The rooms have had a make over. We had broken chair in the tv area. We tried to phone about 5 times on our way to property and no answer. The reception is not manned and you can’t get into your room even 15 mins early. Check in 4pm and no one on counter till 4pm. Breakfast starts at 8pm and doors into dining area locked till exactly 8am. Ok but would I stay again? NO
Ideal place, staff lovely, felt very relaxed and welcome
Staff were nice. But felt the place needs updating. On a positive note the view was amazing of the sea & beach.
Good clean room with great view
Not to bad
Staff really friendly and helpful. Great place to stay, we stopped for 2nights doing the Nc500 road trip and good stop for that. Got a few pubs and Black Pearl restaurant nearby which was ace :) We had a bit of damp by the entrance hallway, which I hope they will sort out.
The Millcroft was small hotel with many stairs. Perhaps not the best for people with mobility issues, but clean and convenient. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Staff were very good. Breakfast excellent, dinner very limited choice (other venues locality were also limited). Suite I was in very good until the rain came in through the roof.
Before we were even in the door, therecwax a notice advising people that no meals to be taken to rooms, as previous customers had left a mess! The suite was perfectly good...but kitchen area had 2 mugs..one chipped, 2 teaspoons, a kettle that wouldnt switch off, and no teatowels or basic cutlery. Bathroom fine, but toilet seat, too small and extreme wobbly! The meal at night, and the breakfast were excellent. The staff seemed to consist of 3 girls, who were obviously multitasking...i take my hat off to them, they were extremely professional!
Great, comfortable room with a beautiful view across the loch. A pity that the left window wasn’t cleaned and was covered in salt spray. Restaurant menu was unexciting but our fish and chips were fresh and well cooked.
The staff were extraordinary and the view was amazing.
Room was clean, bathroom looked like it has had a recent refurb. Views over the bay are some of the best we have seen. Staff friendly & helpful. Only slight negative was food service was a bit slow
Fantastic views and a delicious breakfast
The hotel was so beautiful and the people there were so kind. The view is to die for.
Lovely views, great breakfast and friendly staff
This is a pub with rooms, friendly welcoming staff, and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Food in the pu was also delish.
Good food and great place to stay
Excellent all round.
Great breakfast
Really friendly welcome and good hotel in good location Good evening meal although service was quite slow Nice breakfast Easy check out
Good location with great view from the room across the water. Convenient having restaurant on site. Spacious room with modern bathroom. Staff very welcoming and helpful.
We stayed two nights at this hotel and it was a good place to stay. The parking lot is limited but the hotel is not too big so I don't think that will be an issue. It's located right across the way from the ocean so it has nice views. We really enjoyed the attached pub. The food was decent. The room was on the small side but had everything that you need. Overall, a good hotel to stay at!
Spacious room. Very slow breakfast service, my husband ordered scramble egg on brown toast and only received a pile of scramble egg.
Our room had an outlook over the sea. It was quite pleasant although compact. Meals were good and the bar staff and hotel management were very helpful.
I book this property in reviews and probably my own fault, but arrived early to checkin and was greated with we don’t check in until 3.45pm. Asked is bar open and response was not until 5pm. Asked where could we go in meantime as it was cold and rainy and he suggested lunch at another place. Having lunch thought about it and actually did not stay and instead drove 4.5hrs to Oban to find a nice place and room. Would suggest that the hotel is run by tired people and could not recommend this based on my experience.
Was a lovely place to stay and the breakfast was absolutely amazing.
Warm welcome from very friendly receptionist. All staff chatty and knowledgeable about the area
Property was clean and Duncan was very helpful. He was only staff member we saw as he was on reception and served breakfast. Hotel was set on a hill so ot was a 35 step climb to get up to it or a walk up the hill along the front of it and parking was limited.
Our room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant offered some good choices.
Very friendly helpful staff, Good food with a fantastic view
We loved the place. Would stay there again in a heartbeat if back this way again. We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Those meals were great too. All the staff we encountered were very pleasant. The only issue we had was a cold shower that never did warm up at all. Presumably a maintenance issue that will be corrected in short order.
Expected a typical room and we're given a suite a refreshing surprise and much appreciated!!
