We loved the staff and close proximity to the beach. The food was also good and the grounds were well kept.

We were on the ground floor right by the stairs so we were frequently woke up but we are both light sleepers. There was also heavy bass music until 4am one of the nights but that was out of hotels control.

La Mar de Bien is a very quiet 7-room boutique hotel in the Buritaca/Guachaca area. The staff is very welcoming, check-in was quite fast and the food quality quite good with decent prices considering the area. We liked the nature and trees surrounding the hotel, birds, bugs, and sea sounds, the large swimming pool, and the stunning beach.

To reach and leave the hotel for SMR, you must cross the collapsed Mendihuaca bridge on foot and switch cabs amid reckless drivers. Hopefully this gets sorted out shortly - the hotel is obviously not at fault.

La Mar de Bien es un pequeño pedazo de paraíso en la Tierra, rodeado de naturaleza, con vista a la sierra y a solo unos minutos del mar, lo que lo convierte en un lugar ideal para quienes buscan descansar y desconectarse del estrés de la ciudad. Todo esto hace aún más asombroso el hecho de que su ubicación no sea su mayor virtud, sino su atención. El hotel cuenta con pocas habitaciones, lo que permite una atención casi personalizada. Desde el primer momento, el personal nos ayudó con todo lo que necesitábamos (información sobre actividades, averiguar la viabilidad de ciertos tours, guardar medicamentos, etc.), y durante toda nuestra estadía todos los miembros del staff fueron amables, serviciales y muy atentos, incluso anticipándose a nuestras necesidades. Un saludo especial a Mónica y Jason, quienes se encargaron de hacer de este paseo la mejor experiencia posible para nosotros. Tuvimos la suerte de visitar el hotel cuando los dueños, Sergio y Diana, junto con su familia, se encontraban allí. Solo puedo decir que son de las personas más amables que he conocido. Nos ayudaron a decidir qué planes hacer, nos prestaron gorros y otros implementos para los tours y siempre estuvieron muy, muy atentos a que nuestra estadía fuera la mejor posible (¡y lo lograron!). Hay muchas otras cosas que podría mencionar: la calidad mundial de la comida (¡ir y no probar la suprema de pollo al curry es un delito!), la paz y relajación absoluta que se siente en todo el hotel, la grandiosa piscina, la vista del amanecer en la playa y muchas otras más. Sin embargo, considero que ya he mencionado su mayor punto fuerte. Solo ten en cuenta que, si buscas un lugar donde recargar energías, lleno de paz, silencio y excelente atención, La Mar de Bien es exactamente lo que estás buscando. Sin duda, nos vamos con el corazón lleno y con muchas ganas de volver. Esperamos regresar muy pronto para revivir esta experiencia tan especial.

Quedamos encantados, nos hicieron sentir como en casa por el gran afecto de sus anfitriones. Mi hijo pequeño encontró un gran amigo y su estancia fue más divertida. La comida fue espectacular tienen un gran chef a su servicio. Recomendado vivir la experiencia de pasar año nuevo. Volveremos pronto

Nice quiet place to relax. Very very very nice staff. Monica at reception made us feel at home from the start. And Jeison at the beach bar was great company; making excellent cocktails and looking after us if we needed anything around the pool.

The food was too rich, lots of sauces and prawns. Would have preferred some more simple options. Booked tour to Tayrona via hotel, we did not get what we were sold. Staff were sympathetic but no compensation offered.

The owner and staff are incredibly friendly, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. They even offer a convenient WhatsApp service for any questions or to pre-book meals, which adds a thoughtful touch to the experience. Speaking of meals, the food is absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. We will definitely return to this paradise. We loved the accommodations, the food, the grounds with beautiful trees and flowers, the wonderful staff especially Juan who made our visit so peaceful and beautiful as he arranged the dinner on the beach with flower petals and a bonfire for my daughter and her boyfriend who took this occasion to propose marriage! We adored the long pool where I could swim laps, and last, but not least, the empty beach where we could enjoy the lovely sea and view of the mountains. It was especially nice to enjoy the sea and beach at sunrise! Oh, and one more thing- the birds were stunning with their colors and songs, great for a bird watcher like me!

Everything was amazing. If you’re looking for a quiet relaxing place to unwind with great food and amazing staff, this is the place. Drink and food service at the beach and pool. Highly Recommend the mixed ceviche. Massages on site. Hot water showers and breakfast with several options to choose from. Good WiFi. You can also hike to a nearby waterfall for the afternoon. Highly recommended. I will be back when I can stay longer!

A suggestion would be to provide information for the bus system for the larger busses back to Santa Marta. Otherwise I can think of anything else.

This hotel is small and therefore few people. It almost feels like you have the full place exclusively to yourself. Peaceful stay, but a bit of music near the pool and bar would make it more lively.

