Handy location for what we wanted
Breakfast effectively self catering Noisy room No air con and only window opened out onto busy main road
Loved location and lovely clean room with all that we needed
Karaoke was a bit loud downstairs could here it all in the room but was quiet from 11.30 onwards
The breakfast basket was not what we expected we thought it was going to be a full cooked breakfast the contents of the basket all sweet things nothing savoury who wants a bar of chocolate or boiled sweets for breakfast
A cooked breakfast and a clean room
Rooms were fantastic. Clean and well thought out.
Our twin room was very comfortable and clean. We booked for breakfast but they don’t have a dining room however they left us a lovely hamper with lots of cereals, muffins, breakfast pastries etc also a well stocked fridge with milk, juice etc so we had breakfast in bed and no rushing to get to dining room … excellent!!!!
There was no check in desk just the bar but that wasn’t a problem.
Rooms are very nice, location is well situated
Business has been recently taken over so there is now no kitchen, so no cooked breakfast, just a basket of basics in the room.
There was a problem with our booking but it was sorted very quickly and efficiently. A lovely room and very friendly staff.
I cannot think of anything.
Location was great to start the Dales way.
Nothing
Great location even though over a busy road good glazing kept noise low. Breakfast was unbelievably generous. Beautifully decorated and very well equipped.
Not a problem for most but very steep stairs to rooms posed a little difficulty for my mobility issues.
Great Bike storage for a group of 6. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Beds comfortable. Lovely view of the church. Quiet. Staff were friendly and very helpful.
It wasn't clear when I booked that breakfast was a hamper. I only found out when I notified them that I have a vegan diet. Despite giving an advanced request, the only non- egg or dairy food was a small bag of dried fruit. I don't consider that to constitute bed and breakfast. Great stay if you don't mind going out to find breakfast in the morning. Weatherspoons kitchen was closed, so we ended up walking to Booths.
Location & very comfortable room
They had stopped offering food
Comfy bed. Good bathroom.
No cooked breakfast provided despite having paid for bed and breakfast. A pathetic breakfast hamper provided in room with cheap, tasteless ultra processed food. No restaurant or food available in the evening despite having pre booked dinner No ale in pub. Busy noisy road Staff exasperated with new management despite trying their best to please Very poor value for money given lack of kitchen facilities and
Location
Not as described when booked no restaurant and no cooked breakfast
Great location. The rooms were nicely presented, modern and very clean.
Clean, easy check in and nice goodies in the fridge. Big bathroom.
Not much.
A great unexpected find, this place. Just wanted one night near relatives, and it was well-priced for July. And it's lovely! Not just comfortable but stylish/boutique; immaculately clean, quiet (the downstairs closes at 10); very centrally placed. Very generous (continental) breakfast in room provided. Staff are LOVELY, very obliging.
Street noise - but it goes with being that central.
Excellent location smack in the heart of Ilkley. Conveniently near restaurants, shops, and the start of the Dales Way. Well-appointed room with comfy bed, tea/coffee facilities, and a pleasant en-suite bathroom. During the warm weather, it was nice to have a fan available, and the option to swap the heavy duvet for a lighter sheet made for better sleep than we might otherwise have had.
Staff seemed confused at check-in, almost as if they hadn't anticipated guests. The kitchen is no longer in operation, so there was no option of a cooked breakfast. Although a generously stocked in-room breakfast hamper was provided, we'd have preferred that this be communicated ahead of time. Further confusion on morning of departure, when staff knocked on our door to say our baggage transfer service needed our bags half an hour before the agreed-upon time (which turned out not to be the case), resulting in our hastily packing up.
The room was very nice. It had everything that was needed including a fan/aircon! And it was clean. The staff member who took me to the room was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is a hamper with lots of choice of cereal, fruit, yoghurt etc.
The room would have been quiet, except for a certain World Cup fixture that night - this wasn't the fault of the pub - however do be aware that this IS a pub and will be showing live sporting events. I got the fresh milk out of the fridge for my cereal in the morning and it was off - no idea whether it was already like that, or if the fridge wasn't coping with the heat (although it was cold whenever I had opened it) It was early so I couldn't find anyone to ask for a replacement, not a major problem for me though as I had the instant porridge instead.
Central
On main through road and very noisy
Clean rooms, very cosy
Breakfast seems no longer to be as on the pictures. Breakfast basket in room now.
