The location was perfect
The room we stayed in had a loft hatch and made be quite uneasy for the night, it was small and very hot, the hotel has a musty smell through out which wasn’t very pleasant
Close to the town centre, room very quirky, very clean and well equipped.
No tv or way to play any music.
Very quirky decor
Access difficult due to car parked at entrance. Wastebin hadn’t been emptied. Floors in need of repair
Such an interesting and unique property. As soon as you walk in all the little touches made it feel really special. Check in was easy, location really convenient but also our room was quiet which was nice. Decorated beautifully and we loved that this was a space that highlighted history’s brilliant women. We loved that there was no TV, we brought some games and had such a lovely cozy night together.
No parking on site but paid on street parking available just up the road!
The location was great, easy to get into Ilkley and visit the shops, bars and restaurants. Very close to the train station. I liked the room. My room was large and I loved the bathroom. The posh coffee pods were a nice touch and I liked the extra stock available on each floor. The bed was comfy and I slept very well.
I didn't see one member of staff or other guest and it felt more like a bedsit than a hotel. Some people may like that and see the uninterruptions as a positive. I had my own room and I was with friends (hen do) staying in their own rooms so it worked ok this time. I would recommend sharing a room for company, it could feel quite cosy and private. It smelt a bit damp in the communal areas, it is an old building and not aired well as it remains locked up all the time. I didn't like the seeing the unused bar either. It didn't look welcoming and a bit sad to see. It added to the bedsit feel.
Location
3rd floor very small attic room with very low ceiling photos suggest much larger room. Chipped glasses, dirty drawers, dusty, unstable creaky chair, smell of damp as ceiling paint comming off & unfresh bedlinen. Overall needs attention as looking tired.
Location and good advice on parking options. Nice decor.
Unloved entrance via the back. Damp smell in entrance hall and stairs. Bar not open. Open plan ensuite, not for us. Who wants to be in the same room as some using the toilet! No wardrobe or long hanging. Insufficient light from bedside lamps. Sorry, definitely not our thing. Style over practicality.
Loved the quirky decor and having something totally different to a typical hotel room. Room and bathroom were great and bed was very comfy.
I have never been to a zero staff hotel before and it just felt a bit weird. Much more like an Air B&B process with keys held in a key safe and we did not see another sole during our visit. Fully aware that times are extremely tough for businesses at the moment and the room was comfy, clean and well-priced.
Nice big room and had everything we needed
The parking was abot of an issue but apart from that excellent 👌
The decor is quirky and the rooms are well appointed.
The information about the hotel on Booking.com is misleading. It suggests there is a bar beneath the hotel. We didn't need the bar, but it meant the downstairts of tyhe building as completely vacant. The entrance is round the back, up a dark side-road, with other neighbouring buildings, which were vacated. Because their is no staff on site at the hotel, it didn't feel particularly safe.
The decor and bathroom were gorgeous. The location was fabulous. I liked not offering breakfast as I could brunch at Betty's instead (pre book). Had a lovely couple of days in Ilkley. The hotel was perfectly situated
Great, large room. Wonderful manager.
Bar not open.
Tolle Kaffeemaschine im Zimmer und sehr charmante Dekoration.
Die Parksituation ist sehr dürftig.....
It's a really classy quirky hotel. It just made us smile
It's sad that the gin bar is closed at the moment as I bet it would be great
Great character in the room Lovely high ceilings Lovely roll top bath
We loved it and would come back. 2 slight things were no door to the toilet and a little noisy based on thin windows and the road outside
Prachtige kamer en badkamer! En zelfs een coffeecorner. Dicht bij alles. En hele lieve dame Charlene die ons ontving.
Het bed heeft een lichte kuil, maar als je elkaar lief vindt is dat geen probleem.
Great location, very luxurious rooms very clean and great style
Shame no food and beverage offer on site
Beautiful quirky decor. The host was full of useful information. It was lovely not to have a tv so that we could spend quality time together.
Nothing. It was just perfect
Location was perfect and joining instructions were great
It’s a shame the gin bar is closed , would have been good to have this available
Everything. Such a beautiful boutique.
Disappointing. Multiple issues. We stayed at the hotel during the heatwave. The radiator was turned on and there was no way to turn it off that we knew of. There were also several holes in the bedsheets. We did not expect this for £129 a night. We sent feedback upon leaving, which apparently was forwarded to the owners. We have not received any response since.
Great decor. Very comfortable and clean. Perfect location. Had a great nights sleep
The bathroom door didn’t quite close properly and the toilet flush was very loud.
It’s very quirky, marmite would be a good term. If you want a bath in the middle of the room and are ok with a loo with no door as part of your room it’s a beautifully decorated paradise with loads of charm
Our adult kids found it spooky, many stairs up to the rooms which we were ok with but some may not like. There’s no one on site. It’s more “Rooms” than a hotel, all admin remote, no hotel type facilities
Lovely stay. Character, but comfortable and well maintained rooms, in a great location. Friendly and helpful staff.
