Tower room with see view
Bathroom
The view was fantastic and the breakfast and dinner were lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The room was a good size, We ate in the restaurant and the food was absolutely delicious. We stayed in the turret which was nice. Staff were all lovely and welcoming. Definitely wow factor when you walk in.
The smell of sewage on arrival outside the front door was really strong. The whole place could do with a bit of a revamp but I do understand its an old property. Behind our bed was very dusty ,I only know this as was looking for a plug socket and because the room is round the bed dosnt fit flush. The bathroom is tiny and so is the shower cubicle. Takes a bit of manoeuvring to get in.
Beautiful building perched on the hillside with stunning views over the sea. My room had a balcony and wide sea view that I wasn’t expecting. Very friendly staff, spotlessly clean and all amenities you could need.
The building is old (and beautiful for it) but it does mean it has a few creaks from other guests moving about but residents are hardly partying late so not a huge problem!
Location great , food outstanding , owner couldn’t help enough , barman/ waiter went above and beyond to address our needs . I understand some areas of hotel maybe a little dated but that in my opinion added to the charm of this gem of a place . I will have fond memories of my stay there. Thank you to all .
I have no negative feedback for this place . The 2 days I spent there gave us time to relax .
Cooked breakfast was well cooked
Decor a bit dated and tatty
I liked the breakfast but would have liked more choice. The evening meal was good and well worth the money.
I did not like the narrow stairs and the chipping stone’s leading to the front door it was very hard when you have a walking stick.
Quaint castle with amazing sea views
No lift
Ideal for 2 night stay
No lift
Loved the place, an original gem

Bed was so hard
The food and Seaview was amazing
The bed was uncomfortable
Great location, interesting building with spectacular sea views. Very friendly hosts.
Couldn’t fault it to be honest.
Very pleasant staff, lovely building, great food
Nothing
Views were amazing plus the turret room. Food and owner very helpful. Enjoyed the stay would go again.
Nothing.
Lovely people, food and location
Picturesque
Friendly & great location
Great location and clean & friendly
Lovely old fashioned building just out of Barmouth. We had the Turret room which was very comfortable with an amazing view. Great breakfast and staff were very helpful and friendly.
The view was excellent, breakfast very good.
Very dated decor, room very dated, shower curtains instead of a screen, furry cushions on the bed.
Lovely old property full of history. Comfortable, quiet room looking directly at the sea. Good quality bedding/curtains. Nice refreshments left in the room. Easy walk, albeit hilly, to the town.
Breakfast was poor. Very small portions. Very sloppy scrambled egg, which I could not eat and vegetarian sausages full of vegetables which I dislike. Came down to find there was nowhere made up ready for me to sit down, but they should know how many guests to expect for breakfast. Seemed rather chaotic. People moving from table to table to get a better view of the sea. The lady running the breakfast room, knocked my coffee and spilt it into the saucer. I expected her to offer to get me a fresh one as it was such a mess, but no! Very much self service. The barman from the night before was rather standoffish too. A pity as it does colour your view of a place.
I really enjoyed my stay. Thank you. The owners were welcoming and helpful and "Viktor" in the dining room was very pleasant and professional. I ate an excellent home cooked supper at a properly laid table and enjoyed the fantastic views from the drawing room later with my beer- what could be nicer?
Nothing. This is a really well run hotel with an interesting history. Congratulations to the owners and staff who are obviously proud of it.
Location and history of the building
Way to expensive for what the accommodation has to offer. Especially the single person room was completely not acceptable for the requested price. Should not be even offered as a room, more a location to store cleaning materials. Also the food was more close to fastfood …
The location, views, especially the dining room. Very good food, friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room.
A couple of awkward stairs with doors
Everything was great. Warm welcome comfortable room, views were beautiful.
Nothing
We had a lovely time, the location was brilliant, food and staff were kind and friendly, sitting outside at night having couple of drinks in a lovely peaceful space was brilliant, are already planning on staying there again.
There was nothing really not to like,
Breakfast every morning was amazing. The location of was beautiful.
Netflix didnt work on the tv so I was watching game shows in the evening ( Chanel 48 )

Trudy greeted us warmly as soon as we arrived. She took her time to speak to us and was lovely and attentive. Our room was clean with a stunning sea view. Throughly enjoyed our stay and we will be going back next year. ❤️
We couldn't fault anything. Loved everything ❤️
location
room was very small
The friendliness of the staff. Beautiful views from the terrace and our room. Lovely cooked breakfast.
I had an absolutely amazing time here as a solo traveller. The single room had a really lovely view and the bed was very comfortable! The staff were so friendly and welcoming and I really enjoyed dining in the dining room. Breakfast with a view was amazing. I can’t wait to come back again and would recommend here in a heartbeat. I travelled by public transport by train and on foot and was very easy!
That I didn’t stay longer
Friendly staff, fantastic views, comfortable room, traditional breakfast.
The room was small but very cozy and the relativly small bed was comfortable. The view was great. We had one of the corner rooms and had a view all along the coast. The old building is very nicely decorated and in a rather good condition. The breakfastroom with the tables by the window were a highlight in the morning and for dinner. The food (breakfast and dinner) was very good. The personal was helpful and friendly. There was a path nearby to get down to a park and the beach.
