PERLA Dhangethi

Super nice hotel, swimming pool, very nice vibe ( laid back ) and they offer fantastic snorkeling tours and diving tours! ( we saw whaleshark, nurse sharks, manta rays, turtles etc!! Amazing! Hotel is very centrally located with near nice restaurants nearby. We came to maldives for diving and snorkeling ( whalesharks) so we had an amazing stay! We will definitely go back to Perla if we go back to Dhangeti!

Overall, we had a pleasant stay, but the property has clearly seen better days. It has great potential, which unfortunately feels underutilized at the moment. In our opinion, this is definitely not a 4-star property as listed on Booking. By European standards, it would be more comparable to a guest house rather than a full-service hotel. That said, there are positives worth mentioning. The staff was very kind and welcoming throughout our stay, and we really enjoyed the food in the restaurant. Breakfast was quite basic, but this seems to be standard across the Maldives.

The photos on Booking don’t fully reflect the current condition of the property. For example, during our stay, the upper terrace was not arranged at all - there were no chairs or umbrellas, making it unusable. The bathroom could use some attention, as it felt a bit neglected (e.g. moldy silicone in places). We also noticed that the bed linen and towels didn’t seem properly washed. Overall, we still had a good experience thanks to the friendly atmosphere and service, but with some improvements, this place could truly match its potential.

Rustic maldavian accomodation in centre of island. Easy to reach all amenities. The only hotel with a pool on the island. Hotel staff were lovely.

The location is very close to the local mosque so the calls to prayer are extremely loud, especially at 5.15am. The breakfast was monotonous, the same thing everyday. Also when going on trips the takeaway breakfast was always the same and we had to ask for water everytime. Some of the decor was dated, I.e. rotten wooden door frame in our bathroom. Perla do arrange trips but they have competition with a new provider across the street and Perlas prices and service do not compare unfortunately. They need to do some homework.

Im Vergleich zu anderen Unterkünften auf "local Islands" verfügt das Zimmer über viel Stauraum :-) Die Betten sind zwar schmal (für große Menschen) aber sehr bequem. Das Frühstücksbuffet war sehr gut und ausreichend. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und auch im Vorfeld bestand eine gute Kommunikation. Die Transfers kann man direkt über das Hotel reservieren und funktioniert perfekt. Bei der Rezeption stehen immer frische Strand-/Badetücher zur Verfügung. Gerne wieder :-)

Das Hotel verfügt am Bikinibeach über Strandliegen (mit "Perla" gekennzeichnet) aber da sich keiner darum kümmert, werden diese von allen anderen Gästen der Insel belegt. Somit müsste man zeitig in der Früh zum Strand gehen um diese zu "reservieren" (was ich mühsam finde).

The hotel was great. The staff were extremely accommodating making arrangements for us to have early breakfasts on days we were diving. Its location is a short walk to the jetty, the harbour and the restaurant’s. Nice pool which was very clean, towels were provided for the pool and the beach.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the food was quite good. They arranged 3 single beds which was very nice and the air-conditioning worked great. They had a special beach dinner for us on Christmas with lights and music which was fun. Conveniently accepted euros and USD at great exchange rates. Helped coordinate the speed boat transfers and provided golf cart rides to and from the jetty for ourselves and our bags.

Staying on a local island is a completely different experience than staying at a resort island (think loud prayer time in the early morning , no alcohol, etc) so you must manage your expectations. This property is a bit tired and the pictures seem from an earlier time. The shower needs to be cleaned thoroughly of mildew and the water heater never went above luke warm. The toilet didn't flush well. The food was probably the tastiest on the island, but the restaurant has no vibe or view and the rooftop is unusable, so we preferred the beachside cafes. While the staff was so friendly and made it worth it, I would rather try a different hotel next time, especially one with private beach access (bikini beach is run down, full of broken plastic loungers and trash--more a review for the island than the hotel). Bring your bug spray!!!

Great hospitality, helpful staff, cozy and clean rooms and a good location . The hotel helped with everything including booking speedboat, packed breakfast when we went scuba diving early in the morning, recommendations on the island and the food we had was very good.

Really comfortable bed, nice pool and great food! They provide new towels daily and also towels for the pool/beach. Snorkeling equipment is also provided which is plus. But the most valuable and important thing to me was the way that we were treated… The staff was amazingly kind during our entire stay, specially Garmii and Anik (sorry if the names are not correctly written 😅). The people in the island are also very friendly. It felt like home and our vacations were even better just because of this, it really made a difference. Thank you for receiving us so well!

