Great place, great people, really calm. Really near everything too, had a great time :)
It was quiet and clean
There was A LOT to like about Sinag Hostel. Although the facilities (more than spacious private lockers, AC, temperature-controlled showers, community events, and the multitude of other amenities like the snack bar, moped rental, surf school) were amazing for the price point, the staff/volunteers were by far my favorite aspect of Sinag Hostel. The memories I shared with the people at Sinag Hostel were by far the highlight of my Philippines trip. Huge thanks to everyone who made Sinag what it is today, and I can highly recommend it for your next stay in Siargao.
Personally, there wasn't anything to dislike about Sinag Hostel during my stay. However, it might be good to know for some individuals that there are animals (who are extremely reserved) on the property, as well as members of the community who utilize Sinag as a place for recreational activities occasionally.
The staff are AMAZING. You will never meet more beautiful and friendly people in the entire world. All of the employees and volunteers are so lovely and hospitable, you won’t ever want to leave the hostel and cafe.
Nothing. I loved it all!
The place was amazing. The staff were really nice, place was clean including the showers/toilets, location is close to key surf breaks, and it has great wifi!
Zero complaints
Laid back location and quiet place.
The facilities are a bit old, and the bathroom in my room had an unpleasant smell. However, the staff were very accommodating and kindly offered me another room.
Leuk hostel, met vriendelijk personeel en een hele goede locatie! We hebben ons zeer vermaakt!
Had the best time, chill and social hostel. Especially the wednesdays family dinners are so fun!!
The Creative Aesthetic: The hostel beautifully lives up to its name (Sinag meaning ray of light). It is bright, beautifully designed, and infused with artistic touches that give it so much soul and character. It’s an absolute dream for anyone who loves good design and a high-vibe environment. The Community & Energy: The atmosphere here is unmatched. It strikes the perfect balance between social and laid-back. Whether you want to swap stories with fellow travelers over morning coffee or find a cozy, inspiring corner to unwind, the spaces are thoughtfully designed for both deep connection and personal comfort. The Heart-Centered Hospitality: The team here is the real magic. They go above and beyond to make sure every guest feels seen, welcomed, and taken care of. They don't just offer accommodations; they curate an inclusive, family-like experience and share the best insider local tips.
I was told Sinag is the Tagalog word for the first ray of light in the morning, a fitting name considering the number of sunrises you will probably watch during your time here. Whether it’s surfing or socialising you’re here for, this hostel has it all and more. The people make this place what it is, I felt so welcomed from day 1 and there wasn’t a single day I surfed alone. The party is kept away from the hostel and there’s so many cool people with cool things to show you.
Very friendly and welcoming community - a really great spot for solo travelers looking to surf and make friends
Best hostel ever ever EVER if you’re a solo traveller! Everyone, from guests to owners to volunteers, is so friendly and instantly makes you feel welcome. It’s super easy to make friends, especially thanks to the weekly Wednesday family dinners, and there’s a group chat where people post activities anyone can join in. The hostel offers scooter rentals and surf lessons, and it’s in a really good location, outside the chaos of General Luna but still near shops/restaurants within walking distance. Dorms are comfortable with aircon/fans, the showers/toilets are clean and there’s some nice communal spaces to chill. Can’t recommend this place and the Sinag family enough !
This is the best hostel in Siargao, what a hostel should be at least, the friendliest staff ever happy to help you any time, very sociable and comfy beds! Felt like home from the first day!
Location is good if you rent a bike, you can park it outside for free. Jerr is absolutely amazing!! They have cool group activities and a WhatsApp group where you can bond with people :)
I booked this accommodation specifically because of the Starlink WiFi reviews. Unfortunately it broke a couple of days before I arrived and they weren’t able to fix it during my stay. There was one lady at the reception who was extremely nice and offered to introduce me to a friend of hers that lived a couple of houses away. He was so sweet to welcome me in his home and allow me to cowork with him. The shower kept falling while I was using it, and it randomly decided when the water was going to have extreme pressure and when it wasn’t. Also the temperature of the water was random. Either I burned myself of it was ice cold. This make me took forever to shower when I usually only take 10mins or less. My private room door was facing the upstairs common area and there was a little girl there shouting and watching videos at a very high volume from early in the morning. It overall didn’t feel very clean.
The most social hostel I’ve stayed at without it being too party the staff are soooo friendly and helpful I kept extending
Nothing
Loved my stay at Sinag so much that I returned to it for my last few days in Siargao. From the minute I arrived, I was made to feel like part of the family with everyone being so warm and welcoming. They even let me move beds to a lower bunk a day after I arrived as I was staying longer. Special shout out to Nancy and Gelyn who were lovely and hilarious! Will be coming back for sure!
