Lovely hotel, looks even better than the photos. Clean and comfortable and decently sized rooms. Great base for travel around the island
We liked the hotel location and the room but the staff made the stay perfect
parking after 4 pm was a challenge
Extremely comfortable stay, huge room and great amenities. Hot tub and pool until 10pm. Room had very modern amenities and you couldn’t miss anything. We felt really comfortable and can‘t complain about anything. Free parking, even valet included.
Restaurant is too pricey for small portions and staff but many shops right next door.
Friendly staff good location
Nothing
The location to the Cocoanut Market was great. Location for pick-up was good. Didn’t have to walk far to be picked up Staff was excellent, dining was close and good, family friendly. Relaxing. The beds were great. Water stations were nice.
Thought that some rooms actually faced the ocean, disappointed that none did. No pool or beach staff, wanted to lay by the pool or beach and have a mai tai, that was not possible Couldn’t charge room for food or drink, had to have money or credit with you
L habitacio correcte , pero he pagat un recarrec de vista mar i no tenen habitacions vista mar. Ja us he fet la reclamacio.
Prime location right on the beach and convenient to everywhere. Staff was welcoming and friendly. The grounds kept beautifully and clean.
Fantastic property that is in a convenient location to everything. The staff were wonderful and great with kids. We were able to check in early and enjoy the pool right outside our bedroom. The beach is beautiful to walk along and we loved Lava Lava beach club right on site. Highly recommend!
The property is beautifully renovated, comfortable and tropical.
After booking a pool view room, we did not realise there is a second pool whose location is not as desirable as the main pool and we were overlooking this pool. This did seem somewhat misleading as it does not appear in the hotel photos.

The location and the facilities were great! It’s so close to a shopping area with good food and has a great restaurant/bar on the property. The setting is gorgeous! It’s right off a walking path and lovely adjacent beaches that were a little calmer than the one on front of hotel. There’s a big grassy area with games, a sweet swing on the lovely beach-so many fun things! The staff was super nice and helpful!
Beach break was a little too rough for casual swimming-but the hotel was so awesome, we’d stay again and just walk a bit further other beach options.
Great hotel with a nice pool and adjacent seashore. Our newly renovated room with 2 queen beds was large and comfortable. The “Coconut Marketplace” is located right next door with several shops, restaurants and a large grocery store, which is very convenient.
Danke an Angela!!❤️

I absolutely loved my stay at the beautiful Kauai Shores Hotel! I stayed in a kitchenette and appreciated all of the amenities that came with the room, especially because access to the pool was only steps away, so lovely! The room was super spacious, very clean and had ice cold AC, which is perfect for the hot July weather. The property grounds are very well maintained and so beautiful! Kauai Shores Hotel truly makes the stay feel warm & welcoming, prefect Ohana vibes! Me and my Ohana love staying at this hotel year after year. Of course, we enjoyed food & drinks at the hotel restaurant, Lava Lava Beach Club, a must! Love the location as we are right next to coconut market place which holds a variety of stores & shops as well as the ocean which has a beautiful sunrise to start your mornings! So many memories made at this hotel and can’t wait to make more! Mahalo Kauai Shotes Hotel, I’ll definitely be back!
My Ohana and I rented a few kitchenette rooms to celebrate my sister’s birthday and my nephew’s 2nd birthday, and we had an amazing time! 🎉 From the moment we arrived, all of the employees were so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The property itself was absolutely beautiful—the grounds were well-maintained, tropical, and the perfect place to relax and enjoy quality time with Ohana. The kitchenette was stocked with everything we needed, making it easy to cook breakfast and lunch together. One evening, we had dinner at Lava Lava Beach Club, and it was delicious! The service was excellent, and the food was so ono. We also loved the lawn games—they were fun for both the kids and adults, and ending the evening around the fire pit made it even more special. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and made so many unforgettable memories celebrating together. We highly recommend staying here and can’t wait to come back for another staycation!🌺🌴
My family and I recently had the most amazing staycation at Kauai Shores, and I can’t say enough great things about our experience! From the moment we arrived, every staff member made us feel welcomed and valued. A huge mahalo to the front desk team, maintenance staff, grounds crew, and housekeeping. Every single person went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Their kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail truly made a difference. The newly renovated rooms are absolutely beautiful—modern, spacious, clean, and very comfortable. You can really see the care and effort that has gone into updating the property. The grounds are also well maintained and create such a relaxing island atmosphere. Thank you to the entire Kauai Shores team for making our staycation one to remember. We left feeling refreshed and already can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kauai or even locals looking for the perfect staycation!
