Escape to the Beach

Everything about our stay was wonderful. The location is excellent—right on the ocean, with the beach just in front of the property. We could even spot dolphins and whales from our room and while having breakfast by the pool, which made the experience really special. The location is also very convenient, with restaurants, shops, a petrol station, and grocery stores all within about a five-minute walk, while still feeling peaceful and relaxing. The property itself is beautifully designed and incredibly cozy. It feels more like staying in a beautiful home than a hotel. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped with a small sitting area, kitchenette, and wardrobe, while the spacious common areas give you plenty of places to relax. There are lovely indoor spaces, an outdoor area overlooking the ocean, and a separate backyard area. Breakfast was excellent, delicious and with plenty of options. We also really appreciated all the little extras included in the stay, such as snacks, cakes, the coffee corner, and a fully stocked fridge with a wide variety of drinks and treats. Most importantly, the staff were exceptional—from the entire team to the property manager. Everyone was warm, professional, welcoming, and genuinely added something special to our stay.

Everything about this place was exceptional. It’s truly one of the most unique places I’ve ever visited. The facility was spotless, and the design was absolutely stunning. The team exceeded all expectations, especially the manager, Sarie. She has such a beautiful spirit, genuine passion for what she does, and was consistently helpful, kind, and welcoming throughout our stay. Her professionalism and warmth made the experience even more memorable.

Escape to the Beach exceeded every expectation I had. From the moment we arrived, Sarie and the team made us feel like the only guests in the world. The location in Wilderness is simply breathtaking — waking up to the sound of waves and stepping out to that view is something I'll carry with me for a long time. The accommodation itself was spotless, thoughtfully designed, and had everything we needed for a perfect two-night stay. The attention to detail — from the welcome touches to the quality of the linens — made it clear that the hosts truly care about their guests' experience. I've stayed in many places around the world, but Escape to the Beach stands in a category of its own. If you're considering it, stop hesitating — book it. You will not regret it. We're already planning our return.

Best stay I’ve ever had

ETTB is EXCEPTIONAL. The property is gorgeous, it's decorated to such a high standard of interior design, the rooms are comfy, stylish, quiet and private. The beach is on your doorstep - we watched dolphins with breakfast every morning. The property provides unbelievable breakfast + free alcohol, drinks, snacks and cakes everyday - we thought the reviews were too good to be true when we booked but they werent! This place is just fantastic. It was our favourite place on The Garden Route. You are a 3 minute walk from the centre of all restaurants. The staff are amazing, Lyl looked after us so well. I can't recommend this place enough. If you are in Wilderness you MUST stay here!

I don’t tend to write reviews, but this place was amazing. All inclusive drinks, breakfast and snacks - and we were looked after with unobtrusive service from the moment we arrived. Perfect.

An incredible place. Nina is a great host and Lyle runs the place perfectly and nothing is too much trouble for him. Amazing locating, stunning interiors and an amazing breakfast. The complimentary snacks and incredibly well stocked free bar run through the day and are exceptional. We will most definitely be back.

We had the time of our lives! The setting, the facilities,, management and staff were next level and could not be faulted. The exquisite breakfast buffet, served on the pooldeck overlooking the ocean,guaranteed a good start to every day!

This property is amazing. Beautiful in every respect, styling, comfort, staff, rooms, beachfront and a few mins walk to a few restaurants and mini supermarket. Room stocked with everything you could think off.

Darüber müssten wir sehr lange nachdenken. Vielleicht einzig, dass der Balkon unseres Zimmers „Orca“ etwas schmal war.

D’autres locations juste à proximité sont bien mieux et beaucoup moins coûteuses. On a l’impression de s’être fait avoir quand on le découvre. On a pu louer juste à côté pour beaucoup moins cher et tout aussi bien. Et le cadre face à la mer reste le même pour toutes ces maisons qui sont alignées sur la plage.

Les photos fournis sont trompeuses par rapport à la réalité.

Having to leave

The location is unbeatable, overlooking the Indian Ocean , with a long , sandy beach to stroll along and the arrival of a pod of dolphins in the bay to entertain us !

Nothing - it’s fabulous . Just be aware that 3 rooms have a view to the beach and 2 rooms have a Mountain View . All the rooms are fabulous , but visitors may wish to put in a special request for the ocean view .

The breakfast buffet was outstanding in terms of choice and presentation and as for the hot breakfast the eggs Benedict were exceptional. We were thoroughly spoilt by wonderful attentive staff it’s not surprising that so many guests keep returning. Very lucky to get a booking in January.