The staff at Sinag were incredibly helpful and friendly! They helped to make sure we had the best stay possible :)
Staff are so lovely and inviting, atmosphere of the hostel is really social and the location is perfect for siargao :)
I arrived after a skate accident and eeeeveryone at Sinag helped me with everything they could! Thanks a lot!
Minutes from cloud nine and had lots of cafes around. I had food poisoning (not from the hostel) and they moved me to a private room! Family dinners which are super nice
The staff — the owner and everyone else were incredibly friendly and welcoming.
The hostel was very noisy at all hours, and the dorm bathroom was extremely dirty. Later, the AC broke and the room smelled so bad I couldn’t sleep. Cleaning could be more thorough. I ended up leaving after the first night. Although the owner agreed to refund the remaining three nights, I still haven’t received it.
De ligging en het personeel
Hard honden geblaf
The staff, guests and the owner!🫶
The atmosphere is really nice. It’s like a big family, everyone is super welcoming ! The hosts, volunteers and the other guests also :)
I loved everything !
Sinag Hostel was a lovely place to stay. The night I arrived we had a family dinner so it was really nice to meet the staff and guests. It’s also in a good location, super close to Cloud 9 and Catangan Bridge. When I come back to Siargao, I will be staying here again !
N/A
I love how the staff took care of me and specially the family vibe of the hostel.
None! Everything is what I expected
The most travelers friendly I've ever been to. Shared WhatsApp group, great wifi.
friendly staff, inexpensive, private rooms
private room was really small, barely any social atmosphere, far from general luna
J’ai passé un super moment à l’auberge Sinag, très bonne ambiance, le staff et les volontaires sont au top, la localisation est très bien. Il y a également un café et des leçons de surf !
I absolutely loved my stay at Sinag Hostel! The staff were incredibly helpful, always with the best attitude and positive energy. The activities they organized were super fun and made it really easy to meet people. It truly felt like a big family rather than just a hostel. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay and would 100% come back. Highly recommended!
Very nice and cozy hostel with friendly staff and a great snack bar where you can find awesome coffee and food ;-)
El personal fue lo mejor. Los chicos organizan para ir a surfear todos los días según la marea y te llevan a spots espectaculares. Me encantó el ambiente y las habitaciones son espaciosas
Adeng
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately the overall facilities/cleanliness didn’t feel amazing. We were kept up all throughout the night as the hostel has 3 dogs which slept on the same floor as us and barked all throughout the night. Our walls were not solid so we could hear everything. The ceiling also leaked a little bit when it rained. It would be good too if there were bins in the room and bedside lighting. The bathrooms could be improved.
Staying in Sinag hostel is such a lovely experience!! I came here on my first solo travelling trip, and immediately had friends to show me around, hang out, surf and eat dinner and play secret hitler with. All the staff are so lovely and friendly, the neighbouring hostel Ozen freedive are the same and everyone is just so welcoming. I could spend a month or more with the Sinag fam, and I hope to come back and visit soon.
There was nothing that I didn’t enjoy about my stay, but do not be disappointed if the facilities are not a five star hotel as some people are. It is simple but clean and comfortable and has everything you need. You come for the vibes!!
I was staying at the Sinag hostel for only two nights but even though my stay was short it was amazing. From the moment you step inside you are warmly welcomed by Jessy or one other staff that works there. The rooms are big, very comfy and clean I stayed in a 4 bedroom AC room. But the best part of the hostel are not the rooms but the people that you meet in common rooms. Mix off people that work there, guests and random people from the town/other hostels. In no time you spend your free time together playing board games, going out for dinners, parties or surfing. They also have a Snack bar with delicious coffee and food. If you search for a social hostel Sinag is definitely the place to go. It's a place you come for a few days but want to extend for months.
I stayed here for almost a week and honestly didn’t want to leave. The staff are super friendly and always ready to help with anything. The facilities are clean and well-maintained, the WiFi is stable, and it’s really easy to rent a motorcycle right from the hostel. They have lockers for extra security.
The stuff are amazing! The room was clean and comfortable. The location is perfect, quite and cozy. There are good vibes and family-like atmosphere. Thats exactly what I was looking for as a solo traveler.
I liked everything.
Molto accogliente ottimo per lavorare al pc
La ubicación
El trato del personal
Le personnel était super sympa et attentif! Chambre propre.
Chill hostel close to restaurants and Cloud 9 surf spot. Staff are great and super friendly. They organise lots of social events each week. Definitely recommend.
Nothing
Hostel mit Hostelcharakter
There's 3 dogs barking 24/7, the rooms aren't noise proof or anything similar. Even with earplugs the dogs will wake you up every 3 minutes. I had 2 nights of awful sleep in the private rooms.
Sinag is a social, familiar and welcoming hostel that makes you feel part of a family since day 1. A lot of activities, hostel theme nights and a surf school all very accessible through the hostel.