This hotel is great for families with children. The pool areas, lawn and beach are all friendly for kids, and we experienced a festive atmosphere in the evenings there.
Excellent hotel with beautiful rooms and grounds. Especially loved the free valet service. This is a perfect hotel for families. Awesome location and wonderful staff. We stayed there 9 times in the past 2 years!!!
Kauai Shores proved to be a great choice for my wife and me. We're not big, posh resort people and Kauai Shores was the perfect setting in a central location on Kauai. We found the hotel to be comfortable and updated with spacious rooms, a beautiful shoreline, and very good restaurant right on the beach. We experienced attentive staff and well tended grounds. One of the things we really liked is the central location on the east shore. Kapa'a is halfway to everything including Hanalei and Princeville (north) and/or Poipu (south) and only 6 miles from the airport. The Coconut Marketplace right next door proved to be very handy for shopping, meals and groceries and since we had a room with a kitchenette, we appreciated the twice weekly Farmers Market. Since the hotel is located on the east shore, there were breath taking sunrises every morning. A bicycle path is adjacent to the hotel and Kauai Shores has a number of bikes available to check out. On return trips, Kauai Shores will again be our home away from home.
First room that was most expensive ( one with kitchenette) was not worth the cost. Door had huge gaps that let out the AC. And situated next to the sanitation plant. Not what one would expect for a room of that cost. We downgraded rooms and the room was as we expected for the visit. Overall experience was great. Receptionists varied in quality. My son and I had same rooms with same notes. He experienced great support and was given a very good welcome. My wife and I were barely acknowledged by the girl helping us and were not offered the same things my son was. Our room packages were the exact same. Receptionist Chevy was the best!!!
The waitresses at the Lava Lava beach club were amazing along with the food. Our room was comfortable and clean. The hospitality was definitely a 10 out of 10. We will be back soon.
KSH is our location of choice anytime we are on the island. This was our 3rd trip to Kauai in the past 4 years and the experience at KSH has continued to impress us. The grounds are magical with the beach steps away, a pool, grassy areas to play with the kids, games and a wonderful restaurant (shoutout to Lava Lava Beach Club). The location is central to the island so getting to one side or the other is fairly easy and convenient. The hotel is adjacent to a shopping center that has a little market (which is useful), JoJo’s shaved ice and good eats. The staff is wonderful as well! Note that parking can be a challenge in the evenings as many folks come to visit the restaurant for dinner, but the hotel offers free valet services to guest. KSH has truly become a home away from home for us!
This is my third time returning to Kauai Shores and each time it’s amazing! It’s the perfect location to explore Kappa, the north shore of Kauai and head down to the Napali Coast and Waimea Canyon. The property is beautiful, well kept and right on the water. It is reasonably priced for Kauai and great for people of all ages. We love going to the Lava Lava beach club for food, drinks and live music in the evenings. We will be back! 🌴🌈
We spent five nights at Kauai Shores and were very pleased with its excellent location and cheerful atmosphere. Our room was clean, and the staff at the front lobby were friendly, professional, and informative. We especially appreciated the complimentary bike rentals and the free valet parking, which helped address the limited parking situation. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, and we would gladly recommend Kauai Shores to friends and family.
GREAT ! The central location, the staff, the valet parking, the access to the beach, Lava-Lava Beach Club. You can get to the North shore or the South Shore in an hour or less. Restaurants, close. Coconut Marketplace with Island Markets, incidentally a good place to grab lunch or deli stuff for a picnic, drinks-including alcohol. AM Yoga. Bicycles. Very responsive staff if you have questions or concerns. Win! Win! Win! Not one negative thing about Kauai Shores.
Very affordable location, has two pools, beachfront location, and room was nice and clean.
Doesn’t have the best view from your room however it was one of the most affordable places we stayed on all of the Hawaiian islands. Not much parking available at night when people come to the lava lava beach club.
