Provider-sourced guest reviews.
We visited at New Year for a mix of walking and relaxation. Pascal was an impeccable host. Breakfast was fabulous not least his famous sourdough. The bedroom was comfortable and the bathroom well stocked. We will stay again. Local recommendations for food and drink were well made.
Such a lovely, friendly B&B, comfortable rooms and excellent breakfast - especially the home made sourdough bread. Very convenient to town centre and many North Yorkshire sights within 30 minutes aswell. Thank you Pascal, Sarah and boys. We will visit again 😀 Carol and Andrew from Devon
Breakfast was great and Pascal is very friendly . Lovely house but unfortunately we felt it could have been presented so much better, just sweeping front step adding some plants to the empty pots would have made it more inviting but overall we felt it needed a good clean.
If you want a wonderful home away from home, come and stay here. We are over from Australia and staying 5 days wish we could stay longer! First night on arrival we were greeted by Pascal who is a charming host, friendly and fantastic cook. He took us to our room and let us settle in, next thing he was back knocking on the door with a glass of bubbles and canopies. Each morning he cooks a hot breakfast for all guests! He even has a signature dish, he gets up early each morning to make sourdough bread for his guest’s breakfast. Room is amazing and spacious. All the little things like soap, body wash and shampoo provided! If you need anything Pascal is happy to help or provide. Bed was comfortable including the pillows! Pascal is very knowledgeable about the local area and all the restaurants he recommended didn’t disappoint, we tried Indian, Italian cuisine and of course we had fish and chips. Thank you Pascal and Sarah! Will be returning here on our next trip and certainly highly recommend this Beautiful B&B!
The already Excellent reviews are well deserved! Ideal for our stay in Pickering being close to the town centre and pubs/restaurants. The parking felt secure and convenient. Our room was well presented with breakfast having quality ingredients and cooked professionally.
I would highly recommend this B&B. Friendly host amazing breakfast. Best sourdough ever tasted. Five minute walk into the centre of Pickering. Beautiful house great sized rooms. Would definitely stay again
Brilliant place to stay, breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious with freshly cooked homemade sourdough. Car park space and places to eat all within easy walking distance. Would thoroughly recommend Cawthorne house with Pascal and Sarah
What a little gem is Cawthorne House in Pickering. Cosy room and a delicious breakfast, cooked to order with the very best home baked sourdough bread we have ever enjoyed. Pickering has a good choice of eateries as well, which are all within easy walking distance.
Wow! And Wow! If you’re into great breakfasts, a warm welcome and comfy place to rest then look no further! We had 2 nights at Cawthorne House, adding the Sourdough course which Pascal runs and it was excellent. There are so many extra treats included along the way, I could not list them all. This comes from the very generous hosts Pascal and Sarah who literally did everything they could to make our stay special. Thank you. Pickering is a lovely village and on the steam train stop for Whitby - with good Gastro pubs all a short walk from the B&B. We had a fabulous dinner at the Black Swan – my husband had the Pork, which he said was amazing and their signature dish was the duck confit. Fish and chips, did not disappoint. We arrived in time for the monthly craft & artisan fayre – which if you’re a foodie, (like us) was excellent. Lots of local cheese, bread and honey etc and locally made crafts. We really enjoyed our stay and will be coming back again.
We loved our stay at Cawthorne House. Pascal was a wonderfully warm host. The room was spacious and comfortable with a huge bed. The breakfasts were delicious and included Pascal’s homemade sourdough bread. We’d highly recommend Cawthorne House.
A most enjoyable stay ! rooms massive, kingsize bed so comfortable. And now the best ..... Pascal ... the breakfasts ..... fresh fruit salad ,yoghurts ,plus the fantastic extravagant feast of an english breakfast cooked to order from Pascal. And last but definately not least Pascals home made sourdough bread ,you can smell it wafting up the stairs mm mm mm .If you need any advice on where to go and what to see in Pickering Pascal can advise you where to go , A bientot ,more than likely not spelt right . Many Thanks Melvyn and Judith.
Lovely place, great hosts, great breakfast, nice and central to visit the village. 100% recommend. Amazing sourdough bread made by the host is a must !
Brilliant place, comfy bed, hosts were lovely definitely would recommend and would recommend the local chip shop, and The White Swan. Great stay !!
Our stay at Cawthorne was excellent. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were also excellent and it was lovely to be fussed over by Pascal who went out of his way to make sure that everything was to our taste. Pascal is a very accomplished cook and an experienced hotelier - it showed! Thank you for a great stay in your lovely home.
Beautiful house and a very friendly host who is clearly a great cook. Superb breakfast and lovely touches like a glass of fizz and canapés on arrival. Homemade sourdough bread is amazing. Will definitely use it again if back in the area.
