La Puerta Roja Guest House

The place was super welcoming, the staff also very kind and available for any kind of support/ question. My room was perfect for my needs, a big comfortable bed, my own bathroom, everything clean and sanitised, and there is also a kitchen you can use anytime you want with a water dispenser. It was very close to the colonial zone so in a very safe neighbourhood.

Nothing was everything good.

Cheap room with fridge and cooking facilities - close to the only part of Santo Domingo worth visiting (zona colonial). Room was clean but run - down. Air con worked (but wasn’t necessary). Quiet location. Good if you want the local experience (no English spoken)

La atencion y comodidad

Very central, in Zona Colonial and steps away from El Malecon. Relatively safe to walk at night. Near restaurants and corner shops. My favorite was Konvite Haitian Restaurant.

Room was not available when we got there, hotel was overbooked, I tried to reserve in another hotel and surprisingly It had "available rooms". Total scam.

La ubicacion, este lugar es muy familiar muy tranquilo para dormir.

Es mi segunda vez en este lugar, todo estuvo bien especialmente el staff, el lugar es seguro incluyendo su area en las calles. El malecon esta mas o menos a 200 metros.

Personal muy amable y ubicación perfecta, a pocas cuadras de la calle principal, un paseo seguro si sales de noche. La cama era cómoda y la habitación tenía lo básico pero no necesitas más.

Ojalá que permitiesen pago con tajeta porque todo sería mas facil.

This is my second stay in Puerta Roja. For me it's the best budget accommodation in Punta Cana. Communication with the owner is very good, place is nice and have good A/C. Also Mayo working at the receptcion is nice and helpful. I definitely recommend the stay there !

Localisation parfaite pour être à proximité du quartier colonial et du Malecon sans payer une fortune! On peut y loger de façon très autonome, avec la cuisine commune, la buanderie sans frais supplémentaires et la terrasse partagée. Très tranquille compte tenu de sa localisation centrale.

Ménage vite fait dans la salle de bain (cheveux..) et même si tout le monde nettoyer ses choses dans une cuisine commune, un nettoyage quotidien ne serait pas de trop!

The welcome was very warm and they let us do the check in before the allowed time. The stuff was very very friendly and they made us feel like at home!

Cerca del centro y un lugar tranquilo. La habitación tiene aire acondicionado y las camas son nuevas.

Perfect location in a friendly neighborhood near everything, from a laundry mat and several colmados to pharmacies and historic landmarks.

Check-in was a bit cumbersome: the person supposed to check me in (Gustavo) was not there, and the bell was turned off, but I got in touch with the host via text, and she handled it.

die küche ist ein witz; die ganze nacht und den tag hindurch immer wieder ohrenbetäubender lärm von irgendeinem apparat, wschl eine wasserpumpe. ich habe kaum geschlafen. auch unter der woche hängen saufende leute vor der tür rum und grölen in der nacht.

Cute accommodation, with many colours and a lot of green 🌿 Decent room, good working AC, friendly but quiet staff.

The douche was very small

The accommodation was really good value for money considering that we had our own bathroom, kitchenette + a microwave, and AC. The common areas are nice and the atmosphere is very chill. There are lots of plants and cover and a fan in case it gets hot. The location is pretty good too: just west of the colonial zone but only by a couple streets. It still feels safe because there are lots of people about and shops.

There could have been some more utensils in our kitchenette and the cleanliness of the main kitchen could have been improved a bit too.

The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were super kind and friendly. The location was perfect with quick access to the colonial zone and city center. Picturesque and full of live.

The area is okay not too far from Zona colonial but this is probably the only positive thing to mention here.

Picture used to tell more than words but not here. The pictures are old furniture is missing and the room was not as described. The additional chairs are gone but now there is another messy mattress on the floor the lamp is partially working the bathroom would need a separation for the shower as the whole bathroom is wet after showering. Not even all: Room wasn’t really cleaned, the host was stepping with his dirty shoes in my bathroom, hairs in the bathroom, super noisy room with a water pump at the door which is super loud hard to even make a point.

The staff is really nice there. If you want something just to crash. Why not. But don't expect much. It is really simple. No toilet paper, hot water takes time to appear and it looks clean, but it's quite sticky. But the towel and sheets are nice and clean for sure.

If you want peace and quiet, it is no place for you. There is really noisy pump or what was it on the garden, which is also full of mosquitos and the room doesn't have a mosquito net. I did encounter two cockroaches, but I don't think it's their fault cause city is full of them. There was also some noisy electric box behind the paint too and the room is not isolated so you can hear everything from the house. It is really not good for work, or longer stay.

Comfortable, AC worked well. Drinking water was provided. Bed was not super comfy.

Location is just a few blocks from plaza de independencia which is really the end of the tourist district. So I had access to some more local bakeries and cafes but it felt a little less safe in that area.

My flight got in late so I didn't arrive to the hotel until 1am, and I so appreciate that there was someone waiting for me at the front desk at that late hour. The room was a phenomenal price, the AC was so amazing, bed was comfy, room was spacious with plenty of shelving/closet space too. The location was perfect-- super easy to walk to the Colonial Zone, and not too far from the airport either. Staff was very friendly & helpful! Muchas gracias!

My room was smaller than I was expecting, with no window. The kitchen was a shared kitchen and a bit messy.

Great location. Water available in the kitchen.

Bathroom is tiny specially the shower. They only accept cash payment which was not advised before arriving. Staff was not friendly.

The location is great and the staff is super friendly. It is a safe neighborhood with a colmado super closw. Luis Dias', a famous Dominican musician, old house is just around the corner.

The mattresses of the beds need to be changed or upgraded as they are a bit worn out.

I felt very welcome and save with having the host Juan around. He was very helpful. I like all the flowers and plants in the guesthouse. It made it look so cosy.

The mattress and sheets could be better

Location is fabulous, on the edge of Zona Colonial, a quick walk in to La ciudad and a safe neighbourhood. Panadaria on the corner and great colmados on the close corners. Overall the space is bright and nice with lots of plants and good common space if you want to hang and chat with other guests. Basic rooms, but they are clean with a/c and fans. Bathroom was clean also. Water cooler for common use. Friendly helpful staff.

The kitchen was not clean, we didn’t feel comfortable using it. Very specifically all the cupboard doors and handles had visible, accumulated grime. The fridge was worse. Inside and out. The water cooler was also in desperate need of cleaning. It would have been really to have a hand towel in the bathroom and something for the floor when exiting the shower. The bathroom door also needed a good scrub, it was white and also had visible accumulated grime on and around the handle The hallway between the common area and kitchen (with the doors to three of the rooms) is open air. A floor squeegee would be great when it’s raining to move puddles of water from the room entrance, and a door mat of some sort for inside the room. It rained quite a bit when we were there and we were constantly dealing with a puddle of water from our shoes inside our bedroom door. Being very specific with feedback in hopes that management might see if because it would all be very quick to remedy.

Nice place & area. The staff was nice too. The bedroom was pleasant as well as the little courtyard.