We liked the location, we liked the beach, we liked the room. We asked for an early check-in and they were unable to accommodate us. We arrived early anyway with the intention of dropping off our items and wandering around the town. We were pleasantly surprised when they were able to arrange an early check-in for us so that my family could get settled. It was a huge bonus. They took a lot of time and effort to make sure we were cared for. We ended up with a unit that contained a mini kitchenette. So helpful when needing to leave early and eat breakfast before the restaurant opens. Also, a lot of fun photo ops.. swings, signs, colorful backgrounds. Great opportunity for some memorable photos.
It was pretty perfect. Our lamp was a little dingy since, I assume, people had hung swimsuits off of it and it had rusted but that was the only thing I can think of and it was absolutely minor.
Klidná lokalita blízko obchodů a restaurací.
Cockroaches appeared in our room, and from the moment we first entered it, the floor was clearly not clean. There was dirt and crumbs on the carpet, making it obvious that housekeeping had not properly cleaned either the floor or the carpet. The reception staff showed a completely careless attitude after we reported the cockroaches and requested a thorough cleaning. The receptionist noted our request, but when we returned to the room, everything was in exactly the same unacceptable condition. After we were moved to a new (and slightly cleaner) room, another cockroach appeared on the wall within an hour. We immediately reported it to the reception, and we were offered a waiver of the resort fee (a total of $150). In our opinion, the hotel is not dealing with its cockroach problem appropriately, especially considering that it presents itself as a luxury resort charging $328 per night for a room. Our overall impression of the reception staff was that we were bothering them—even during check-in. They seemed more focused on other guests and answering phone calls than assisting us. We also requested written confirmation of the promised refund, but we never received it. Only after following up through Booking.com were we finally granted a partial refund for our stay. The poor standard of housekeeping was further demonstrated when we requested a refill of the body lotion. We even left the empty bottle with a note on the bathroom sink, yet it was not replaced or refilled. In our opinion, this is something that should be checked and replenished automatically, without guests having to ask for it. The resort also offers only a limited number of parking spaces, which are quickly occupied by hotel and restaurant guests. Valet parking is available, but our car was returned with a scratch along the side. Once again, the staff handled the situation with a very lukewarm attitude. One employee assured us that the manager would contact us, but to this day, no one has reached out. We definitely cannot recommend this hotel. Unless you want to spend your vacation dealing with an unhelpful and unprofessional reception staff, wasting valuable time and unnecessary energy instead of enjoying this beautiful island, it is best to stay elsewhere.
The access to the beach is really convenient. The room is spacious and decorated in a modern style. The free valley parking is a nice compliment as a parking lot gets busy at times.
We booked an ocean view room but originally were placed in the pool view room and the receptionist said that all rooms are ocean views and one has to get out of the room to see the ocean. That was disappointing. We eventually got an ocean room view, but would prefer getting a room we reserved on arrival. The outside AC units in some rooms were making a buzzing noise and looked being ready for the replacement or maintenance. I personally would prefer the cotton sheets as these may be more comfortable in the warm and humid climate, but it is a matter of preference.
Perfect stay, location, Lava Lava Beach club eats/drinks and topped it off with free bikes for us to ride around Kapa’a. Thoroughly enjoyed!
We had a magnificent 8 days at Kauai Shores Hotel. Many thanks for the wonder filled experience.
The property is so nice and clean…just steps from the ocean. Everything is thoughtfully decorated and beautiful. My daughter especially loved the Photo Booth in the lobby. There were many picturesque spots perfect for posting! The staff was courteous and friendly. This is the best value for your money on the island, and the location can’t be beat. The rooms were clean and updated. We loved our stay and will be back in the future!
Such a great location, clean, comfortable and chill. We would definitely stay here again.
We really enjoyed this hotel! Great location, super clean, updated rooms, free parking, on the beach, Would stay here again! Only downside is that parking fills up quickly so you have to valet. Valet is free but you need to tip.
The staff at Kauai Shores is excellent. From the front desk: Novelle, Chevy and Angela to the maintence guy-Robertino (showed us how to use our tv to watch World Cup) to Peter who keeps the grounds pristine and beautiful. They take pride in ensuring the visitors are comfortable and have what they need. The Lava Lava bartenders are very friendly and overall the place is centrally located, offer free bikes (the bike path is amazing and along the ocean) and they offer free valet parking. There is absolutely no reason to stay anywhere else. We enjoyed our 25th anniversary week long vacation at Kauai Shores.
