Beautiful everywhere! Gorgeous room and bathroom.
Nothing
Ferienhotel für Familien sehr geeignet. Sehr weitläufige Anlage, toller Strand, gute Restaurants
Manche Mitarbeiter, nicht ganz saubere Flächen im Gartenbereich, riesiger Andrang beim Frühstück Aufpassen mit der Buchung, ob Frühstück inkludiert ist!
Great layout. Fun for kids
Run down tired resort. Overpriced mediocre food. Staff is non existent. Pools need more shade options so people don’t have to wake up at 6 to stake claim to the umbrellas
It’s a beautiful resort
Loved everything

Pools were awesome, and a great included breakfast.
Be ready to be around a lot of families, it is a kid friendly resort after all! Not a negative since we were one of them, just be aware that’s the vibe.
overall property and environs were beautiful. Restaurants were also appealing. Pools and walkway areas were also nice
no complaints
Wow! What an amazing place. While the hotel website was accurate, You have to see it to really appreciate the experience. The entryway framed the ocean. The huge entrance, the parrots, the shopping, the pools... Wonderful! Our teen was able to hang with parents at the 14+ pool area and then take off to the saltwater lagoon, beach, gym... Great rooms, Super views. A lovely walkway along the ocean and easy access to shipwreck beach. Mahalo
We recently returned from our second stay at the Grand Hyatt Kauai, having previously visited in 2023. Unfortunately, this visit did not live up to our previous experience. Our stay got off to a disappointing start with check in. Our first room overlooked a large extractor or air conditioning unit that created constant noise which was clearly audible from inside the room. When I asked the bellman if it switched off overnight, he was unable to help. I then spoke with the front desk and felt as though my concerns were dismissed. I was told that because the noise was outside, moving rooms would not make a difference. Thankfully we did move rooms and the difference was significant. The new room was much quieter and far more enjoyable. Given the cost of staying at this resort, it was disappointing to feel as though we were being unreasonable for not wanting to spend our vacation listening to industrial equipment outside our room. Once we changed rooms, our experience improved considerably. The highlights of the resort were definitely the pool bar and the main bar in the evenings. The live music created a fantastic atmosphere and the staff at both locations were friendly, welcoming, and provided excellent service throughout our stay. One area that really needs improvement is the pool chair situation. Guests reserve loungers with towels early in the morning and often leave them empty for hours at a time. On several days we sat next to unoccupied chairs that remained unused for most of the day while other guests struggled to find somewhere to sit. Staff never seemed to enforce any policy or make those chairs available again, which made the pool experience frustrating. Another disappointment was Tidepools. During our 2023 visit it was one of the best meals we had on the island and was a highlight of our trip. This time the food was nowhere near the same standard. Neither my wife nor I finished our meals, which was surprising and disappointing given our previous experience. Overall, the Grand Hyatt Kauai is still a beautiful resort with wonderful grounds, excellent bars, and many great staff members. However, based on this stay and compared with other resorts we have visited, I no longer feel it delivers a true five star experience. With improvements to the arrival experience, better management of pool seating, and a return to the food quality we experienced previously, it could once again become one of our favorite resorts.
Have two reservations. 45,000 points per night. 3 nights per reservation. Hyatt customer service told me I could cut one night off each reservation and get the points back into my account. No reprice. This was on a recorded line. I called three hours later to make the changes and they said the other nights would be repriced at 55,000 per night. I am escalating this and Hyatt is NOT a pleasure to deal with. So disappointed.