Sinag is like Family! The vibe is amazing, the staff is incredibly welcoming and friendly. They have a WhatsApp group for everyone to make plans. They go surfing pretty much everyday. I had an amazing time and would definitely stay here again. Everything is clean and comfortable. Just make sure you are comfortable around dogs as they have three. The location is great, you can walk to cloud 9 and have a few restaurants and cafes around and they also have their own cafe with amazing staff and food onsite. If you are looking for a relaxed family vibe, this is the place! The starlink wifi is great in the common area. It doesn't work in the room but I was able to do my remote work without any problems from the common area.
Best hostel I’ve ever stayed at. Super nice people, a loving family vibe. The surf school is also amazing and good price, make sure you book as long as you can because it fills up quickly.
This is my fifth trip to Siargao, and Sinag Hostel has consistently felt like my home away from home. It's perfectly located—just a few minutes walk to the famous Afam Bridge and Cloud 9. But the best part? Hands down, it's the snack bar! They serve incredibly delicious food, and it has vegan options. And let's not forget the staff—they are incredibly friendly and amazing, always ready with a smile and helpful advice. What I also love is the Wednesday night family dinner. It's a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow travelers and make new friends. The food is always delicious, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Beyond the location and the community, the hostel itself is clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. I highly recommend Sinag Hostel to anyone visiting Siargao!
The best thing about this hostel is definitely the vibe and staff. Everyone makes you feel very welcome, shoutout to Lily. Not too rowdy, but social with enough people wanting to meet up.
If I can name one thing its that the rooms sound isolation isnt great and there's a lot of construction and other noise close by. Earplugs might help
I came for A surfing vacation in Siargao SInag Hostel is the perfect place as a home base Clean , Friendly host and great value for money I enjoyed the place so much I came back after a few weeks for a second stay
Nothing :)
Sinag Hostel felt like home from the moment I arrived! My favorite thing about Sinag is the people—both the staff and fellow travelers. The staff are the kindest, most welcoming people—they don’t just run the place, they make sure you feel like part of the family. They’re always happy to help and chat. Whether it’s the Wednesday family dinners, group trips, or just hanging out in the huge common areas, there’s always something happening that makes it easy to connect with others. The internet is super fast, which was perfect for me as a remote worker. My private room was really clean, and they have a kitchen where you can cook your own meals. They also offer laundry services, surf lessons, and different tours, making it easy to experience everything Siargao has to offer. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I visit Siargao!
Nothing!!
There were nice common areas to hang out & there was a big kitchen which was nice. The hostel was chill and nearby Cloud 9 and multiple restaurants.
It is quite expensive for what you get. The double room we booked was very small. It is also very noisy, you can hear everything from other rooms & outside. The dogs were also loud during the night. Also, it would be very nice to have some hand soap in the double room too! 😄
Very chill hostel, very helpful staff.
Sinag hostel got this "home-like vibe" Staff are nice, helpful, and very approachable. You can arrange your tours, motorcycle rental, surfing lessons, and airport transfers. I am a first-time solo traveller.
Sinag is family! It‘s my second time in Siargao and of course I had to go back to Sinag. The staff is incredibly welcoming and makes you feel right at home. They have regular events such as boat trips and family dinner and they offer surf lessons as well. It‘s super easy to socialize because everyone hangs out in the common area. One of the best hostels I stayed at in Asia!
This is the best hostel on the island. It’s social but not a party hostel. It’s easy to get too and it’s a little outside the crazy of general Luna. The staff is so nice, helpful, will organize surf for you. EVERYONE extends at this hostel so just be warned 😂 the beds were comfortable with a light, outlet and curtains. The showers/bathrooms were great. You can get to many surf spots easily from here. The WiFi is very very good. This place is such a good vibe. Book here you will not regret it. My favorite hostel in the Philippines
Nothing, it’s perfect
If you want to stay in a place with a very friendly atmosphere and feel the local culture up close, this is the place for you. In addition, the staff is always available for any questions or needs.
I'm so gratefull . I have nothing to complaing.
Best Hostel of My 4-Week Trip!* 🌟 I can honestly say this was the best hostel I stayed at during my entire 4-week trip. From the moment I arrived, I knew I was in for a great experience. It's so easy to meet awesome people here – whether you're looking to hang out or just chat, there's a really cool, laid-back vibe. But what really stood out to me was how much of a *perfect balance* this place strikes between socializing and having a quiet space to retreat to when you need it. There’s always something going on if you want to join in, but if you're feeling like a chill night in, you’ve got that too. A special shoutout to the staff, especially Jerr– this guy is a legend! He made all feel like part of the family from day one, and within minutes, I had made some amazing connections. He’s incredibly welcoming and knows how to make everyone feel at home. If you're looking for a place that feels like home while also offering endless opportunities to meet great people, this is it. I couldn’t recommend it more! 🙌 If you look for a hostel like mentioned above - click the book button now! 🫶
Lovely chilled hostel with very friendly staff. Good spaces to chill out and chat to people. Joined the family dinner (we brought some veggies and cooked them up) which was a great way to meet others in the hostel and set us up for the rest of our stay knowing some lovely lovely people (staff and guests and friends). Some nights are very quiet, calm and chill and others were great fun having a drinks with everyone at the hostel and heading out. One of my favourite places we have stayed in the Philippines as we met a bunch of excellent people here.
