Outstanding food, extremely friendly staff.

The wellness area is comparably small and a bit spread out on several floors of the hotel.

We spent a week at this beautiful hotel and loved every aspect of it from the location, view, atmosphere, rooms and above all the food and service. The pool was also fantastic given the Austrian heatwave. Thanks to Dominik and Rebekka who looked after us in the restaurant every day. Super service.

Its our 3rd summer vacation here and already thinking of booking our 4th stay for next summer. This place & location, cuisine, activities & sports opportunities available are all perfect. Thank you for making our stay unforgetable once again.

A very nice hotel in an area of spectacular scenery. The hotel is beautifully appointed with lovey views from the rooms. The three level spa with a rooftop infinity pool is one of the nicest I have experienced The gym is small but adequate The food really is of top quality with a gourmet menu served each evening. Adults are seated in a separate dining area from families. Very minor criticisms-the spa closes at 7 pm which is a little early , & tap water is charged for, which seems unnecessary in such a high end hotel.

Some clear positives: staff are all terrific, the design of the whole place is beautiful and classy, the bar area was great, Maria alm is a great summer location, so pretty, calm with great walking, and a lovely spa area and pool. Breakfast also great. Providing hiking backpacks in the rooms was a super touch. On the negative side our room was advertised as a cosy room and was certainly very small, with a view of the car park which was uninspiring in a place of such beauty. No minibar seems slightly unusual too. A bigger issue is that there is no air-conditioning and sadly with global warming it was hot for three of the nights we were there and not all easy to sleep. Meanwhile drawing the curtains to manage heat is a partial way forward but sad to do in such a beautiful location, notwithstanding our grim view. The dinners are also, sorry to say, not good. The kitchen aims to deliver a multi course gourmet experience . In reality the menu planning tries far too hard to be inventive and comes up with far too many unfortunate combinations. Portions are also very small as a multi course offering. So on the rare occasions that the dishes worked, the portions were too small; most of the time the whacky combinations were in reality too large portions. They did offer a basic alternative menu and when we went there, the steaks and schnitzels were great albeit for a supplement. We have no problem with fine dining and gourmet cuisine and eat is quite often at home and around the world. This is just poorly executed fine dining. We also think there is too much piped music throughout the property. There is music played almost everywhere when part of the joy of visiting the mountains in summer is for the beautiful calm.. and the music being played is also a stream of dull middle of the road covers. Finally, TripAdvisor showed at the time of booking and indeed writing, the place having a table tennis table. This was a key draw for us. It doesn't. The staff showed us the air hockey and baby football but both these are kids versions and not fun for adults or teens.

Frühstück war in Ordnung - Wurstwaren allerdings etwas weniger frisch. Zimmer haben keinen direkten Bergblick. Pool und Spaanlagen sind dagegen traumhaft.

Es gibt nichts zu beanstanden. Wir waren ausnahmslos zufrieden und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Sehr sauber und komfortabel, ausgesprochen freundliches Personal, exzellentes Essen, gute Weinberatung, gute Lage, Traumblick in die Landschaft. Gutes Klientel. Sehr gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Geräumiger Ski- und Fahrradkeller.

Wir haben nichts zu bemängeln!

I stayed at Die Hochkönigin in Maria Alm for a week in August 2025 and it was outstanding. The staff are professional and at the same time very friendly. Nothing ever felt forced, just natural and genuine. The design is beautiful, modern but still warm, and the rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The views of the Alps are incredible. You find yourself stopping just to take it all in. The spa is excellent and I really liked how it is set up with separate family areas and adult only zones so it never feels crowded or noisy. What really made the stay special was the Hörl family who run the hotel. Their hospitality gives the place a real sense of community. You do not feel like a customer but more like a family friend who has been invited to stay. It is a world class hotel. I cannot wait to return in winter and experience it in a different season.

