The Lakehouse Cameron Highlands

The Lakehouse offers a unique and charming atmosphere that feels completely different from a typical hotel stay. The English countryside-style architecture, beautiful gardens, cool weather, and peaceful surroundings made our stay very relaxing. The views overlooking the hills and lake were wonderful, and the property has great character and history. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the overall experience felt warm, cozy, and memorable. It was the perfect escape from the city and one of the highlights of our Malaysia trip.

The property is historic and charming, but some room facilities could benefit from minor modernization. Other than that, there was very little to dislike during our stay.

Great heritage location. Selected this location as it had air conditioning. Overall hands down a great property just an expensive one.

The location, the old English vibe, the service, the facility, the landscape, and the staff.

Nothing major. On the first night, the four poster wooden bed was creaking. But it was quickly resolved by Ms. Samantha the manager. On the second and third nights, all went well. The shower gel provided was of cinnamon/lemongrass scent. Too strong for us.

The property, location and staff were good

The bed was small despite them mentioning 'large double bed' and food at breakfast had 100s of bees on it.

Love the ambience, the facade, the elegance and authenticity of the hotel structure, looks very "English" with its beautiful landscape, flowers and trees. The rooms were very clean and staff very friendly and helpful. I could not ask for more. We went for our group reunion with 6 families and really enjoyed our stay there. We also had our group anniversary dinner of English roast beef and roast chicken and had English high tea the next evening. The 3 days and 2 nights stay was a memorable one!

The service is top-tier. That’s the only reason i choose this hotel as i bring elders that have many health condition that needs to be consider of, i am sooooo grateful they never looks burden or annoyed with our request. They even gave us room that no needs to climb stairs & u can park nearby lobby if u bring anyone that have knees problems

Magnifique bâtisse de style anglais avec un beau jardin très bien entretenu. Terrasse agréable et personnel avenant. Bravo à samantha qui veille à ce que se passe bien. Bon petit déjeuner, en particuliers les oeufs benedicte avec une lichette de caviar au dessus. Délicieux scones savouré avec du thé Boh évidemment.

La lumière de la terrasse et celle du couloir qui éclairent un peu la chambre la nuit, mais rien de grave. L’hôtel surplombe un lac comme son nom l’indique, hélas le lac est brun boueux. Il parait que dans les annees 70 il etait bleu.

Lovely breakfast and evening roast dinner was fantastic. Some lovely walks nearby up to the tea plantations. Lovely short walk into the jungle from hotel.

Wij vonden het een hele ontspannen en fijne sfeer hebben. Heerlijk gegeten (het is aan de prijs, maar dat weet je van te voren) en zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Het is een oud pand met bijbehorende kwaaltjes. Voor ons was dat ook de charme.

Wees bewust dat de tours die ze aanbieden toeristisch zijn. Dat ligt overigens niet aan het hotel, dat is bij alle tours in de omgeving. De groepstour betekent op elkaar gepakt in oude range rover zitten en van hot naar her rennen. Voor sommige prima, wij waren iig blij met eigen auto / chauffeur. Dus als je dat wilt, vraag een taxi / chauffeur, dan kom je op de iets mindere toeristische plekken en kan je zelf sturen wat je wel/ niet wilt zien.

We liked very much the old English style atmosphere and in particular, that the hotel was small. The staff was very accommodating and service minded. A nice terrace and garden. The hotel even arranged our transport to and from our stay and arranged also a sightseeing tour around the area.

تعامل بعض موظفي الاستقبال غير مسؤول ويحتاجون لمزيد من المهنية والتدريب . وجود كمية نمل بالغرف وأما الحشرات فحدث ولا حرج خصوصا اذا تم فتح شبابيك الغرف . الفطور ضعييف جدا . لابد تؤمن نفسك بالية مواصلات مناسبة . تطبيق جراب يأخذ وقت طويل وربما لا احد حجز وتضطر الى السواقين عن طريق الاستقبال وهم بلا شك يستغلون الوضع .

The staff were the high point of the stay. All the way from front desk through restaurant to housekeeping, everyone was very accommodating and welcoming. The Lakehouse is not the sort of hotel you pick if you're going to be out and about all day and just returning to sleep. It's a beautiful place to spend some time soaking in the ambience and being pampered by the staff. The grounds are landscaped to perfection, with lush lawns and a riot of flowers. Artfully placed armchairs and sofas in 4 connected reading rooms meant we were spoiled for choice when we wanted to settle in with a book and enjoy some high tea. The rooms were very clean, and the cleanliness was maintained to a high standard on a daily basis. The front desk was super helpful with booking tours and cars for us when we needed them. We particularly loved how genuine they were with their smiles and suggestions. Special shout-out to Thilaga, Dev, Param, Kenny, Suresh and Parameswari, as well those whose names we didn't manage to get for the high standard of service rendered. This is a place to which we will definitely be returning.

