Renaissance Toledo Downtown Hotel

Bathroom Floor was dirty and sticky. We left at 7am, never showered. Bathroom vanity was falling apart (2nd time we saw this same thing on a prior stay) Inside of bathroom vanity was filthy. We will never return again.

Not a whole lot, Room was average , no complementary Breakfast ?, which I get at Hilton Hotels, so I was disappointed on that ,they were out of coffee in the lobby every day and they were asked to refill but they acted like it was a major deal to do it so we just got coffee on the road ,

Very clean, bed was comfortable, the pet friendly aspect was wonderful! And it was walking distance to the venue

My dog barked for maybe 5-10 mins because there were children in the hallways throwing a ball and being noisy and I got a call from the desk about a noise complaint. No biggie

My experience with Valet was excellent. Tyler was very attentive and helped us along through the process with any questions that we had. Tyler seemed to also take really great care of my vehicle. My experience was a 10/10 and I am looking forward to coming back.

My experience at the Renaissance Hotel was nothing short of exceptional, and the valet service truly set the standard for excellence from the moment I arrived. The entire valet team was professional, attentive, welcoming, and incredibly efficient. Their level of service made me feel valued and completely taken care of. A very special recognition goes to Montay Burks, the manager, whose leadership was evident in every detail. Montay and his amazing team delivered first-class hospitality with warmth, confidence, and genuine care. Their energy, professionalism, and attention to detail elevated my entire hotel experience. It is rare to encounter a team that leaves such a lasting impression, but the valet staff at the Renaissance Hotel did exactly that. They did not simply park and retrieve my vehicle—they created a luxurious, seamless, and memorable experience. Montay Burks and his team are truly an outstanding representation of what exceptional hospitality should look like. Absolutely phenomenal service from beginning to end. Five stars are simply not enough!

Room was mostly clean, there was some dead bugs and dust bunnies that were in the room when we checked in. Otherwise the room was what we expected.

The room with a view is a view of buildings mostly. This is not what I thought I would be recieving. Incidental are not advised prior to booking, cost an extra $100. And the extra charge for the valet. Also the parking garage is across the street not on site.

I truly enjoyed my experience with every member of the hotel from the receptionist, down to the valet members and including the restaurant employees! Big shout out to r Juan the supervisor of valet, Anthony, monte the manger of the valet. All 3 were complete gentlemen and made me feel welcomed and celebrated on my birthday! I would definitely come back

Mia at the front desk made our stay amazing! She upgraded us (Titanium Elite member) to a king suite with a river view. It was a large room with a GORGEOUS view, both day and night, of the river and the city. We are doing a 9-day travel itinerary (part business, part personal), and decided to stop in Toledo on our way to Wisconsin from upstate New York. We were exhausted, and Mia's friendly attitude and willingness to upgrade us made our stay SO much more comfortable! So grateful! We had no idea that Toledo is such a nice city. There's a zoo, aquarium, science exhibition, good restaurants, and a beautiful riverwalk that must have cost a fortune to develop. The lights change every few seconds, the landscaping is well-done, and the Renaissance has the best location right on the Glass City RiverWalk. Ingrid checked us in and was helpful in pointing out different restaurants to eat in, and reminding us about the lounge that offers free breakfast and hors d'oeuvres. The lounge is stocked with every type of soft drink, water, and fruit juice you could think of! The robes are plush and soft. The only thing we noticed that wasn't great was the chairs at the table in the suite needed to be cleaned better. The rest of the room was spotless. We needed some more towels and pillows, and they were promptly delivered to our room. If you have room, bring a makeup mirror for better lighting. The bed was comfortable and there was a sofa bed too. The shower was great. Two televisions, coffee maker. Overall, we left wishing we could have spent more time in Toledo. If we ever come back, we'l'l definitely stay at the Renaissance!

Location and the valet parking.

I paid extra for Corner Room for the corner windows and I didn't get that room yet they said that I was technically in a corner room though it did not look like any of the pictures from booking.com

Noise festival outside window when I complained the following morning and booked out a day early no one contacted me.

