It was clean and well cared for
Great beach and reception area.
Prices and renovation going on
Great location with very good facilities
It was nicely maintained and well run with excellent staff- especially the bell captain and his team
A bit convoluted to get around the property until you get used to it
The beach was amazing, very clean overall. Majority of the staff was very friendly and attentive, with the exception of one bartender. Shoutout to Vinay being the best restaurant waiter! The room and facilities were clean. The all inclusive package add on was a good value and the food was amazing here! Even the water sports (kayaks, paddleboarding etc) were included if you had the all inclusive package. Very short drive to the airport. The Natura Spa in the cave was AMAZING as well as the cave they have open for swimming, those were two very unique features of the hotel.
There was only one option for lunch, which would get very crowded and slow service. The pool would also get very crowded and you could not get a seat unless you reserved it in the morning, even then people would take your seat. There were some exceptions for the all inclusive package which made it difficult to tell what was included and what wasn't, so we ended up paying for some drinks that we thought would be included but werent.
Nice staff
The bathroom had mold that the staff was unable to remove. The view looks directly at the airport and you can hear traffic noise of the major thoroughfare going to the airport.
I thoroughly enjoyed the food at the hotel and the staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. I will be back
There was not anything I didn't like as I have stayed here several times with family and friends.
The location ear the airport was idea and the mature landscaping was lovely
The service felt disinterested with exception of the bellmen who were friendly. The property was not well maintained regarding maintenance and cleanliness. One bedside lamp was missing a lamp shade, there was hair in the shower and a layer of dust on the hairdryer. Also there was rust in multiple public spaces. It felt maintained like a roadside motel at luxury beach resort prices.
he location was Perfect. The pool was nice and warm.
Bartender could only do his job of making drinks. He could not assistant with getting towels. Not his job. This time of season you have to wear more them one hat. The all inclusive plan was over priced unless you’re going to drink. Then the staff acted like they Didn’t have to earn the gratitude. When buying the all inclusive they knew we would be out all day and didn’t even offer water automatically.
The hotel was wonderful, just as the reviews and photos promised. We met many returning guests, highlighting the excellent service. We enjoyed many complimentary perks like afternoon tea and Monday night buffet. It was such fun to see free-roaming cats, chickens, and roosters around.
Fun and easy
This property is very UNWALKABLE and not for people with disabilities.
Wonderful resort, staff was exceptionally nice and amenable to our schedule.
I believe this was our tenth time we have stayed at Grotto Bay and the updated facilities were outstanding. As always the staff was gracious and we look forward to our next visit to Bermuda!
i
Everything about this a place is amazing I wish I could’ve stay longer
Love it here. The cathedral cave was the best part of the property! Beach was beautiful too
Everything was great. We will be back.
The staff was wonderful, location of resort was not close to many offsite restaurants.
The HAPPY place! Everyone....from the moment you step foot on the property (concierge, reception, wait staff/servers,housekeeping)... EVERY employee we encountered was welcoming and helpful to the nth degree! As soon as we stepped into our waterfront room,we both said "WOW" at that balcony view! It was wonderful! MOST unique: Cathedral Cave swimming......amazing!!!
Need to update all rooms and lobby has a musty smell and AC vents in lobby leak on floor
Wonderful island with nice people, but VERY expensive. Grotto Resort is conveniently location near St George which is more like "old Bermuda" and can be reached in a 10 min. bus ride. It currently is the only Resort to offer an "All-Inclusive" option for dining on the island. 2 menus to choose from but comes out of 1 kitchen. Very good beach grill. Food is good. We visited the smaller towns (Flatts/Tuckertown/Somerset) and wanted to eat local. Traveling by bus and ferry is very safe even at night. Property is hilly, older, but well kept. They are building 2 new buildings and I hope another restaurant.
Very clean and safe.
I liked all aspects of the Grotto Bay Resort, however, walking all over (hills and stairs to pool and beach) at times were excessive.
Location and access to the beach
The hotel was amazing including the spa. Very unique spa experience in a cave.
We really liked the underwater grottoes where we could swim and also we had a massage in one of the grottos. The place is very beautiful right on the water can't ask for more.
Staff was guite friendly and helpful. Was surprised at the number of stairs from the lobby building to our room, but it was good exercise and we took advantage of the bell service for a ride upon departure. First meal in Bermuda at the poolside restaurant was mediocre and pricey but grab and go breakfast in the bar was better quality and value. Cocktails were also good. The room was attractive and modern in style and the water views and snorkeling so good I would choose to stay here again. The location was convenient to the airport and Swizzle Inn, and once we discovered the bus service it was easier and affordable to get around the island.
