ABC and other stores, places to eat
We booked a room with 2 double beds, however at check-in we were given a room with one double bed and a couch, such was not optimal, but according to the receptionist, this way it was communicated through booking.com… was not possible to change the room as the hotel was full. Otherwise, great experience
The location was great! Also Peggy was about the only friendly person on the staff. I give it up to her giving this place a three star and not one star. The grounds were nice.
The lady with the dark black hair that checked us in at night was horrible. She should not be dealing with costumers at all. She was very rude to my husband and kept dismissing him as if he was in the room. She had us sign paper work without explaining what the charges were and I was trying to ask her I want the explanation of what it is that I’m signing before I sign it, which is legally what you do. We got our key and never that free drink voucher just coupons to use across the street and a free movie coupon. So we climb up to the third floor to our room open the door and right away your hit with an odor of old Misty smell. We hear this alarm sound coming from the room and we’re like what the heck is that turns out it was the AC unit. We just got in at a late flight. Couldn’t get any sleep all night because of the AC and you can’t turn it off and leave your door open because it’s so hot outside. We had to call down the next day and Peggy was at the front desk, which was just a delight to meet her and she saved us a fan for her room. The room itself was dirty wasn’t clean properly. You open the cabinet where the ironing board in the lock box is and it’s just smelly like mold in there. Everything‘s outdated the furniture needs to be updated. It’s just very old and not taking care of the drain in the bathtub. Has a broken seal. That’s been just left their broken which I took photos of everything. For the price that they’re charging $200 a night to 250 is totally not worth it. Go look for another place. The swimming pool is not big enough for all those units as well.
Excellent stay! Hotel was stunning and very accommodating. Private bars and beaches. Friendly staff and clean rooms. Thank you!
Clean and comfortable
Nothing
Location was great, pool and beach area were fabulous.
Room had a musty/mold smell and felt very damp and humid in the room. We were supposed to have 2 queens and ended up with 1 king and a sofa bed.
Beauty of the grounds and view of the ocean
We were on the top Floor with golf clubs. No elevator.
An honest slice of Kauai life. A pleasant unpretentious facility which makes one feel at home. Within walking distance to many local eateries.
Beautiful and location was good.
Beachside, quiet, close to shopping and restaurants
AC unit made a vibrating noise and we had hit it slightly on a recurrent basis to make it stop
Good location and good restaurants close to the property.
Beautiful grounds, very relaxing. Close to stores, ABC store and many restaurants Loved the balcony to listen to the birds and feel the cool ocean breeze and read. the pool and jacuzzi area was too small for the amount of people.. Shower drain was plugged, tub stained, old shower head, needs updating. They have a tv but not streaming or cable, you have to get 1 dvd at a time in the lobby. Only had 1 outlet to charge electronics. No elevator. Overall a great hotel.
a nice mid point to go around the island. It was beach front, but We didn't go to the beach as everyone said there was rip currents. Clean room, balcony. Close to shops. Hawaiian Toiletries. Beautiful grounds.
only one outlet near the table and one in the bathroom. no smart tv, cable or even local channels. They had dvds but you could only get one out a time so if you stayed up late you need to walk back to the lobby to get another in the middle of the night . Shower was outdated, stained and drain clogged. Pillows were flat, beds were semi comfortable. Pool was too small for the amount of people. No ice or elevator
Location
Front desk woman
This was our second stay at the Aston Islander on the Beach. We returned after many years and loved it as much as our first trip. The room was spacious and the air-conditioning was very good, excellent temperature! We enjoyed the convenience of the local restaurants and market within walking distance. The beach path was great for our morning walk.
Geräumiges Apartment mit direktem Meeresblick. Super freundliches Personal und viele Shops in fussläufiger Umgebung. Kostenloses parken.
Kein Room Service
Nice Clean older hotel where everything is well kept. Great views and easy access to just about anything that you would need while on vacation. We would stay there again!
Giardino
Beach view Terrace Sun lounger at the beach
Everything according to our expectation
dirty gray towels ,,fridge leeked water onto floor and roosters wakeing me up at 4:00 in the morming
Location was great. A strip mall area right there with everything you could need. The grounds were lovely. Not a huge chain hotel setting, but more laid backed, rustic place. Hotel is older and could use updates to the rooms, but comfortable enough. Nice that there was a bar on site but hours were quite limited. Only received housekeeping services if you stay five nights. We were only there four, but feel after two or three days they could have come and did some light cleaning like sweep sandy floors, remove trash, and exchange used bath towels. You’re getting what you pay for.
Location is exceptional, room cleanliness is great, very friendly and helpful staff! I will return and will recommend this hotel to friends and family.
Location & value
Clean room
Amazing property and location. The grounds were well kept, with flowers growing everywhere! The room was clean and cozy with a beautiful ocean view. We requested a 3rd floor Ocean Front room, and I highly recommend that. Awesome view of the ocean and sunrise every morning from the lanai. Quiet and peaceful, with good air conditioning. Easy access to chairs at the beach and pool every day. Easy parking and access to great food and shopping at the Coconut Marketplace and surrounding locations. The front desk staff was a little impatient and disinterested the few times we needed anything, but they always got us what we needed. We would've preferred more frequent room cleaning and service than once in 6 days. The one day it was scheduled we were gone all day until 4pm, and the room wasn't serviced until 4:30pm.
The whole thing was great, comfortable ,clean rooms, with all of the things that you would need to make your stay one to remember and cherish . the layout of the hotel was great with trees and amazing flowers everywhere. with the beach a short walk across the grass ,then into the warm pacific ,flanked by beautiful palm trees , a true vision of a Hawaiian holiday. the staff were very helpful , the poolside bar was a great place to have a drink at the end of the day. we would have loved to have stayed longer.
Outstanding view. Faulty a/c. Very pleasant experience