Although it didn't affect the enjoyment of our stay, it was a shame the bar downstairs was closed.
the room was large, the bed incredibly comfortable and it was all excellent
I couldn't use the electric sockets by the bed because the bed was in the way and too heavy to move. This is a very very small complaint.
House keeper was very helpful
Location and the ability to park there
Didn’t receive info about self check in Difficult to self check in Poor lighting in hallway /room No windows! “Balcony “ didn’t really help to light room - atmosphere in room depressing Dangerous location of bathroom/toilet - needed extra care due to stairs
Location
No Tv, No ambience - it was just a room with no reception or common areas such as a bar, Only one chair so you could not sit together. No shower just a hand held attachment in the bath. Musty smell on the staircase. decor overall was nice but a curtain hid the wall which had not been spruced up.
Very handy for train station and centre of town. Good curtains blocking out all light.
Fridge in room for milk would have been good
Quirky Central
Unusual and interesting
Very quirky, great sized en-suite and shower. Smallest room at the property but still spacious Loved the decor.
Extremely hot in the room, no fan or cool area for milk or drinks. Minor things that could easily be rectified.
Great little boutique hotel rooms close to ilkley centre
Nothing
Beautiful room and loved all the quirky features helpful host too with a quick response
Quirky, delightful rooms (our group had 3) The location is perfect and not too far from parking. The bathroom in Anne Walker was very spacious.
A disappointment more than not likes - The Gin Lounge is closed.
Great location, wonderful decor, extremely responsive and accommodating host.
Walls are thin .. couple in vicinity making lots of noise into early hours. Would not stay again tbh.
Hmmm
Lovely room, great big bathroom
Sadly the was closed
The closeness to the bus and train station was very good and the town centre.
No sockets next to the bed for charging my phone. No plug in the sink as I use aromatherapy oils to tone.
Location near railway station
Bar closed 🥲
Good location, clean and well decorated,
No warning about steep stairs and open loo in the room,
Great location, the room was beautiful, clean , and had everything we needed.
This is a beautifully presented, comfortable and clean accommodation on theme for an Edwardian / Victorian boudoir. The lady running the place is very enthusiastic and proud of all the little touches.. It is a rare find. We had a top floor room which is fine for us- but bear in mind it is a lot of stairs. There is a roll top bath in the room which is in theme and views over the moors. Toiletries are provided as well as an excellent coffee machine with pods. The location is a few minutes to the station and the high street with all the amenities.
The toilet has a wall to protect dignity but it would be nicer if there was also a door. The bath is lovely and there was plenty of hot water but if you prefer a shower then you might not like it. You can do seated with the hand held shower hose. We were fine- but just pointing out what you might not notice. Unfortunately the Gin Rooms downstairs are now closed which is a shame as we would have liked to have visited them. Also because of this there is no-one to greet you on arrival - just a key box which feels very impersonal for this type of establishment
Beautiful room, tea/coffee, robes, beautiful handwash and shampoo and conditioner
I couldn’t fault property, old but had loads of character/quirky, bed extremely comfortable and bath tub amazing
Loved everything about this place. Such a gorgeous little find.
Charlene greeted us and showed us to our room. The whole building is an eclectic mix of interesting artifacts. The room was spacious, clean and a lovely view. Great coffee machine. Comfy bed and a very quiet stay. Just what we wanted. Less than 5 minutes walk to the Town Centre. Handy for train station. Lots of shops, restaurants and cafés in the town centre too. It was just a shame that Molly's Gin Bar was temporarily closed. Maybe next time as we will be definitely be back at some point.
Nothing
The decor, very quirky, easy instructions for arrival.
No lift, and we were 6 flights of stairs up to our room. Also the downstairs bar was shut until further notice which was very disappointing and not made clear to us prior to booking. Room also very warm, not many windows to open.
Amazing as always. Great location, clean, decor lovely. Repeat stayers and we will be back
We had to leave
Breakfast was not provided. The room was on the top floor, 4th floor. There is no lift. The room wS clean and fairly spacious and the bathroom (shower) was more than adequate although the water took some time to warm up (top floor). Location was perfect for us, theater next door.
Location. Cleanliness. The service from Charlene was exceptional. A fabulous quirky boutique hotel, great facilities, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits all provided, lovely hand and bath soaps etc. Comfy beds with nice linens.
Nothing
Loved the room booked again in July thank you 🙏
Excellent manager, nothing too much trouble. Superb and unusual room, very imaginative and quirky. Clean with thoughtful facilities. Quiet, had an excellent night's rest. Will definitely be referring family and friends.