Another spectacular visit at the Grand Hyatt Kauai. We stayed a week from July 2-9, and this property remains the most iconic of all the hotels in Kauai. The Grand Hyatt Kauai is about four decades young, but still maintains a majestic presence on a beautiful spot in Poipu, and although the infrastructure and rooms are showing some age, it is still nearly flawlessly maintained. The lobby is mesmerizing with a tropical flora, and its resident parrots, along with the Seaview Terrace, which hosts local singers provides an inviting aloha spirit. We were checked in by Stephanie, who was so engaging, professional and super informative. She even provided us a few vouchers for drinks and appetizers for having to wait a few minutes for a room. That was so courteous of her, and her gracious gesture set the tone for our week! The basic rooms at 500 sq ft, is truly spacious and easily comforts a family of four. We’ve tried all the restaurants here, but their stars are the Tidepool and Stevenson Library. Too much to list here, but the service levels and the elevated cuisine deserves another few paragraphs elsewhere. We enjoyed the poolside dining at Hale Nalu, and although getting cups of ice seems like such a small interaction, I must mention the kindness of Alecy and Donna, both of whom joyfully poured ice in our cups multiple times. They were always gleefully happy. The Grand Club consistently provided the caffeine fix we needed to start our day and it was a delight to see Ana, Sam and Jennifer at 6:30 am showing just as much energy as me. I had an opportunity to meet the director of safety and security, Rob DeLa Cruz, to share some security ideas from my part of the world and I was truly impressed with his knowledge, service delivery, mission, leadership style, and how it all ties to the most important aspect: customer service. The hotel is very fortunate to have him. Finally, a shout out to a long time, exemplary representative, Napua Rita. Through the years we’ve stayed here, it’s such a joy to see her again, and feel her warmth and welcome, like we’ve always been a part of the extended family here. She’s amazing. MAHALO to everyone mentioned here and we can’t until our next visit!
The pools were nice, the atmosphere was fun and the activities were engaging. The property was well kept. Certain parts of the property is showing some age, but things work and are well maintained.
REALLY nice hotel! The adult pool is a plus. The staff is very friendly and want to make sure you have what you need. The restaurants offer delicious food.
This resort is large, beautiful and has a lot going on if you wish to partake. The food is good and plentiful. Resort is a good distance from stores though walkable if you'd like and the shuttle only runs in the afternoon and evening. I would return if going to Kauai.
Great hotel. Great pools, beautiful view. Tennis and pickleball available if you have time. Right next to Shipwreck Beach and a nice walking trail to Poipu Beach and Puka Dogs. Do not understand the negative reviews at all!
Fabulous trip and a gorgeous resort. Don’t miss the Seaview Terrace for great food, live music and great service. Shout out to the best waiter/ bartender around…Johnny!
We really like this place. because it has a lazy river, water slide, and huge salt water pool w sand called a salt lagoon. I did pick up athletes foot from the bathroom but mostly the rooms are clean. They need to replace the carpet. Beds comfortable. Birds do fly in and dumped over a choc drink and ruined my computer. Loved the ocean view. 2 wonderful restaurants for dinner. Gourmet buffet breakfast, make sure breakfast is included.
This is our fifth time visiting this resort. Kauai is our favorite island simply for the beauty and chill vibe of it. We've considered renting an Airbnb while visiting, but after staying at this resort, we could never do that. This resort is a destination on its own. The pools are amazing, the food is excellent, and the property itself is gorgeous. The staff goes out of their way to help in every way, and they are all friendly and genuine people. They clearly love their jobs, and it shows. I cannot recommend this resort enough. Save your pennies - it's worth it!
Aging hotel. Won't be going back as it didn't meet expectations and price. Food in restaurants was average at best. Big resort pool where you need to wait in line to get a wristband and towels. People go down early to get their spots. I
It is impossible to overstate just how wonderful an experience we had at the Grand Hyatt. The staff were amazing, the food and beverage experiences are excellent, and the facility, while needing some upgrades in spots, still remains the finest resort on the island for any type of gathering. Even the staff at Ilima Terrace, a breakfast buffet were engaging, friendly and great at interacting with the guests. It's obvious that staff performance and enhancement of the guest experience at a very large hotel/resort are job one with management, and they're to be commended for doing it extremely well. My wife and I were not previously very interested in the "sushi" dining experience, but the outstanding food and service at Stevenson's Lounge made us into sushi savants. There is no finer bar service in Hawaii than that at Stevenson's in our experience, and that covers some 11 or 12 trips (including several to the Grand Hyatt). Also, for a large resort style facility, the food at every venue is excellent. Even the pool food at Hale Nalu is quite good, and the servers/runners delivering there are simply some of the best you will ever experience. We can't wait to return!
This is by far the nicest resort in Kuai. Besides how increbilbly beautiful it is, the service is also very good. Even at or near capacity it does not feel crowded, and you can always find a good spot at the pool. All the food is very good also. Overall this place is pretty hard to beat.