I will start with the good. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. The hotel's shared spaces were artsy and attempted to reflect quality and city heritage. For the most part nice, however any positive thoughts I had about my stay at the hotel are dismissed by the fact that the hotel HAS NO ON SITE PARKING INCLUDED WITH THE PRICE OF YOUR STAY!!! A truely deceptive bait and switch, with no clear indication that such was the case when booking the room. In the amenities the hotel lists valet parking available at an additional cost. It does not mention that parking is unavailable. Parking will cost you $30 a day for valet. Your car will be kept across a large street in a parking facility. If you choose not to valet, that same parking garage will cost you $8 for 12 hrs with no return in and out for the day. There is a tunnel from the parking garage elevator to the adjacent building across the street and from that building a connection to the lower level of the Renaissance Hotel. It's about 5 minutes walking. I feel that at minimum the hotel should comp guests parking at the facility if they choose not to pay for valet. If I had known parking was not included I would NOT have chosen this hotel for my stay in Toledo! I feel I was lied to and that the issue caused me undue stress, financial worry, and physical exertion I did not need or want during my stay. I highly recommend you stay somewhere else.

The hotel and river walk are beautiful. The room was comfortable and clean, especially the bed.

One street over it’s surrounded by bad areas. We were almost robbed in the parking garage, the valet was expensive and took a while. The shower wasn’t very warm.

Within walking distance to so many things

Valet was swamped when we pulled in, but quickly took care of us. Later, I realized I had left a valuable in our car. Jake personally escorted me to the lot to find my car. Also want to compliment Robert at the front desk - so pleasant to engage with.

Modern. Great atmosphere. Restaurant and Food amazing.

Most of the staff was helpful but my check in experience with a man named Kenny was unpleasant and unprofessional. I waited too long before being acknowledged and he was extremely short with me and obviously agitated any time I had a question. I won’t be back just based on that interaction.

I was given a handicap room. The layout wasn’t even good for a handicap person. Too many issues to list. Called repeatedly and finally left a message. Of course they didn’t respond. At nearly 300 dollars a night you would think they would at least answer the phone. Never again. I’m 76 and have stayed in hotels all over the world. Never again with renaissance .

I have 1 RAVE REVIEW for MONTAY BURKS This gentleman is so extremely kind and a wonderful host. He helped us with our many heavy bags and would not accept any tip so I wanted to give him a huge shout out! The desk staff was also very nice and helpful! I do value trust in a review however and must be honest about my experience at this hotel: While the lobby was lovely, It was my experience that my room and another that I looked at was extremely dirty! The air conditioning was not working in the hotel during our stay which we accepted, they kindly gave us a fan to circulate some air. Although the air was very damp, smelly and unpleasant. The bathroom not clean, the carpet was not clean, the decor sparse and the sofa, chairs and table were quite filthy. The floors were slimy! I don’t want to have to say this but I feel it’s important. This staff and city of Toledo deserve something to be proud of and I strongly think Marriott/Bonvoy needs to gut this hotel and allow the staff paid leave while things are redone so they can return to a reputable establishment that they can be proud to welcome visitors of the area to and provide an enjoyable experience as I’ve had in many other Marriott/Bonvoy hotels. That’s all I have to say. Thank you for respectfully reading this review. Unfortunately I won’t be returning until this hotel does a serious remodel and can provide travelers with a clean and healthy stay.

The location is perfect. We come in from out of town at least once a year for Walleye and Mudhens games and we always stay at the Renaissance because it is conveniently located and we are able to walk to both!

There was no breakfast

I was having a terrible day but upon arriving at the hotel the valet Shar was so helpful and welcoming turning my mood around. I definitely plan on coming back and recommending it to others!!

I had a great experience at the Renaissance Toledo Downtown Hotel and wanted to give a quick shoutout to Tyler from the valet team. He was friendly, helpful, and made everything easy from the moment I arrived. Really solid service and a great first impression. The hotel itself was excellent. The views of the river and downtown were beautiful, and the food was genuinely impressive—everything tasted great and was well put together. Spending time in Toledo was a nice surprise too. Downtown has a lot of charm and made the trip even better. Overall, a really enjoyable stay with great service all around. I’d definitely come back.