There was nothing very objectionable. One thing we did notice was that the food options were rather limited. Considering there are no restaurants within walking distance. It would have been nice to have access to a more varied menu.

A beautiful and peaceful stay at The Lakehouse Cameron Highlands. Set on a hillside overlooking a lake, just outside the busier towns of Tanah Rata and Ringlet, the hotel offers a quiet, relaxing escape surrounded by gardens, birdsong, and rainforest.

Service is good. The warm welcome from Balqis and the manager Miss Samantha made us feel at home. The scenery and overall ambience in the interior and exterior is nice and relaxing.

This was the “splurge” part of my trip and it really ended up being a very luxurious and peaceful experience. The hotel is located in a really beautiful part of Ringlet with a beautiful view. The rooms make you feel like you’re back in time in a good way :) while others have raved about the hotel. I will say that the staff were the STARS of my stay. They went above and beyond to make me feel computable. From Shantini ans Balqis on the front desk, to Thilaga and Parmesh in the dining room, to the hotel manager Samantha, to several other members of the staff - everyone was very kind and sweet and had exceptional attention to detail when serving me. It was a beautiful stay for me!

My stay at The Lakehouse Cameron Highlands was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, the charming Tudor-style architecture, misty surroundings, and serene lake views created an atmosphere that felt like stepping into a peaceful countryside retreat. What truly made the experience exceptional, though, was the outstanding hospitality. A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Param, Suresh, Bilquis, and the entire team—each one went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for. Their warmth, attentiveness, and genuine kindness added a personal touch that is so rare and memorable. Every detail, from the beautifully maintained rooms to the thoughtful service, reflected a commitment to excellence. Whether it was a friendly greeting, prompt assistance, or simply anticipating our needs before we even asked, the staff made our stay incredibly comfortable and special. For me the food was an issue to be honest the menu is very limited, the breakfast buffet is limited too , it should have more variety for westerners, Arabs as well , it was very expensive and not that good plus u don’t have alternative near by so u stuck with what u have

The Hotel was excellent and very comfortable. We were looked after very well with wonderful services. The only problem was that we went during a major holiday period and the roads were completely blocked which meant that we had to shorten any visits that we would have liked to do.

Awesome place to stay. It is slightly outside the central Cameron Highlands, but this also makes it easier to exit. Hotel staff kindly helped to arrange cars for us and overall facility, services and convenience were top notch. Room size and decor was fabulous. Room view was lovely too.

Heritage hotel with beautiful grounds and a cosy, nostalgic atmosphere. We’ve stayed here about four times and always appreciated the charm of the place. However, on our recent visit it was clear that the hotel is facing staffing challenges. The long‑serving staff remain polite and uphold the high service standards we’ve come to expect. Unfortunately, the newer hires brought in to supplement manpower fall short of these standards. Their hygiene levels are noticeably poor, and there is often a strong smell of cigarette smoke and general uncleanliness. They appear dishevelled and struggle to communicate in basic English, which turns even simple requests—like asking for a spoon—into an unnecessarily frustrating experience. The hotel’s ambience is still lovely, but the decline in service quality is hard to overlook.

Beautiful well maintained old building with stunning gardens and views. Probably the best service we have received in Malaysia. Food was excellent and prices fair. We will gladly return when next in the area.

The Lakehouse Cameron Highlands offers a peaceful atmosphere with charming colonial-style decor. The breakfast provides a good variety of options, and the quality is satisfying. The location is quiet and scenic, making it ideal for a relaxing stay while still being conveniently accessible to nearby attractions.

The room can feel slightly dim during the day without the lights on, due to the cozy interior design. However, this was a minor issue and did not significantly affect the overall comfort of the stay.

This is a beautiful place with good location. They had very antique furnishing and very English feel. Absolutely cozy and warm. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast place was also beautiful. Felt like we were in some village in Europe.

We stayed in the Foster suite for two nights. We enjoyed staying at the Lakehouse and would recommend this place. The level of service offered by the staff is impeccable and the hotel features a beautifully maintained lawn/garden offering plenty of space to enjoy the views around the hotel. The breakfast offers a good variety of options and as someone who often goes to the gym offers plenty of protein options in addition to the sweet and savoury options provided through the a-la-carte menu. The restaurant space (where the breakfast is served too) is beautiful and much more modern than the rest of the lakehouse’s interior. The food offered in the restaurant was of Ok-to-good quality depending on the dish. The short rib was an excellent dish. Yes, like read in the comments, the lake is brown and muddy though this does not downgrade the pleasure of staying at the Lakehouse.