„Wir hatten einen gemischten, aber insgesamt entspannenden Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel. Die Ankunft und der Empfang waren erstklassig, man fühlte sich sofort willkommen. Das Highlight war zweifellos der Spa- und Poolbereich, der keine Wünsche offenließ – wirklich ein Traum zum Entspannen. Die Speisen waren durchweg sehr gut, ein großes Lob an die Küche.

Leider wurde das kulinarische Erlebnis durch die Räumlichkeiten im Restaurant getrübt, die viel zu warm waren, was das Abendessen anstrengend machte. Der größte Kritikpunkt betrifft jedoch den Service. Während die Rezeption super war, gab es im Restaurant und abends auf der Terrasse erhebliche Mängel. Der Service wirkte oft lustlos, unaufmerksam und unprofessionell. Es fiel auf, dass der Restaurantleiter eine sehr unsympathische und arrogante Art an den Tag legte, die sich anscheinend auf das gesamte Team überträgt oder scheinbar Dienst nach Vorschrift hervorruft. Besonders am Abend auf der Terrasse empfanden wir den Service mangelhaft. Das Zimmer war in Ordnung, hatte aber keine Klimaanlage. Bei geöffnetem Fenster war der Lärm von der Hauptstraße unschön. Ein weiterer Minuspunkt war die sehr kleine Toilette. Zusammenfassend lässt sich sagen, dass das Hotel ein großartiges Potenzial hat, insbesondere durch den tollen Spa-Bereich und die gute Küche. Jedoch müssen der Service und das Klima im Restaurant dringend verbessert werden, um den Preis zu rechtfertigen.“ Tipp ans Hotel : lieber Sein als Schein

We stayed at this hotel for a family getaway and overall had a very relaxing experience. The location is simply stunning, with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Even though it rained throughout our entire stay, the scenery was still beautiful, and the hotel provided a Sommer Card for activities in the Hochkönig area—which would have been fantastic had the weather cooperated. The amenities are perfect for families with children of all ages. Our kids loved the play areas, and the family spa was a wonderful touch, offering a chance to unwind together. Everything felt well thought-out for parents and children alike. The only downside was the dining arrangement. At the restaurant, guests are assigned a specific table and must sit there for the entire stay. Unfortunately, we didn’t like our table and politely asked the waiter if we could switch, but were told it wasn’t possible. This policy felt unnecessarily rigid, especially for a hotel that otherwise feels so welcoming and accommodating. Overall, this is a beautiful, family-oriented hotel with excellent amenities and incredible mountain views. If the restaurant seating policy were more flexible, it would have been more enjoyable.

Diese Unterkunft ist wirklich etwas Besonderes und hat unseren Urlaub unvergesslich gemacht. Schon beim Check-in an der Rezeption waren wir von einem Wow-Effekt begeistert. Das Zimmer, die Sauberkeit und die Freundlichkeit des Personals waren erstklassig. Ich schätze es, wenn ein Hotel und seine Betreiber eine Geschichte erzählen können, und genau das spürt man hier. Die harte Arbeit, die in dieses Hotel gesteckt wird, macht es einzigartig.

The hotel location is great for hikes and access to stunning mountains, lakes and nearby towns. The rooms are comfortable and cozy. The spa infinity pools offer breathtaking views. The food was fantastic, great variety and locally sourced. The staff were very professional, approachable and friendly.

We loved this property. The service from staff was exceptional especially Sebastian and Christina at front desk and Marin at the bar. The 6 course tasting menu was good, but at times I felt they were trying just a little too hard. The location of the property is wonderful and we loved all of the amenities. Special thanks to Sebastian who was so very helpful to us during our stay. We enjoyed taking advantage of the unlimited use cable car and bus card, which is a very nice perk. Thank you to everyone!

No aircondition. So in summer it is very hot in the rooms. And the hotel is near the street.