Room a good size, well appointed and very clean. Nice outside space and bar area nice. Breakfast supplud as a basket with good choice and more than enough. Bed comfortable. Staff were pleasant and helpful
Parking very limited. Clientele were very young and pub side did not seem very busy so lacked atmosphere. Bar prices were inconsistent - cherged three different prices for the same round of drinks
I booked this accomodation for its location to a show we were attending. Ideal location for facilities in town, train station etc. Room was spacious with great ammenties...coffee machine, fan ,fridge etc.
We booked as price included english breakfast, but on arrival was told kitchen had permenantly closed . Website still ecouraging us to book a table for pur evening meal. Room had hamper with cereal ,cake and some fruit. Ok but not what we were expecting or had paid for. Also the accommodation was un manned over night .We were given keys to enter the pub if we were back late but basically were left to it. As 2 ladies travelling together we we werent very comfortable with this .Feel we should have been made aware of this and the no restaurant situatio .
L’endroit- centre ville
Le personnel est désintéressé et l’accueille très froid. Le petit dejeuner est pre- fourni dans la chambre ( ceci est bien expliqué au moment du reservation) Le premier jour le lait dans le mini frigo était tourné et un Orange moisie.
Location, room
Really loud and not just when England were playing on the second night
Our room was spotlessly clean with everything we needed for an overnight stay. The bed was extremely comfy. The brewing station was well stocked & included biscuits. The room also included fans which were extremely welcome during the hot weather. The shower gel & handwash were also plentiful & smelled fabulous. It was also a refreshing change to have an iron & ironing board in the room. The location was excellent as it was in the town centre & the staff were friendly & helpful. The pub has recently changed hands & cooked food is no longer available. However, the breakfast hamper which is provided has a good selection of cereals inc porridge & comes with 2 small bottles of milk, 2 bottles of water, yoghurts and my particular favourite - 2 Freddo chocolate bars 😂Whilst this may not be to everyone’s taste, I think they have made a good effort to compensate for the kitchen closure.
Nothing
Good overnight stop to explore Ilkley Moor. Room good for old pub establishment, excellent in room breakfast provided
Great location. Comfortable and clean room. Provided coffee making facilities and a great spread for breakfast to do in your room. Staff explained everything well and were friendly and approachable
The room was very hot. To be fair it was an exceptionally hot day and night and fans were provided
Excellent location, very clean room and fantastic breakfast basket with enough provisions for a week!!!. Staff were very friendly and explained the check in/ out procedure very well. Excellent choice of beers and great beer garden. Highly recommended.
The only car park is outside the rear of the premises with only limited spaces. However the main council car park is 1 minute away but the price is £1.50 an hour but free between the hours of 1800 hrs and 0800 hrs.
Central location, easy access to everything. Great nights sleep. Large family room in
The location is excellent, close to shops and transport. The rooms were very clean and had everything we needed.
We stayed there last year and decided to go back as it was excellent, this time it had had a change of management and the kitchen had been closed, so no cooked breakfast or any other food, the breakfast was a hamper in the room which wasn’t too bad but disappointing. The staff were good but the pub was empty of customers.
Central Fridge in room
WiFi issues
Great location, in room self service breakfast was a great touch, staff were really helpful
Nothing
Good size room and bathroom. Staff friendly and helpful Good range in breakfast hamper
No free parking
The room was warm when we got there, by the evening, it was very very hot. By 10:30pm, it was unbearable. The windows were painted in and could not be opened. The fans were ineffective. We left at just after 10:30pm. I contacted The Black Hat by email to explain that we had left and our reasons for doing so. I have heard nothing back from them. When we were still in the room, we did think to contact the manager on the number on the key fob but we decided that it was late and if there had been an alternative room, they would surely have not put paying guests in this room. There should be guidelines to say that hotels can not rent out rooms above a certain temperature and without adequate air conditioning facilities
Location
Not clean. Rooms poorly ventilated. Cold breakfast in room. Milk and orange juice were "off".
Very comfortable room. Ideal location.
Bathroom layout good and breakfast hamper good
Noise from road. No temperature control option.
It was so comfortable and clean and the staff were fantastic
Parking was a bit limited but other than that it was great
Location was central and close to train station
Bar shut early and no cooked breakfasts or meals
Within walking distance of train station, Saturday 9am parkrun at East Holmes Park. An evening walk alongside river Wharfe for picnic dinner. All Saints Church opposite contains many Saxon crosses & grave slabs. Substantial breakfast served in hamper in bedroom. Neat & smart black electric fan invaluable.
Nothing.
