Menzel Villa Ubud

This is a gorgeously appointed, private and relaxing hideaway boutique hotel. The breakfast menu was the best I had in Bali. Huge variety of choices and great quality, all served overlooking the cute little patch of rice.. (And for dessert one night the raw chocolate pie was simply the best I’ve ever tasted!!) . I loved the decor of my room, bathroom area overlooking the jungle. Staff were sensational and very helpful. And the Hotel offers lots of little extras if you need them. There’s a nice walk through quiet backstreets past Rice fields and tree views to various eateries. For me, the location tucked away quiet and restful. I loved the decoration and aesthetic of this place. Really enjoyed my stay as a solo traveller.. the spa of his lovely Massage for a good price.

The pool is rather tiny… although this didn’t matter I still enjoyed my dip at the end of a hot day. The location is further from the main areas of Allwood so requires using transport like Gojek or walking longer distances. I still managed to walk to the Yoga barn but it was quite far. This isn’t a problem depending on what it is that you want to do. For me, it was perfect place to land at the beginning of my month in Bali.

We had a wonderfully relaxing time at Menzel! Beautiful facilities and a gorgeous villa design, with great-quality food and an enjoyable breakfast. The surroundings were lovely too — rice fields and a little jungle forest that made the whole place feel peaceful and connected to nature. The atmosphere is quiet, friendly and incredibly relaxing. We really enjoyed our stay!

Just a small suggestion for improvement — it would be great to have clothes drying racks available, so guests can easily dry their swimming suits and beach towels. I asked the staff about this, and they kindly brought one for us, so everything was absolutely fine. However, having a drying rack available by default would be a great addition!

Everything was perfect, the quiet location, amazing staff and incredible service made me want to stay there forever. Definitely coming back and next time, staying there for the whole stay!

O hotel é incrível de lindo! O campo de arroz no centro, as varandas do quarto. Simplesmente amamos. Não é perto do centro, mas não atrapalhou muito o passeio.

We booked the one bedroom family sized villa with private pool for myself and 2 daughters, and were gutted to arrive and discover the pool was so green it’d basically become a pond, breeding mosquitos, and completely unuseable. We were promised it’d be fixed the next day, so we went out for the day and upon getting back that night was told it was fixed, and at night it was hard to tell as they’d skimmed the bugs off the top - and I stupidly trusted them and put my feet in it, which led to itchy rashes and bites as it was in fact not fixed. The next day they said they’d get it fixed again, but I requested a refund and said I’d go elsewhere as we only had one more day to enjoy this once in a lifetime trip. They offered a massage and to move us to a different room - so we moved rooms later that day (it wasn’t possible straight away and I wasn’t able to see it first, so again, I just trusted them as they seem to friendly and so kind…) We came back later that day to find it was a small plunge pool with no privacy at all, overlooked by everyone in the entire hotel, and not something you can swim in. So we never used it. We had dinner and I was given the wrong massage (much shorter than promised) so had to change plans for the final day to accomodate them rectifying this mistake by giving me the promised massage, and couldn’t have a late checkout, so had to simply leave our luggage in the lobby while we waited till the evening for my massage, before leaving for the airport. The whole trip was significantly marred by the choice of hotel that I made, and by me repeatedly trusting them to rectify it. It think they have a very good con-artist game going here really, and by being so nice to your face it makes it hard to complain without feeling like the bad guy, even though the reality is they sold me a room that was never inhabitable and only rectified it by moving us to a smaller and lesser room - by which the trip was basically over. Lastly, a refund was promised via...

Noi avevamo la capanna suite con piscina. Ambiente stupendo, vista incredibile, camera super, personale gentilissimo, tutti i servizi extra che ci sono venuti in mente li avevano (noleggio scooter, yoga, transfer da/per aeroporto, massaggi) con additional payment ragionevole. Posizione tranquilla a 10 min di scooter dal centro e con dei ristorantini local nei dintorni raggiungibili a piedi. Tutte le sere organizzano qualcosa se gli ospiti vogliono rimanere in hotel. Super disponibili e sempre raggiungibili su whatsapp. Veramente stupendo!

El hotel es muy bonito, llama al descanso y a desconectar, las cabañas perfectamente acondicionadas, el personal encantador y muy amable. El desayuno muy bueno, la carta aunque no resulta muy extensa (el hotel es pequeño), es variada y la comida bien elaborada. Por la noche realizan actividades extras, con musica en directo. El servicio de lavandería barato y eficiente. El entorno algo oscuro pero con la linterna del movil suficiente, a pesar de los arrozales no hay mosquitos. Entorno seguro, se puede ir y volver a cualquier hora con total tranquilidad.

L'hôtel est reposant et magnifique. Il est propre et équipé. Les personnels sont très accueillants et sympathiques. Le petit déjeuner est top ! C'est un bel endroit.

Une fuite au niveau de la paume de douche pendant 4 jours ( baignoire) . C'est toujours une contrainte à chaque fois qu'on prenne la douche car on met de l'eau partout. Ils ont réparé après.

My sheets smelt like cat pee or BO when I got in bed. I should have said something but I just slept on opposite side.