This resort was very clean, fun and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
This is a nicely renovated property with updated rooms and amenities. The employees are fantastic, friendly, and helpful. Located on the ocean, it was great to eat meals at Lava Lava overlooking the Pacific. The pool is small for the size of the resort. An added benefit were the yard games. Disappointed that we paid an upgrade for an ocean view room, but they don’t exist on this property. I would consider staying here again, but if you’re dreaming about sitting on your room’s balcony with a tropical drink and viewing the waves lap at the shore, you won’t find it here.
The location of this place is prime. Having the restaurant and grass area there is also great. Rooms are spacious.
Cleanliness could be improved. Some staff could be a bit friendly. Some were really nice others not so much
We loved staying here. Walking right outside the door to the ocean made it amazing. The free valet parking was so helpful. Lava Lava Club was delicious. Our room was always clean. We stayed on the Lei building and really liked the location. The main pool was clean and warm, but busy at night. Free photo booth in the lobby was a fun extra.
ALL ALOHA !! Friendly BUTTONS Mahalos
Perfectly located on the beach with great food and kind staff.
Need to add fancy coffee to the menu mochas and lattes.
We stayed in room 139. The room was clean and the staff was excellent. The location is perfect. The restaurant has great food and a wonderful staff. I enjoyed the merchants in the lobby on Saturday night. I loved the jewelry and items they sold. It was reasonable and of high quality. I went with my family for my 47th birthday and I can’t wait to come back next year. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.
Our family stayed at this hotel. It was a fantastic stay. It is an older facility but beautifully maintained. The rooms are clean, bathrooms updated, staff exceptional. The restaurant food delicious. The grounds are so Beautiful. So much for couples and families to do.
Good location. Very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Novella was amazing.
The parking wasn’t the best. Crowded lot and shared with restaurant.
The Kauai Shores Hotel is a good value for the money. Great location on the Eastern side of the island. About 35 minutes to the North Shore (to the Waipa Shuttle stop for Kaena State Park) and 25 minutes to the South Shore. Kapaa is a cute town, and the hotel is next to the Coconut Marketplace (tons of shops and restaurants, as well as a grocery store with hot food for all meals). The hotel has around 10-12 bikes that guests can use for free (easy check-out/check-in), and the bike trail is right at the hotel. Super easy and worth spending an hour or half day taking the bikes and riding along the beach. The beach at the hotel is swimmable but there are small waves so it's not a calm beach where you can just float (like in the Caribbean). For those who like to snorkel, it's not water where you can snorkel. More body surfing and surfing. There are two pools and one hot tub. The hot tub is actually very good size and does get hot. One thing - there are hot tub rules posted but not strictly enforced. It was fine but there were children in the hot tub without direct parent supervision. Kids under 8 were not supposed to be in the hot tub at all but they always were, as well as kids 12 and under without parents. They were well-behaved and it's a family hotel, but once in a while it would be nice if it wasn't so crowded with kids. The pools are small (one in the back of the hotel is very small) but clean, and didn't have an issue finding lounge chairs which is always nice. Some things the hotel can improve: - the AC in the room didn't work great (the "auto" function didn't work so it was always on and didn't turn off at the desired temperature in the room). While it is good that the AC worked, it did freeze us out at night or had to get up and turn it off for a bit and then turn it back on. - yes, it's a tropical environment but there were some roaches in the bathroom. Thankfully, I didn't see it until our last night. - the "garden" room upgrade through Costco travel. Our room saw maybe a tree but our main view was the hotel laundry area. Again, for the price, we didn't say anything and stayed in our room. Note, the "standard" rooms near the parking lot probably had a view of another hotel or the street/parking lot. - the laundry room (where the microwave is) in the Lei building is a bit of a mess and not regularly cleaned. Great that there's a microwave in there and washer/dryer but it needs to be cleaned daily. Overall, it's a nice hotel for the price point. The grounds are beautiful, particularly the variety of flowers and plants. Only 10 minutes from the airport. The staff at the front desk are helpful and friendly. Lava Lava Beach Club (restaurant) is right on the beach with TVs (the NBA play-offs were on and it was nice to sit at the bar with a drink watching the game, with the ocean behind us!). Yes, it's a little pricey but all Kauai restaurants (particularly more touristy ones) were pricey. Note - Tony's Catch food truck is a couple of miles north and had the best poke bowl of all time at a reasonable price.