Just some points for improvement: - The cleaning of the shower could be improved and there are some signs of rust (at least in our room) - The hotel should reinforce about personal hygiene of the cleaning workers About the tours booked in the hotel: - In my opinion, the tours guides have to be better prepared… I know the nature is unpredictable and there is no 100% you can see the whale shark or even the mantas, but since the odds are low, at least for the whale shark, I think it helps having a drone to search and speed boats really fast to increase the odds of seeing these animals. We later noticed that there were other companies that were better prepared and that makes a huge difference in my opinion. Spending hours in the boat just searching through eyes is a needle in a haystack. But maybe next time we get to see them! For the guests to come, also do not forget (like I did), that this is a local island, there is a mosque nearby, and prayers broadcast through loudspeakers, even in the night.

Perla exceeded my expectations the moment Dominic greet us at the port, him and the entire team were super friendly and went above and beyond for their guests… even arranging us a private trip to the sandbank last minute. Nothing is too much trouble for this team. The owner Hamila and her son were amazing and I would recommend anyone to stay with them at this beautiful hotel. The rooms are large, Netflix on TV, swimming pool, free snorkel gear, located by the shops and restaurants. This really is a great local island, with amazing people.

Very hospitable!! All the staff were the kindest, friendly, welcoming people. They were all so very helpful. They ensured a smooth transfer from the airport to the island meeting us as soon as we got off of the boat to take us to the hotel and also helped take us back to the boat on departure. Food was also delicious and always served with a smile and greeted with a friendly welcome! We also did a turtle snorkelling trip which was amazing. Rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Thank you for the best stay at Perla we were very sad to leave!

Very nice small hotel, with beautiful garden and a pool (which is rare at the island). Rooms are clean, confortable, staff is kind and attentive. Location is excellent, on the "main street", close to the jetty in one direction and the harbour on the other.

Our room was on the 1st floor, directly under the kitchen and staff room, and it was a bit noisy at the evenings.

The staff was very nice, helpful and friendly. They took good care of us. They organized the transfers and we got a very nice breakfast box (to go) when we had to leave early for diving. The hotel is family run and we were treated very warmly. Thank you!

Staff was exceptionally kind, the room was large and comfortable. One minor issue was the toilet which blocked twice over 2 weeks but was fixed promptly by the very efficient cleaning staff. We travelled with 2 young children and the staff honestly made our life so much easier with their kindness and helpfulness, we ended up having a great holidays. The breakfast service was ok but the restaurant for lunch and dinner was delicious! It does take a while for the food to arrive but only because it is all prepared fresh! The location is amazing, you are 2 minutes away from the nicest cafes on the island (Compass being our favourite) and the sunset beach, 5-10 minutes away from bikini beach.

The accommodation is located on the main street. On this street there are shops , pharmacy , ambulance , school , town office and police .The road leads across the island to a very nice pier on one side and the Harbour on the other. The accommodation is located in a garden with tropical vegetation in which there are parrots and pools. Check in and all communication with the hotel staff was completely seamless. The staff was very helpful in dealing with our requests. The accommodation provides you with free snorkeling equipment. It even organised a trip for all clients to a abandoned island completely free of charge. The rooms are big enough , the beds were comfortable. Mangoes were offered every day at the reception , which was very tasty.

Considering that it is a local island, food supply is within reach. Breakfast was therefore quite limited. But this was the case in all accommodation on the island.

The overall experience was great for our family. The hotel is in middle of the island right next to the jetty. The room was spaious and facilities were good enough. The hotel also provided bonuses as snorkeling equipment, etc.

Breakfast could be much more diverse, it is pretty standard. The same applies for the lunch/dinner even though the portions are big. Also there were issues with electricity during our stay. Bathroom also seems not ventilated good enough.

We spent 6 nights at Perla in February and had a wonderful time. It's located in the center of town, right by stores and a dive shop. Also very close are the pier and multiple oceanside restaurants on the west side of the island. Our room at Perla was spatious, clean, and well-designed. It had a large, fairly firm bed for 2, AC, a fan, and a balcony, and was perfect for some cool afternoon naps when it got too hot after a morning of activities. The staff were amazingly nice and helpful, and quick to assist with any questions or requests we had. We got picked up from the boat when we arrived, and were dropped off on our last day. Lunch and dinner was comparable to restaurants in quality & price. Our breakfast was included, with our personal highlight being the mas huni (coconut/tuna/onion) with flatbread. A final nice touch was the complementary beach towels and snorkel gear: a range of masks, snorkels, flippers, and water shoes to use at the beach. You can also borrow free bicycles to ride around the island. You can tell the hotel is run with love and with the guest in mind.

