Provider-sourced guest reviews.
We have been to this hotel twice before and it is amazing. We were hoping to go next week and we had the most amazing support from fairmount. My husband has been unwell and the fairmont bent over backwards to help us. Sadly we weren’t able to travel but we are looking forward to going soon. This would always be our hotel of choice in Barbados. The staff are amazing.
We had a really wonderful time at the Fairmont. The rooms were super comfortable, the view from our balcony was stunning - spent many hours gazing at the beautiful crystal clear turquoise sea - the food in the restaurant is delicious, the beach is idyllic with a beautiful pontoon you can swim to. But what really makes Fairmont is the staff. They were so friendly and helpful. Special shout out for Ryan (watersports), Joann, Shane and the lovely young man who does the housekeeping (sorry, didn’t catch your name!) Thanks Fairmont, hopefully see you again soon. Family Webb. X
Where do I start!! From the moment we arrived our hostess was so nice and explained everything to us. That rum drink was delicious I even drank my husband’s!! We celebrated our anniversary and in the room waiting for us was a bottle of champagne and a lovely note. The room was nice just the bathroom needs a little makeover. We did not want to come home! Your staff was amazing (I don’t understand the other reviews about them) big shout outs to first Sabrina who welcomed us for breakfast and lunch each day with a big smile. Renee and Ria (Rhea maybe I’m spelling it wrong, sorry) what can I say we fell In love with them! They spent time with us. full of so much information! Renee when she saw us always waved hi and made a point of coming over to us to talk. She is beautiful inside and out! Ria and her kindness and so much fun to spend time with. We never had to wait for a cocktail, she was on it!!! I loved spending time with her in the sitting area by the bar. Also a beauty inside and out!! Rolston wow what a gentlemen!! Big smiles every time we saw him and set a really nice in room dining table. Let’s not forget Rashad from the pool area! Such a young gentleman. He looked for us and really set us up for the day. One day I asked is there a store that I can go to to get a noodle for the ocean and he said just one moment and ran and got me one! Thank you for your amazing staff and a great time away!
From the time you arrive at the security gate, the service starts. Fantastic and friendly staff. This is paradise. The hotel rooms were clean and very comfortable.
The only down side was only one restaurant was open whilst the other two were being renovated, therefore there were limited options for food and we were unable to experience the main restaurant and the spectacular views.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 8 stay holiday at your hotel. It was recommended to us by friends but we had read several negative TP reviews prior to our stay and so we were a little nervous what we would experience. We arrived to a friendly warm greeting when checking in which was a quick process. We were offered some rum punch which was a nice start to our holiday then shown to our room which was spacious although a few areas did look a little tired. We had a view to die for (with a good sized terrace) of what I can only imagine must be one of the world’s best beaches. This really is the Fairmonts biggest draw…the beach, it’s absolutely stunning. All the staff we engaged with were friendly, fun and in most cases efficient. Special mention goes to Nicole who was always so smiley and attentive at the beach. Lorenzo, Joanne and Alison were also staff members we engaged with often and who were always eager to please. Thank you very much to Marva Gail who sorted out a small issue at dinner one evening for us, she went above and beyond for our family. Whilst breakfast at the hotel was good, we felt that the quality could have been better. One of the restaurants was closed during our 8 day stay and whilst the beach bar offered a good varied lunch and dinner menu, it would have been good to have another option. We did however take advantage of all the brilliant restaurants that were only around 10/15 mins away in an Uber. We have been fortunate enough to stay at lots of wonderful hotels over the world and I feel it’s fair to say that the Fairmont in Barbados has some areas to work on. It really could be an exceptional hotel in an exceptional location.
We have just completed a wonderful 12-day Bed and Breakfast stay at the Fairmont Royal Pavilion, and we are absolutely blown away. Set in pretty gardens overlooking the most beautiful aquamarine sea, we stayed in a Signature Oceanfront King on the 3rd Floor (Room 337) which had the most incredible view. The bed was comfortable and had plug points on both sides. Tea and coffee facilities were great, and there is a stocked, reasonably priced mini-bar. The room was very quiet and was serviced twice a day to a exceptionally high standard. The food at Taboras Restaurant was delicious. We were impressed on every occasion with the pizza, fish, salads, and burgers, to name a few, which were all excellent. Breakfast was served efficiently and was inclusive of all the usuals—hot food, eggs cooked to order, and bacon—but also some delicious Caribbean options alongside fresh fruit, cereals, and pastries. The pool was lovely and as warm as a bath, but we spent most of our time at the beach, which is even more beautiful than in the pictures. It is super relaxing, offering the perfect balance of waves gently lapping while boats and jet skis whizz by to watch. It was always easy to find a sun lounger, which were set up with two towels per bed each day and followed up with excellent bar and food service all day. While on the beach, we used the floats out at sea to rest on and had a go at the complimentary paddleboarding, which was readily available. Other watersports are available at a cost; we did a boat trip to swim with turtles, went jet skiing, and tried the inflatable sofa. There are fantastic local restaurants within steps of the hotel, including Lone Star and Jumas, as well as the burger van next door on the beach. You can easily walk into Holetown during the daytime or catch a quick taxi. The atmosphere at the hotel was very, very relaxed. There were a couple of nights with a live saxophonist at dinner, but no loud, overwhelming entertainment schedule, which is exactly how we liked it. The general bar and restaurant areas are all very sociable and friendly. The resort itself is lovely, but what truly makes this place paradise is the incredible staff. Every single day, the team went above and beyond with a warmth and professionalism that is impossible to match. Without fail, every member of staff we came across acknowledged us in a friendly manner, and so many around the resort even somehow knew our names! While the entire team was lovely, we want to give a special mention and massive thank you to the following staff members who made our stay so memorable:The Dining Team Mary Anne, Theresa, Tiffany, Andre, Sabrina, Shakeem and Kobe, The Bar Team Kyle, St. Claire, Reia, Lorenzo and Nicole and then Ryan and Michael on the beach thank you all for taking such amazing care of us. You are a credit to the Fairmont brand
My wife and I stayed in Fairmont hotel whilst in Barbados. Have to say the hotel was really nice, our room (thanks to Tia-Marie) was amazing and breakfast was very tasty. The hotel staff were great however there are 3 staff members who were absolutely amazing. Tia-Marie was great. She gave us a great room and made this very special for us. She had an amazing customer service and definitely is an asset to the hotel. Also especial thanks to the beach crew, Ryan and Derek. Both were great and very friendly. They arranged a lot of water activities for us and absolutely amazing. Highly recommend the hotel
Lovley hotel ,very friendly staff,we had a fantastic time there. Go and see Ryan at the beach club and go sailing with him 👍
Outstanding , excellent, professional service from our first encounter with the bellman Seth, superb front desk staff including the beautiful young lady ( please excused my memory for not remembering her name) she escorted and explained how to use the amenities in the room for staying comfortable! Last but definitely not least! The Saturday night outdoor movie staff the hostess, our dinner waiter (Andre👍🏾) our breakfast and lunch staff on Sunday including the very nice waitress Theresa👍🏾Monday breakfast staff including the waitress (again my bad memory with names) I have now added the Fairmont Royal Pavilion to the sister hotel Fairmont Princess in Bermuda as one of my favorite hotels to vacation at.
What can you say but stunning doesn't do it justice. Ultimate luxury, amazing staff and really good food. Could do with some sharpening up n some areas but generally amazing and loved the breakfast
Maurice sip and paint was very relaxing and Amazing his team and him did a marvelous job .I not a painter but he made feel like one for day Thank you looking forward to many more 😀
The staff, the location, the whole place was great. Fantastic stay, amazing staff, we had out daughter with us and they were so accommodating for Autumn
We did the sip and paint with Maurice and it was an experience everyone should have. I will return every month. Not only am I experiencing a mini art class but I get to take it home. My friends and I had a great time. Thanks a mil for this treasure Maurice
This hotel is just awful it is supposed to be 5 star it is tired & worn out according to its own literature it was last upgraded 38 years ago. its only plus point is it is near the sea. There are plenty of much better hotels near by.