Picked location based on its proximity to beach and local areas. Followed them on instagram and scored a great price thanks for a Black Friday sale. Pros- free valet, rooms are new and clean and all of the staff were genuinely kind and helpful. The only con was the lack of beach chairs- but honestly we didn’t have a problem finding a spot on the 2-3 times we went. Highly recommend for all types of guests, grounds were very clean and well maintained. But the biggest takeaway was the kindness and professionalism of all of the staff members
We actually had a room booked down the road at a different hotel and upon arriving there with our toddler after traveling all day, we found out they made a mistake and gave our room to someone else. We were quite stressed as our toddler was exhausted and crying. Thankfully Kauai Shores had a room for us last minute. We were so impressed by our stay! The service was wonderful, room and grounds were so clean, the restaurant on the beach was fantastic! The beach was quiet and peaceful. What started out as a stressful thing ended up being a wonderful stay. We would definitely stay here again.
This place is a gem and the perfect place to stay for 3 nights. The property is beautiful and well maintained and the rooms are big and clean. The staff was so nice and welcoming. Laundry facilities were right on site and affordable. The bikes for use were an awesome bonus. We used them twice during our stay to ride up and down along the coast with the trail right next door to the hotel. The location was convenient to go north or south on the island. It was bliss to be able to wake up and go sit by the ocean to watch the sunrise. We are a couple but seemed like a nice place to bring a family with the pool and hot tub. I would stay here again!
Tolle Lage, freundlichen Person, schöne Zimmer
Gibt nichts zu bemängeln
Great budget friendly hotel, clean rooms, we enjoyed the resort amenities including valet service. The staff was very friendly, beachfront and in the center of most of the places we visited.
We returned to Kauai in May to celebrate my retirement and stayed once again with Kauai Shores. The online reservation process is very simple. Upon arriving on Kauai I received a text from Kauai Shores welcoming us and letting us know that they were expecting us. The check in was a breeze and the front desk surprised me with a delicious gift to celebrate my retirement! The hotel grounds are lovely with all the tropical flowers. Our ocean view room was so clean and quiet. Kauai Shores is centrally located on the island, providing easy access to restaurants, shopping, and traveling to other parts of the island. I will always recommend Kauai Shores to anyone planning a vacation to Kauai. I hope to return again one day!!!!
This hotel was so amazing from the very start with the booking process all the way to the end. The location is prime with awesome and fairly priced food just a few minutes walk away. The staff absolutely encompass the aloha spirit. Being born and raised on O'ahu and knowing the prices for the level of quality from this resort, I was expecting it to be way more pricey but it was a steal and even during a holiday weekend! The amenities are great; free bikes to ride on a nice trail from the hotel, pool and jacuzzi open late, an outdoor fire pit, corn hole and outside games, free photo booth, and more! There is a cute little general store in the lobby that has everything you'd need, and yummy Lappert's brand ice cream. My family and I really had the best time, and this is now our absolutely favorite hotel out of all we've stayed at. Mahalo nunui, Kauai Shores Hotel! 10/10 would stay again 🤙🏽
My family had a great time staying at Kauai Shores. As we were checking in the tsunami warning alerts started going out on our phones. The hotel provided a place for us to go to away from the shore inland on higher ground and we waited it out from about 4pm-11pm. The hotel made sure to provide food later that evening and updated us regularly. Thank God the tsunami didn’t end up amounting to much and we were able to enjoy the rest of our visit. The hotel itself has beautiful views and is in a central location that made it easy for us to visit the north and the south parts of the island. And Lava Lava Beach Club is a cool place with great food and drinks. Kapaa is a cool little town itself with great places to eat and things to do and see. This was our second trip to the island and looking to book another trip for July this year. Wanted to thank the staff for ensuring we had a safe place to go to. Mahalo 🤙🏼
Very clean, very fun experience. Really enjoyed it.
A lil expensive but other than that it was great!
Kauai Shores Hotel is surely a magical place. It definitely made me feel like I was in Hawaii. From the spectacular atmosphere, tropical views, walks surrounded by orchids, hibiscus, all all kinds of lovely scents, I do miss it all. And when it rains, I just can stare off my lanai and admire how beautiful this island is. Lots of activities, convenient location, beach front restaurant on site, and amazing people all around. Price is better than other hotels next door. Book it while you can, enjoy as much as I did.