The unpaved road to reach this hotel from the main road is quite long and hard to reach with suitcases. But the main downer is the restaurant that you are forced to eat at as there’s no nearby restaurant. On arrival we sat down for lunch of two persons. Right before us a table of 6 placed an order as well and there were no other tables. The entire order with starters and mains were served first to their table before ours were served and we only had mains. They should have cooked our mains after their starters were served. We waited 1 hour in total. Next day we sat down around 7:15pm (kitchen closes at 8pm). There was only 1 other tables that already got served, so we expected our mains to arrive sooner. However, three tables that sat down around 7:25, 7:40 and 7:50pm got their food first and we were left waiting again (total of 8ppl) Our food arrived again as last ones after one hour wait. Clearly there was a different treatment of guests…

Todo fue maravilloso. La zona donde está el hotel es muy tranquila, no es cerca a Santa Marta, pero no necesitas salir si lo que quieres es desconectarte y descansar y hacer planes con la naturaleza. La comida es buenísima.

A quite paradise at the Caribbean coast. La Mar de Bien is a small boutique hotel which is ideal for people that do not seek big parties and want to avoid the commotion that comes with many people. We loved this place. The location is great, quiet but also you can do small hikes from there and also go to the Tayrona park very easily. You have direct access to the sea which is very rough but beautiful and if you don't like it you can also swim and relax in the pool. Room was very nice and clean. Food is amazing, it's not cheap but that's something we knew beforehand and it was very delicious. Staff is friendly and very welcoming.

If there was iced coffee and if you could drink out of a coconut I would have rated the place a 12 ;) Just kidding, there is nothing serious to complain about.

Our stay at La Mar de Bien was a living dream! The staff was so warm, welcoming and helpful. Samantha and Alfredo are very sweet and attentive. The room we stayed in was Mar Picao was beautiful and very comfortable and spacious. We had a beautiful view of the premises and two hammocks on the terrace to lounge in as well. My husband and I are both vegan and they made sure to have a vegan menu for us. The breakfast is included in the stay and it was delicious. We also enjoyed the pool and the beach which are both on the premises of the hotel. Our main goal was to see El Parque Tayrona and the hotel is 15 min away from the park. We also got to book a tour through the hotel to see Rio Don Diego. Our tour guide was amazing! We learned so much of the history of the river and the indigenous history of the area. He picked up us up and dropped us back off to the hotel as well. If you're into nature, beautiful scenery, and a quaint, chill vibe then La Mar de Bien is the place to stay. We will be back!

A beautiful location on the beach close to Tayrona National Park

There wasn’t much to dislike!

The service was exceptional, the food was delicious, the site is beautiful, calm and quiet. A wonderful, peaceful place to relax and enjoy! Within walking distance of some beautiful natural attractions. The land is enormous for a limited capacity of guests, often times we had the pool / beach to ourselves. The beach has a natural rugged beauty to it that we personally prefer to manicured all-inclusive resort type beaches. The whole place has a familial, inclusive vibe to it. Felt like we were staying with family or friends. Great for kids.

We had an amazing stay here! We wanted a little more comfort after 10 days of traveling Colombia and La Mar dd Bien offered just that! Right by the ocean, away from the crowds in Tayrona, and with a great atmosphere, we had an amazing time! We were the only guests at that time but I’m sure that this hotel is never crowded since there not that many rooms. Overall a bit more expensive than other hotels but from our perspective absolutely worth it. Staff was super friendly all the time and very helpful! We didn’t leave the hotel for probably 48 hours which should say enough about our experience there!

We liked the fact that it was placed along the beach and has its own entrance, however water is not safe enough to swim in due to constant crashing waves. The staff also helped to make our short stay very enjoyable - super friendly and so helpful with everything.

Breakfast took a while to arrive. My partner ordered pancakes which he wasn’t impressed with.

Gorgeous location, between the trees, right at the beach and by taxi close to tayrona national parc. We enjoyed an excellent massage while hearing the ocean waves - perfect. We would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to relax and enjoy the stunning nature.

Their restaurant served amazing food with quite a large menu. I enjoyed the sea bass filet, posta negra and seafood rice very much. Breakfast had multiple options. The service was nice and the hotel was quiet enough you felt like you were at a private resort or vacation home. The owners Sergio and his wife were very welcoming and made time to talk to say hello and check in with their guests daily. The location, pool and ammenities were perfect. The "help yourself" bar was a nice homey touch. Our beds were made nicely daily. Nice ocean side furniture and shade. Also, no sand flies when we went end of February!

I don't have any real dislikes but I will mention the menu pricing was on the higher end for colombia (20-30k for apps and 50-66k for mains) and there aren't other accessible options close by I don't think. The place could do to have an espresso machine for cappuccinos ;) I didnt see a real cocktail menu, mostly beer/wine/spirits though maybe they can make some upon request. We got the room #1 beside reception, the only one on the main floor but we didn't mind. There are definitely insects that get into the room, mostly millipedes, which is normal for the beach and didn't really bother us we just put them back outside. The facilities were very clean. Also be aware the beach is not suitable for swimming, the waves are rough.