It would have been nice to know how far away the rooms were from the different amenities on property. Especially for a pregnant woman. Lots of hills and walking just to get to meals or the only pool. Meat/fish was overcooked at both dinners we had. More all inclusive transparency when looking at our options before the trip. What’s included vs. not.
Property was lovely and staff was very nice.
The only comment I would make us that the room housekeeping was nit up to standard. Everything else was wonderful....the foid was too good !!!!! The main lodge staff were wonderful as were the dining staff!!!
The property was in a lovely location looking out onto a water view. Unfortunately it is not very favourable for one with mobility issues or if you have a stroller. That being said you can ask for transport from the bellman however you still might have to contend with stairs since there are no elevators.also there are periods when you cannot get something to eat. We arrived hungry at 4:30 but had to wait until 6:30 to be able to get food. I must say the bellmen were the most pleasant and helpful but the front desk was hit and miss
This is a wonderful resort in Bermuda with so many things to do right on site…swimming in cave, feeding fish, spa, hiking, paddle boards, snorkeling with shipwreck, great food with an all inclusive option, a great family getaway convenient to airport too
I thought the property was a little old on the negative side on the plus side staff friendly - airport close - food excellant beach nice
The resort was nice and updated. All inclusive was a nice option but the dining options are extremely limited. Its the same menu every day. And the food is very average at best. Also the alcohol drinks are premade in jugs which I thought was gross and cheap. Last was all the roosters everywhere. When I saw the cockroaches I then knew why they were there. This was a new experience for me at the resort. It was a 3rd time there and unfortunately there will not be a 4th. Too grossed out.
We liked the ocean front
The lobby bar should be open at 1100am until late for those people that don’t want to sit outside in the heat at a noisy pool bar. Drinks in the main lobby bar were very cold while the pool bar and upstairs outside are were warm.
Beautiful
Just what I needed. Lived how everything I wanted for my vacation was right at the resort. All of the staff were welcoming, friendly, and very helpful. Im glad they offered the all-inclusive meal plan add on. The food was delicious for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I was highly impressed!!! The beach and the water was so relaxing and refreshing and at night the frogs "sang" in a melodic tune all night just if if you were being serenaded. I would stay again!
This is my second time at this resort and I noted that they have made major additions during COVID. The location of this resort is excellent for an active traveller as you can easily jump on the bus in both directions. We even took the bus from the airport but it is only possible with small carry-ons. The food is great, the water is beautiful and you get access to their private cave where you can swim, often with very few others around.
Everything was very nice, but unfortunately, they never cleaned our room
Very close to airport
It was all right. I don’t see anything special about it. Definitely will never go back.
Staff was amazing. Beach and pool being so close was fantastic. Close to airport. Food was excellent. June Ann was so sweet. Donna and Wendell were amazing. Will definitely be back
Great all inclusive. So easy and quick from airport. Good food and beach and pool.
Good location, nice place, friendly staff .
3/5 – Great water sports, but not a 4-star resort We just returned from a stay at this resort and overall, it was average at best. The property and rooms are below the standard of a 4-star in need of general upkeep and updates. The main check-in lobby is modern and clean, which gives a great first impression, but unfortunately, that doesn’t extend to the rest of the resort. Service was consistently slow throughout our stay. On arrival, we were given the wrong room type. To their credit, the staff fixed the issue and gave us a partial refund, but they kept saying the new room was a “downgrade” without ever explaining how which left us confused. The room itself felt very tired and didn’t live up to the bright, polished photos online. That said, there are a couple of highlights. The on-site cave is unique and worth a quick visit, and our favorite part of the stay by far was the water sports experience. The on-property vendor was fantastic friendly, professional, and made the trip memorable. If you're visiting primarily for the water activities and not staying on the resort much, it might still be worth considering, but go in with realistic expectations about the rooms and service.
Rooms need to be updated and cleaned better. We had a hold in our bathtub and blood on our sheets. Walls are incredibly thin so you can hear everything from your neighbors. We left early and the hotel did refund us our remaining nights which was greatly appreciated.
We had a lot of issues with housekeeping and only had our beds made twice.
This was our 2nd stay, nice to see all the work they have done. We only ate breakfast at Grotto Bay, which was really good. The beach at Grotto bay is phenomonal, staff very nice! Grounds really well kept. Rooms are very clean but alittle dated. Overral really enjoyed our stay!