I can’t recall most specific names of most Staff but every single person we had the chance to meet were very friendly and provided exceptional service and Aloha. From front desk personnel, to Valet, to Landscaping and Maintenance and the Lava Lava Grill. Everything was great!! I especially would like to acknowledge Mary in Housekeeping. She was very friendly and kind and always had a great smile and greeted us!
Noisy and unsafe
Our room door didn’t lock People were banging on our door as they walked past - it was so noisy late at night during quiet time. No point escalating to reception because by the time we did the people had moved on. The door didn’t lock and the reception didn’t seem to care or want to help us move into a room that was secure
Kauai Shores was a very cute place. We were coming to Kauai and wanted to stay on the East side. We had reservations from a couple reviews knowing the hotel had been remodeled. But we were pleasantly surprised, the atmosphere was cute, clean, and the staff was very friendly. One night we came back and there were no self parking spots open, so we drove up to valet and they parked it no issue. This was extremely nice. Roof repairs are going on at the moment but they were during the day and ended early so they didn’t ruin any ambiance really. Lava Lava Beach Club was delicious also. We would definitely stay here again! Nice little hidden gem.
Delayed due to airline troubles, called the front desk and the lady said to call deltas 1800 number if I wanted to change reservations
Rude inhospitable
We were a grandmother and 30 year old granddaughter, different generations delighting in the 70s vibe. Our accommodations were top notch and relaxing by oceans edge was sublime. We ate most meals at restaurant as we decided after first one, we wouldn't find better food. Would recommend an excellent Thai, Myanmar. Beds were comfortable. All seemed recently updated. Landscaping was beautiful and enjoyed music in late afternoon.
RAS
Internal is newer renovation and clean. Parking is easy and convenient!
The building and outdoor facilities are older.
We had a great stay at the Kauai Shores hotel. Everyone is super friendly, the rooms very clean, filtered water dispensers were wonderful, ice machines, and the proximity to restaurants and shopping. We didn't want to leave and we hope to return!
This was our second stay at Kauai Shores, we visited October 2025 and came back May 2026 and loved it again! We like the location with great variety of restaurants nearby (recommend Naisla!) and find it easy to visit south shore or north shore. The room is great and we love the small kitchenette for early breakfast before heading out on adventures. The free hotel bikes are fun - nice trails along the coast! The beach is quiet and we could always get pool chairs or beach chairs too - also took advantage of the free beach yoga in the mornings. Since we booked with Expedia we ended up getting a free room upgrade and bottle of wine during check in too!
Lovely modern trendy hotel, had a bit of a vibe in the evenings with all the fairy lights on and everyone in the jacuzzi. Inflatables at the pool which was good and we had it all to ourselves on several occasions- it’s very small though so just as well. Nice wristbands and refillable water bottles which we go to keep after. Lava lava beach club was really nice and good friendly service and lovely food right on the beach, but we only had breakfast there not dinner. Shower was modern and usually got hot. Housekeeping didn’t come every day and was often very late in the day.
The location drew me to this hotel, close to the airport. Thought there were things to do close by but no. They do put 2 waters in the fridge. Cute family games in the late afternoon. Be aware you cannot put charges from the restaurant on your room so be sure to have a credit card. Also, cant take drinks out so cant drink at the pool or take to your room. The worst was the parking. Horrendous. Not enough parking. Construction blocking areas. Only one road for 2 way traffic to get to the valet, which is complimentary. People parking illegally and driving in the wrong direction. Water is pretty rough on this side and sand is rough. Didn't see any areas to rinse off going back up or at the resort. Lots of choices on the Island. The parking would keep me from coming back.