The bathroom was on the small side and there was no safe and no refrigerator in the room.
We were in room 11 and the view was superb. The room was spacious and comfortable.
The room was on the second floor and access was by 2 flights of narrow stairs with 3 very awkward fie doors to negotiate on the way. This made it tricky when carrying luggage. There is no lift.
Staff were friendly and the views are spectacular.
View was amazing.....always love to see the SEA! Comfortable room..everything you need..and the freshly cooked breakfast was delicious! Loved it ALL... we shall return!..
nothing.....!
Old building charm, with off road parking, a pleasant walk into the town of Barmouth
Everything been here a number of times. We love it
Nothing
Excellent location a short walk to the center Breakfast was excellent just missed black pudding This was a stunning building Bedrooms were comfy if not a little tired
Lovely owners and stunning location. Breakfast was amazing with excellent quality ingredients. I also liked the stunning entrance hall and the beautiful architecture of the building. STUNNING!
Room was a little small and in need of up dating, although clean it was a bit tired and could do with a few extra bits! Hairdryer maybe, better coffee mugs and it was very dusty behind the bed and around sockets.
The views were exceptional
We arrived a little early but we're told the room apwas almost ready, to be honest we aimed to get there early so we could use the terrace area ! The room was a turret room and had three windows overlooking the bay. The bar area was good with excellent views over the bay, and some dolphins very kindly appeared for us which we watched for a good few minutes. Parking is good, and due to the number of rooms, I wouldn't expect you'd be pushed to find a place if you turn up later. The restaurant is nice, if its not too windy, the conservatory area has beautiful views, so long as you look past the caravan site and housing below. Food was nice, although the lamb we had was delicious, the swordfish was a little bland, but overall with the starters we were happy.
Its fair to say that the hotel could do with a little care and attention, the room was good, but the decor is startup g to show it's age. The bathroom was basic but functional, but as with a lot of hotels in the UK, it could do with being better thought out, there is a lack of flat surfaces for bathroom items, which for one night isn't a great problem, but for two or more you'll find it a bit of a balancing act. Being a turret room, it does look onto the balcony for the two rooms beside it, so for privacy, you'll need to keep the curtain/blind down.
Great position
Bathroom bit small
The view
Dirty, dusty, smelt musty. So bad we left without staying the night
Great food & brilliant views - great friendly staff
resturuant in full sun - so very hot!
The hotel was gorgeous, I was worried that because it was so old that the facilities might have been a bit dated but everything functioned really well and was really clean. It had a wonderful terrace to watch the sunset and the service and breakfast was wonderful. It's also walking distance to the town which was handy
The bar was old, and even though it was very beautiful, they didn't have many options, specifically non alcoholic options. Other than that, it was really lovely
Very nice staff and outside space
The food for evening meal salmon was lovely but the Gammon very tough . Reported this to the waiter but gor no feedback from management . Paid in full . Wine was reasonable
Very friendly staff and good breakfast
Hotel in need of modernising particularly the bedrooms
Great building with an interesting history. Fantastic room. Breakfast was great - plenty of choice. We stayed 2 night and had a delicious evening meal both nights great value for money.
Bathroom was a little small but perfectly adequate.
The room had a beautiful view of beach and sea, the breakfast in the conservatory had the same wonderful view, there was so much choice for breakfast all delicious and local sourced. The room was a fair size with easy to use shower on suite with nice biscuits, tea and coffee included.
Everything was lovely, we have been staying here 8 years now and still love it.
Everything this is our second time stopping at this hotel and will return
Its location was fantastic, with the sunsets so beautiful, we was also lucky enough to see a dolphin in the bay
The hotel is very good and the way the ground floor has been kept exactly when it was built all those years ago shows great craftsmanship. It hotel rooms are looking tired and in need of some decorative repairs. We stayed in the standard turret which had great views over the harbour. The bathroom arrangement is not easy because the way the building is built but I do think there are better options that can make the rooms so much better.
Location
Not a lot
Beautiful location very friendly
The hotel is in an excellent location, with a wondetful view from the terrace of the Bay. Very quiet. It's just outside the town centre, but within 10/15 minute walking distance. The rooms have good facilities with tea/coffee making. Breakfast is excellent. Local produce used. Dinner was very good too. All freshly made. The hosts are very friendly and helpful as is the bar waiter. It's a lovely place to visit, with many other attractions not far away. Parking on site.
N/A Nothing to complain about!
Location
Rooms are small
Location was great , short walk into town centre. Breakfast was fantastic
Bathroom was tiny
the owners and staff were so friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent
That there is no phone to contact reception, the wifi in our room was non existent a lot of the time. The walls are very thick and we were told it is better in other rooms.