Nothing, loved it.
No tv
Fantastic room!
Beautiful room 😍 stayed in the Anne Lister. Note this rooms bathroom is open plan
Nothing
It was a con. The hotel has closed down! But they are still renting the rooms. You enter via the basement staircase at the rear. Keys in lockboxes like an Airbnb. I saw no staff during my visit.
My room was up 3 flights of stairs. No room cleaning offered. No fire escape.
Staff were very friendly and helpful
If you don't like stairs be careful what room you book
Fair price for one night. Great location. Quirky hotel with lovely decor.
Parking not great. Gin bar not open. No breakfast, fortunately plenty of choices close by. On checking in there was an incident on the first floor with police and paramedics in attendance and again on the day we checked out more paramedics. Not a nice situation to have to pass on the stairs police taking a man into the back of a car as we were leaving hotel for dinner.
Location
No staff and bar was shut. We specifically booked a hotel with a bar.
Quirky interiors, very comfortable stay.
Nothing
The location was very good
We were not told that the bar would be closed or that there were no staff on site. Had we known this we would have booked another hotel.
The layout and decor of the room (ann lister) was exceptional. Instructions for self check in and the friendly phone conversation worked well.
Nothing
The unique interior style and furnishings, very handy for aminities and transport links,.
This is a genuinely characterful resting place, Good availability for questions over confirming payment and gaining access. Really enjoyed the quirky nature of the room
Slightly temperamental shower, water temperature dropped, but its an old building with extended plumbing. Our choice to try something diferent.
Large bathroom.
No plug in the bath rendering it not usable! Dark rear entrance at night. Gin bar was closed and all spirits emptied from the shelves - clearly been closed for some time and was central to our booking. Yet, not informed. Kettle had to be placed on the floor to boil. Unaware self check in until arrived.
Location is brilliant 2 mins walk to centre. Beautiful room, coffee machine wine glasses, bottle opener, robes, towels, lovely touches. 2nd visit and will definitely return.
Great location, beautiful rooms. Good communication from the staff to explain how to access the rooms.
Great location for exploring Ilkley. Decor was impressive! Thoughtful touches re drinks, toiletries. Bed was v comfortable.
The lack of screen or door to the toilet made things awkward at times. Some plumbing noise from other apartment. Fab, huge windows but curtains didn’t quite keep out the light.
I loved the room, the bath, the bed was so comfortable. I loved the decor and the little touches like the poker table and poker set.
It's not didn't like just what could have improved it. I missed a fridge (I like a cold gin and tonic!) and the windows not opening worried me because the room was hot when I arrived.
Good price, nice rooms and great location!
Only downside was the gin bar was unfortunately closed during our stay. Would have loved to have had a few drinks in there.
Rooms and location perfect
Nothing
Good location, comfortable bed, stylish interior, nice coffee machine.
Beautiful stylish rooms. Excellent location.
Nothing I didn’t like, just unfortunate that the “Gin Lounge” is no longer open ☺️
The room itself was large, too warm when I arrived (easily sorted) and very comfortable
The check in process was apalling. No staff and it was only after several phone calls that I actually got access to my key. I was told this was because I had arrived outside the house keepers hours on Friday. To be clear the house keeper was not at the hotel, but was doing house keeping via her phone. In one conversation with the person who answered the phone at the number on booking.com I was told I wouldnt be able to get in to my room that night as I had arrived too late (20:15) and hadn't paid via the link provided to me in a text message. This was for a couple of reasons, one I was extremely suspicious of paying via a link after the recent cases of booking.com hotel accounts being highjacked by fraudsters, and secondly because I was driving up from Kent, and so couldn't click any links in any case. I was also accused of being rude, which I wasn't at all, I was certainly annoyed due to having been on a long drive only to be told I wouldn't have anywhere to sleep on arriving in Ilkley, but I was not rude.
Large sized room
No shower, no dairy free milk as requested
Everything from start to finish
Nothing to dislike
Good location and as quirky as the photos. Large warm room Tea and coffee facilities Friendly staff when phoned about key jammed
Molly’s bar now closed so check in is virtual. Feels a little unloved overall. Smelt damp in the entrance which was hard to find despite good directions as it is tucked away behind the property Quirky in this case means no door to toilet and basin, no wardrobe , no chest of drawers etc Bed surprisingly small
Stayed on the top floor in Fawcett. Just beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. Had a drink in the bar 🍸 the bar guy was super friendly Location fab Can't wait to return
Nothing i didnt like
The view
Too much money for no breakfast, and the bath/ shower look good but not practical for the stay
Loved ease of access and proximity to centre. Loved the quirkiness and decoration attention to detail. Loved the bath.
No door on the toilet/ bathroom.
A quirky and interesting room which we enjoyed staying in.
