Reviewed Apr 17, 2025The hotel was very clean, and we really liked the way it was decorated. Overall, the service was excellent, and the location made it easy for us to access all of our planned activities in Dublin, including the Guinness Storehouse, Trinity College, and plenty of nearby shopping and restaurants. One thing to keep in mind is that the rooms are not equipped with refrigerators or microwaves, which was a bit inconvenient since we would have liked to store leftovers but couldn’t. Aside from that minor inconvenience, our overall experience was great.

Reviewed Aug 28, 2024Magnificent castle and hotel. The only castle hotel we stayed in that truly felt like being in an authentic castle. Quite an impressive drive up to be topped off by the dramatic, candlelit, red-carpeted staircase. The claw footed tub in its own turret off of our bedroom was sublime. Not to be missed! From the stain-glassed windows and chapel, oversized paintings, the complimentary cakes and tea, to the manicured castle grounds, excellent breakfast and good dinner in the beautiful dining room with attentive staff.

Reviewed Aug 6, 2024Markree Castle is a great option for those staying in and around Sligo. The castle itself is beautiful with lots of gardens on the property to explore. The room we stayed in was spacious and the bathroom in particular was very nice. Only cons in the room were no fridge and no easily accessible outlets by the bedsides. The best thing about our stay here was the food. The dinner was the best meal we had in Ireland (and we also stayed at Ashford Castle) and the breakfast was also very good

And the dining is wonderful. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Bed was comfortable. Room was quiet. I can’t say enough good things about our stay.

Reviewed Feb 17, 2020Our room had no mirror where makeup could be done or where you could see to use the blow dryer. The bathroom was to dark to get do makeup. Markree is beautifully situated, service was fabulous and staff were very attentive and anticipated needs.