I asked for an early breakfast as needed early work start. No options offerred
The breakfast was lovely. Full english was cooked to perfection and not greasy. Buffet was lovely too. We had a treat for my birthday of afternoon tea and that was absolutely exceptional. A great price and an overwhelming choice of sandwiches and cakes. Beautiful views of the sea and beautiful sunsets in the evening. A mile or so walk into town was ok too as it was a very busy bank holiday weekend so we wouldn't of got a parking space anyway.
Nothing could of been better.
Tyr Graig Castle was a comfortable and friendly place to go to. The staff where very helpful. Food was amazing. Highly recommended 👌
The staff were lovely, very helpful & friendly, great breakfast, cooked fresh to order, we had an evening meal which was lovely & good sized portions, everything is kept very clean, great location, with fantastic views.
We had a great sea view from one of the Turret rooms. The hotel looks spectacular from the bay. The staff were welcoming and the breakfast was lovely. With car parking.
The shower in the Turret room was tight but you are warned.
Besonders der Ausblick
Lovely hotel but the bedroom and ensuite definitely needed updating Food was excellent and a great location
Shower and bathroom very small needs updating and a refurbishment as did the bedroom.
Room with sea views fantastic breakfast was 5 stars
Lots of character friendly stall good location
Nothing
Service and the food.
The weather.
Charmantes Einzelzimmer mit tollen Aussicht. Hervorragendes Frischgemachtes Englisches Frühstück.
Breakfast excellent !.. location fantastic !
Nothing !
Fantastic views over looking the bay
It’s was in amazing location and staff very helpful
Like anything in the hospitality trade these days. Prices are being driven down whilst cost continue to rise. I don’t blame hotel at and staff were lovely but rooms look kinda dated in decor and could do with a spruce up. However how are they ever going to do that with such low margins these days.
The veiws were amazing
All good
V friendly and great character
Twin room was a bit short on floor space to spread our cycling gear
The location is outstanding with great views across Barmouth and the Bay and very close to Snowdonia National Park. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good and the managers were very friendly and kind.
Wide choice available. Cooked fresh on request.
Lovely breakfast. Clean sea view twin room.
Nice little hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely breakfast. I'd definitely recommend 👌
Restaurant closed for evening meals. Bathroom taps in our room turned the wrong way
It is a great location with good access to fantastic local walks and the Snowdonia National Park. There are also fabulous views across Barmouth and Cardigan Bay. The owners are the most friendly and kind I have ever experienced in the UK. The breakfast is also very good. The rooms are comfortable and clean.
Lovely traditional with great sea views and Mountain View’s too
It was all good
Location view fantastic
Friendly owners. Excellent breakfasts. Superb views over the sea.
Standard double room on the small side (but balcony is a fair compromise!)
The location was fantastic, on top of a cliff overlooking Barmouth, yet close enough to walk down the hill if you wanted too. The breakfasts were exceptional, the cooked were beautifully presented. Service was first class. We loved the view of the bay and could of sat watching it all day. We were also very lucky with the weather , which totally made our stay one to remember and now we’ve found such a perfect place we can’t wait to book again .
Fabulous views across the bay as situated on a cliff top; good parking, comfortable family run hotel. We had the full restaurant menu for three of us and was delicious 😋 with excellent service and good value price for both rooms . The waiter / barman from Latvia was friendly and service excellent for our dinner with an amazing sunset! Breakfast was also very good too! Both rooms were comfortable, well equipped with fantastic sea views !
Everything was of a high standard, However our mattress in the superior double room requires replacement!
Wonderful breakfast with the most amazing view
Structure a bit dated but to be fair it was full of character so no complaints and the owner and his wife so helpful and flexible -top marks to them
Authentieke kamer. Was wel op 2e verdieping zonder lift. Op zich geen probleem.als je geen lichamelijke klachten hebt.
Good hotel with a lovely atmosphere & great views.
It needs a little TLC in certain places, the rooms are very dated.
The hotel was clean and warm. Well positioned for the town. Good parking facilities.
The hotel is not of a four-star standard that we are used to. Our room was very small, the shower was just a "dribble" and the extractor fan didn't work with the bathroom being more of a closet! The breakfast was very mediocre, very poor choice for a continental breakfast, very little choice of beverage. Very few staff available but those that were, perfectly friendly. Evening meal was very basic and choice of wines limited especially if you just wanted to order by the glass.
Were made very welcome by the proprietor
Nothing in particular
Great place to stop we stayed in a turret room with views of the sea, everything was catered for at breakfast again with views of the sea,15 min walk into town for the shops,I would definitely recommend staying here.
Nothing, everything was spot on
Clean room friendly staff and food delicious. 15mins walk into Barmouth all downhill. Fantastic views out to sea.
Ensuite small and needs refurbishing
Interior of building. Cosy restaurant and good well presented meals. Beautiful views
Nothing!!

amazing view
Lovely welcoming staff, very good restaurant, great views, reasonably well situated for Barmouth (10-15 minute walk)
A very minor point but there’s no lift.
History of it
Very dated needs a revamp
Breakfast was excellent , We had to cut our stay short my wife had a fall, Staff were very helpful they helped us to the car very kind of them.
Liftes in hotel but it is Victorian no lifts in those days.
Really nice place, very friendly staff, lovely break, thanks