My wife celebrated a very special birthday and we booked the Fairmont Royal Pavillion Hotel in Barbados through Hays Travel Norwich with the help of the amazing Kerry. We flew Virgin Atlantic from Heathrow and they were superb. But the hotel was absolutely unbelievable. Magnificent beach location, the most amazing ocean view room and above all, the best and friendliest staff we have ever come across in our many travels. They are truly special and from the moment we stepped into the hotel till we left,we were made to feel so welcome. Everything was in place from a superb reception to being looked after in every way possible. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. There are so many to thank. Tina Maria,Lavene and Antonio in reception,Jarisla a superb breakfast host,Michael and Shane brilliant beach attendants, Sholeene such great fun, the wonderful Kerli who I had so many chats with about our experience, Che and St Clair great hosts in the bar..I could go on and on. What a staff. The food was superb as was the service at every meal. If you like walking, the beach walk is incredible. Go into Holetown on the yellow bus. Great fun if scary! We went to the Lone Star restaurant nearby as well and that is incredible too. Our room was tremendous and particularly loved the outside bed on the balcony to look at the dramatic sunsets. We could not have asked for a better holiday and we would like to thank all the staff for making our stay so special. We have already looked at next year and we plan to return. We did make a couple of suggestions to improve the hotel even more when talking to Kerli. One is to utilise the beautiful gardens even more by putting more seating for clients to enjoy the wonderful plants and to label those plants and flowers. Secondly, perhaps have lighting on the tables in the amazing Taboras Restaurant to make an even more intimate dining setting but these are not criticisms just thoughts shared with Kerli. Our final thought is that if you want to relax,be pampered and be in paradise, come here. It is truly wonderful Mike and Julie Ward
The location of hotel and access to beach. Size of the room and views. Friendly reception staff. Room service and cleaning facilities. Parking. Very secure.
For fairmont hotel it was not to the standards in keeping with other locations globally. Rooms needs updating and bathrooms need repairs. Breakfast was same everyday and the staff seem over worked and stressed and unhappy. For an international hotel very limited vegetarian options for breakfast as well other meals in the various restaurants within the hotel. Over priced food with basic quality food. Didn't seem be willing to accommodate dietary needs. Not value for money.
A wonderful hotel, staff is amazing, beach is one of the best in the whole world. Very relaxing, we came as a family and everyone enjoyed the stay. Would definitely return back
We recently stayed at the Fairmont Royal Pavilion and had a mixed but overall pleasant experience. The highlight was definitely the beach. Absolutely beautiful with calm turquoise water and a great stretch of sand. The restaurants were also very good and we enjoyed the food throughout the stay. The gym was excellent as well and very well equipped with Technogym equipment, which was a nice bonus. That said, there were several issues that made the stay disappointing given the price point. The AC in our room was not working properly and leaked water onto the floor. The first night was uncomfortably hot and I barely slept. Unfortunately, the bed and pillows did not help much either. The mattress was firm but oddly unsupportive, and the pillows were far too soft for my liking. Some areas of the hotel also feel dated and could really use renovation. At around $700 per night, the overall experience simply did not feel like a good value compared to other luxury properties. The staff, however, were genuinely lovely across the property. Everyone was warm and helpful, and the beach server in particular worked incredibly hard all day long. Honestly, they could really use another server or two because one person was clearly covering a lot. Overall, the setting and service culture are excellent, but the room comfort, maintenance issues, and value proposition took away from what could have been a truly outstanding stay.
I have absolutely no idea which hotel these people have been to. We have recently retuned from a 10 night stay at the Fairmont Royal Pavilion on a B&B basis. We found the breakfasts to have a huge selection which were all very nice indeed. We did not meet any staff who were either rude or miserable in fact quite the opposite. All of the staff that we met were happy in their work and only too pleased to have a chat and a laugh with and this is without exception. I agree that the exterior of the hotel needs updating especially around the pool area but the bedrooms were lovely and clean and very pleasant. We did not sunbathe on the beach areas but we clearly saw a number of sun beds that were available for us to use if required. We spent most of our time around the pool and at times there was perhaps a maximum of 12 people using this facility so plenty of sun beds available there also. All in all we had a wonderful time at the Fairmont and would definitely return.
We visited for 5 nights from March 15-20,2026. We had 2 rooms. 1 “Beachfront king suite with Butler service” plus an “Oceanfront 2 Twin room” for my 18 and 20 yr old children. The total price for the hotel rooms alone was just over $20,000 for 5 nights. So we’re paying $4000 a night for the four of us to be there not including food (breakfast was included). For those prices, you would think accommodations and service would be top-notch. Not so much. Over all the rooms are disappointing for a luxury resort. Even taking into account the havoc that the Caribbean can have on furniture and fixtures, the maintenance department should be able to touch up/replace things as needed. See attached pictures from so-called “oceanfront butler suite”. Our AC unit was damaged and it was leaking the entire time. Huge puddles on our floor at all times. They had to bring us extra towels to try and keep the floor dry. The water had seeped into the wood cabinet next to it and it was all rotted out. Pretty unacceptable for a luxury resort. The fact that there is no spa on site is very disappointing. This is something that should have been added over the years. Also, we have never been to a Caribbean resort that does not have live entertainment in the evenings. There is nothing to do past dinner and for guests who like to stay up and have an after dinner cocktail or coffee; the atmosphere is drab and dead. The food at the resort was good, especially the breakfast. We were very happy with almost everything we ate at the hotel. However, the wine selections could use some improvement. Also, occasionally at the bar, they did not have premium liquors such as Grey Goose. Overall, the service was decent. But this is where you notice it’s not a true luxury resort. (I was born in Barbados so I love the island and people, but the staff almost everywhere you go is super snobby and not very nice to tourists). Generally staff makes you feel like an inconvenience all over the island. It was the same at the Fairmont with the exception of a few bartenders and servers. The housekeeping staff was very friendly as well but they do not have a general hospitality/ top notch customer service vibe that you would receive at a Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, or Sandy Lane etc. Overall, the location is fantastic and the hotel is historic and beautiful. You can’t beat the turquoise water! We would definitely come back if some improvements were made!
Beautiful beachfront location with the best breakfast
Breakfast was excellent as was room and service
The cost
After much research, I booked Fairmont for my family. I felt extremely expensive, but it was very last minute and I was able to find two rooms connecting. They guarantee connecting rooms if you book using their family offer. We loved our stay! The people are so friendly, rooms were quite nice with a big balcony overlooking the ocean. Housekeeping was everyday with turndown service. There were unlimited bottles of water should you need them. Pool service and food was good, and daily included breakfast in the restaurant was plenty. We had to think of nothing and plan nothing during our stay. Parking is free. For water sports you have to go to the nearby Beach Club which is not far, walking distance right by the parking lot. The people here are so nice and really want you to have a good stay. The pool was quite good and deep. While most people hung around the pool, nobody really went in so we had plenty of space to ourselves. The beach was serviced all day and you didn't really have to fight for space, there were enough chairs. We had a wonderful and relaxing stay. We had only 4 days and were so happy with our stay here. The beach service does need work though. After a time, they get incredibly slow to bring food and drinks. We had to wait for over an hour and went to the pool area just to get food since everything was so slow. By evening they also stop servicing and setting up the chairs. Their internet is spotty especially on the beach and some other places which I really hope they fix. We did venture out of the hotel one day for nearby attractions, and mostly went out to eat due to boredom from eating in their restaurant daily, but you could really spend all your time here and not go out at all. Limegrove mall, really beautiful but highly expensive, is a 10-minute drive. You don't need a car but I am not sure how cheap it is to get a taxi or uber. Car rental was pricey but we liked the freedom of movement and liked eating out everyday. A lot of nice restaurants are within 10 minutes driving distance. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel. It is very pricey yes, but worth it. The store in the hotel is quite good and well-priced compared with Limegrove mall. However, the woman keeps telling everyone that it is locally-made which is not true if you look at labels. A lot of the stores in general here say everything is locally made but it is clearly not.