The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa treats you like 'ohana and as a local Kaua'i family, we are grateful for their outstanding customer services, user-friendly amenities and delicious food menus. The different department personnel are courteous, friendly and always willing to give us assistance with a smile and mana of Aloha! We truly appreciate the experience.
We had another great experience at the Grand Hyatt. We were notified our room was ready early, received a special treat for our anniversary, and were able to check out late. Staff did a great job. This is the best family resort on the island. The pool system is amazing. The beach is great and always has big waves in the summer that the boys like to play in. Thank you for another great stay, Grand Hyatt.
This resort is a must stay location. The pools, the food, the location. It was beyond amazing . Walking distance to paths that go to other beaches too. The views on the shoreline path just got better and better.
Beautiful location lots to do in the area. was disappointed with my steak at Tide pools thought I was at Ponderosa. The grounds are amazing as were the staff. recommend a stroll along cliffs adjacent to the property.
In need of some love for sure. Feels a bit dated. The hallways are long, dark and dingy with dirty carpeting. Peeling paint and rusty crooked lights. Rooms are descent. The location and main areas of the resort are lovely.
Great Location, wonderful Rooms, Friendly staff, two of the famous Restaurants of the Island are in the Hotel
Loved our recent stay at the Grand Hyatt Kauai. This was our second time visiting the island and staying at this resort. The resort was full during our stay, but it never felt crowded. We were always able to find seating near the pool or lagoon, never had an issue with finding parking, etc...We stayed in a Club room and loved having access to the Grand Club for breakfast and snacks throughout the day. He helped save our family a lot of money since food on the islands and going out to eat is super expensive. We had a room on the first floor and it was so nice with kids, being able to walk right out to the pool areas. The pool complex is great and the lagoon is fun for the younger kids who don't love the waves in the ocean. The beach onsite isn't suitable for children, but there is a great beach just a mile or so down the road that is great for everyone.
Fabulous experience with exceptional service - food was fantastic - what a beautiful place. The swimming pools were lovely and clean
Loved everything about the Hyatt Kauai. Donna who works by the pool was awesome. From the moment of entrance onto the property, we were treated like loved family members. Better than the Ritz and Four Seasons. Maybe because of the Aloha spirit too. Kudos to the gal who checked us in who offered us an oceanview upgrade for a small fee. What a deal even though we opted to be closer to the pool instead. We could have every vacation at a Hyatt like this one. Hyatt Kauai is extra special.
This is a gorgeous hotel and the pool system is wonderful, particularly for the kids. We had an ocean view which was fabulous. The room was a little dated but spacious and clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. We really liked the room key system which was an armband with the key in the band. It made it very easy!
The resort itself is beautiful, with large and spacious rooms, stunning ocean views, excellent pools, and plenty of amenities. There is certainly no shortage of things to do, and the property is well maintained throughout. That said, the sheer size of the resort was somewhat of a drawback for us. It caters to a large number of guests and families, so it often felt busy and crowded. While many travelers may enjoy that atmosphere, we felt it took away a bit from the authentic Hawaiian spirit and the more personal, intimate experience we were hoping for as a couple. The resort has a very upscale, luxury feel, but because of its scale, it can be difficult to provide the kind of personalized attention that smaller Hawaiian properties often offer. Overall, this is an excellent resort for families and those looking for a full-service luxury experience with fantastic amenities. Couples seeking a quieter, more intimate Hawaiian getaway may prefer a smaller resort, but there is no denying that this property offers beautiful accommodations and outstanding views.
Huge resort in a beautiful location. Extensive and great pool area which is good because, while the beach is beautiful, the sea conditions are rough. Service was friendly and efficient and food was an 8 out of ten. Rooms are in need of refurbishment. The door jam on our room was torn out and had to be fixed. Sliding doors were inoperable and couldn't be fixed.
Our 50th wedding anniversary with our family if 8 adults and 11 kids, 18 mo-13 yrs old was very enjoyable at the Grand Hyatt Kauai, where we enjoyed the pool area, hiking trails, lovely lawns, beach and comfortable rooms and suites. The swings overlooking the surf were great places to relax too.The adults had a lovely dinner at Tidepools. Our globalist status with Hyatt helped, providing club access for breakfast, snacks, evening appetizers and later desserts.