Location - in Kapaa , relatively easy to find ; I’d say the location is central Staff - fake nice . They seemed nice on the surface ; but it’s all fake Rooms - modern , small , glorified motel 6 essentially. Three aspects about the rooms I despised : there was a Very musty smell in my room when I first checked in . I discussed the issue with front desk and they ended up turning up the AC in my room to solve the problem. Secondly , the water pressure in the shower was very weak , and last but not least , there was no privacy in ground level rooms / if you want natural light into room , you have to leave curtains open and all people walking by outside have full views to your room. Parking - a nightmare ; small parking lot for a huge motel . Check in experience- unacceptable. Check in was at 4 pm; my room was still not ready by 4:30 pm . All I heard was : I’m sorry . Every other hotel would have offered some kind of good will gesture The worst $300 hotel I’ve ever stayed at The Hilton garden inn nearby is not glamorous, but st least I never had the above issues staying there . Avoid Kauai shores hotel at all costs costs
Location is great and staff friendly. Cleanliness of facilities was excellent. Beach restaurant is great food.
Our room was spacious, and we selected the room with the kitchenette which includes a mini refrigerator and microwave. Staff was very friendly and helpful. It was nice to have 2 pools and Lae Nani Beach is in your backyard. Lava Lava Club restaurant is on sight had many good food options. There is also a fun photo booth where 2-3 people can take pictures at no cost. Coconut Marketplace including ABC Market is conveniently located next door. We enjoyed our stay despite the rainy weather in mid-February.
Self parking was a bit limited if you return late at night, but there is valet parking attendants may assist.
Kauai Shores is now our favourite hotel in Hawai'i! Great location, quiet beach, good cocktails and family games. It's so quiet at night; we all slept very well. Very clean. Stunning grounds, especially the orchids. The best part is the staff - all so friendly and they treat you with kindness.
The renovated rooms are beautiful and the entire property is clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful. The Lava Lava food is delicious. It is in walking distance to stores and restaurants. Best of all - it is right on the ocean.
Great location with a restaurant with perfect aura
Nothing
Great location, clean
None. Liked everything about the hotel.
Very clean and excellent customer service at the front desk.
A bit noisy from doors slamming and people in the hallway.
Location perfect; Updated room very clean.
Nothing needed improving.
Great location, beautiful beach, swimming pools great for kids entertainment
Good and new rooms , great check in staff
Comfortable, well maintained, friendly helpful staff
Beach, pool, restaurant, free bikes, friendly staff, big lawn, games Wonderful old school beach vibe
Nothing
The staff was the best.
Internet was TERRIBLE. Almost non-existent.
This place is next to the beach, costal pathway and a village of ABC store and number of restaurants close by. The room is big with a great view on the second floor, but no elevators. We enjoyed the complimentary bikes and valet parking. It is also close to some sights we wanted to visit. There are nice music going every night. The hot tub is available on the premise.
Wish it is easier to park without using Valet Parking. We wish the wall insulation is better between rooms; we could hear our neighbor talking at 5am one morning. We wish there is another hot tub for visitors to use, the one we used was a little crowded.
I co-hosted a work reunion with people from all over the U.S. at this hotel for 5-nights in March 2026. As I was managing this reunion from Pennsylvania -- having absolutely no idea how this was all going to work out -- I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. Kauai Shores exceeded not only my expectations, but all of the reunion attendees raved about this hotel in terms of the updated rooms (very clean and comfy), immaculate grounds/pools, customer service, valet service, location, and overall general ALOHA vibe of this hotel with its old-world charm and graciousness. Kauai Shores offers so much more than just a hotel. Every staff member is committed to assisting with any questions or requests with much ALOHA! Guests really are made to feel at home and part of the ohana. One of the standout offerings -- imho -- is that there are water-bottle refill stations available. I am a big believer in reducing plastic waste. There is a restaurant right on the beach called Lava Lava with excellent food and service. It is actually one of the top-rated restaurants in Kauai. There are bicycles you can sign-out, morning yoga, and TWO swimming pools! There is also a walkway path along the beach that from start-to-finish takes about 1 hour. Some attendees did this every morning at 6:30 a.m. to see the sun rise. Great photo opportunity! This hotel is located next to an open mall area with a convenience store as well as other restaurants and shopping. I would like to make a special mention to our group sales coordinator at Kauai Shores, Jerry Sager. You Rock! MAHALO!!! Also, special thanks to Debra Beeler who is the sales coordinator for Lava Lava restaurant. You Also Rock! MAHALO!!! Finally, I will just say that whether you are traveling with family, friends, solo, partners, or for a reunion, this IS THE PLACE to stay. It is warm and welcoming. The guests were all very lovely and friendly. Kauai Shores is warm and inviting, and makes you feel welcome.