The hotel is run down, almost delapidated and is in need of modernisation. Comfortable bed and great view from room. We didn’t enjoy our stay. Apart from the room cleaners who were excellent and three particular staff members this hotel is possibly the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. And in my 77 years I’ve stayed at hundreds. • Service, slovenly • Food, mediocre • Beach good • One particular lady on reception, dreadful (through my invoice at me) On arival they take credit or debit card for authorization to cover any incidental charges during our stay. Of course the alternative option is for guests to ‘pay as they go’, certainly a lot more reliable and less open to abuse.. The y have overcharged me 3,940.08 BD and Im having difficulty getting my money back .... dreadful. And its not a staff problem, it’s a management failure. No leadership .....
We actually stated next door via Airbnb, but I have to mention these guys. The staff! They would actually be therapy! Their sincerity, smiling faces and general demeanour alone was spellbinding, but their obvious pride in the island and affection for their colleagues is a life-long memory for me. Thank you 🙏
The hotel needs total updating and appears very tired. Comfortable bed and great view from room. However, the staff was very aloof and sometimes rude. Food was very subpar and we ate out during most of our stay. Thank goodness someone told us about the Lonestar restaurant down the beach. Get the crab salad!! It was wonderful! If you get a chance, get a foot massage from Dr. Kool who operates on the beach. There is no on site spa at the hotel.
First of all my husband and I have stayed at many Fairmont locations before and so expected a lovely experience but that was not the case here at all. We had an ocean front room with deck on the first floor and the views and location right on the beach was the best part of the whole experience here. The rooms are dated: chips and paint blotches on furniture, mold in bathroom on shower stall and bath tub. Food in the restaurants was also disappointing. Breakfast was the same buffet each day with some minor changes but not very appetizing considering we had coconut chia for 10 days straight, bread that some days wasn't fresh, fruit that had such hard pieces we couldn't eat them. The Beach Grill was so bad we never returned. Service was extremely slow and again the food was poor; the salad had very little dressing on it and not much besides lettuce and a few pieces of tomato, the grilled veggie wrap consisted of big chunks of beets and one other white root vegetable and it was very bland, fries were greasy with not much flavour. The Taboras Restaurant again had very slow service even though they weren't that busy. It took 15 minutes to get a drink order, it was a one hour wait for our food with no explanation as to why things were taking so long even though the waitress had told us it would be a short wait. Food choices at this restaurant are also limited and seem to stay the same each day ( no vegan options) what we did get was fair. Room service menu and Taboras food is almost identical , so not much options there. Palm Terrace is the same menu each day also and it is only open certain days of the week. The fact that this restaurant is the same location as breakfast with mismatched chairs and tables makes it not worth the price or upscale as it is advertised. During our 10 day stay we ate lunch and dinner outside the hotel for the majority of our trip. We did have two days of windy weather and the hotel removed the floating dock and round float that was anchored in the water for people to use on the beach. Those floats were never returned for use during the last week of our holiday even though weather conditions were fine and staff said it would be returned but that never happened. By the end of our trip the only staff members who really helped make our trip a bit more comfortable where Tia at the front desk, Renico and Dawn who were butlers that really understood our issues and tried to help fix things. This hotel should not be a Fairmont and definitely not be considered a 5 star resort especially since we found the high price not worth the average experience we had at this hotel.
Lovely location, lovely staff (especially Tia at the concierge desk who was so lovely & helpful) hotel overall was tired (although rooms nice) restaurants limited.
Feb.14, 2026 We arrived at airport and no Fairmont representative to greet us and take us through the Fast Track at customs nor a car waiting to take us to the hotel which was included in our hotel package. We found an airport representative, and they had a list showing our arrival that day and it said “No FastTrack” beside our name. The airport rep called the hotel and was told FastTrack and transportation to the hotel was not included in our package. We were told to take a taxi with no mention of reimbursement. We arrive at the hotel and check in after a tiring day. No mention or apology for these mishaps. We were offered a welcome drink which we accepted, this never arrived and we were escorted to our room. The next day I approached the front desk and asked what happened and I was told that they were never given our flight details. Our travel agent stated to us that these were given quite some time ago. The person at the front desk says maybe they were sent to the “Reservations” email. They seem to be very poorly organized. Why wouldn’t Reservations forward the information directly to the hotel if this was the case? After some prodding by our travel agent, they reimbursed our taxi expense and sent some sort of standard apology template done on a computer. A sincere handwritten apology would have been appreciated. Next, we had made a reservation at the hotel restaurant Taboras for 6:30 that night. We arrived on time at the reception station but were basically ignored for about 15 minutes. They weren’t that busy. We were seated at a table, and we ordered a drink first; it took almost 20-30 minutes before it arrived. Once it arrived we ordered our dinner. This took about an hour to arrive. Again, they were not that busy but were totally disorganized. We kept asking where our food is and received various conflicting replies. We received our food at about 8pm. The quality of our food was fair at best (the chicken & vegetable spring rolls were greasy and appeared to have no vegetables in them). The next day (Sunday) we went to the hotel’s Beach Club Bar and Grill for lunch. We arrived at 12:10 and were assigned a table very quickly. We ordered a drink which took 15-20 minutes to arrive and then ordered our food which arrived at 1:20pm. Salad had very little dressing on it. Staff were hard to speak with as they were too busy and when I asked why service was so slow, the response was, “it was because of the brunch being served it the main hotel restaurant. He also said to try again at another time and hopefully we will have a better experience”. After this we ate dinner outside the resort every night except one and we had great experiences with the outside restaurants in Barbados. Another issue was the difficulty in getting ice. The nearby ice machine was broken the entire time we were there (10 days) and when we set up for ice for each evening, it never arrived. We also arranged for coffee each day at 9:30am, which also didn’t arrive. Fortunately ,we had the butler service, and they followed up and immediately brought coffee to our room. On a positive note, our butlers Dawn and Renico were very responsive and did everything possible to improve our stay, we really appreciated their service . On our last day we noticed that the spare roll of toilet paper and spare Kleenex box (ours was almost empty) were removed. Did they think we were going to take them? This is very poor form on the part of the hotel! We had to call to have them returned. This hotel does not deserve to be a Fairmont hotel. Service is spotty, the rooms are old and in need of renovating, we took pictures as examples. The best thing about this hotel is being right on the beach with great views. Considering the high cost of our suite we felt robbed in that we did not receive nearly the value for the money we paid.
The location was nice. But the hotel really needs to step it up to be a high-value, pricey resort. And it is very expensive. The staff was friendly and tried to be responsive, but the service was not good. The wait for coffee at breakfast was ridiculous. Same with trying to sit down at a table at the bar for cocktails. The hot tub was lukewarm, despite repeated requests to turn up the heat. No spa. Someone knocked on my door at 9:45 for turndown service. Hard to say if management just doesn't want to spend the money to develop an A game.
Wow what a fantastic location. The view from every room is sea facing and the beach to view or walk is simply wonderful. Idyllic! BUT….. the hotel is tired and needs a serious refresh to make it 5 star! From a people perspective most staff are very attentive to guests needs although it was clearly evident that ‘extra’ attention was made to the ‘club’ members! By club I mean the clique that existed during the week of our stay. Not every guest wishes to be in the clique but it felt uncomfortable on occasions. This was particularly evident at the pool and bar area where the familiarity of guests in the clique and staff was astonishing. We also noted a couple in the clique pouring their own alcohol at the pool area (unknowingly to staff!) albeit they had wonderful attention from the motel staff including managers.