This is by far the most beautiful and well pointed Resort we have ever stayed at. Location was excellent. So much to do here one could stay here at the resort and never leave. Customer service was over the top. We had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking all the pools and a partial view of the ocean. Before our 10 days were over, I was already contemplating when and how I can return to this beautiful place on such a gorgeous island! Kudos to the staff for their unwavering customer service, especially Atela at the front desk and Mario at the valet. Too many other wonderful employees that we can't even count there were so many that were good to us! Our trip was for healing from the loss of my husband and my daughters' father. It did just that and we came back home renewed. Don't hesitate to stay here.
Absolutely fabulous experience at the Grand Hyatt. We loved the hotel, the views, the pools, the beach access, and the staff. Everyone was kind and welcoming! Especially over that the room key was a wrist band!! Thank you Hyatt!!
The grand Hyatt Kauai has got to be the most egregiously Overpriced hotel in Hawaii. With prices ranging from $2,000 to $4,000 a day with minimal complimentary services and activities, if you plan to visit Kauai with family you should avoid this hotel like the plague. The location is not near any fun family activities on the island and has a very boring sunset view. The room we stayed was nice but albeit comparable to much more inexpensive hotels on the island like the Sheraton or even the Kauai inn. The pool experience was ok but if that is all you are looking for in a hotel i recommend the Royal Sonesta which has arguably the best pool on the island. Which brings me to food, the menu is highly expensive for example a grilled chicken sandwich is $35 that is insane! and that is just poolside food if you go to one of their restaurants for example tide pools, prices can range from $60-$100 for small portions which taste bland and boring leading me and my family to have to eat outside the hotel for the rest of the trip. The staff service was horrible with housekeeping failing to service our room every day making the room look and smell disgusting, and at night you can hear people talking and walking around very loud for 10-11pm making every night very difficult to sleep and very loud for a family trip with kids. Overall this was the worst vacation I have ever had and I strongly advise anyone thinking of staying at the grand Hyatt Kauai to rethink their vacation plan entirely.
Excellent resort with a wide range of exceptional amenities and a beautiful location. Perfect for families of all sizes. Highly recommended.
Fantastic resort! The Grand Hyatt Kauai has some of the most beautiful grounds we’ve ever seen, with amazing pools, ocean views, and a great location. The staff was friendly, the rooms were comfortable, and everything was well maintained. Tidepools was a highlight, and we loved seeing the sea turtles nearby at Poipu Beach. We had a wonderful family vacation and would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful property, lands were pretty.
Rooms felt old and overall the hotel had scuffs on walls, elevators, and felt a bit older in the actual hallways and rooms.
We had an incredible stay for an important birthday. The grounds, the employees, the pools, the service - just wow! If you have the chance to stay here, take it!
We absolutey loved our stay here! The pools and the garden grounds were unmatchable of any other resort style place we've stayed at. The food was great too and better than expected! It allowed us to stay at the pool all day and be satisfied in case we didn't want to rush to a dinner/restaurant. The staff was friendly and accomodating to all of our requests and needs. The spa staff was phenomenal and my massage was one of the best ive had. Really appreciated the outdoor showers and the co ed/ non co ed options at the spa.
Beautifully kept grounds. Stevensons Library is top notch with food & service (shout out to George, Faye & Jake!). Great breakfast, service and enjoyable nature setting. Seaview Terrace & café was nice. Resort needs some updating in rooms. Check-in customer service was lacking. Lots of kids so that may impact "romantic" getaways
Beautiful hotel, unbelievable pool area, wrist bands made it all so easy- forget the need for a room key, credit card (on the resort) cuz it’s all right there on the wrist.
10/10. Will definitely be back. The Grand Hyatt provides great options for adults and kids, together and separately. The pool...wow the pool is incredible. Most of all, the staff, all of them did a wonderful job to make my family feel special and a priority to have a great time.
This hotel is perfect. The staff is amazing and kind. Great food options. Breakfast buffet was excellent. The grounds are beautiful. We will definitely stay here again.
Elevator was too far from the room, almost took 10 minutes each time .
Pool was Beautiful. Had a really great dinner at tidepools. My kids loved the Parrots and the Koi pond fish feeding. Property was pristine and very well kept.
