Reviewed Apr 16, 2026The onsen here is fantastic. Natural spring water and very spacious. Sauna and plunge pool available, along with an open air pool.
The food is very traditional Japanese, which perhaps doesn't suit a western palate. Be cautious of the breakfast. Room had a funny smell. Location is very remote with no activities locally. Generally we felt this wasn't worth the cost.

Reviewed Dec 3, 2025アルコールが至る所にあり、感染リスク対策をしっかりしていると思った。ホテルのスタッフの方が親切だった。
温泉大浴場に、スリッパのまま入ってきている方がおり、凄く不快だった。入り口のスリッパを場所が段差などないので分かりづらく、そのまま入ってきたと思われるので、改善してほしいと思った。

Reviewed Nov 16, 2025瀞流莊坐落于群山深处，依峡临河，如一处隐于人间的温泉小憩所。在工作人员的热情帮助下，我有幸领略了丸山千枚田的大好风光。住在这里望群峰静默，享受深山里的安宁，真是美好极了。当温泉氤氲的暖意缓缓升腾，悄然治愈了旅途的疲惫。早餐是幸福的味道，一切都那么的完美。

Very uncomfortable beds and extremely small room. We have been sleeping in Japanese style rooms throughout our vacation so comparing to other rooms (and this one was more expensive) we are kinda disappointed. The food in the restaurant was mediocre

Ils ont pris le temps de regarder le meilleur itinéraire pour la suite de notre voyage en train et en plus, ils nous ont conduit à la gare sans payer de supplément ! Hôtel joli, propre, chambre à la japonaise. les alentours sont extrêmement calme, parfait pour dormir. Le onsen est très beau avec tout le nécessaire pour se doucher ! Le lendemain , nous avons eu droit à un excellent petit-déjeuner copieux !

Reviewed Sep 4, 2025I had the most amazing time at this place in mid August. The staff, the location, the facilities - everything was so perfect. Everyone was so hospitable and kind to me even though I was a foreigner. I rented a bike nearby and the staff at the onsen were incredibly helpful and patient. I enjoyed thoroughly my full course dinner and breakfast, which was insane value for the price! The meals had enormous portions. My room and all of the facilities were very clean and very well maintained. I Definitely will be returning on my next trip to Japan. Thank you!

Reviewed Aug 22, 2025I liked the room. It was nice sized and very clean. It had nice Hospitality of tea. I like the bath area. It was kept very clean and organized. The water was a nice temperature. The restaurant attached had nice prices and the food was prepared and present it well. Both dinner and the breakfast servings we're good. Staff was excellent from the hotel staff to the restaurant staff. It is a good location if you're traveling along the Kumano Kodo Iseji Route if you don't want the bus ride from Kumano City.
I do not think this is a five-star hotel as shown in the rating. The upstairs area where I was at had lots of dust and cobwebs around the light fixtures. In the bath area they had massage chairs which was really nice but look to be getting worn through and the material. They had wonderful hospitality downstairs by the front desk including a coffee machine however it would be nice to have had coffee in the room in addition to tea.

Reviewed Jun 6, 2025Fairly nice meals throughout my 2 night stay. Really nice facilities and onsen bath view. The outdoor one at sunset is really relaxing. There is a co-ed area between the baths to enjoy the view as well. Great location, close to the gorge.
The kaiseki meals were good but underwhelming in terms of flavor. Wish they were more memorable.

We asked to cancel our Japanese breakfast and they applied the cost as a credit toward our dinner meal, which was excellent. Provided an extra pillow and always had fresh towels for the onsen. They also helped with directions to various places we visited. Beautiful view of the river from where you sit in the onsen. Arigatogozaimasu!

The family tatami room was spacious, and the meals were traditional and delicious. The little gift store had some snacks for hungry kids. The outdoor onsen was lovely.

Reviewed May 10, 2024Well I dont know where to start...I loved the staff and enjoyed navigating our language barrier (since I dont speak Japanese and nobody at the hotel could speak much English at all). I had never experienced an Onsen before and I didn't expect to find the ordeal particularly comfortable because im not used to being naked around strangers but it wasn't awkward at all and was in fact a relaxing, therapeutic and overall wonderful experience! We paid for the inclusion of breakfast and dinner, all the food was delicious and the waiting staff were delightful and professional. I loved everything about my stay at the hotel, and the surrounding environment was magnificent. I wish I could have stayed longer, two night wasn't nearly enough!
There was nothing I didn't like - even if there was any confusion or error on my part, the staff were always very generous and easily able to resolve things courteously and professionally. Im so grateful for the time I had at the Iruka Onsen Hotel.
