Sekala Private Game Lodge

Wir waren zum zweiten Mal in der Sekala Lodge und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Das Personal ist sehr herzlich, das Essen ist sehr gut, das Zimmer sauber und die Game Drives waren informativ, mit einigen Sichtungen und sehr entspannend. Es waren drei wunderbare Tage und wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

Alles in Ordnung

Die Lage der Lodge an einer Bergflanke ist sehr schön. Von der Terrasse des Haupthauses aus hat man eine schöne Aussicht und einen Blick auf ein Wasserloch, an dem sich viele Tiere tummelten, z.B. Zebras, Kudus, Rhinos und Klippspringer. Die Zelte sind komfortabel .Die Verpflegung war reichhaltig und schmackhaft. Da die Lodge maximal 10 Gäste aufnimmt, gibt es keinen großen Trubel. Das Nature Reserve Wellgefunden bietet eine sehr abwechslungsreiche Landschaft und viele Tiersichtungen. Wir haben bedauert, dass wir nur 2 Nächte bleiben konnten.

The staff were fabulous - small numbers of staff and guests made it feel very personal - we were very lucky to enjoy the game drives with Patrick our Ranger who was amazing with his warmth and knowledge . Each meal was fantastic (all prepared by the lovely Grace) . Location was superb. Overall just wonderful!

Soma areas needed a little love & attention, if I was being particular, but nothing that detracted from our stay

The place is relaxing and the staff just goes an extra mile. I actually wanted to extend my stay but they were fully booked

The lodge didn’t communicate that we will be living our car at the Welgevonden main gate We arrived around 16:30 but were collected after an hour leading to us arriving at the lodge around 19:00. I didn’t not get my complementary drink, not that it’s important

Ons verblijf in Sekala lodge was echt een droom. We hebben enorm genoten van de gamedrives in het welgevonden game reserve. Onze driver Jan was zeer vriendelijk en wist ons de mooiste plekjes te tonen en de beste viewings te ervaren. Voor ons was dit de perfecte start van onze rondreis door Zuid Afrika.

Nous avons passé un merveilleux sejour a Sekala. Une première dans cette region pour nous et nous n’avons pas ete déçu. Le personnel est Formidable, accueillant, bienveillant, souriant, poli. Bref RAS. La cuisine est succulente, la cheffe concocté des plats variés et délicieux. Les chambres sont belles, spacieuses et confortable, Evah vous chouchoute. Patrick est un driver super, respectueux que ce soit avec les voyageurs mais aussi les animaux, la flore. Il a tjs un bonjour personnalisé pour les autres drivers. Nous avons fait de super safari avec lui, encore un grand merci a lui ! C’est la première fois que nous avons envie de revenir apres un sejour dans un lodge d’une reserve privé tellement l'expérience ete chouette.

L'équipe était adorable et nous avons très bien mangé. Notre ranger Patrick nous a proposé de super game drive ! Le lodge est très joliment décoré, notament la partie salon avec vue panoramique sur le bush. Un excellent rapport qualité/prix que nous recommandons!

Sekala is one of the most charming lodges you can find. The whole staff makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive and always go the extra mile. The facilities were clean and exactly what you would expect, and more. Would definitely recommend this lodge to everybody.

Tolle Safari Pirschfahrten, gutes Abendessen.

Kaffeemaschine macht keinen guten Cappuccino. Frühstückssäfte entsprechen nicht der Preisklasse. Wein bei Pirschfahrten wurde abgerechnet und zwei Gläser Wein abends wurden mit zwei Flaschen abgerechnet. Preis um 60€ höher als auf Booking angegeben. Es wurden zusätzlich Reservatsgebühren in Rechnung gestellt. Kundenservice ist bereits beauftragt die Sache zu klären.

Zeer vriendelijke personeel, hele goeie game drives, lekker gegeten.

Wenn ich 12 Sterne vergeben könnte, würde ich es tun! Ein unglaublich freundliches Team vor Ort, das den Aufenthalt zu etwas ganz Besonderem macht!!! Tolles Essen inkl. Grillabend. Auf den Game Drives dank der beiden Ranger wirklich alles gesehen. Die Ranger haben unglaubliches Wissen zu Flora und Fauna.

Our ranger Patrick and the whole staff made us greatly welcome. Lodge is beautifully located with quietness & privacy, and offers great safari experience.

Everything!!! The team at Sekala are fabulous ensuring you enjoy your stay. On safari Patrick’s experience and knowledge shine as he does everything possible to get the sightings you are hoping for, and the photos.

The monkeys!!!! If you leave a door or window open even if you are in the chalet but in the bathroom they will come in and steal food. Unfortunately this means you can’t leave doors or windows open.

The staff were absolutely fantastic. They made our stay very special.

They really tried their best to cater for one vegetarian and one pescatarian, but I think their supplies were limited.

Lovely lodge with traditional layout. Small friendly crew of staff created a welcoming family atmosphere. Excellent game drives with ranger (Thomas) who was knowledgeable in both the natural and the cultural history.