Disappointed in Room service. Ordered dinner for 4 at 7:30pm and didn't arrive until 9:30pm. My burger tasted like "heatlamp" and all the fries were hard. Not impressed for $120 dollars. Pillows provided no support, not enough fill.
I loved the architextural design and the layout, which provided many points of interest.
Airport shuttle. Kauai is so unreliable for transportation without renting a car.
Beautiful property and the pool is amazing. Staff was very friendly
Food and drink is quite expensive on property. Walking to another restaurant is not an option.
Breakfast was delicious. Pools were a perfect temperature. Loved the live music at Seaview Terrace. Food was great at both the Terrace and the Library.
My husband and I visited the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa (and the island of Kauai) for the first time in early May 2026. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return to this hotel in the future. This property is quite gorgeous…super lush like much of the island, has an unforgettable floral smell in the air, and is set on 50+ acres of beautiful land with sweeping views of the ocean. It is almost immediately dreamy when you arrive there. There is a walkway that spans the public beach through the hotel and over to the condos next door for a nice scenic walk. The public beach is busy but there is another side of the beach that is more in front of the hotel that is more private/quiet…we saw a sea lion sunbathing there one day near the tide pools off the beach that you can walk around before the tide comes in. There are also seaside bench swings to swing in and look at the ocean, especially at golden hour. It is a great property for points redemption to turn your hard earned work travel points into something you can actually enjoy. Now that you have first impressions, let’s get to it. We were in a pool suite that technically was on the 2nd floor (nice it wasn’t ground floor) and was ready for us early by a few hours. Yes, the room was dated and very used but was clean and well maintained. We did have a cock roach in our room at one point, which admittedly was gross, but seems pretty common on the island and it comes with the territory. Our toilet was broken and we had to have a tech come out to fix it a couple hours after we checked in, they came and fixed and it was a non-event. The ceiling fan in our bedroom did make an annoying noise, but we kind of tuned it out. But overall, the pool suite is spacious, we had an incredible ocean view which I think the guest experience team made happen for us (many thanks to the team), and I can confirm the bathroom is like a big wet room (shower is large with the tub in there) and is kind of awesome if you are planning to spend a lot of time at the pools, hot tubs, and beach. Things we enjoyed: We really enjoyed our couples massage in the garden at the Anara Spa. What a sensory experience with the breeze blowing through the palms, trickling water through the ponds, and fresh floral smells. We loved the outdoor showers and wish we had time to come back later to cold plunge. As Globalist, we were given a pass to come back on another day to enjoy the amenities again, which was very nice. The pool(s) are spacious with several pockets throughout you can find your place to hang for the day. The lazy river is a little overrated—too slow, doesn’t keep you moving, and is short and doesn’t loop. We enjoyed the beach adjacent to the public beach in front of the hotel (no chairs or umbrellas provided by the hotel, just beach) and we loved the lagoon with the faux sand. Club access we received for being Globalist and it was very good. Solid spread for breakfast . We did not use for the other service times (snacks, hors d’oeuvres, desserts). A lot of birds inside so put your stuff down at a table before you get a plate and sit down. Plates left unattended are bird food! Shout out to the staff at the Club for great service! We enjoyed cocktails and small bites at Seaview Terrace, dinner at Stevenson’s, and dinner at Tidepools. All were pretty great with exception of note below on Stevenson’s. Clearly we did enjoy our time, and I did say we would return to this property, but the hotel is not a 5 star as described. Initially, I thought this hotel competes with The Ritz Maui but quickly determined it does not. For us, this came down to personalization, lack of anticipatory service, and public area maintenance. A few experiences to explain why and to be aware of are below. Wristband and hotel room key wristband system is a nightmare. The hotel allows non-hotel guests to access the pool and spa for a daily rate which 100% negates and devalues the hotel guest. The staff doesn’t always give you a wristband when you get towels and heaven forbid you take your daily wristband and room key wristband off, you are policed and won’t receive service. We found that the staff in most cases would not help you but they would police you. That did not sit right with us and is not at all a 5 star experience. On another day, we rented an oceanfront cabana which was worth all of the dollars really just to see the ocean and enjoy being right up front there facing it. But that price