Would've been great if there was a variety in pillow thickness! (They were too thick) A second night stand would also be good.

The hotel was lovely, and we loved the clean pool. The staff was super kind. The breakfast buffet changed every morning.

The beds were a little worn out. Unfortunately, the muezzin woke us up every morning at 5 am as the speakers pointed directly at the hotel.

Great centrally located hotel with the most wonderful and welcoming people and great facilities and food and drinks! Everything was perfect, from the arrival to the very last minute. We got speedboat organized by them from the airport, person was waiting for us at the airport to lead us to the speedboat, when arriving there were Perla people at the dock with the car waiting for us to collect our suitcases and drive them to the hotel (even though it is only a 5 minute walk). It is a family run business that will also organize fantastic boat tours, and take care of your safety, comfort and experience more like you are a family, and not a guest. You will have the opportunity to swim with turtles, whale sharks, manta rays, nurse sharks, sting rays and if you are afraid of the deep water they will even provide life vests and a bow that you can hold onto in order to still get into the water, and they will be next to you so you can feel safe. Hotel is run by a wonderful young family that is also taking care of many animals, so you may get to meet baby turtoise or several baby Macaw while your stay. All staff is friendly, putting a lot of effort, rooms are comfortable and clean, air conditioned and a great maintained outdoor pool is just a cherry on top. Tasty Maldivian breakfast, great food that you can order in their live seafood restaurant at any time, free coffee, tea and the water provided daily. They even have snorkeling equipment and beach towels that you can borrow for free. If you are searching for an authentic local island experience highest recommendations for Perla and the Dhangethi island!

That we needed to go home.

The hotel entrance made you feel you’re entering paradise. The bedrooms and dining room were very comfortable and clean, the furniture was nice. The staff was outstandingly hospital, they always had a smile on their face and were there to help with whatever was needed. I’ve never experienced so much kindness and warmth in a hotel. Our stay was an unforgettable experience.

Perla is a beautiful hotel located on the Main Street of Dhangethi. The room was well appointed. We thoroughly enjoyed the turtle tour. Breakfast was basic with limited choice. It was a sweet accomodating family run hotel.

I chose Perla Dhengati based on reviews saying that the staff was great, the hotel was clean, and the beaches/activities were nice. This is definitely what we found. Siro and the staff (cleaning, restaurant, etc.) were all super friendly and helpful. We went fishing and manta ray snorkeling as activities and that was really nice and Siro gave us some helpful guidance and relatively new snorkelers. He was also super kind and helpful when we had issues (motion sickness, etc.). The people in the village were also super friendly. I felt like we had the island to ourselves, which was definitely nice for an introvert like me. It might have been a bit too quiet for a few of my family members. Also, we had our 3 teen/tween kids in one room and the big family room worked out great for that.

The food was good, but sometimes it didn't seem as fresh as we'd like. I think that had to do with the meat/fruit/veggies being imported. The TV didn't have a lot of options. We went during monsoon season, so if it was raining, we were in our room. Our TV didn't have Netflix as an option or an English channels (maybe 1 or 2), so I was forced to read my book, which was good...and bad. :)

Staff is the best ever! Amazing people, with whom we shared 11 fantastic days! We became friends with Isha (Ikko), Liv, grandma, Siro, Ali, Nade and pretty much everyone else - cooks, cleaning staff etc. (apologies for mistyping or forgetting to mention your names :)). They helped us so much and made our stay a dream come true! During our stay thanks to the excursions Perla organized for us we saw and swam multiple times with whale sharks, mantas, turtles, pods of dolphins, sting rays and also swam with nurse sharks and went to a beautiful shipwreck for snorkelling. On top of that they sent us amazing go pro footage from the excursions for free! We saw local traditions and sampled exotic food during a local festival and it all felt like being part of one big family. We went for a day to a fancy resort nearby but honestly, we would recommend Perla over any modern resort as in Perla Dhangethi you have everything you need on an exotic local island for the fraction of the price one would have to pay at a resort and as a bonus you meet so many cool people from around the world! We will definitely come back soon!