Only negative was the bathroom in our dorm was a bit grim, but all the communal toilets and showers downstairs were fine so we just used those instead :)
Clean kitchen and nice couch
So many dogs which were barking all the time INSIDE the hostel. The beds were clean, but the mattress was very old and thus uncomfortable. The bathroom was not very clean…
Great atmosphere with great communal area. The staff are so lovely and super helpful. I originally was going to stay for 3 nights and move somewhere else but decided to extend my stay here for another 3 nights. They have loads of activities and will sort everything out for you. There is a kitchen which is the cleanest I’ve seen since traveling and your own box is provided for your food if you choose to use the kitchen. The rooms are a good size and the bathrooms are clean.
Couldn’t use the WiFi in the room and the water doesn’t drain away after having a shower so every time you go in the bathroom you get wet feet. These are just little things, otherwise it’s a great place to stay.
Everything - one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in all my travels. It’s not fancy or luxury like some other hostels, but the vibe is amazing, location perfect and it has everything you need. It’s very clean, it has a kitchen and fridge you can use (I cooked myself breakfast every morning), small restaurant next door if you want, really good AC in the bedrooms, comfy beds with curtains, working showers and toilets, good chill spaces. I could store my surfboard safely there, and they helped me rent a bike for a reasonable price. The location is also perfect, 5-10mins bike ride from the touristy part of town. Really close to Cloud 9 (10 mins walk) and ideal location to get to different surf spots. But most importantly, everyone that works there is amazing, and it’s perfect for meeting people. It felt like I was part of a big family. Everyone makes an effort to get to know you, and it’s really easy to meet other travellers, perfect for solo travellers. They organise activities like sunset viewpoints, family dinner, etc. and you can join nights out if you want. We had a big birthday dinner in town for Vanessa when I was there which was so nice.
Nothing
Nice place with a kitchen and two areas to hang/meet people. Comfi beds, cold showers, fans at your bed . I would recommend it.
Nothing
Welcoming hostel with really enjoyable vibes. The common areas are amazing for chill. The bed are comfortable and room with bunkbed is big and super clean. Toilet and shower are essential but clean. There is also a kitchen, that is perfect to cook a meal and not need always to go out for food. People in the hostel are great, always ready to help you and give you any advice. There is also a surf club where you can enjoy lessons or just the company to go catch some waves. Good position also, really close to the populare cloud 9 with nice restaurants and cafe around.
We felt welcomed as soon as we walked in! We spend Christmas and new year, felt like a big family. Thank you to all the staff, they are amazing! We had a blast at Sinag, we’ll definitely come back.
Maybe the showers and toilets, very very basics
If you like Karaoke at all hours, even after a very long trip to get here, you’re in the right place. Otherwise, I suggest you find a different hostel. Walls are paper thin, yet the staff sing their Karaoke songs with a microphone and speakers. To be fair, Siargao was the first leg of our trip. We soon found out the rest of the Philippines is also into Karaoke. Safe travels everyone!
- the stuff was fantastic - very good vibes
- the dogs were very loud and all over all the time. Didn’t feel safe and it common areas were dirtier because they were sitting around the coaches all the time. - the room was very humid , difficult to breathe. I wasn’t comfy two weeks in that room…The price for the room was too high for the room conditions from my point of view ….
Guests....
In this case, I am not going to leave my opinion about the stay at this establishment. At the last moment I was called a liar, for not leaving my deposit on the day of arrival and therefore not having the right to its return. In any case, I would like to highlight the other travelers with whom I shared the stay, they were family those days in Siargao. Now I am just trying not to arrive late and miss my flight on a Transfer ordered here and which arrives 1:40 late.
The staff were really friendly and it's really close to general luna. Only stayed 2 nights, but it seemed very sociable and fun.
Guys..I can’t recommend here enough! It was honestly the best hostel i’ve ever stayed in.Everyone was extremely welcoming from the very first minute ı’ve arrived. The vibe is the best, the rooms are comfortable and clean, lovely staff..And the family dinners with kareoke!!They have a common area which you can just hangout or work remotely and it makes here perfect for staying long term(most of the guests extending their stay for several times hahah)Feeling so lucky to be a part of this family<3