did not come with service. We weren’t set up at the cabana by an employee member like you would anywhere else and a server came around every 1.5 hours at best. We weren’t able to order lunch until way later as our server was MIA. We were asked at one point if we needed sunscreen or towels, which was a nice touch. However, about an hour or so later, saw the same person and asked for a towel and was told “no sorry” not “let me go get one for you or I’ll have my colleague bring you one and how many do you need”. In addition to that, at 3:30pm we were warned about rental expiration at 5pm and then stalked at 4:15pm similar to the way a dog will stare at you if you have a big, juicy piece of bacon in your hand. Again, not even close to a 5 star experience especially at the rate of ~$650 for the day. Stevenson’s we enjoyed for dinner one night and went back for snacks and a night cap on our last night. Be warned, after 9pm on a Sunday the bar turns into employee happy hour. Alot of employees, rowdy, and is just a bad mix with that going on and guests dining. We found this in poor taste and is not the 5 star experience we’ve personally had at a 5 star hotel. On public area maintenance, we saw many people working on the gardens and the upkeep there but it was common to come to the pool in the morning and see unclean pool decks (bandaids, rogue hair ties, cups astray). We understand the staff is doing their best but calling it out on the point of not being a 5 star experience. In summary, we had a great trip and would stay here again. We hope the hotel will take into consideration and improve upon some of the feedback provided & travelers hope you find this helpful. Hot Tip: plan to bring bug spray if you are the type like me who the bugs love. The mosquitoes are abundant, apparently the locals are very tuned into this as mitigation efforts are minimal compared to other islands, and it is generally just buggy. Don’t buy Off and ruin your vacation gel manicure with DEET. Plan ahead and bring your Picaridin-based spray from home!
Exquisite setting and resort experience. Extensive oceanfront property with something for everyone. Gem of Kauai. Buffet breakfast is a must.
This resort is truly amazing! The staff was so accommodating and welcoming! Food was delicious. Will be going back very soon!
My wife and I had a truly memorable experience, grounds were absolutely beautiful and the staff was attentive to all of our needs. Mahalo!
Anniversary trip - 45 years. Overall a great resort and location. Excellent staff with a few exceptions. Amazingly worth every bit for a first-class experience and do want to return more in the future. Lots of things to do and an amazing coastline, golf and swimming/walking.
What I’m sure was grand at one point is now just a tired property in need of updates. The grounds are lovely for the most part. Some ponds and waterfalls not working when we were there. The room was old and dated. The mattress was totally worn out. There were plumbing problems in the room causing noises at all hours of the night preventing sleep. The staff all need customer service training. Not the “grand” property it probably used to be. On the plus side, the breakfast buffet is amazing, they have a decent coffee area run by Honolulu Coffee Co, and Tidepools is a great place to have a romantic dinner.
The property is well decorated and easy to get around
Old outdated room, mosquitoes, and not very clean around the pool area.
Excellent location, great food, and great views of the mountains and the ocean. Lovely landscaping and clean, relaxing pools. The lazy river is more of a floating experience. There is not a lot of current. Tubes are available for rent -$6. Walking paths and activities are available to get you moving. Bikes too. There is also a fitness room, but I never made it there. We had a rental car and explored the entire island from this area.. by land, sea, and air. The breakfast buffet is a must try!
This was our first visit to Kauai and at Grand Hyatt. The place itself is incredibly beautiful with amazing ocean views. Loved spending time all the pools, jacuzzi and the lazy river. They also have a unique saltwater lagoon. The staff were very friendly and hospitable. They even gave us complimentary champagne on check in. Our rooms were very clean and they had good coffee and bath products in it. Definitely a resort worth spending time at if you go, plan to have light days with fewer activities planned so you can enjoy all the activities the resort had to offer, like the Ukulele class we took while there, or others like the lei making class or the various spa and onsite fitness classes. The food was incredible at the Grand Club, it was the best breakfast buffet I've been to! They also had afternoon snacks and hors d'oeuvres and desserts in the evening. The parking was free and close by. The place itself is pretty huge and it might take a day to figure out how to get around. They also had an app which helped finding the way around the resort. Highly recommend staying here!
If you’re looking for a place to celebrate, Grand Hyatt Kauai is the perfect destination. And while you're at it, schedule at least one spa appointment.