We enjoyed our suite, which was fully equiped warm and with great character. The term " sea view" was very apt. We will be going back and would highly reccomend it.
The hotel was nice and comfortable. Had problems with the restaurant, as it was end of season, and they were looking to “get rid of their old food”. It was not good. Probably in season the food is fine. Aside from the food, it’s a nice place.
Very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room, tasty restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. We also enjoyed the ambience of the village.
I had an idea excellent stay. Staff were all helpful and welcoming
Tv in room didn't work. Man did come and look at it but failed. I would have liked a mirror in bedroom. Only mirrors were in bathroom. Need mirror near socket for drying hair.
Okay for one night! Bed not very comfortable and there was no hot water in the morning…
One if those hotels I wish to return to. I would book early and only book if I could specify the room I had this time
Nice hotel and great food.
Very good, only gripe limited menu, 2 nights menu 2 nd night was less than previous night, must admit was a Sunday
Amazing room
Friendly, clean & comfortable hotel Food in the restaurant was excellent.
The room was ok, but no toiletries, the shower did not have a door, the tv was very small. Dinner was ok but very expensive for what is was. Breakfast was a continuous walk back and forth to get things, nothing on the table at all, had to ask for coffee refill. The place was generally dusty and grubby
What a wonderful hotel with a very spacious room, friendly staff and a great Scottish breakfast each morning!
It was run down. The food was awful. The beds were very uncomfortable.
Service for dinner was really slow. We had been sitting g an hour before we finally got service.
Very nice place! Friendly, welcoming staff, nice bar. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. No issues. Very relaxing place.
Nothing
The Millcroft Hotel is excellent value for money. The staff are very welcoming and always friendly. We stayed in Room 6 with excellent views of the bay. Dinner menu had lots of variety, food was great. Cooked breakfast plentiful and beautifully served. Highly recommend for any length of stay!
Privately owned hotels are struggling, and it showed. Bed - VERY POOR QUALITY - ALSO TOO SMALL. Hotel - Needs to be smashed down and rebuilt, it’s WAY past it’s sell by date. The only upto date item about the hotel, the price it charges per night - 150 pounds for a couple. It’s not worth half the money. Will definitely be back on the NC500 route, Scotland is beautiful, so beautiful it HAS to be seen. Use branded hotels they have the money and the infrastructure to offer you, what you will pay for. The privately owned ones don’t have the money backing behind them, and they think they are better than they really are. Sorry but true, rather sleep in your car, I’m not joking.
We paid for the hotel but we didn’t stay, the room was uninhabitable, cold dirty and damp, it was so bad we walked out almost immediately without knowing if we would be able to find anywhere else for the night, we decided the car would be cleaner!
Host and staff incredibly hospitable and helpful. They went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The folks of Gairloch and the west of Scotland are as special as the beautiful environment. Slainte!
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very clean hotel, friendly staff and wonderful view from bedroom window. Food good with large portions. Would happily stay there again
Nice peaceful stay along the shoreline.
Lovely position of hotel overlooking the sea. Nice food.
Amazing, good food, nice people, great service beautiful location
Staff were very friendly, engaging and helpful through the whole stay. Dinner and breakfast we're lovely, great quality and very tasty. Perfect place for a motorcyclist enjoying the beauty of the NC500.
Everything was great!
Comfortable
Very nice room , with a really comfortable bed, dinner in the evening was excellent
Staff very helpful and friendly. Accommodation was very spacious and comfortable. Position of hotel was lovely with sea views. Not sure if it was but got the feeling it was a family run business with the attention given to guests.
The Millcroft hotel is a small hotel in Gairloch, it’s friendly, clean and comfortable. We had dinner at the hotel, which was very good and breakfast the next morning was the same.
The room was very small. I had paid extra for a mountain view which was quite obscured by the bed and a lamp. Unfortunately, the room was situated above the kitchen and there were two industrial extractor fans by my window. This meant it was SO noisy and I felt like I was next to a car with it's engine running. It was so stressful. I asked about changing rooms but apparently the hotel was full. The noise went on from about 4pm until about 10pm and started again in the morning at a out 7am. Horrendous! If you stay in this hotel, make sure you don't have room 1.
Great staff very understanding as I was very late checking in and they waited for me. Very friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend this hotel.