A dream accommodation with a perfect view of the sea. The house is very clean, comfortable and furnished to a high standard. All drinks and snacks are included and make you feel right at home. The breakfast is incredible and freshly prepared. The coffee is barista quality! The rooms are very spacious and modernly furnished. The staff was incredibly friendly and very attentive to keeping the house in excellent condition. We didn't want to leave at all. Luckily, we were able to spontaneously extend our stay by one night. If we ever return to South Africa, we will definitely come back to experience this unique Guest House again. One of the best accommodations we have ever stayed in. Thank you very much!

We loved everything about our stay, it really was exceptional! Sarie, Lyle and the team went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing stay, we felt very at home …. The rooms are immaculate and beautifully appointed, we had an amazing sea view and loved the bath in our room. Even though the weather wasn’t great looking out to the ocean was very relaxing. The complimentary snacks and cake very generous, the wine choice exceeded our expectations and the breakfast was great quality and beautifully presented even down to the little touches like the wrapped butter! We have stayed in many places but non have been better value, we hope to stay again very soon.

Honestly would give the property, staff, location, genuine care and generosity of ETTB team more stars. One of the best places we have stayed. The welcome Sarie, Lal and team give is effortless and outstanding. We didn’t want to leave.

Wir haben im „Escape to the Beach“ drei Nächte unserer Flitterwochen verbracht und es hätte nicht schöner sein können! Das gesamte Haus ist ein Traum, absolut sauber und sehr stilvoll eingerichtet. Der Blick auf das Meer und der direkte Strandzugang sind einfach traumhaft. Das Frühstück war fantastisch, eine riesige Auswahl und alles super lecker. Ein ganz großes Dankeschön auch an das Team um Sarie und Lyl, ihr habt unseren Aufenthalt unvergesslich gemacht und wir würden jederzeit wieder kommen!

Our stay at Escape to the Beach in Wilderness was exceptional. The property sits right on the shoreline, so you wake up to the sound of the waves and step straight into a peaceful, coastal setting. The design is fresh and contemporary without losing its warmth, and the staff made us feel genuinely cared for throughout our stay. The combination of ocean views, comfortable spaces, and attentive service created a sense of ease that is hard to match. It was the perfect blend of luxury and relaxation.

EVERYTHING. From the moment you walk in you can see, feel and smell luxury. Everything has been carefully selected with comfort and relaxation in mind. The staff were so helpful and friendly and we also were welcomed by the owner as the manager was away when we arrived. We met the manager too and she was super nice and helpful and chatty! The rooms were impeccably finished with the same attention to detail seen through elsewhere in the building. The terrace is one of the highlights. With its pool and overlooking of the ocean. The breakfast every morning was beautiful from even how it was laid out, tasted and the options available. I honestly find it hard to think of anything even remotely negative as everything was simply amazing. I wish I could have stayed there longer and was sad to leave even though I had more travelling of South Africa to do. I would recommend this as a must do in South Africa not just as accommodation. When you stay here don’t have anything planned so that you can just switch off, relax and enjoy the accommodations. We will definitely be back next time we come to South Africa.

This is a stretch but the bins were too small for the multiple bottles of wine and bubbly being consumed.

Ich weiß gar nicht, wo ich anfangen soll – dieser Ort ist einfach unbeschreiblich schön! Schon im ersten Moment, wenn man das Hotel betritt, spürt man ein Gefühl von Zuhause. Es ist kein gewöhnliches Gästehaus – es ist ein Zuhause fernab von Zuhause. Nina und Lyl haben uns so herzlich empfangen, und auch das gesamte Serviceteam ist unglaublich freundlich und aufmerksam. Die freie Bedienung am Kühlschrank vermittelt zusätzlich dieses wunderbare Gefühl, wirklich daheim zu sein – entspannt, willkommen und geborgen. Beim Frühstück fehlt es an nichts – alles ist liebevoll angerichtet und schmeckt fantastisch. Besonders die Pfannkuchen kann ich von Herzen empfehlen! Ein großes Dankeschön an Nina und Lyl für die schönen Gespräche am Abend. Wir hoffen sehr, dass wir bald wiederkommen dürfen!

Wir sind auf das "Escape" durch die Empfehlung von Freunden aufmerksam geworden und haben die letzten 5 Tage dort verbracht. Unsere bereits hohen Erwartungen wurden deutlich übertroffen: die Unterbringung, die Ausstattung, der Service und die Lage des "Guest Houses" direkt am Strand sind mehr als überzeugend und wurden durch das stets freundliche. aufmerksame und hilfsbereite Team rund um "Chefin" Nina, ihre Haus-Managerin Sari und beider rechte Hand Lyl mehr als abgerundet. Wir haben uns wirklich SEHR wohl qefühlt.