Beautiful property and food was very good. Lots of walking hills and steps to get to main restaurants can be tiring if you are not a young person. We found the most pleasant people were the waiters and housekeeping. Bartenders (especially at the pool) were grumpy until you gave them a substantial extra tip and then they were your best friend and would smile and talk to you. Not a place to go if you want quiet and relaxing as a lot of kids running around which I knew. Not a deal breaker, but this resort definitely caters to families with kids. Drinks were just ok. Food was good quality. Some dishes much better than others. I found it is a pretty good deal for the all inclusive package and you can't beat the quick air travel from Boston and the beauty of the island.
Overall we had a very good stay. Mostly positives. A quick list of major catagories on a scale of 1-10. Food and food serIce- 9. Pool and beach areas -8. Lobby and check in - 9. Rooms - 7. A bit worn. Lastly drinks and drinks services- 3 ! Terrible bartenders and drinks. Slow, ornery , and at times mean. So bad, even though the overall score would be about 8 I doubt I would return. Real shame.
Great
The property is beautiful, our room had a great view, and all the staff (Matthew, etc) are wonderful especially with kids. Beach and pool aren't huge but very nice and never an issue with getting a chair. The Pergola is a great spot to watch fish; while the birds, chickens, and (especially) cats found on the property add to its charm. Food isn't cheap but we didn't have a bad meal here and the breakfast buffet was a great way to start each day. Being just a few minutes from the airport, and with a bus stop out front that lets you access most of the island once you figure out the routes/schedule, we would definitely go back.
We love this place so much that we’ve been here 6 times!!!
Great time and the staff was the best.
I would like to see a different menu at least for dinner
Customer service was awesome, bus transportation was convenient and easy, very close to airport and the beach was beautiful. Food prices are up there, but that’s to be expected. Internet access was mid. The beds are small for two but comfortable
Beautiful place to stay as we made it all inclusive. Many things to do on property ..swimming in a cave on site was a highlight for me. Food was excellent and actually tried new foods.
We enjoyed staying at this property. There was a bus stop right outside the hotel driveway. The beach was small but perfect for us. Our kids enjoyed swimming in the calm bay and seeing all the fish as they were swimming. There was also an obstacle course anchored in the bay where they were able to swim out and jump off. My kids are picky eaters so there weren't very many options for dining for us. But the restaurants at the resort were very nice. We enjoyed going up to the Swizzle Inn for more than one meal. The hotel was very accommodating for our specific requests. The front desk was very helpful in helping us navigate public transportation. There are some great restaurants in St. George. We did visit the Royal Naval Dockyard, but that bus ride was over an hour. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly.
We really liked the cleanliness of the entire facility and the friendliness of the staff. The only recommendations are to have more variety in the menu options and open the restaurant earlier for the breakfast buffet. Everything else exceeded our expectations.
properties a bit tired, despite recent renovation, a lot of cosmetic work was done, but the bones were not repaired, i.e. knobs fell off our shower the first time we used it, and we had hot water going full speed in our tub for about 20 minutes until maintenance arrived, the entire room fogged up, we were worried we were going to have a flood. This hotel is absolutely swarming with young children in the summer. Impossible to get a pool chair unless you play the game of getting up at 7 AM to put your towel on your book down and save a seat for the day. Front desk, staff and bell staff are very polite, restaurant staff were extremely rude. Hopefully you don’t intend to sleep in on your holiday as the roosters will start crowing at 5:30 and not stop.
Great place they have everything you need and a great spot to explore from
Beach is man-made and just a ok Not enough lounge chairs and umbrellas for shade around the pool. Too many children unattended and jumping in the pool. Item left in room was not returned. Numerous calls for an update were unreturned. Very disappointing for $1500 for a 2 night stay not including any food or beverage.
The resort was very comfortable and perfect location near the airport. Breakfast was a bit too pricey for continental. Pool was open late or maybe we weren’t supposed to be in there but that was cool. Staff was friendly and very helpful.
Location, friendliness and helpfulness of staff, amenities, breakfast.
Found the renovated bathroom to be limited. There is no place to put toiletries, cosmetics, etc. Limited rods for hanging towels. This was our fifth visit to Grotto Bay, the first after the renovations. Don't remember this being a problem before.
Resort was a memorable experience! The restaurants served really high end cuisines! The breakfast buffet was delish! The staff, manager in restaurant (Veronica) was super nice! The servers (Belvan, Esteban, Michael, and a bunch whom I cannot remember names were the best!!!) Only minor minor issue is if you are in a wheelchair or have knee issues (pls request a suite near lobby.) You will end up walking up a steep hill. (PS - the suite was so clean; the bed was firm and the towels were changed daily.) I will return in a heartbeat.