An honest review from returning guests – loyalty earned, investment now required This review comes from a couple who have stayed at Fairmont Royal Pavilion for the past three years. First and foremost: the staff. They are, quite simply, exemplary. From the gardeners through to management, (special mention, the new guy in food and beverage) the team here is exceptional. I hesitate to name individuals because doing so risks missing others who deserve equal recognition, but special mention must go to St Claire, Nicolas, Kyle, Jalisa, Antoine, Dario, Ashlee and Sabrina. Their warmth, professionalism and genuine care elevate the entire experience and are the true reason we return. The hotel itself enjoys a sensational coastal position. The stretch of beach is extensive, pristine and effectively inaccessible to non-guests due to the way the sea meets private property at both ends. This creates a sense of exclusivity that is increasingly rare — and deeply valued. And now, the dilemma. The Royal Pavilion is made special by its location and, above all, by its people — but the physical fabric of the hotel is in need of attention. The rooms face unrivalled, breathtaking views and are generously proportioned. However, they would benefit enormously from a comprehensive refresh. A deep clean, upholstery steaming and routine maintenance in each room would make a noticeable and immediate difference. As one example, our room fridge has never had a functioning cold drawer across all three of our stays. At breakfast, some chairs are plump and comfortable, while others are sunken or showing torn fabric — small details, but details that matter at this level. We were not alone in these observations. Many guests we spoke with expressed similar views. Accor should consider itself exceptionally fortunate to have such a loyal, long-standing team — many of whom remember us from previous visits. With so many familiar faces year after year, the hotel feels more like a private club than a bland, faceless chain. But this is a five-star property, marketed as luxury — and Accor should be taking note. Would we stay again? Without hesitation. Would we write the same review again if nothing changes? Regrettably, yes — just as quickly. Accor: this hotel deserves investment. Not only for the guest experience, but for the remarkable staff who carry the brand every single day.
Aan het strand
5 sterren hotel maar eigen 3/4 sterren
Strand zwembad
Prijskwaliteit Zwaar onder de maat 1100 euro per nacht betaald je verwacht daar een excellent hotel maar dat valt zwaar tegen
West coast beach location was great. Hotel provides wonderful service. TV includes FOX News! Restaurants all very nice.
Jacuzzi was not hot. Rooms need an update.
We ended our three week trip to Barbados here in a Beachfront king room for eight nights and were pleased. Twice daily housekeeping is terrific supplying plenty of towels and waters. The pool and beach staff are attentive too though it would be better if the jacuzzi was actually hot. The included buffet breakfast is good with many options and helpful service. We dined many times at Taboras and were very happy they revised the prior menu. The TV now included our favorite FOX News channel which most Americans watch, and just enough others for NFL games. Sadly the beach walk can no longer easily reach to Holetown given the conditions at neighboring villas. We enjoyed our stay though we do agree that the rooms need an update.
Well done! Special thanks to the chef and the restaurant staff at Fairmont Royal Pavillion. This is my second time eating there and the food and service was top notch. Best Buttermilk chicken in Barbados! :) Highly recommended.
This was probably the best customer service I have ever received in all the hotels I’ve stayed in around the world. The staff really seem to enjoy their jobs, from the cleaners and the gardeners to the hotel manager. The food quality was also truly 5-star. Sometimes a 5-star hotel can have 4- or even 3-star food, but that wasn't the case here. The restaurant for breakfast and dinner was majestic, with breathtaking views of the ocean. After we finished eating, we would sometimes sit there for up to an hour because it was so relaxing. We originally stayed on the middle floor, which had an amazing view, but we moved to the ground floor and found it much easier to access the beach directly from the back of the room. The beach is exactly what you see in posters of the Caribbean: light blue water and almost white sand. The beach and water are very well-maintained, with soft sand and no sharp coral. There were no pushy salespeople trying to sell you things; they politely just walk past. With a very decent clientele and a great atmosphere around the hotel, I was impressed and would definitely go back!
Some things excellent, a few things not. The location is outstanding, the beach is flat, the waves slight and ideal for swimming. The beach can be reached with a short walk from any room. The hotel is small, it has a village or club feel and a nice ambiance. The greeting on arrival was pleasant, professional, quick, and despite an early arrival (1:30pm - arrival time is 4pm) our room was ready immediately. The concierge service is excellent and cars are always available (at a price). The only negatives were the restaurant and breakfast. There was a wait for seating every morning at breakfast, despite tables being free. Tables could have been cleared, and all guests seated immediately, the number of guests arriving was not high. The greeter was often absent, and very focused on sitting some guests at the tables next to the sea. One can only speculate why. Similar story at night in the Taboreais restaurant in the evening. Seating was a problem, some visitors seem to have a fast track. Better managed at lunchtime. On one occasion in the afternoon the food was very slow, on another prompt. Seating was better managed. The good news is that there are a large number of great restaurants near by, often walking distance, and the concierge will book them for you. All had superior food to the hotel. Check out time is mean at 11am. The BA flight to London needs a 2:30pm hotel departure. We were refused a 2pm extension but given 12;30. Meaning a ‘package holiday’ end to our vacation with cases packed, sitting in the heat. I would stay here again, the location is world class, service very good, except for my frustration with breakfast, and seating at restaurants. Maybe I caught them on a bad day. Accor can certainly run good hotels, so maybe they will fix the seating problems. By the way. Dont book directly. Good deals are probably available through your travel agent.
Superb location Friendly and helpful staff Beautiful rooms and well kept grounds Nice cocktails Plentiful toiletries in the rooms Welcomed coffee machine
Where should I begin ? I did extensive (hours and hours!!) research on all the 5 star hotels on the West Coast prior to booking and so glad we chose the Fairmont, we had the most amazing 7 nights (definitely not long enough!). As a family we had 2 rooms, both rooms were spotlessly clean, soft fluffy towels, comfiest beds and linen. Every member of staff provided exceptional service and all with a friendly smile and nothing is too much trouble. The view from our rooms, the beach every single thing we could not fault, we will definitely be back. Thank you Fairmont Royal Pavilion for the unforgettable memories. (I think you can tell we had the best time.)
Overall we enjoyed our stay. Rooms and exterior of hotel painted last year so all looks fresh. However the rooms and bathrooms in particular need renovating. All perfectly usable but in our opinion not 5 star in it's current form. We had a ground floor ocean suite and it is worth the extra money to walk out on to the private deck and beach. Included is butler service and both Dawn and Renico were great. Views over the ocean from palm restaurant were beautiful. Hopefully when the new general manager is in place and the bathrooms in particular renovated this will again be a special hotel with its setting right on the beach. Would recommend
Overall we had a very nice stay at the Fairmont Royal Pavilion. We stayed in a beachfront suite, which had its own little deck and lounger area looking over the water. We really enjoyed easily being able to pop back into our room for things and having designated loungers. Michael was great and friendly helping set up our loungers each morning and making sure we had towels. He also would walk by and make sure we didn't need anything else throughout the day. The room itself could use a little updating. The couch and carpet had some staining and a tile in the shower was broken, but the rooms were very clean and housekeeping made sure we had anything we needed throughout the week from extra pillows to tea. Where the hotel really shines is its employees. From Ashlee in the restaurant with her welcoming smile morning or night, to Nicole and Crystal taking care of us on the beach, to our butler Renico who was so nice and always happy to help, everyone was great to interact with. Renico always checked in with us, made sure our afternoon tea was delivered daily, provided recommendations of places to see on the island, as well as giving us a map. He is a real asset to the hotel. The hotel is conveniently located. You can walk to Lone Star for a great meal, or a short taxi ride to Holetown and many other restaurants. Overall I would recommend this hotel, but with a few updates it would really be top notch.