Essen, Lage und Design sind TOP. Für Familien nicht wirklich spannend. Schwimmen und SPA nur bis 19:00 Uhr, danach wird man sehr unschön gebeten "mal fertig zu machen". Zwischendrin ist der Pool aber auch gerne mal geschlossen oder die Sauna nur mit vorheriger Anmeldung beheizt. Anstrengend dem ganzen zu folgen. Familienpool hat eher die Größe eines Planschbeckens, es gibt auch keine Rutsche o.Ä.. Kaum Angebot über Ostern kein Programm und am Ostermontag schließt das Hotel, so dass man um 14:00 Uhr spätestens das Hotel verlassen muss. Das wird einem aber vorab natürlich nicht gesagt. Der Kids CLUB ist leider kein Club, sondern nur ein Spielzimmer, die Fun Arena ist nett, aber das war's dann auch. Man argumentiert damit, dass man ein familienfreundliches Hotel ist und kein Familienhotel.

Excellent hotel, very cleaned and confortable! The location is stunning. The hotel is in a small village at the bottom of a beautiful mountain which is right in front of the it. The view from the pool, on the top floor, is wonderful. Friendly staff and delicious food. 🤩 we would like to come back soon

4-star hotel with beautiful, clean rooms and a stunning view.

We truly enjoyed our stay - from the moment we arrived and were warmly greeted by the team until the moment we sadly had to leave. My mother and I spent 9 days at this gorgeous hotel and loved every single bit of it - spacious and beautiful Sky Suite, delicious food, great massages at the spa, relaxing at the pool and of course the view. The view is absolutely out of this world and we could spend hours at the terrace overlooking the mountains. And last but not least I need to mention impeccable service, kindness and warm attention from hotel team - everyone was very welcoming and kind and pit a lot of efforts into making each guests stay really memorable. It was my second stay already at the resort and I will definitely be back. Thank you!

Food is included but it was way too salty. donno why for some room types the balcony is shared. Feel very uncomfortable with shared balcony. donno why our room is super hot in evening, no A/C...

Since the moment we arrived, everything has been outstanding. The building is designed with attention to detail and built with high-quality materials; the spa is spacious, impeccably maintained, and the adults-only section was a big plus for us; the view from the outdoor infinity pool and hot tub is picture-perfect. One can feel that every detail of the service has been thought through as well. We enjoyed all the little personal touches - from someone coming by our table every evening to greet us and ask how our stay is going, to the waiter remembering our names and what we ordered last time, to a note left in our room with our housekeepers name, inviting us to share anything we want done differently in our room. The breakfast buffet choice is endless, with a focus on fresh and local products (best bread selection I have ever seen, and the meats and cheeses deserve a mention, too); every evening we thought the dinner could not be better, and the next evening it was somehow better - my compliments to the chef and the kitchen team. It is not often that one finds this level of excellence in hospitality.

size of the WC is very small. Restroom and bedroom has the same light swithch circle. If you swithch on the light in the restroom, the whole bedroom is fludlight :) We missed coffee in the room as well.

Without any doubt, one of the best hotels I have ever been to. Everything was beyond our expectations from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. Too bad our visit was too short but I will definitely come back. The wellness area is very clean, the water in the outdoor infinty pool and jacuzzi is very clean and have perfect temperature. And the view?....Oh what an incredible view, I can live there forever :). The service is on a top level, very friendly staff. The lounge area is very comfy and the cocktail are delicious. Big thanks to the barman Marin who did for us amazing cocktails the whole evening. Free parking place on the spot, incredible breakfast, A highly recommended place and I am looking forward to come back again when everything around is covered with snow :)

Das Ambiente des Hotels und die Freundlichkeit des Personals sind einfach einzigartig. Auch die Lage des Hotel mit Blick auf die Berge ist nicht zu übertreffen. Wir sind sehr begeistert und können das Hotel nur jedem empfehlen. Auch das Essen hat uns extrem positiv überrascht. Wir haben nicht ein solch liebevoll zubereitetes Abendessen und Frühstücksbuffet erwartet.
