All was well

The check in was smooth and the staff were friendly. The person at the reception came all the way to the room when We could not find the coffee or tea sachets and kettle. She also called back after our check out when we had forgotten a jacket and offered to post it. Fortunately we were not too far and could come back and collect it. The dinner ( we had the roast chicken and the Tagliatelle pasta) were very nice. The cocktail was quite decent as well. The pub where had our dinner had a nice ambience. I saw some other comments that its an old establishment which it is but its they have made the best out of it. The corridors are nicely decorated and lit with a few nice paintings and pictures of the town. Our room ( superior twin) was spacious and clean .Towels and toiletries were sufficient. Breakfast had a number of options which were different from the usual. The menu which we were shared could be customized as well. At the time of booking from the description it sounded like they have on street parking only but they have a parking area which has quite a few slots. We did not have any problems finding a space. We have an EV car and it was useful that the nearby LIDL/Dunne's parking area had couple of ESB EV chargers. The beds were comfortable.

The walk from the parking lot to the rooms has a few stairs and can be tricky to manage with luggage .The lifts are only available from the reception area which is a bit away from the rear parking lot. The parking area is a bit difficult to find . Best way to reach is probably look for the next door Supervalue parking on the map.

The service was brilliant I didn’t arrive until 9pm phone in advance and they were able to provide me with something to eat from the restaurant and it was really appreciated the staff were very helpful and I would certainly stay there again

Location for our visit was ideal. Bar staff and waiting staff very friendly. Good food in the restaurant and breakfast was very nice.

We found the receptionist was very frosty and not very welcoming. It was very disappointing that the leisure facilities were not available due to maintenance which we were not informed about prior to arrival or when checking in.

Das Personal war äußerst aufmerksam, dabei aber nicht lästig oder aufdringlich. Es gibt so viel Personal, sodass es keinen gehetzten Eindruck macht. Sehr angenehm❗️ Frühstück war super ❗️ Restaurant war sehr gut und hatte eine besonders angenehme, schöne Atmosphäre. Essen prima❗️ Das Hotel verströmt eine alte, aber gepflegte Atmosphäre. All der alte Kram funktioniert prima und ist gut in Schuss gehalten.

Es sollte ein Schwimmbad geben, es war leider wegen Wartung geschlossen. Als Ausgangspunkt zu den "fünf Halbinseln des Südwestens", oder zur Südküste, etwas zu weit.

This is a popular hotel and used by the local population for food and drink as well. Excellent staff and rooms are very nice. Anything that you require if not in the room such as an iron is soon provided. A car park at the rear is sign posted from the main road. There are a few steps but ask the staff and they will assist with wheelchairs via a function room. Otherwise step free access is from the front. Only gripe is that we specifically picked this hotel because it had a pool. No notification was given that it was closed for planned maintenwere until we arrived. Being outside of the free cancellation window and could change our booking.

Room 228 All fine except for the shower unit. It did not function properly as I think it is clogged up with limescale. The rest of these units are probably the same. I suggest that these shower units are now past their useful life and should be discarded. They will continue to get worse and annoy the guests.

Lack of swimming pool due to refurbishment which we were not told in advance, shower drain was blocked, woken at 6am by very loud dance music from neighbouring gym as well as at 3am by banging on neighbours door

Die Fotos auf Booking entsprechend nicht der Realität. Gebucht wurde ein Standard Doppelzimmer. An der Rezeption wurde mir auf Nachfrage mitgeteilt, dass jeder Zimmer anders sei und deshalb ein standardisiertes Bild in Booking verwendet wird. Dieses Vorgehen finde ich sehr schade, insbesondere da die tatsächliche Zimmerausstattung in unserem Fall stark abgewichen ist. Ich werbe dafür das Vorgehen anzupassen und um mehr Transparenz.

We had another wonderful stay at the Castle Hotel, and it was every bit as enjoyable as our first visit — if anything, the standard has improved! It’s a really charming, high-quality town hotel, with plenty of parking to the rear and a great location whether you’re visiting for business or pleasure. Our bedroom was lovely and spacious, with a really comfortable bed, and the bar food was absolutely first class. And the breakfast… honestly, it was to die for! Fantastic quality and beautifully served. The staff were wonderful too — so friendly, welcoming and attentive from the moment we arrived. It’s lovely to see a hotel maintaining such a high standard while still retaining its charm and character. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will most definitely be back. Highly recommended!

The room was extreamly outdated. Very dark old room. No natural light. Very expensive We were really looking forward to the pool onlyl to be told it was out of action for the week on our arrival..no games room or anything to do instead of pool.

Our third stay, and as nice as first two. It is a very friendly hotel, and some members of staff remembered us. The room I think may have been refurbished recently, and was very smart. The restaurant has a good range of meals, and breakfast was extremely good. Parking is tight, but we always found a space

Excellent choice of breakfast which catered well for all our dietary needs. Food was of a good standard and mainly sourced locally Staff very attentive and nothing was too much trouble . Parking on site . The hotel is in the middle of the town so easy to walk everywhere.

Las reseñas que leí no reflejan mi experiencia en el hotel. En mi viaje a Irlanda en 8 hoteles de 4 estrellas el peor sin duda, sin comparación al resto. Desayuno muy normal. Habitación amplia pero cama incómoda y sábanas ásperas. En general creo está sobre valorado para el precio que tiene.

