Comfortable and clean . Welcome pack was much appreciated. Well heated.. Surprisingly spacious.
No it was lovely
Sunset Chalet is an amazing place to stay! The location is close to cafes, restaurants, and a great spot to begin your hike. The hosts are friendly and were responsive to all our enquiries. The Chalet is fitted out with everything that you could possibly need and more!
Cleanliness & every minute details of the house!
Electric stove took sometimes longer to turn on!
Cosy, comfortable and cute. Walking distance to the village.
Wifi訊號很弱,幾乎連不上
Such an outstanding property. Small cosy and very well put together indeed. Very responsive owners Great location
Perhaps a shovel could be kept on the premises as a back up in case of heavy snowfall....to clear the road for the car
Clean and had all Amenities
The instruction folder was a bit cold and unwelcoming- with instructions like “unfortunate house rules”. The privacy of the bathroom was compromised by the blinds having inadequate cover of the upper clear glass window into the shower area. This needs to be rectified asap!
Excellent location, comfortable, small and cosy unit a short walk from the township, Church of the Good Shepherd and waterfront. Lovely local walks up the hill behind with amazing views.
The unit is quite small. It is well equipped for its size and the space is well used. There is only a bar fridge and limited space for suitcases etc.
Comfortable, well appointed, easy walk to the lake & village. Some nice touches, like fresh flowers, chocolate treats and a small bottle of wine.
A bit smaller than we expected, but all the necessary ammenities & we were out and about anyway
It was a beautiful one bedroom cottage . Very cosy and nice.
Proximity to town, it was cosy, just nice for us… great stay… the little things mattered, the chocs, little bottle of bubbles… really nice space.
Couldn’t find ice trays Otherwise it was perfect.
Beautiful chalet nice clean and warm. Bed was so comfy.
We liked the cabin, it was well equipped. Bed was comfortable, nice bedding and towels. Quiet location.
No privacy. Guests from neighbouring rental property (20 metres) and people using the public footpath (30 metres) away could see into the cabin bedroom. There is a street light directly outside the property that stays on all night, so any dedicated star gazers should take this into consideration.
Everything. Highly reccomended. Fully equped kitchen.

Gr8 location. Very cozy and comfortable.
All good.
Lovely chalet in a beautiful area. Great location! Loved reading about the owners. We are from Canada so it was interesting to read that the owners have a Canadian connection
Lovely chalet, very peaceful
Little dusty and crowded with additional decor
We loved the location of the property and although we didn’t have a view of the lake from our deck it was a peaceful area and we could walk from our yard to the trail to go right into town the Church. The unit itself was very nicely appointed. The shower was awesome. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