Staff did their very best to mitigate the decisions the operator made in regards to closing the kitchen but taking bookings where breakfast was included and paid for.
Rate included breakfast. Breakfast was in a basket in the room, mostly highly processed food and no table to sit at. Sport Bar directly under our room with TV’s roaring until 11:30pm at night.
The room was a great size. Very clean and the bathroom was very impressive. There was a breakfast hamper in the room as they dont do food and this was well stocked. Would highly recommend. The bed was really comfortable, slept very well. Dog friendly as well.
Couldn't get in initially despite asking a few days before if we could leave our case there. However this was soon sorted after I sent a message.
Although the breakfast was in the room and from a basket, it was plentiful and contained good quality tasty items- much more than anyone could eat. The room was contemporary and very comfortable.
a small criticism was that only one chair was supplied- one of us had to perch on the bed to eat breakfast.
Very clean, nice staff, comfy bed and a pleasant enough room
The generator outside was a bit noisy and the WiFi was awful
Comfortable room.
Change of ownership/management so no longer doing cooked breakfast which was disappointing, just Cold breakfast items in room. Lots of traffic noise. Pay parking close by but expensive, complicated to pay, and very hungry traffic wardens!
Friendly staff Generous breakfast hamper
That it was central to our needs while visiting ilkley
Didn’t feel welcomed !
Staff and location were very goog
The booking was made with an inclusive breakfast. Site showed pictures of a fully cooked breakfasts but on arrival advised they were no longer doing cooked breakfasts. No refund/reduction offered - complained directly to hotel - no response. Rooms are now reduced in price, I assume due to the absence of breakfast but the whole thing stops it being relaxing and ruined the break!
Comfortable room, friendly staff
Having paid for a stay including a cooked breakfast they no longer have a working kitchen. So breakfast consisted of cereal fruit and a croissant in our room. Which, based on the room rate currently available, cost us £37.
Lovely bedrooms and bathrooms, very clean
We booked with cooked breakfast but due to a change of management this was not available and we weren’t pre informed
Lovely room
Road noise
Great room, comfy bed, good shower and decent breakfast.
Parking tricky
Central location. comfortable bed and quiet location. Helpful staff.
The bedroom windows couldn't be opened because they had recently been painted over. Fortunately the night was cool but in summer it would have been very hot and stuffy. There was no Muesli or yogurt for breakfast. though the scrambled eggs were OK. There were no staff there overnight, though there was an emergency telephone number. The bar shut before 10 pm so we had to go to another pub for a drink after the concert we had attended in the town.
Good location. Very clean and tidy. Friendly staff.
No parking in a town with exploitative on street parking rates.
great place to stay, central location, room was lovely and clean, would recommend
Good location, nice room, quiet.
Breakfast was quite basic and didn’t match what I would expect for the quality of the rooms.
Very central. Friendly staff.
Check in was a phaff but think it was them having a new system. Eventually realised they could give us our room and sort their systems out later. Breakfast starts at 8.30 which was good for us. Dannie had to do everything so be patient.
The rooms were very comfortable and well equipped, Bed was comfy and although the room was next to a busy road we were never disturbed by traffic. All staff were pleasant and friendly. The breakfast was good quality and an adequate size. Could probably be improved with a breakfast menu, when you first come down on day one if there's no one around its a bit confusing, there's only one staff on duty and she's taking orders and cooking. Room for improvement.
The Pub downstairs is in my opinion in need of an upgrade although I understand it has recently changed hands,so wait and see. We were not impressed with the one evening meal we had, very basic. Perhaps the biggest drawback is parking, there is room at the rear for two cars, otherwise it's the public car park at the back of the pub but it's pricey if your leaving the car for a long period. I guess there's nothing they can do about this.
Camera spațioasă și luminoasa
Breakfast was quite good. Fairly limited choice. Toast was just regular thin sliced bread. No boiling water to make tea.
See above.
Helpful staff. The manager even rang me to let me know that my bag had been collected by the baggage transfer company. Magnifying mirror in the room
The menu needs tweaking. But the manager explained that they had only just taken over and it was being reviewed
Nice, good size room. Appears to be freshly refurbished. Good location in town. Friendly and helpful staff in hotel. Good breakfast
Prior to arrival we were unable to get any person to answer the phone to discuss aspects of our booking. Calls went to an unhelpful chat bot or equally unhelpful central booking desk or went to voicemail (unanswered). One response to questions posted on Booking.com promised a callback but it never came. On the Sunday night the pub was practically out of draught ale - Only one beer on tap and that was past its best
Breakfast was good parking was a problem and not cheap
It is a sports bar but the room was clean and comfortable
We booked a room for an overnight stay with breakfast at the Black Hat, booking and checking was seamless and the member of staff was excellent, friendly and explained everything. We had the Bird room. Named after a Dicky Bird legendary cricket umpire. This was a king room and was spacious and decorated in soothing heritage colours. Large on suite and the bed was comfy, just enough support from the mattress. Whist above the bar there was little noise in the room. Breakfast was hot, tasty and filling and the young lady serving was excellent. Right in the town centre but also handy for open countryside. All in all a good place to stay.