Was uns nicht gefallen hat: Das Frühstück wurde rationiert. Der Kaffee war leider enttäuschend schlecht. Zudem befand sich in wirklich jeder Tasse extrem viel Kaffeesatz – teilweise etwa 0,5 cm am Tassenboden. Die bestellten Poached Eggs wurden komplett hart gekocht serviert. Die Zimmer und Hütten sind extrem hellhörig. Man hört sprichwörtlich jedes Wort und nahezu jede Bewegung aus den angrenzenden Räumen. Der Check-out war um 12:00 Uhr. Bereits um 11:30 Uhr stand jedoch das Reinigungspersonal in unserem Zimmer und vermittelte uns sehr deutlich, dass wir gehen sollten. Die Kopfkissen sind ungelogen 35-40 cm hoch und unfassbar hart und steif. Davon gibt es pro Seite 2. Alternativen gibt es keine. Man schläft definitiv sehr stark angewinkelt. Besonders negativ waren für uns die Bettwäsche und vor allem die Matratzen. Diese waren mit Abstand das Unangenehmste und Ekelhafteste, was wir auf unseren zahlreichen Reisen bisher erlebt haben. Wir reisen sehr viel und haben wirklich schon die unterschiedlichsten Unterkünfte erlebt. Einen derart schlechten Eindruck hatten wir bislang noch nie. Alles in allem versprechen die Bilder aus unserer Sicht deutlich mehr, als die Unterkunft tatsächlich bietet. Unser Fazit: Wer Wert auf Ruhe, Sauberkeit und einen gewissen Komfort legt, dem können wir diese Unterkunft leider nicht empfehlen.

Amazing setting, beautiful. Breakfast setting was amazing. Liked being able to order breakfast rather than buffet. Lovely staff. Spacious 3 bed villa over 2 levels.

Found it strange that the main bedroom didn’t have a standing shower. Only bath with hand held. The stairs to main bed could be difficult to navigate for some. Didn’t like the padlock locking system as rhis made it hard for members of my family to come And go at different times.

Excellent cleanliness, we booked 3 bedroom pool villa, it was beautiful. We always got 5 start feeling through. Staff was very friendly and warm. We had a baby and they helped us to heat and cook baby food.

We booked a room with breakfast included, but the breakfast wasn't an unlimited buffet — it was quite limited, so we couldn't enjoy it as much as expected. Since most hotels in Bali offer unlimited buffet breakfasts, this felt like poor value, and honestly there wasn't much point paying extra for the breakfast package here.

The rice fields look really cool. Rooms are clean and have mosquito net and balcony with a view.

Its overall a nice hotel, BUT we never really used the private plunge pools, too cold water. Restaurant and SPA on the spot , nice and good, wouldnt call them expensive, just pricier than other options in the city (2-3x). The location is probably the most disappointing, you need to get in there on a small shabby side streets and there is not much there to walk around.

Complimentary breakfast and a la carte menu was superb! So delish and good options. Could possible have had more vegetarian options but they accommodated my requests for alterations to the menu just fine. The pools were both great - one had more space to lounge and was quieter so that was nice for relaxing. The location was perfect, slightly off the beaten track and amongst rice fields but near to Yoga Barn (20min walk or 5min Gojek). Overall, the staff were lovely and accomodating!

The bathroom was pretty basic, but was clean and had everything that was needed. The pool in the villages didn’t have the best lounge area but it made up for it in aesthetic.

Eine kleine grüne Oase mit Geräuschen wie im Dschungel. Da etwas weiter von Hauptstraße und Zentrum entfernt ist, sehr ruhig gelegen, gut zum Abschalten und Natur genießen, mit eigenem kleinen Reisfeld. Das Frühstück war großartig. Es gab eine sehr große Auswahl an Al la carte Frühstück und wir haben jeden Tag etwas anderes probiert. Es war jedes Gericht, auch Abendessen ein kulinarischer Genuss. Auch die Cocktails sind sehr zu empfehlen. Das Personal war sehr freundlich.

Aufgrund der Müllproblematik auf Bali, hat es jede Nacht extrem verbrannt gerochen, sodass wir jede Nacht davon munter geworden sind. Wir hatten eine ethnische Villa. Diese bestand nur aus Brettern, völlig ungedämmt, deshalb zog alles ungefiltert in die Räume. Ansonsten absolut empfehlenswert

Wunderschöne Architektur in balinesischem Stil. Hübsch angelegt zwischen kleinen Reisfeldterrassen. Familiäre Atmosphäre und sehr freundliches Personal. Sehr gute, geschmackvolle Küche.

Die Lage ist ein wenige abseits, was aber dazu führt, dass man wunderbar ruhig liegt und nicht von dem starken Verkehr genervt wird. Das Frühstück ist liebevoll gemacht und war sehr lecker. Das Zimmer war im Haupthaus zur Straße hin gelegen, da aber es eine Sackgasse ist gab es dort fast keinen Verkehr. Ein Grab von dort aus in die Stadt kostet nur wenig und ist jederzeit verfügbar. die Strecke zur Hauptstraße ist aber auch gut zu Fuß machbar.

Eine schöne Hotelanlage und zentral in Ubud gelegen. Unser Zimmer war auch sehr geräumig. Das Frühstück war lecker und die Angebote im Hotel waren auch gut. Sehr freundlich Mitarbeiter.

Gegen Ende hatten wir eine sehr große Kakerlake im Zimmer und allgemein wirkte es nicht sehr sauber.