The chalet was absolutely stunning, we walked in and were immediately impressed with the room and how cosy it felt. The main room had two armchairs and a table which were very comfortable to sit in, in the evening with a hot chocolate. There was also the bed (again very comfortable with very clean linen) and kitchenette. The kitchenette had a stovetop, refrigerator and bar stool seating area. There was plenty of kitchenware which suited our needs and which we were able to use to enjoy a cooked meal. The bathroom was excellent, the shower had great water pressure and hot water, the toiletries provided were also great! The location was perfect, a short walk took us directly to the Lake and to the Church of the Good Shepherd and just a bit further was a 4 square. We used the chalet as a base to explore the Mount Cook National Park which was absolutely the perfect decision as the drive from the chalet was relatively short and also allowed us to see the sights on the way. The owners had helpfully provided a brochure about walks in the Mount Cook area as well.
Our only regret was not staying longer, if we ever came back to the South Island of New Zealand we would definitely stay at the Sunset Chalet again! I would say if you are travelling in a larger group than a couple the other property maintained by the owners may be a better fit, it's on the same site and looked great too!
Wonderful chalet and the heat pump was on when we arrived which is very considerate in winter. Likewise the heater in the bathroom meant the whole place was toasty. We liked that there was an actual table and chairs to eat at, as well as a bench area with bar stools. They have fit a lot in to a good sized space. Perfect for a couples get away or of passing through Lake Tekapo.
great location easy walk to town very comfortable bed and very warm chalet
It was in a great position easy walk to town
That the chalet was all warmed up for us when we got there and it was just lovely
the best place we had stayed in during our nz trip - exceptionally comfortable, and Marie and Peter were very responsive and helpful! would definitely stay here again
Great little tidy chalet with all you need! Excellent location for walking to shops or lake
Nothing it was exactly as advertised
We liked the location, the views, the cozy cabin, the welcoming informative binder and wine & cookies were a thoughtful touch, too!
The floors were a bit chilly as it’s winter, but a heater was provided. Overall, a great stay!
Nice little spot by the river, only a short walk to the village centre.
I didn’t have anything to dislike.
Located in the high streets give the cottage sunset views across the lawn and common walkway from the main road. Very comfortable bed, pillows and linen and ample kitchenette for breakfast toast and cereal. Owners added an oil heater on day 2 as we found the airconditioning heating not being able to take the chill from the room. Much appreciated for the extra effort to do this by the owners who live out of town. Great shower and toilet area heated for winter and everything you could need. 1km from the main shops and supermarket and in warmer weather it would be a nice walk. Plenty of options in Lake Tekapo at the $250 night rate and this place as our second visit to the area was nice for privacy compared to previous multi unit 5-Star B&B we stayed at.
No long life milk for tea or coffee, so popped to shops to look after our needs for two days. The self satchel latte with hot water is good.
A bit cool
Location - Great location to explore Lake Tekapo, Mount Cook and surrounding areas Hosts - very helpful and kind. They were willing to meet me halfway on a very late request from me. They did not have to do this. Chalet - very nice and cozy. High quality items provided in the chalet If I go back to Lake Tekapo, Sunset Chalet will be my first choice.
Wifi is not strong and it took my phone some time to detect the network.
The property is neat and nice but we didn’t get to stay.
The power gets overloaded easily that is we cannot on the hob together with the heater. We checked in around 3 pm and was preparing snack when the power went off. The host got someone to come down and check (this was like after an hour)! The power switch board is in another unit and was inform by the host that we cannot on the hob and heater together. We were worried and asked what happened the power goes off in the middle of the night ! The host wasn’t very friendly and helpful. Finally we decided to move to another place.
Clean and comfortable
Good location
Everything was exceptional. Most comfortable bed, best shower, cosy atmosphere. Provisions left to cook for yourself. The hosts Marie & Peter have left nothing wanting.
Was close to town you can walk, very comfortable and clean. Highly recommend.
Nothing that we didn’t like, just suggestions, it be great to have a sheer curtain on the sliding door that can still let light in but provide some privacy from the neighbours and those on the walking track. Bigger fridge would be great for those staying more than a night.
Everything.

Amazing chalet, that was very well equipped with everything you might need. Lovely deck area to sit and watch the stars. Plenty of spare towels and hot water. Very quiet and peaceful. Easy walk to centre of Lake Takepo alongside the river.
Shared garden area with next door. Would have been nice to have a larger seating area in the garden to have been able to admire the lake.
Quiet, reasonablely well appointed. Milk and wine thoughtful.
No tea or coffee. BBQ was dirty, had to clean it before we were able to use it. Veranda had not been swept.
Very comfortable and homely. Welcomed with chocolates and wine. Short walk to shops and lake. Nice personal touches.
We had the best 3 nights at Sunset chalet, perfect walking distance into the centre around 8 min walk. Very homely. Perfect for 2 people. Lovely little touches all throughout the chalet. We loved the outdoor area for a drink and eating our homemade meals. I would 100% stay here again if I was in this area. The air con was good if it got too hot, but it stayed nice and cool even without the aircon in the heat. Private parking on the driveway. Great value for money.
Nothing. All perfect
The location, the comfort of the bed, the peacefulness, the view, the shower, the decor, the black out curtains etc preventing the early morning sun from an early awakening,
We were there on a couple of warm sunny days and would have liked to sit on the veranda in the late afternoon/early evening. However, it was impossible as it was far too hot to sit in the sun and no shade is provided. We did need some storage - for clothes, provisions and toiletries..
Very well equipped, self contained, private, and very warm and comfortable. Had a very homely feel and was a well thought-out space.
No notes.
I loved this cabin!!! Super cute and beautiful, cozy and comfy, the kitchen has all the appliances, the bed is comfortable and the shower is perfect! Near to everything you need to visit in Lake Tekapo. Amazing stay and I'll definitely go back, and highly recommend this place.
This is a beautiful little cabin with all the conveniences of home. It has an amazing view and is a very short drive to town.
A very comfortable unit. Everything one would need for a few days in Lake Tekapo.
The wi-fi was weak and my wife’s session were constantly being dropped. That was really the only issue we encountered.
Not much choose
The wi fi was not stable and weak signal
Cozy and peaceful spot. We very much enjoyed our stay.
It was beautiful, comfortable, clean and had everything we needed!
I loved it all!
Was everything we needed

Absolutely lovely location. The place has everything you need and is modern. Very close to shops and easy access to main road from Lake Tekapo.