Went down to to coffee at 9 AM And the free coffee was gone and they weren’t refilling

House keeping could have cleaned up the coffee spill that was left the first day, should have remade the bed and provide the extra towels we asked her directly for. Left the dirty coffee spilled washcloth and gave us just one.

I will be back. The hotel staff was nice and my room was clean. It was pretty cold and valet was busy however Bashir was patient and helped with finding a restaurant and was really nice.

Great customer service, my wife had trouble with the gate in the parking garage and the gentleman at the front desk gave us complimentary valet parking.

First, let me say that Mia at the front desk was fantastic. She was very kind and understanding and allowed me to check in early with no problem.

I had called several times asking for an early check-in since check-in was at 4 PM and I had a wedding at 4 PM. I kept getting the runaround and told to call back tomorrow. And then when I call back tomorrow, the person was not very professional or kind and said call back tomorrow. When I landed and called Saturday morning, the person on the phone simply said no you can’t check in early and almost hung up on me. My stay was fine, but was tainted by the rudeness and lack of customer service over the phone.

The interior lobby was beautiful and the view was amazing,

The room felt run down, the parking situation was AWFUL, and the interior lighting inside the room was terrible. We had the worst experience ever with guest's literally fighting (we called the front desk and they sent security up) and trying to access our adjoining door, all the while they smoked weed and it permeated the hall and our room. The $32 parking fee was way too high and we had to wait over 40 minutes to have our car brought around,

If you don’t have valet park for you, it’s a five minute walk to the hotel valet is $35. Breakfast is not included almost $200 a night and no breakfast is served to you. It gets charged to your room. Staff is pretty rude.

We were very pleased and surprised with the outstanding service of our bellhop Anthony. He was friendly and pleasant to talk to.

Great hotel with many amenities. Mia at the front desk is absolutely amazing, always willing to assist. Holly and Anna in the Executive Lounge are true servants at heart. What a great experience. I travel 200 + days per year- by far the best experience in the past 2 years.

Tyler at the valet lot was great. Room was very clean and fresh. Just down the street from Christmas lights in the park and overlooking the waterway.

Went to the heights with the family and had an amazing time great food. Chris the valet made it worth the experience . He is definitely funny from the moment I drove up he made me like family all around great people great personality very professional would definitely come back. I recently stayed at the Renaissance Toledo downtown Marriott and my experience with nothing short of exceptional from the moment I called to confirm my reservation the third shift team, especially Mary and Adrian set the tone for the amazing stay. Both of them were incredibly helpful, patient and welcoming over the phone and that same warmth carried over the moment I walked through the doors check-in was fast and effortless, and throughout my day that continue to go above and beyond every time I came into the lobby, they greeted me with genuine smiles at a level of hospitality that made me feel like family rather than a guest Mary and Adrian truly stood out and elevated my entire experience. They represent the best of what Marriott hospitality should be professional, personable, and committed to making guests feel at home, their kindness and attentiveness are a major asset to the Renaissance Toledo downtown and absolutely a big reason I’ll be returning. I highly recommend this hotel especially thanks to the outstanding third shift staff.

The Heights restaurant, amazing views but needs a more robust menu. Rooms, standard and ok even if the bathroom door blocks the shower entrance and barely clears the front of the toilet. Having to wait for an elevator for 20min bcuz they were closed off for the college football team in town no one cares about to get them to their rooms undisturbed, not thrilled about. Valet simply not pulling out cars around (2 requested 15min before needed) and having to walk to them ourselves in the range, unacceptable. Do better!

We had a great experience with James and Dre. The truck came back exactly how I left it, and they were very friendly. It took about 40 minutes to get the truck, however, we requested it right before 11am check out when it was their busiest time.

It was pretty

They didn’t have my room available at 8:30 pm ! They couldn’t find my reservation even tho I gave them the email . They still acted like I did something wrong . Staff lady who checked me in was not helpful, not empathetic and honestly set the mood for the rest of the night don’t get me started on the restaurant situation. Tho the manager of that was great .

We picked room as you had that little couch. My husband has to sleep in chair sitting up, but something more comfortable such as a recliner would help.