We have stayed at the Fairmont in Barbados 29 times since 2006 - the staff are so lovely. From the warmest of welcomes when you arrive to the friendly chats during your stay. They really make the stay. The beach guys cannot do enough for you. Special call out to Michael Sealy, Odvin, Twanda, Deirdrianna, Leroy, David, St Clair, Andre, Ralph, Sabrina, Alison, Shane, Ryan and Nathan. And most of all the best housekeeper ever - Serina! Looking forward to come back soon.
The majority of staff at this hotel must be costing the business millions in repeat bookings. Hardly any staff smile at you, you are treated like an inconvenience despite being overly polite yourself. I think there are a few influential staff that make their understudies feel that it is 'not cool' to be friendly and accomodating - we won't be back, as I'm sure many other guests I've seen rolling their eyes at the lack of customer service won't either. There is one lady, I think she is called Alison, that served us at dinner pool restaurant who is very rude, she told us that a reservation was not a reservation, it was just to inform the restaurant who might be coming! She also scolded my wife at breakfast this morning for daring to suggest that the table.might be large enough for four "I do know what I am saying!" before slamming down place settings in a temper - she is called Alison, I guess that she has lots of complaints made about her, I wouldn't pay her in washers...
I’ll be honest and frank with this. Chose this hotel because our cruise line (Seabourn) recommended it. $1500 plus a night for our two night stay. Firstly the room: King bed oceanfront. Nice room, comfortable and clean, certainly not outstanding in any way, view is lovely. Kettle don’t work in room and no room service menu. I asked a total of FIVE times for one to be provided. Still did not get one. Pool restaurant: Went there at 5.30pm, barely greeted by hostess, told to sit at a table that had no chairs.. Ordered food. Two appetizers and two cokes came to $188!!!!!!’ Food ordered. Nachos and crab cakes. Breakfast Buffett: Nice location and view . That’s the good part. Went to station to order eggs . Omelette took twenty mins to appear, husband two ro eggs took over thirty. Tea was lukewarm. Ketchup took a while to appear Breakfast was included and I’m glad it was. $160 was the charge if we didn’t have it included. Room service: just ordered two burgers and fries with two cokes. $168 for two burgers. Food was inedible. I’ve had better food from a gas station. All in all this hotel is below average in the service and food areas. Way too high prices for food that honestly isn’t up to McDonald’s standards if I’m being totally truthful. Staff are polite and pool guys are attentive BUT service is lacking in many areas and I would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone. Overpriced and underdeliver comes to mind
Just had a cheeky pre Christmas 8 days in the sun at Fairmont.. The staff were great .. big shout out to Nicole and Rea who looked after us on the beach and Michael who set up the chairs each day. Fabulous beach and swim area … rooms very tidy each day with turndown. Sadly the only meal we had in the main restaurant Palm Terrace was breakfast on the day we left … no explanation provided. Also managed to delay room by 1 hour so only had to hang around for 90 minutes until taxi but no courtesy room for departing guests is a first. Overall though would go back
We have just returned after another excellent stay at The Fairmont Royal Pavilion in Barbados. The hotel has a wonderful location right on what is the best beach on the west coast. We were again Royally looked after by Michael Sealy, who surly needs to be made the New General Manager. Assisted by many of staff, the hotel does all it can to provide you with the perfect holiday, and we look forward to returning again next year.
We just returned from a 7 nights to celebrate my birthday and our 40th wedding anniversary. The property is absolutely beautiful—small, intimate, right on the ocean with a lovely beach and great views. Service was wonderful throughout, and housekeeping twice a day kept everything spotless. Transfers were included both ways. Departure was smooth, but arrival was messy. There was confusion and some chaos, and the team had to find alternative transportation instead of the prearranged transfer being ready. Check-in also didn’t hit the mark. After a long travel day, not receiving the welcome drink that was meant to be offered didn’t set the right tone. We followed up the next day and received it then. The Palm Terrace restaurant was closed with no advance notice, which left only one restaurant open. While breakfast was excellent, the main menu became repetitive and the food overall was just average. We did have a pre-booked private dinner on the beach for our anniversary, and that was fantastic—great food and attentive service. We booked a beachfront suite that advertised a butler, daily canapés, and afternoon tea. These perks were disappointing. The butlers appeared inconsistently, the canapés were poor, and the tea was mediocre. At this price point, these extras need to be much better—or not offered at all. Overall, it’s a gorgeous property in a stunning location, and we would return—but only after confirming Palm Terrace is operating. For a quiet getaway in a beautiful setting, it’s a lovely choice as long as expectations are set correctly.
Love this hotel, it’s located on the best beach in Barbados and I always leave wanting to come back for more. The staff are warm and friendly and despite the fact that they do not currently have a general manager the management team were doing a sterling job. It’s a pity that the Palm Terrace was out of action because of structural problems but that said breakfast in The Taboras, ocean front, is just perfect. As there are so many great restaurants on the island we only ate at the hotel a couple of times but each time the service and food were great. They did a superb job of serving up a delicious tuna tartare and seared tuna with chips and salad caught that day on a fishing trip. The rooms were fresh and clean every day just have to make sure to keep your door closed when the air con is on to prevent excessive condensation from the outside humidity. I do love hearing the sound of the waves! The most important factor at this hotel is the beach with everyone room ocean facing. White sand and turquoise waters with beach waiters at your service. I hope I will still be visiting for another 20 years.
Great location. Sea and beach area superb. We had a ground floor suite and the room was superb with a great deck and on the beach. It was also very quiet at night (the aircon was noisy but we slept well with it off) Breakfast choice was very good and was included in our daily rate. Some Water sports for free which we used each day and well run by Ryan and Derrick who were always very attentive. The Butler service we didnt really use as we are able to book things online eg Uber are now active in Barbados and Opentable for restaurants etc. So the reason it was average when it really should have been outstanding was the level of service. When you book a 5 star hotel at E1,000 per night you expect the staff to care for you to a decent level and u expect service from all with a smile. It was so hit and miss. Some were a pleasure to deal with and were professional and caring but all too often you were made to feel you were either interrupting the staffs own fun time or you were an inconvenience. Such a pity as we understand the Caribbean culture is to be relaxed but the lack of consistent service was a huge disappointment. You pay 5 star rates not 3 star so u expect decent friendly service. For example pre dinner drinks can take an age as nobody seems to want to take the order. We only ate once other than breakfast as so many of the restaurants nearby have decent service eg Nauti HQ
Had a Wonderful time at the Fairmont, the Staff were so welcoming and friendly, the service was excellent and the staff all knew my name, was nervous as a solo traveller as this kind of resort is full of couples but was absolutely comfortable. The BeachFront suites are exquisite with direct beach access. Cleanliness was impeccable.. only slight negative, no shops within walking distance, need to get a cab to shops for essentials and on the pricier side.
Breakfast was very good, great produce, freshly cooked, fresh omelette, eggs any way, staff were very good, located a small beach walk from the Lone Star which has excellent food and worth a visit if you can book early
A little tired in area’s, air con machine was a bit noisy and switched off at night, a good fan which wasn’t noisy but would need air con in hotter weather
Just had the most amazing three weeks holiday at this wonderful hotel. All the staff were amazing and did everything possible to make our trip enjoyable. Whilst there we celebrated our golden wedding anniversary and they did everything possible to make sure we had a day to remember. The location of this hotel cannot be beaten anywhere on the island. Cannot wait for our next trip to this magical place
Prime location on the west side of the island. One of the most beautiful turquoise beaches steps outside our room. Couldn't make it more easy to relax and unwind! Loved waking up each morning to this view. Dawn and Renico provided great deck service for anything we needed. Concierge Tia helped make dinner reservations and plan outings to Harrison Caves and Cool Runnings Catamaran Tour. Rooms were cleaned daily including a turn down service in the evenings. Shanese was amazing! We had complimentary use of the paddle boards, Hobie Cat and kayaks at The Beach Club. We enjoyed our last morning out on the water with Ryan. He made sure we went out before having to fly back home. We had no idea what a gem The Royal Pavilion was gonna be! Getting there from the airport may be a challenge if you drive yourself or expensive if you take a shuttle. The roads were busy with unclear signage so took us about an hour to arrive at the Fairmont after flying into Bridgeport. Still raving about our time there so hope to make it back again.