We had a really good time at the Perla, all of the staff were so friendly and helpful on our trip, by the end of our 6 full days there we felt more like a friend than a guest. From organising some excursions to telling us where to experience the best sights at the best times. However the small things, like getting the snorkeling equipment, it was never hang on a minute and you were left for ages waiting it was, yep let get you sorted with some equipment or hang on just a minute and it was literally moments. We were also there for a birthday and they surprised us with birthday decorations in the room with no notice at all, the small things matter The island was an amazing place to visit, hope to get back there again!

The location itself is the best, the staff was so great especially Mr.Ali was exceptional. The food was amazing, all the islands are neat and clean. The beaches were amazing.

We stayed for two weeks at Perla. We researched many local islands but chose Dhangethi and Perla due to the consistently excellent reviews - people, attitude, location, facilities etc. The advantage with Perla is it offered a pool so we could switch between the beach and the pool. There were many unexpected touches such as water and tea/coffee facilities in the room along with towels to use at the pool/beach. Breakfast was good and sufficiently varied each day. It included bread, butter, jam, cereal, tea, coffee, juice, eggs, beans, sausage along with local sweet bread/cakes and mas huni with roti. One day there were curried potatoes with mustard seeds – no idea what they were called but they were so good we ate most of them! For dinner, we tried a local café twice but decided the food at Perla was far nicer and better value for money so we ate there for the remainder of our trip. There is a laidback vibe at Perla and this complements their professionalism. Communication with the hotel was excellent both before we arrived and throughout our stay. Just ensure you locate the Information Helpdesk on arrival at Male airport so you can be taken to the boat (small blue/white booth located to the left as you exit the baggage area – near the Bank of Maldives booth). Perla staff would inform us on which trips they were offering and on which days. We opted for two trips – manta ray/whale shark snorkelling along with a fishing trip with BBQ. The snorkelling was excellent and we saw both – mainly down to the Perla guys getting us ahead of the action! The fishing trip resulted in our catch being turned into an unexpected romantic BBQ dinner for two on the beach! We would absolutely return to Perla and Dhangethi and I have recommended it to my sister and her partner who are now looking to visit!

Tout est parfait chez Perla Danghetti : le personnel est aux petits soins, l'accueil de tout le monde est juste incroyable, plusieurs excursions très sympathiques sont possibles. Nous avons adoré nager avec des tortues, fêter le nouvel an sur la plage avec les Maldiviens (excellent bbq)!! L'organisation entre la prise en charge à notre arrivée à l'aéroport et le retour était parfaite. L'île de Danghetti est la plus belle et la plus authentique de tous les atolls des maldives et le peuple qui y vit est d'un accueil inégalable. Allez-y les yeux fermés !!!

The island is not full of tourists and the local people are very friendly. We enjoyed the beach and the nature of the island.

Superbe hôtel, propreté irréprochable et un personnel vraiment au petit soin et attentionné. La piscine est superbe et très propre. La cuisine est délicieuse et abordable. La chambre est bien équipée et la literie est très confortable ainsi que la climatisation qui fonctionne parfaitement. Nous avons fait l’excursion des tortues et c’était magnifique. L’équipe a mit tout en œuvre pour qu’on puisse les voir et nager avec. Je recommande cet hôtel les yeux fermés et j’y reviendrais avec plaisir

Amazing hostel, the staff was really kindly and available during our stay. There is a swimming pool in the hostel and the room was really clean. I recommand it.

We loved everything about our stay. The guest house feels like an oasis due to its beautiful garden and pool area and large comfortable rooms with contemporary bathrooms. We we based on ground floor and had access to a cute sitting area outside, but it seemed that rooms with balconies looked equally beautiful. Having a pool was a real treat as this is very rare for Maldivian guest houses. The staff from reception to kitchen were excellent and went above and beyond. We had dinner at the guesthouse every night and the menu had a good choice and costs were very reasonable. Thank you for a wonderful stay! I really enjoyed my stay at Perla from arrival to departure. The staff booked my speedboat transfer which made it very easy for me. They have a lot of excursions for guests to choose from. And a lot of different food are in their menu. Loved the food here. Can catch the best sunset view from the terrace. The pool is very nice and private because it is just for the guests staying at the hotel. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Definitely would recommend this place if you are going to Dhangethi island for your holiday.