One little area for possible improvement, out toom overlooked the road and there was a lampost outside. The curtain is slightly away from the window so the room was never properly dark, perhaps a blackout blind.
Great location, the room was really nice, breakfast was good quality
I think they could do with an extra member of staff on breakfast duty to help the lady who was taking orders, serving and clearing tables. The extra helper could then provide you with a breakfast menu, as there wasn't any chance to read what was on offer and also they could keep on top of refills of coffee and orange juice.
Great central location, great breakfast, rooms were very comfortable
Parking was an issue
Lovely room. Everything was top quality. Bed and pillows were super comfortable. Very central location on the Main Street but silent at night. We really enjoyed our stay at the Black Hat.
Not a criticism in any way but we did have to wait a long time for our breakfast due to only one member of staff, cooking and serving. When the breakfast did arrive it was lovely. Everything was piping hot and just enough to start our day.
Lovely room
Beds comfy, shower & bath great. Tea selection. Breakfasts. Manager Tony was lovely.
The bathroom sink tap sprays straight out of the sink all over you! Could have been cleaned a bit better, under the coffee machine was filthy. Some things a little worn & old. Over £100 a night too much. Shame it was Nescafé coffee & machine, owned by Nestle one of the most ethically corrupt companies in the world.
Friendly staff, clean room, nice breakfast.
However, I think it was very overpriced for a room above a very noisy bar. We stayed two nights in Stratford-upon-Avon in a 4-star lovely hotel on our way home to Cornwall, which was half the price and quieter.
Great value and choice
Large room, most comfortable bed! Lovely design Very friendly welcome
It was perfect, planning on a return visit
Central location within town.
Our host Tony was amazing, gave us lots of info on where to visit and really looked after us x
It was all great
Small but comfortable and well appointed room overlooking the local church, well located just off the high street in the centre of town. It is above a pub and I guess if we'd gone to bed earlier we would have heard noise but we weren't aware of any noise on our stay.
I wasn't comfortable putting my payment details into a iPad to make the payment. The staff assured me this is fine and normal but I am sure next time I will try to pay online, in advance.
Friendly pub in a great location. Near to shops, restaurants and cafes. Clean, large room. Small car park but right next to the public car park if there is no room. Pub meals at a reasonable price.
Ilkley itself is expensive.
Location was very good
Can get a bit noisy
The room was super comfortable and clean and had everything we needed for an overnight stay. There is a small amount of parking and if available you can park there you just need to pop in and ask. Breakfast that was included was made to order with fruit cereal and yogurt tea coffee free to select. Would stay again if retuning to ilkley. Good location as central to pretty much everything as quite a small village.
Rooms are very comfortable, location ideal for us visiting family, friendly staff.
Breakfast service could have been quicker. Has been faster on previous visits.
The location was excellent, right in the town centre.
Breakfast didn't start until 0800 and we needed to be away so cannot comment. The exterior doors were locked at least 15 minutes early, so I had to get out of bed and dressed to let my husband in. The shower was over the bath with no grab rails which was difficult for me - found it hard to get anything more than lukewarm water and the hairdryer didn't work
Located in centre of Ilkley , 2 free parking spots otherwise main car park just behind hotel @ £1.50 per hour Bedroom ( up one flight of stairs ) we found very good , clean , comfy queen size bed , en suite shower n loo Hotel itself if a public bar , breakfast was ok , staff great
Old hotel so slightly dated but otherwise fine
Fabulous place and the staff are excellent especially the Manager, Tony.
Nothing
Nice big room , fairly quiet
Location
Breakfast - you're eating in a pub so be prepared
Last minute booking but was very happy with the place considering what we paid.. room we had was a little on the small side but we managed. Breakfast was in the bar area and this may not be for everyone depending upon what you expect, but what we got was good and the staff were spot on.
It was in a central position
Nothing
The black hat was the best. Great service and a great place