Recommendations to enhance the experience of staying at the Lakehouse: - To prevent criticism, I’d recommend the hotel to update the photos to the true view and to remove the photoshopped lake photos as they can only lead to disappointment; - the high tea offered a good variety of sweet pastries, however, we found the savoury options too limited offering only two finger sandwiches. We would recommend to increase this to four finger sandwiches minimum. Moreover, the pastries were not crunchy (fresh) and felt like they were days old from the fridge (thus soft/doughy), this took away our appetite to truly enjoy the high tea. Given the price charged for the high tea, one would expect higher quality. - we found the burgers (regular and vegetarian) disappointing, largely driven by the paddies. - if I am being very picky: offering every breakfast table its own coffee machine is redundant and causes unnecessary constant noise during breakfast while adding - in my opinion - no additional value to the breakfast experience. I’d recommend asking guests what coffee they would like to order instead.

We loved it here. The hotel arranged our transfer from Sungai pelak with the lovely helpful and friendly Mr M, who was very informative along the long journey. We were greeted warmly on arrival by reception and Samantha and shown to our delightful room which overlooked the terrace and lake and the lovely fruit shops over the road. We really enjoyed sitting in the garden on the swing seat. All the staff without exception are wonderful. Food was very good, we particularly liked the Sunday roast, and the Baked Alaska is a little bit of theatre at the table. We had several fab day excursions with Mr M who's lovely daughter also works in the restaurant. We were sad to leave but happy to be moving on to a sister hotel in Melaka which we love Casa del Rio.

We selected the Lakehouse to stay for our Cameron Highlands sojourn because the room and location were ideal. We were not disappointed, as the deluxe suite was spacious and very comfortable. The in house dining was also very good with an extensive menu catering for the different cultures staying at the hotel. The staff are mostly quite young and very enthusiastic always wanting to ensure one’s stay is a great one. So, deserves the high rating. Thank you.

What a fabulous stay in such a lovely Hotel beautifully kept gardens very clean and comfortable room. All the staff were very informative and welcoming making our stay such a pleasure.

Had a lovely afternoon tea at Lake House Cameron today. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, with beautiful views that made it the perfect spot to unwind. The afternoon tea set was nicely presented, fresh, and delicious. A special mention to Suresh and the staffs for their warm hospitality and attentive service. They were friendly, helpful, and made us feel very welcome throughout our visit. Their excellent service truly enhanced the whole experience. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a peaceful place to enjoy good food and great service, as well as fantastic landscape view in Cameron Highlands!

This place is an absolute gem! The hotel is surrounded by a stunning garden that feels like a fairytale, and the views here are simply breathtaking—especially when the light hits the Tudor-style house and the blooming roses. My room is incredibly cozy, with top-notch amenities. They had everything I needed, from quality toiletries to a lovely bathtub for a relaxing soak. I also loved that they provided coffee and tea to enjoy at any time. The thoughtful little touches really made my stay special, like the complimentary evening snacks waiting for me when I returned to my room. For breakfast, I went with the full English breakfast, which was delicious, and the buffet spread had so many fresh, tasty options. The staff were the highlight of my stay—so warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. When I mentioned how much I loved their strawberry jam, they even gave me a whole jar to take home! I fell in love with this garden-wrapped retreat and can’t wait to come back. If you’re looking for a peaceful, beautiful place with exceptional service, this is it. 10/10 would recommend!

We came to The Lakehouse for drinks and were really impressed. The setting is beautiful, a charming English Tudor–style building that feels peaceful and elegant with soft music playing in the background. The service was top class. The staff were friendly, polite and attentive, which made the experience even more enjoyable. A lovely place to relax and soak in the surroundings — we would happily return and recommend the place to others.

Very nice hotel in the Highlands, Tudor style with old world charm. Gardens immaculately maintained. Comfortable lounge and bar area to have a few drinks and play games, fire place adds charm. Breakfast very good and service is great. A little far from eateries but easy to get a grab to the next town where we had very inexpensive dinners and fantastic meals.

Lakehouse is a wonderful venue to stay. Definitely posh and comfortable and well-thought through for the customer experience. All amenities were suitable and not lacking. Service was excellent from the start to the end the staff listened well, were helpful and made us feel comfortable from the moment we stepped in. Guidelines were also clearly explained. Very experienced team.

I really loved staying at tge lakehouse. It was a very cosy abd friendly ambience. The place was kept just perfect. Felt like staying in the british countryside. The gardeners do a fabulous job to keep the property look beautiful. The front desk and the restaurant bar staff keep everything spic and span. The highlight is tge breakfast where you get a coffee pod machine on every table so that you get that perfect expresso. Suresh made sure we have a cosy evening next to the fire place sipping some good wine. Food was just perfect.... Finally Param made sure we were well looked after... We wish we had stayed for longer