It was cosy and clean. The owners take really good care of the property. Had a wonderful stay!
Very friendly helpful reception. A very spacious motel
Location was fine for both car transport and walking into town.First impressions were fine and reasonably comfortable
We didn’t think it was acceptable that we had mice present- had to ask for a mouse trap and caught two in one night. One side of the electric blanket didn’t go
The chalet was secluded and quiet. It had everything you need in the kitchen to cook, a great area to sit outside and was close enough to walk everywhere. Oh and the shower was amazing.
Nothing
Great cosy apartment close to all facilities and sights of Lake Tekapo. Easy drive to Mount Cook NP. Apartment had all that we needed with nice balcony to enjoy a sundowner.
Nothing
Clean, nicely furnished, good location & thoughtful hosts.

Cute cozy place with a nice deck.
CLOSE TO THE LAKE
WIFI WAS WEAK
A very cosy cabin with everything you need. Spacious enough that we cooked whilst we were there and ate on the balcony. The little kitchen area was well stocked and equipped. Great shower and lovely quality products / bedding. We loved our stay!

Ideal self contained chalet was cosy and comfortable and an easy stroll into Lake Tepako village. The Blue Lake restaurant was excellent, as was Kohan for a Japanese treat. Although our host Marie lived in the next town, she made the effort to visit us and share her lifelong experiences of living locally. Her family autobiography in the information folder alone was enough reason to visit!
Nothing
Very cozy. Really well stocked with everything you could need. Great location.
Very comfortable and well kitted out
More expensive than other similar properties we have booked in NZ
Really loved our stay here. It’s in a great location, close to the town if you wanted a longer walk or a short drive. Patio doors outlook onto beautiful greenery, this was stunning to wake up to. The kitchen facilities were great, and the guest book for recommendations in the town was extremely helpful! Everything was spotless, great size in the cabin.
Nothing
Single room cabin so limited space to keep personal things
Excellent location within 15 min walk to restaurants; nice clean comfortable home away from home😊

Stunning cabin, good location
Shame the bbq wasn’t working
A nice cozy little place with a deck to rest out on and only a couple of minutes from the city centre. Also great shower pressure and facilities
Wish it had some screen doors to allow fresh air in without bugs.
Cozy and modern cabin, comfortable, equipped with everything you might need. The terrace with a great view was the perfect place for breakfast and dinner. Truly a beautiful little gem.
The wifi had weak signal.
Incredible shower, close walk to restaurants, walking paths and the lake
Very comfortable cabin in quiet neighbourhood within walking distance of town site amenities.
Just a heads up....We were disappointed upon arrival to find BBQ out of order SO do NOT stock up on expensive meat cuts in anticipation of enjoying a good barbecued dinner😉
Lovely clean well appointed cabin within easy walking distance to the town centre. Good veranda overlooking the garden which catches the afternoon sun.
Wonderfully well appointed, including thoughtful kitchen items. Very warm and cozy with extra blankets. Nice safe neighbourhood.
Nothing wrong with the property - I just find contacting hosts through booking.com to be clunky, so I felt bad having to reply to the host messages via email all the time.
We love the location, it's a couple minutes walk to Lake Tekapo and the town centre. The view from the backyard is beautiful so we stayed in and had dinner at the accommodation both nights instead of going out. The owners are friendly and had great recommendations for our stays about cafes, restaurants and places to visit. Highly recommended. If I come back to this area I will stay here again
Very minor: The internet is intermittent and can drop out.
Great little cabin, clean and we loved the well stocked kitchenette, and other little extras. Very thoughtful.
BBQ wasn't working
Location was superb, unbeatable, close to central but nice and quiet. Host Marie and Peter are lovely with very helpful information and great communication.
1 x of the bed side lamp doesn't work properly. An empty coke bottle was found on floor close to bed when we check in.
Tidy, clean, heated well on arrival. Bathroom heated nicely also. Well thought out space.