Amazing place with amazing staff! Robin, Jenny, Erin, and Ana at the grand club made it extra special!
While many aspects of our visit were positive, several issues caused significant concern and disappointment, and we believe they warrant your attention. Upon arrival, the valet and front desk staff were courteous, friendly, and efficient. However, given the size of the property, we were not informed of the long walking distance to our assigned rooms. Advising guests at check in about room distance and offering a cart ride when appropriate would have been greatly appreciated. The rooms themselves were clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, we experienced a significant mosquito problem throughout our stay, including in the rooms, restaurants, and pool areas. Although we reported this issue on the first day and one room was sprayed, the problem persisted. By the following evening, all rooms were filled with mosquitoes, and everyone in our party was bitten. It appears the treatment was ineffective, likely because housekeeping staff leave hallway doors open while cleaning. Another guest also reported their room was filled with flying gnats, suggesting a broader property-wide concern. For dinner we looked forward to dining at Tidepool as we had a wonderful experience a few years ago. However, as a large group, we were provided with a limited menu consisting of only two entrées, with no vegetarian option. This was especially disappointing because during a previous visit we were able to order from the full menu and enjoy the restaurant’s signature offerings. Our party was also seated at two separate tables far apart from each other, and service felt rushed despite the restaurant not appearing full. Additionally, we were again overwhelmed by mosquitoes during dinner, which further diminished the experience. Breakfast at Ilima Terrace was a much more positive experience. The buffet was reasonably priced, offered a wide variety of options, and the staff were pleasant, efficient, and engaging. The omelet chefs should be commended for their excellent charm and engaging conversation, which made the wait for our orders genuinely enjoyable. We had planned to spend a full day at the pool near our rooms, located by the waterslide. Before we arrived, some members of our group were already at the pool and were told they needed wristbands. One person made the long walk to the towel desk to retrieve towels and wristbands, only to be informed that each guest had to walk there individually. Several members of our group are elderly or have mobility challenges, and this requirement created unnecessary hardship. As we were discussing whether we needed to leave the pool area, the same staff member approached again and loudly announced that we could not remain without wristbands. This interaction was embarrassing, humiliating, and entirely avoidable. The staff member showed no “aloha,” demonstrated poor judgment, and appeared unsuited for a hospitality role. We fully understand the challenges of staffing shortages, but there are reasonable solutions that would prevent this type of experience, such as: • Informing guests of the wristband requirement at check in. • Providing wristbands at check in and allowing one verified guest to exchange them daily for the correct color. • Allowing pool staff to carry wristbands and verify guests by calling the towel desk, eliminating the need for guests, especially those with mobility issues, to walk across the property. Our intention in sharing this feedback is to help improve the guest experience. We hope these concerns will be taken seriously and addressed appropriately and have also written directly to the hotel.
Great location, beautiful resort. Lovely pools. Food? Stevenson's Library was a 10. Seaview had a broken deep fryer so that was a disappointment since our food choices were limited. Tidepools- beautiful location and ambience, however the quality of service, food and price didn't measure up to our expectations for a lovely last night anniversary dinner.
The hotel was perfect. We hope to go back one day.
There is not a place where I have been treated better, more politely, respectfully, and comfortable, than this facility. Thank you for making my Hawaii vacation unforgettable.
Went here on our honeymoon! Everything was fabulous! Staff was amazing! They gave us a complimentary bottle to celebrate it was lovely! Great distance to old Koloa and poipu beach! And beautiful beach at the hotel!! Will definitely be coming back!
We had an excellent stay at the GH Kauai. Our suite was huge. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. The grounds are so beautiful and the pools are outstanding. I want to give an extra shout out to Erin Berg with guest experiences who went out of her way to make my nine year old daughter feel extra special.
An amazing place and incredible experience. We loved everything about the resort from the service, to the room, and the restaurants. We will be back.
The Grand Hyatt was absolutely stunning! The grounds and the pools were the best I’ve ever experienced in my life. Between the pools and the variety of restaurants and activities on site, you never want to leave the property. The views from the hotel are unmatched. We came here for our honeymoon and it was the best decision we’ve ever made. Even though families stay here, the pools were quiet and serene. They even had an adult only pool. The restaurants on property, particularly tide pools, were exceptional. We loved all the small touches like the lei upon arrival, the parrots on the property, live music, and the sustainability choices made by the hotel. You truly feel like you’re in paradise when you’re here.