The game drives, food and accommodation was exceptional!

Very comfortable and spacious room with super comfy bed and crisp linen. All appliances that you would need - very well appointed. Lovely, friendly staff intent on making my stay as relaxed and pleasant as possible. Really knowledgeable rangers. I learned so much about the ecology of the bush, the game and the predators. Throughly recommend Sekala.

The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. I must specifically commend Patrick, the game ranger, who went above and beyond to ensure a wonderful experience. The room was well-equipped and comfortable, and the lodge area was inviting, with spacious and comfortable open spaces offering a delightful view.

At times, there has been a lack of coordination among the staff, and I have noticed the absence of a lodge manager overseeing operations to ensure a seamless experience. An instance of this was the kitchen offering a substantial Christmas lunch and a large breakfast just 2.5 hours apart, which felt somewhat overwhelming. Additionally, during the Christmas lunch, a power failure occurred, resulting in cold buffet food. This situation could have been mitigated with a few burners or by opting for a plated meal. Improved communication to guests, for example during the check-out and departure process, would have been beneficial, as guests had to inquire. Furthermore, one game drive was notably lengthy (6 hours). On the way back to the gate it started raining. No rain coats were available and guests had to cover themselves with blankets. While these may be considered minor points, addressing them could have significantly enhance the overall experience.

Great central location meant less driving to reach game. The main building was great, so was the chef (Pianos). Also, a very special thanks to Mike, our Ranger, who was phenomenal and found all the game we were looking for and placed us in great situations for interesting photography.

Our chalet was very hot at night, particularly when load shedding was happening. The water hole is too far from the main building to see game, particularly at night as the lighting was very poor.

Breakfast was excellent with various choices. Location in the beautiful Waterberg special.

Away from city really in the bush peace and tranquility,Game drives and view from the restaurant area. It was my birthday weekend chef baked me a cake and got a Moet.

The hour wait at the gate to be fetched.Cars are parked at gate and a game drive car fetches you. So getting to lodge from the gate is a bit of a long drive you park your car at gate and the game drive car fetches you(which is nice). Patrick called me earlier in the day asking about estimated arrival and I told him but then we arrived later than expected traffic and all.I tried calling him couple of times maybe 2 hours before and then again closer to place there was no response. Also tried the lodge number it wasn't coming through.When we arrived we waited over an hour luckily another lodges car was so nice they gave us a ride if it wasn't for them we would have waited almost 2 hours.In this time still no communication from our lodge.When we arrived Patrick was not apologetic even though he did apologize he had I did not care in his face.The driver who gave us a lift made us feel more welcome than Patrick .There is something called black on black discrimination he was even surprised I had a driver's license I do look a bit younger maybe he thought this young child maybe that's y he treated us that way the day we arrived.I do not normally write horrible reviews but he really started my birthday weekend on a sour note. If he had given a heartfelt apology I would have not written this. Also even if he didn't give me that apology but he made us feel welcome I wouldn't have I really did not feel welcome the day we arrived.Things did improve a bit. I must say the waiter worker Lucas really made us feel welcome always smiling so welcoming and chef was great and rest of the workers.

Everything was great during our stay! The lodge is very beautiful and immersed in the nature. Every single one from the staff has been amazing, and Patrick was the best ranger we could have hope for! The food was also amazing! We would definitely come back

I would recommend to add a net over the bed to prevent insects to bother guests while sleeping.

The reserve is wonderful as were our driver/trackers. the staff were friendly and tried to be helpful. our lodge was very clean and comfortable - I particularly liked the outdoor shower!

we had a few service issues that I reported to the operations manager. Shaun responded immediately with a very generous offer to compensate us which was much appreciated .

Beautiful place with an amazing staff!

Superb service from a great small team. Welgevonden is the most beautiful reserve I've ever seen and the sightings are spectacular, mostly due to Patrick's deep knowledge of the bush and the animals in it.

We stayed 2 nights at Sekala Lodge. We were the only guests and were spoiled all round (fine food, friendly staff, great game drives). We saw a lot of Lions and Rhinos and even a Cheetah.

It was unexpectedly cold. We didn't know that Welgevonden is 1400 meters above sea level.

We loved the place and the staff made our anniversary extremely special ! The place is so beautiful from views to the rooms ! We managed to see 4 or the big 5 , which was amazing !We loved it and would definitely go back !

The only thing that we believe it could be improved is the food to match the lodge standards.

The guide Patrick Manyike was outstanding and really made our stay very memorable and interesting. We never doubled back on a route and the sightings were magnificent, thanks to patience and pure good bush knowledge and bush reading.

the lodge staff, was attentive, but we could not get away from the feeling, that the tip we left, was although appreciated, was not what they had expected. It just left us with a slight uneasy feeling. The food was good, but toooo much especially in the evening. This is totally personal, but to go to bed on a laden stomach, is just not always something one is looking for.

Situated deep within the Welgevonden reserve, this lodge offers excellent value for money accommodation. Service excellent. Care given to every detail.