The Royal Pavilion is a lovely hotel. The views from the beachfront suites are extraordinary! The rooms are large, beds comfortable and the air conditioner is excellent. The bathroom was clean and the water pressure just right. Stepping out onto your own patio overlooking the water is dreamy. All of the staff members are extremely friendly and check-in to make sure that everything is going well. The hotel is about an hour away from the airport in traffic or about 45 minutes without traffic and is located on a beach that has lots of sea glass to collect and calm, warm water to enjoy. There was only one restaurant open on the property at the time we travelled. Breakfast was very good. The food for lunch and dinner was just OK. A bit bland, limited options and not to the standard of other Fairmont properties we have stayed at. There is an excellent option for dinner located a 3 minute walk away, called Lone Star. Get the lamb-- you won't regret it! The wine offerings at the hotel were good if you wanted to buy a bottle. They are expensive, but that is to be expected when purchasing from a hotel. It would be a similar price if I bought a bottle of wine at a restaurant in Canada. We were offered an all-inclusive add-on package priced at $240.00 USD per person, per day $480 USD total or about $670 CAD. This did not include any prosecco or champagnes by the glass, room service and only two lower-end wines by the glass and basic cocktails. The plan included 4 meals a day, which is a lot of food (too much fo us)! Apparently, there were some items on the menu that would be excluded from the AI plan, but I am not sure what they were as we did not go with that option. Since breakfast was included in our stay, we opted out and then calculated our expenses to see if we made the right choice. A typical lunch where we bought 1 sparkling water and 2 sandwiches would be about $80 CDN dollars with taxes and tip. A typical dinner, with a bottle of wine and 2 entrees would be about 250 CDN dollars. Extra drinks are about 15 CDN dollars per drink (beer is cheaper). We usually had a cocktail or beer before dinner. We spent about $350 CDN per day if we ate all our meals at the resort, so the all-inclusive option would not have given us any cost-savings. We found it much more affordable and enjoyed the variety of options available just to pay for the meals and drinks we wanted, plus we were able to have room service this way and eat on our beautiful deck overlooking the water. Also, Barbados has tons of great restaurants and this allowed us to get out and explore these options. We had a couples massage in our room that was both excellent and strange all at once. The actual massage itself was the perfect pressure and the therapists were very friendly. That being said, the therapists did not leave the room or even turn away when we were undressing to get on to the massage table. Since we were only in our underwear, that was a bit uncomfortable. Also, they did not have sheets to cover us, only towels, which is not to the standards of practise that we are used to in Canada. The so-called "butler service" was non-existent, for us at least. I tried to find a butler to help us book a massage the second day of our trip but there was no one to be found. I finally called and was told he would look into it but he never got back to me. The next day, a different butler came to say hello and we asked if the massage had been booked. He was not aware of the request but came back about an hour later to tell us it had been booked for 11:30. Although the "butlers" were friendly and liked to ask you about your day, we found no added value for this service that comes with the beachfront suites. The service at the restaurant was attentive and a good pace but if you wanted a drink at the bar or at the beach , be prepared to wait! We waited between 30 and 75 minutes for every drink we ordered throughout our stay, which seems like a long wait for a 5 star hotel. Even if we were the only ones at the bar, and actually sitting right at the bar, we still had to wait and wait and wait for a simple beer or glass of wine. The beer and wine were right there so I am not entirely sure why service was painfully slow. Everyone we spoke to felt that the wait times were very long for drinks, and many guests were annoyed. The plus side is, you are never going to have the problem of having "one too many" with the long wait times!!! 2 bottles of water per day are included with our room (one during the day and one at turn-down). Otherwise, you have to pay an outrageous amount for them. Some cocktails that I ordered were less expensive than a bottle of water. If I could have chosen, I would have found unlimited access to water bottles more valuable than butler service. While the tap water is safe to drink in Barbados, it did not agree with me and so I found that the only way to avoid feeling "off" was to purchase bottled water. For the price of the beachfront suite, I think including access to bottled water, free of charge, would be reasonable. If one wants to secure sun beds on the beach- they get taken quite quickly, I am an early riser and went for a walk everyday at 7am. I was encouraged to place some sunscreen or personal item on 2 loungers to secure my spot. When I came back before 8am, all the loungers had personal items on them. Anyone that came out at 9am or 10am would have difficulty getting a lounger on the beach-- and this is in the quiet season! In terms of entertainment, they have a singer during dinner and all of the singers were excellent. You can do non-motorized water sports for free but anything motorized you need to pay for. There were a lot of older people and people with young families. This is a quiet resort with no night scene, so if you are looking for lots of evening entertainment or a vibrant bar scene after dinner, this is not the place for you. Overall , the warmth and kindness of the people we encountered is what would bring us back. Every hostess, server, housekeeper, beach attendant was extremely attentive, kind and engaging. The rooms are beautiful, the beach is one of the best on the island and the proximity to other restaurants is excellent. Despite some issues, we would come back-- but next time we will stop at the duty free and get our own drinks so we don't have to wait at the bar.
We stayed at the Fairmont Royal Pavilion for one day as a stopover on our way back from Grenada. Having spent a week here last year and 10 days the year before, it’s a place we’ve always returned to because of the exceptional staff and stunning beachfront setting. Special thanks to Ryan and Derrick, who once again went out of their way to make us feel welcome — their warmth and professionalism really make a difference. That said, the property feels a little less well maintained than before. There was no one to meet our taxi on arrival, and a few areas of the hotel could benefit from refurbishment and renewed investment. We also felt the breakfast, which has always been a highlight in the past, didn’t taste quite as good this time. Despite these small disappointments, we still have great affection for the Fairmont Royal Pavilion and hope to see it return to the standard that first made us fall in love with it.
Beware this hotel says it is a child free boutique hotel. We are here now and it has children everywhere and nothing for them to do. No childs pool, no kids club , no kids play area, no supervision on the beach. This hotel is not child friendly. And the adults only comment is not true!
So we have just arrived 28 th October … wow wow wow … I’m speechless .. we were picked up at the airport from the hotel straight through the security with our guide .. when we arrived at the hotel from the second we got out the car it was fabulous.. we were greeted with cold towels and welcome drinks the members of staff were so attentive to us made us so welcome … we then had the best surprise we had been upgraded to the most gorgeous beach suit and our butler dom took us to our room … well I was blown away it was beyond what you could of imagined .. straight onto the beach you could almost touch the sea .. the room is spotlessly clean beautiful bathroom .. tea coffee making facility we have a gorgeous lounge area .. stunning .. we had dinner last night here the food was amazing the catch of the day was so fresh .. again the staff went over and beyond to make our night feel special . We woke up this morning in paradise .. we had all fresh towels on our decking loungers and looked after by Shane he was so happy and looked after us got our sun loungers on the beach .. I honesty don’t think I will want to leave here .. great job to all at the royal fairmont we so excited to be here for our anniversary .. you are making it a dream .. Ruth & pat beach ❤️
This was our first visit to Barbados and we had an amazing time. From the time we stepped off the plane to the time we were dropped off at the airport the hospitality was excellent. We were greeted by the Fairmont Rep Julenka (my apologies for the misspelling), she escorted us through customs and waited with for our driver (Dean) and sent us off with two cold bottles of water. The drive and conversations were good to the Fairmont. We were greeted with cool towels and choice of refreshing drinks. Check-in was flawless. Shout to the butlers (Peter, Rolston, and Renicio) who took very good care of us. All servers at the restaurant greeted us with a smile and great customer service- shout out to Ashlee, Sabrina, Jalecia, and Malonika. We met a local artist and bought a piece of art. Ginger and Ninja (two local cats) were on their best behavior. St. Clair the bartender was on point with the drinks. Housekeeping and the turn down service kept our rooms clean and kept us replenished with bottles of water - shout out to Serena and Roberta. Even Santa Claus came to visit. Barbados greeted the Briscoe’s with a smile and open arms and sent us off with a smile and a hug.