Car park is very small and tight as used by the gym also. Hotel is looking a little bit tired in places.

Recently stayed in Castle Hotel in Macroom for 2 nights. Excellent facilities and delicious food available there. Staff very friendly and helpful. Must recommend this hotel for a stay in this beautiful part of County Cork. Catherine and Patsy.

I've stayed in this hotel before and really it is hard to fault expect for one small thing. Location is perfect with a car park out the back. Staff are so friendly and helpful which I found was the case before. Room was perfect and even had aircon which was a godsend given the very hot weather. The only fault I had with the room was I felt the duvet cover was old, worn and well used. Think they could be replaced. The breakfast is second to none. There is a very comprehensive hot breakfast menu but really no matter what you ordered it was no trouble to the staff. I would be very happy to stay here again and would recommend it to people who want accommodation outside the city of Cork as it is only about 40 mins from the city.

I recently stayed for 3 nights in the Castle Hotel, Macroom, Co.Cork ,..I had a really pleasant stay there...from the minute I entered the hotel, everything was perfect. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly,...food in the restaurant and café was excellent, again service in both super,..my room was very good and I had requested being near the lift so all suited well..I have to say I loved the swimming pool as well,as I had lost a bit of confidence to get into a pool and it all worked out very well...Staff were very friendly in the leisure centre were very encouraging.Its a lovely pool and very easy to get about there safely,..I feel more confident now to get into pools in my home town. So all in all I had a very good experience staying in the Castle Hotel...didn't mention everywhere was spotlessly clean...I've stayed there before and love that hotel and perfect location in lovely Macroom.I will look forward to staying there again, and very happy to confidently recommend to friends who might be heading to /or passing trough Macroom.

The staff & facilities in the bar & restaurant were excellent

Unfortunately, the breakfast was far from satisfactory. The hot food (Irish Breakfast) was burnt. I could not get a knife in the black pudding, sausages & bacon also burnt and my poached eggs were hard.

The hotel is amazing and very clean and the staff is really polite.However there are not many options for people who are vegan. The menu is very limited/non-existing and the hotel needs to catch up with other hotels of same standard.

The staff in this hotel are truly a cut above the rest! As a family we have travelled extensively and have experienced some amazing hotels but the staff in Castle Hotel Macroom make this hotel one of the very best - the courtesy, kindness, patience and attention to every detail make them a stand out crew! This time we stayed to attend Irish Rowing Championships and this hotel did not disappoint. A fabulous hotel, a beautiful town and convenient to travel to the National Rowing Centre and to the surrounding attractions (Linsale is a must!) Every time I stay at this hotel with our Rowing athletes I am overwhelmed by the welcome- Kaye, and the entire staff crew behind the scenes, go above and beyond for our Rowers from making sure that there is boundless good supplies (including preparing food from 5.30am for the early starters) through to having aircon set for us all each day - an absolute Godsend at night! I have stopped off here for twelve years straight and look forward to many more… thank you Kaye and crew 💪

Just returned home after a fabulous 5 nights in Castle Hotel, my 15th visit. We book the hotel for the Irish Rowing Championships every summer and come as a very large group of rowers, parents and siblings. Kay McCarthy has been looking after us all this time and simply cannot do enough for us. The staff are all so welcoming and obliging, the food is always fantastic from breakfast to dinner. The pancakes are divine and the takeaway breakfast baps on the mornings that we had to leave early were delicious. Thanks to Kay, Dan and Rory along with all the staff for another amazing stay, we will be back in 2027.

Mainly the professional, friendly and helpful staff, particularly the waiting staff at breakfast. The room was spacious and well equipped. The breakfast was ace, with great choice and the cooked breakfast was freshly cooked. We just loved the homemade brown soda bread.

The staff at the Castle Hotel are very friendly and professional. The food is great, especially the breakfast where they make their own hash browns! The Castle Hotel goes above and beyond to keep guests happy. I recommend it to everyone.

We went for a destination wedding with 70+ people. The Castel Hotel was incredible. Must say the best stay by far of any establishment i have been to. The staff is professional trained polite friendly attentive and down to earth people that make you feel at home. Highly recommend!!

I asked for a quiet room because we were coming off a big hike and needed a good sleep, and we got the perfect room, way down the end of a corridor. Staff were lovely, the breakfast was good, and the food in the bar next door was great. Plus there was a good size bathtub in the bathroom that was everything my aching body needed!

Rooms were clean but standard of mattresses is poor. I have stayed in 2 star hotels with better mattresses. The mattress was old and springs were gone. It was a box spring matress and was also lumpy. Wouldnt come back to stay again. Last time i was on a similar matress was over 20 years ago. Most hotels have very good standard for matress.

Staff was very kind in general. The pool and sauna are really nice for relaxing. We also ate at the restaurant everyday and the food and service was fantastic. We would love to comeback someday.

Really lovely stay and warm welcome. I had some lovely chats with Catherine at reception on late arrival. Room was really nice, though you do have to walk down a looooooongggg corridor to get to it, but it was worth it. Wished I had stayed longer instead of a quick flying visit.

Popped in for a quick lunch, girls serving were lovely but the food didn't come at the same time, toasted sandwich came with half a plate of grated carrot not a salad or wedges as advertised and the soup tasted like a cheap tin