We were doing the WC500 and this was one of the best nights sleep we had. Really comfy bed and lovely sheets, room was spacious and clean and a lovely view over the shoreline. The shower was great and powerful too. If there was any criticism the only thing I would change was the sausage at breakfast, I'm from Ireland and we take our sausages very seriously there, and it was the only thing that disappointed ;-) However it would definitely not stop me staying again or highly recommending tis lovely hotel .
Nice clean room, good fast food & great sea views.
Great experience, nice staff, great big cooked breakfast, great shower also.
Lovely location, good value and friendly staff. Fairly basic but for peak season I could not fault this hotel based on what I paid. Wish I’d stayed longer…
Lovely hotel and all the staff where as well nothing was to much for them all would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others 🙂
With the exception of the barman... the friendliest staff you could hope to meet. Comfortable, practical rooms with good sea views from the front. Small double beds were comfortable but too small for us. Tangled christmas lights ( August?) and plastic table coverings with animal prints did nothing to compliment the good food in the restaurant. Old and uncomfortable bench seating in restaurant would be more inkeeping with a saloon bar. Overall the staff and manager are the stars of this hotel.
The hotel was clean and comfortable with friendly and helpful staff.
Had a seaview room, and it was lovely to sit there and watch the light go in the evening. Condiments with the evening meal would be better served in a dish, with a better quality product. Coffee in the morning was not proper coffee - a disappointment.
The mattress was really used I mean it is really up for a change. The coffee tasted like water. Good portion of food, nice breakfast, extremely friendly staff. I would say little overpriced and the mattress should be changed.
The hotel was nice and clean. My room was clean . And well presented, my breakfast, was well cooked and a nice view Whist eating my breakfast
A nice stay at a small hotel. Definitely worth paying for the sea view which was beautiful despite the misty weather. Small room but big enough for what we needed. Meals were fine, we had dinner and breakfast, both were adequate
The hotel was lovely and our room was spot on. Everything was clean and in good repair. Our ‘sound and vision’ technicians were very helpful and breakfast was a super surprise. Would definitely recommend. Extremely disappointing and stressful check-in but everything else made up for it.
Disappointing to dreadful. This was one of the most expensive hotels we stayed at during our recent holiday in Scotland, but certainly the worst. The room was only ok, although smelt a little damp, the towels were frayed and there was a footpath just outside so wasn't as private as we would have liked. The access through a one- way outside service corridor was weird, not what you expect from a Hotel at this price to say the least. Cosy and welcoming it was not..... . The main hotel was shabby and dated. The food was dreadful, overcooked and salty. With the exception of one friendly waitress the customer service was non existent. Would not recommend.
Very friendly, great room and food.
The hotel is well positioned with lovely views over the loch. Check in was done efficiently. I was surprised by our room as it was like a self catering chalet with its own kitchen and little sitting room. A little disappointed that the tv was on the sitting room with none in the bedroom. The bathroom was lovely with a great shower. There was an on site bar and restaurant. We had dinner once and breakfast twice. The food was ok but nothing special. The staff were very accommodating though and organised breakfast on our second morning for 7.45 instead of 8. All in all an ok stay with bits of greatness.
Quiet location, cleanliness ok but could be better, this and service may have been hampered by staffing issues at the time of our stay.
Stayed in a suite with great sea views!!!! only problem with this room were the steps but as far as we are aware, this was the only rental suite on the second floor but other suites were on the first floor with fewer steps
We had a suite, which was ideal, plenty of room to move around and relax.
Well what can I say absolutely fantastic staff very welcoming food great best haddock i have ever had views to die for, with the weather i could have been in Europe. If you have not been to this part of Scotland gairloch give it a go it's stunning you won't be disappointed 😁😁
Friendly staff
The staff could not have been more helpful. Great location. Very good food.
Felt very run down and staff seemed disinterested. No hand sanitiser in hotel and cutlery on tables not used by guests was reused without washing! Food was pretty bad. Altogether a disappointing experience and not cheap!
Large rooms with great views.
Friendly staff comfortable room and good food
Great stay. Comfortable, clean, great staff. Lovely setting and views. Good breakfast and wide ranging dinner menu