Location, rooms, quiet
Overall good but service could be improved. On 3 occasions they forget to fulfil a simple request to bring an item to room.
Just returned from the Fairmont and just want to say to ignore the negative reviews, the hotel is amazing and the staff are incredible and all go out of their way to make your stay 10/10. The hotel kindly let us check in early and depart late, they also sent us a bottle of champagne following recently getting engaged. The rooms are great, views are unbeatable and the beach is lovely. I think the negative reviews are coming from people who are not used to Barbados pricing and hotels. Will definitely be back!
Warmly welcomed upon arrival and offered a welcome drink. I read the hotel was fully refurbished in 2017, well it most certainly needs another refurb. Breakfast rather disappointing and little effort is made to keep the birds off the food. Was surprised to see smoked salmon and charcuterie sitting out in the heat for hours.cereals are soft due to humidity, they should be offered in sealed containers or small individual packets. The egg station requires a thorough steam clean. Toaster is very poor and slow. Staff are mainly nice but the staff need to collect finished drinks etc regularly from around the pool. We had cups sat there for well over two hours and the hotel is not busy. The staff are too busy chatting at the bar. The pool toilets are not good, the floor and the mastic needs scrubbing, very poor indeed. The rooms are quite well appointed but again poor cleaning lets them down especially in the bathrooms our shower had very grubby mastic and the waste bin in the bathroom needs to be thrown out. Our room had a stained carpet , not pleasant to look at. Public areas also a little shabby but the gardens are well kept. Given the prices charged the hotel does not attain proper five star standards which is unusual for Fairmont. Would come again but only if improvements are made.
Just loved the hotel, paradise!
After reading a few of the not so great reviews, we were a little apprehensive for our 1st visit but it was fantastic. People had said it looks a little tired and I slightly agree but nothing major. We had a few issues with the lock on our door working but reception were super helpful and in the end up we moved rooms. We were gifted a bottle of Moët to apologise which was appreciated and a really nice touch. Breakfast had a great choice of items and the view over the beach is just perfect. The birds are cheeky though so think some covers would be useful to stop unwanted visitors. As we visited in off season, the hotel was lovely and quiet. Plenty of choice of sun beds around the pool or on the beach. Great pool guys. Ate room service and lunch once and plenty of choice and food nice. Both rooms were great. Incredible view of the beach from bed. Huge bed and most importantly powerful air con. Grounds were well maintained and we even had a family of monkeys visit 🍌 Happy hour 5.30-6.30 was brilliant and the best pina colada we’ve ever tasted. If we came again we would definitely return and quite possibly in off season.
Bookers Beware~ if you are looking for a great view and a truly Luxurious stay- this is not it. The view is great, But the property is in need of many renovations to qualify as Luxury. It’s an older property struggling to keep up. Most of the staff are exceptional. But it only takes one or two to ruin the vibe, which was our experience. In my opinion, the cost doesn’t match the quality/service.
The hotel fell short but the beach was amazing
Loved it.
We stayed at the Fairmont Pavilion in the off-season and honestly, I think we cracked the code. The beach was ours alone, not a selfie stick or inflatable flamingo in sight, and the pool was blissfully free of anyone attempting lengths. I’m sure in peak season it’s a different story, but having the place practically to ourselves felt like winning the holiday lottery. The staff were genuinely lovely, adding to that laid-back charm Barbados does so well. And the best bit? We enjoyed every moment without having to pay three times the price for Sandy Lane. Sometimes, being contrary pays off.
Not up to Fairmont standards. For the price you pay I’d expect a lot better. Just middle of the road.
I was staying for my honeymoon and paid for an upgraded to a Beachfront Suite (Room 116). Pre-Arrival Communication with the hotel in advance of arrive was terrible, I tried several times by phone and email, the only time I got an answer was when I complained via social media. Arrival Greeted at the airport and helped by a lovely team, and collected in a new BMW. All very smooth and lovely. Rooms The Beachfront Suite was very tired. The front door completely covered in dead flies. A decorator was painting over them on the neighbouring room door. There was also quite a gap around the door and so lots of insects / rain could easily enter as they are exposed, it also means a lot of noise travels. The double glazed sliding doors to the beachfront terrace were filled with condensation so you often could not see out of them even with curtains open. The bed was comfy and large, perhaps a superking. The TV system worked and the bathroom, whilst compact, was perfectly adequate. The kettle worked, but the ice bucket was not refilled by house keeping, you have to leave the building and walk across the yard to get ice. But as there are no cold drinks in the room it is odd to provide glasses and ice container. The furniture was very tired. The dresser is a white faux leather, so it is not very forgiving and is covered in nicks, marks, make up, stains. The tiled floor is cold and damp to touch. The rug contained extensive brown stains. The minibar is just an empty glass fridge in the middle of the room. The base of the wardrobes are mouldy/damp crumbling. The ceilings/walls/covings were stained and damp, with signs of damp bubbling. The paintings on the wall were damp and dis-cloured from damp. The mirrors were always covered in condensation. Water would pour from the air conditioning and so a towel needed to be kept on the floor to stop it getting slipery. Butler Team The head butler, Peter, is an absolute gentleman and professional. The other members very enthusiastic, but provided us with inaccurate information so we went out for dinner expecting a table reservation, waited in a queue for over two hours before returning to the hotel having not eaten. He had not checked the restaurant for us. Dining/Food The dining room was closed for refurbishment, even though no warning was given during the booking or even in the printed "welcome" letter on check in, so we went to the building site for breakfast to be told all meals were at the poolside restaurant - not exactually 5* luxury. Breakfast was a classic american buffet. Nothing wrong per say but nothing great. Evening meals also had to be in the same place, on the same wobbly and dated wicker garden furniture. Service was a little slow but the staff all very friendly. Unfortunately there were errors with our order on both nights. One night the "rare" steak came back well done, the second night the kebab was mistaken for a steak. Problems, but with a smile! Beach Club Essentially a car park shack. Not a nice / romantic / Caribbean shack, but literally a shack at the end of the dusty car park. Pool Very tired with missing tiles and very strong chlorine smell! Laundry Inaccurate in room information. Called for it to be collected late in the afternoon and was told to leave in bag at end of bed. It was not collected until 7am the following day (so woken up at 7am by house keeping) to then only be told they do not undertake it on site, and the offsite location is closed on a weekend and so it would not go off to be cleaned until the following day anyway! Overall Unfortunately the damp in the room, with its smell, was too much for us. After the second day of poor experience we liaised with the manager to request moving hotel. We established that the hotel was without a general manager as they are recruiting but the deputy manager was very understanding. We had a second night's troubled sleep in the damp and smelly room, and in the morning the manager agreed that she would arrange a full refund and we could check out and move to a different hotel. I continued to pay the two night's accommodation tax and for the (poor) meals consumed and was promised a refund in 3 - 5 working days. We are over two weeks later and I am still without a refund. American Express have tried contacting the hotel but they have no record of the agreement for us to check out early and to be refunded - even though this was by the deputy manager, in front of the reception team, the concierge, and Peter the Head Butler. As such I am still around £8,000 down. I have also found out that a friend had arranged for a bottle of champagne to greet us and paid $300, but it never materialised! I get the impression that it was a fantastic hotel, but it has been underinvested and is very tired, I also understand that they are seeking to be downgraded to 4* so as to lower expectations and are having staffing difficulties. I would recommend avoiding the hotel and staying at one of the many alternative 4 or 5* hotels in the areas.