Great staff, dining and amenities! Great place for all ages, our group of 8 (ages 4-72 years old) all enjoyed their stay. Third time here and plan to come back again.
Judt what we needed for some time away.
The hotel is very nice. The property is very steep. Not an easy walk from lobby to our room & the pool. It is close to the airport but we had to take the bus daily to get around.
ALL GOOD TO EXCELLENT
Lovely pool area, plenty of chairs & umbrellas at the beach area. AJ at the front desk, he was very helpful and pleasant. I wish him well in his upcoming wedding in August!!
Amazing gorgeous property with beautiful pool, beach activities, delicious food and stunning natural caves!
Go now! It was a girls’ trip/birthday celebration that exceeded all of our expectations. The staff is WONDERFUL! They knew who we were by the second day! Rooms were cleaned every day. Three grown women in one standard room and had lots of room. The food on the all-inclusive plan was phenomenal, and the drinks were plentiful! Just do it! You will be so happy.
Staff outstanding!!!! What a stunning place!!! Gonna be a repeat offender!! 😂❤️
Very helpful and friendly staff! I had held off on the all inclusive add on at first as I was traveling with my 8 year old, my thought being he would not eat that much food and I would not be drinking many adult beverages. However , I had not been to Bermuda before and had not been expecting the island prices (a regular smoothie for $17)! This makes the all-inclusive option a much better deal than I had thought! Particularly as non-motorized water sports are included. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and now consider Bermuda to be one of our favorite beaches!
Property is gorgeous! Redone property was done extremely well! Food was very good but expensive...but that is Bermuda as well.
We loved everything about this resort! They obviously hold their employees to very high expectations and standards. Everyone worked so hard and took pride in their work. The property was so well maintained. Great location and so picturesque! Made for a perfect trip!
.
The staff was super friendly! Very accommodating. The food was delicious! We did not have one bad meal. I also had a massage! Amazing.
I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of the room. I don’t think they actually clean the rooms, it was very dirty. I also has an issue with the air in the room, it was either freezing cold or too hot, I didn’t get any sleep for my entire trip because the AC system.
Friendly and courteous staff, great food options and an amazing location.
I liked everything about the property
Staff was friendly and there was ample room in the beach area to not feel crowded. Weather was also beautiful.
Very convenient to the airport. The pool and beach are good but can get crowded. Many people elect the all inclusive option so you do get families with children. I did not elect all inclusive but we could eat at the restaurants in a pay as you go. Dive and snorkel trips to the reef(s) available on site. There is a bus stop out front for easy access to Hamilton or St George’s. It is walking distance to Swizzle Inn but any other off site dining requires transportation. Crystal and Fantasy Caves are walking distance as is a rail trail walking trail section that is very beautiful. Tom Moore Tavern is very close but lacks a sidewalk so it’s best to Cab or scooter there. Massage in the cave on site is great but they are hard to book and should be done ahead of time.
The hotel is beautifully located near the water. It appears to be well maintained. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. You do have to walk up and down a hill and steps to get around the resort. The beach is calm and clear- not a wave in sight. People travel with their kids here & they have fun cause of the floatation play area in the water. The rooms aren’t exactly sound proof so you will hear a child crying if they are next door to you. ( Happened to me) They offer bus tokens for a fee if you want to use the bus system along with a bus map and schedule. Their bus system is extremely reliable and efficient bus system. I went for carnival and majority of my expenses was for taxi service- I used the app Hitch which was reliable for me. I found the taxi fares to be extremely high. The crystal cave is super cool- however I didn’t have time to go in the water. Recommendations: -Offer free airport shuttle service since it’s literally 5 mins away - If you don’t get the all inclusive package, breakfast should at least be included
Amazing property. You wont find a more unique experience with the Cathedral Cave swimming and the Natura Spa cave experience. Quiet and beautiful beach. Staff is friendly and helpful. Room was clean and had a beautiful ocean view. We really enjoyed our stay here. All the steps and walking kept us active and we worked off all of our vacation food that we consumed lol
The location was great. Bus stops to Hamilton and St George’s at the entrance to property. Unbelievable Spa experience in caves. Always able to get shade at beach and pool. Food was decent. Short walk to Swizzle Inn. 5 minute cab to and from airport. Very attentive staff.
Breakfast Buffett needed more berries and premade eggs. Bathroom a bit small.