The Island of Kauai was beautiful. The atmosphere was spectacular. The grounds, lobby and restaurants were amazing. The rooms were clean and beautiful. the staff was wonderful and the service exceptional. I would recommend everyone to stay there.
Incredible grounds, phenominal pool experience, wonderful staff, ideal location, stunning views, fabulous breakfast buffet, mediocre on-site food options / restaurants besides breakfast.
The breakfast and pool was amazing.
The bed was alittle hard and the pillows too soft.
Super mooi resort!!
My husband and I used this resort for our honeymoon and we certainly don’t regret it. The room was nice, we had a great view, and we were right by the pools! The pools are amazing with lots of different places to sit. They have poolside servers so you never have to leave if you don’t want to. Their beach access is basically a private beach. Not super busy but we say sea lions resting on the beach almost every day. The restaurants at the resort are delicious but expensive. I personally think Stevenson’s Library is worth the price!
We absolutely loved our stay @ Grand Hyatt Kauai. It was a core memory that my kids and I will never forget! From the parrots in the lobby to the gorgeous scenery. It rained during our trip, but the kids loved swimming in the pools during the rain. It was also relaxing after a day full of adventure to go rest in the jacuzzi’s at night.
For the price, this hotel is very underwhelming. The rooms are outdated and very basic - certainly not worth the $850 we spent per night. The property is beautiful, but the pools could really use some TLC. The service and on-site restaurants are incredible. Highly recommend Stevensons Library and Tidepools, the food was incredible! The entire pool service team were so amazing - their kindness, attentiveness and positive energy kept us coming back and ordering more. I hate to say it, but I wish we would have spend $350 more a night and stayed at 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay.
Overall it is a 'Nice' resort, clean, nice beach, nice walking paths, nice pools, & Lazy River - but needs some upgrades to the rooms, and somewhat dated decor. Some elevators & their doors needed major rust removal - inside & out. The restaurants on site are nice - but selections are limited and BOOK your reservations well in advance of your arrival. There is a shuttle service to a shopping & Shopping area along the Koloa Road - they are nice, and we did get a few nice things there. The restaurants were varied & nice as well. Good for kids as well we thought. Overall, it is an isolated spot, and possibly that is what people are going there for, or the golfing options perhaps - which seemed pretty great. You'll need to rent a car to see anything as there is no shuttle service other than very locally, and taxi from the airport is $75 for 20 minute drive. The reliability of Uber was questioned by someone we met at the location.
We love Grand Hyatt Kauai and have stayed here several times. Not much more to say except that we love it and enjoy the spa, breakfast, and pools. Tidepools restaurant is also lovely... just book things in advance.
Spacious and large room. Excellent service when requested. Pools were somewhat crowded but we were able to find a place. Breakfasts were very good with short waiting times at peak times. Weather was great. Massages were great.
Food was generally good but pricey, as were the beverages and drinks. I was not fond of the long walks to restaurants and the pool due to my personal limitations.
Heaven on earth! They have thought of the smallest details. In a world where it seems to all be about profit, this place has perfected the customer experience. A guest of honor certificate and the amenities it brought took this experience to an even greater level! We can’t wait to come back
The grounds are fantastic. The spa was fantastic. Housekeeping and service staff at the pool and breakfast were efficient and friendly. Self parking was excellent. The rooms show their age but they are comfortable and reasonably spacious. Dining options for dinner are limited but there are excellent restaurants within a few miles of the hotel.
Beautiful tropical gardens on a gorgeous four star resort. The unique pool design is based on nature and creates spots for you to have your own pool area. Loved the 150 foot pool slide! We often ordered lunch while sitting at the pool. The Hotel is next to Shipwreck beach with local surfers and great whale watching. There is a nice hike to a secret beach just east of the hotel. We loved the open air veranda with a great view of the ocean. Most days we stopped at the little fruit stand to get fresh mango, papaya and smoothies.
Excellent resort, great service, beautiful grounds. Highly recommend! We stayed a few days north shore, then ended our trip in Poipou for a few days.