Highly recommended. Visiting Barbados during its less busy season is perfect, as everything is easily accessible and available. The Fairmont offers a beach that is probably the nicest on the island
We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at Fairmont Royal Pavilion! It is a beautiful property right on the beach, very well maintained and staffed. Everyone we saw and spoke with was extremely respectful, professional, helpful, positive and pleasant. Staff went above and beyond in all areas of guest service!!
We loved our 7-night stay at The Fairmont Royal Pavilion in Barbados to celebrate our 15-year wedding anniversary. Our greeting upon arrival included a chilled towel and iced fruit punch served near the peaceful koi pond fountain. The oceanfront king room was modern and updated, with in-room air-con and ceiling fans in the room and on the balcony. We also had a mini fridge and lots of extra closet space and storage. The morning breakfast buffet at the Fairmont is first-class, with a large section of tropical fruits, juices, omelet station, hot dishes, and homemade breads and jams. The view from the hotel restaurant is less than 30 yards from the water. The breakfast buffet was included in our daily room rate. We also loved relaxing at the beautiful pool and jacuzzi, encircled by vast manicured gardens and lush palm trees. The property is located a short drive from Holetown in St. James parish, and we enjoyed visiting the Massey grocery store and several nice shops and restaurants in town. The beach water at the Fairmont was crystal clear, with no sargassum/seaweed issues. The rooms are quiet and well-insulated, and we did not experience any outside noise. The housekeeping service is provided twice per day (cleaning and turn down service. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.
My family and I just had a three week stay, in the beautiful Fairmont royal pavilion! From the minute we arrived, the staff were very attentive and friendly, a massive shout out to Tia on the guest relations, she went above and beyond to make sure we was comfortable, settled and made wonderful restaurant reservations for us all, which we enjoyed. The facilities at the hotel were perfect, our room was ocean facing which was stunning to wake up too, the breakfast had lots of nice options, to choose from and the staff that greeted us, were lovely and helpful! The lunch options were very tasty and catered to us, we are non pork eaters, so they had lots of nice options which we all enjoyed. The beach was by far, the best I've been too in the Carribean islands - stunning views, clear blue sea and white sand.... My daughter enjoyed the water sports, shout out to Ryan, who taught her how to water paddle! But what stood out to me the most was the warm friendly staff, who always greeted me with such kindness , smiles and made us all feel so welcome, The cleaning staff were also brilliant, a big shout to Shanese, who did an amazing job, providing us with clean towels, water bottles, and making our room fresh and tidy - she was amazing and lovely! Over all we had a wonderful holiday, and I hope to be visiting the Fairmont again in the near future. Much love from the Mete family in the UK xx
I think the property was great with good services and attentive workers. However , i feel it was bit overpriced not just for the room also for any extra services we were considering. As result we ended up doing lots of dining outside of the pavillio. And to our surprise we noticed other doing the same. Lol. Amazing 👏
Hi, this took me a while but it is never too late to speak of a good thing. My sister's birthday was on June 26th, and I wanted to treat her to something nice. I contacted Fairmont and received excellent service from my first call to Michael who made the reservation for three of us, as my daughter joined in the celebration. From the time we entered the property, we were warmly greeted by staff along the way, from the gateman to the gardener to the housekeeping lady who directed us where we should go. The atmosphere was very relaxing, and the breakfast selection was wide and tasty. to top it off, the staff, Sabrina and Shereece were very attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. We will certainly be back and will tell our friends about this lovely venue. A staycation is on the cards! thanks agaib to the wonderful staff, especially Michael -management, and Sabrina and Shereece in the restaurant.
Service was great.
Beautiful Hotel, on the beach, lovely atmosphere, super relaxing. We will be back
I’ve stayed at many resorts all over the world and the Fairmont was one of the best!! Everything thing was excellent!!
The staff was extremely friendly and very accommodating. They made sure our rooms were always clean and fully stocked with water, tea, towels, etc.
Great Beach
I am writing to share our recent experience during our stay at your property, where we booked two interconnecting Oceanfront Suites — the most premium accommodations available — with high expectations of a luxurious and relaxing visit. Unfortunately, the experience from start to finish was deeply frustrating and disappointing. As a frequent traveler who has stayed at numerous Accor properties — along with other leading luxury and business hotel brands around the world — I hold a strong appreciation for quality service and hospitality. Regrettably, what we encountered at the Fairmont Royal Pavilion fell well below even the most basic expectations. Check-in experience: After a long-haul flight, we arrived at the hotel (via their own airport pickup service), only to endure a slow, tedious check-in process. Once finally completed, we were asked to sit and wait for the butler to arrive and take us to our rooms. At this price point, and after such a journey, it’s unacceptable to be left sitting in the lobby because internal coordination is so poor. Surely if the hotel arranged our transfer, they knew when we were arriving and could’ve had the butler ready to greet us. It was an early sign of how the rest of the stay would unfold — disorganized, impersonal, and far from five-star. Rooms: - One of our suite doors did not open with a key till the last day of our stay. Despite repeated maintenance visits, the issue was never resolved, and we had to repeatedly explain the same problem. Even the housekeeping had to enter through the other room and butlers through the back door. - Each evening, we encountered drain flies and/or wasps in the bathroom. When flagged, the hotel dismissed it as “seasonal.” We were traveling with a young child and had to clear the insects every night ourselves before using to avoid the risk of stings. - Several power sockets did not work for basic amenities like the coffee machine and kettle. Even after supposed repairs, we had to use them on the floor to get them to function. - The air conditioning unit was poorly installed/maintained and leaked water onto the floor, causing us to trip multiple times. - Despite our request for twin beds for our teenage daughters in one of the rooms, we were told it was not possible, leaving one of them to sleep on an uncomfortable sofa bed. - Turn-down service was inconsistent — used coffee cups were not replaced. Room service trays were left out until the next housekeeping round, sometimes not cleared until late the next day. Facilities & Service: - Breakfast service was disappointing. Staff were disengaged, and we were seated in a corner with no fan “because of your big family,[of 5]” even though the restaurant was empty. - A simple request for a milkshake (banana milk) for our child — which had been accommodated the day before — was refused because “the bar is too far.” A stray cat attacked our 3-year-old under the breakfast table, and no staff offered help or showed concern. - The gym was in poor condition and unsupervised. Despite multiple requests for earlier housekeeping, it consistently arrived at 4pm or later. We shared several of these concerns with the duty manager, Jason, but his disinterested response suggested this feedback was not out of the ordinary. The property appears tired, in need of renovation, and the service culture falls well short of the standards I’ve come to expect from the Fairmont and Accor brands. At nearly £2,000 per night, we expected to feel welcomed, safe, and well cared for. Sadly, we experienced the opposite. I hope you take this feedback seriously and address the issues outlined — for the sake of future guests and the Fairmont brand.
Excellent
We return year upon year and brought friends this year to see why! From arrival our friends could see …the warm reception , the view from the top floor rooms, spacious balcony and furniture. The attentiveness from the staff is outstanding… St Clair, Andre, Ryan J, Jason, Nicole, Simon, beach club Ryan, Kerry and Carole Ann , and the management, to mention a few. The rooms are very comfortable and housekeeping do an amazing job. Breakfast is very good, lots of choices. Taboras is great evening restaurant and the decking area perfect for pre dinner drinks to watch the sunset. The beach is amazing and plenty of sun beds .
I enjoyed my stay at the Fairmont resort. The staff was amazing. My room had an amazing view of the beachm I will definitely come back again.