We stayed 5 nights with Pascal and his family and had a wonderful stay . The rooms are very large and spacious with decor as you would expect in a country house. Parking to the rear of the property. The breakfasts were amazing, fresh fruit, full Yorkshire using the best sausage and bacon and of course freshly made sour dough. Pascal spends slit of time making everything perfect and it shows, he also gave us great tips about walks locally and where to eat and find great local hostelries. We would definitely stay again
We had a perfect two night stay at Cawthorne House. Our room was clean and spacious with all the amenities you could wish for and only 10 minutes walk into Pickering town centre it was the perfect Location. The real star of this Guest House has to be Pascal, what a friendly and approachable host he was, nothing was too much trouble, from tips on the local area to local restaurants near by. His breakfasts were amazing and we really appreciated him getting up at 5.30am to bake his gorgeous Sourdough Bread which was still warm when served The canapes and glasses of fizz on arrival, along with the home baked cookies were the extra touches which made our stay here so memorable. We would highly recommend at stay at the Cawthorne House if you intend to visit Pickering. Thank you Pascal.
This is a long overdue review of the North Yorkshire Cawthorne House in Pickering. This was our second stop in our three week long jaunt around England and Wales. What intrigued us about this B&B was the ability to learn how to make sourdough bread from the owner and master bread maker Pascal. We did this on our third day, so that we could take a loaf we made with us our journey. The location of the Cawthorne House is very convenient. We could walk to everything. Restaurants, pubs, the church, the railroad station, shops. All close by. We were fortunate to be able to park our car behind the building. Otherwise we would have had to park on the street. Not as convenient as behind the building. We left it there for our entire stay. Our room was big and spacious. The bathroom was well appointed. We had a closet to hang up some clothes. The inn was quiet for sleeping. Much appreciated. Pascal's breakfasts were terrific. We especially enjoyed the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. And of course his freshly made that morning sourdough bread. Despite me wanting to "over touch" my sourdough bread while preparing it, my loaf came out perfectly. In fact we took it to the next place we were staying and shared it with fellow guests to rave reviews. If you ever find yourself in Pickering, do consider the Cawthorne House for your lodging. You won't regret it.
Obviously anywhere that makes their own sour dough bread, is the place to stay. Nothing was too much trouble for Pascale. Lovely welcome, great room, quiet and plenty of space. Good shower. Breakfast - apart from the Kelloggs offering- yuk…_is freshly made and a good selection. The location of Cawthorne House is brilliant, easy to walk into the centre. Nice walk to Thornton-le-Dale. Also has a car park round the back, so handy.
We’ve had an excellent 2-night stay at Cawthorne House. They were extremely friendly and welcoming. The room was lovely, clean and spacious. They were very thoughtful with extra bathroom products and tea making facilities so you could relax and enjoy your stay with ease. Rooms have a seating area so you can just enjoy the canapé when you’re first welcomed to your room. Pascal is extremely friendly and as chatty as you want him to be. He cooks an incredibly breakfast each morning with his famous sourdough which is a treat. The place is walkable to all the main highlights in Pickering with plenty of parking. Overall an extremely lovely stay.

A very enjoyable stay with an excellent breakfast. We did enjoy his bread. Will definitely use again. Did like a bit of banta
We had a lovely stay at Cawthorne House. Our room was very nice, the beds were comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. Pascal's freshly baked sourdough alone was worth stopping for! Our hosts were lovely, very welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. We would definitely recommend Cawthorne House as a base for this part of North Yorkshire and the East Coast.
Very welcoming on arrival and a super host throughout the stay and the breakfast was delicious. Definitely would stay again.
Written on behalf of my mum. We stayed at Cawthorne House in May and were greeted on arrival by Pascal. He showed us to our super king room with a warm welcome and even brought us a couple of glasses of Prosecco, homemade canapés and also some homemade cookies - which were all yummy. The room was stunning, with a super king bed which was so comfortable. The bathroom was also beautiful with a spacious shower, along with everything you need including shower gel, shampoo etc. There was tea and coffee making facilities in the room with lots of choice of teabags etc. Breakfast was pre-ordered the night before and was all local produce and Pascal’s homemade sour dough bread which was absolutely delicious. Ideally located for the North Yorkshire Railway station, with Pickering station being just a 5 min walk away. Plenty of local restaurants nearby to eat in the evenings. Pascal always went that extra mile to help and ensure we were happy with everything. We had a lovely 2 night stay at this beautiful guest house and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend staying here to anyone.
We had a lovely weekend, our room was very clean and comfortable.Pascal was very friendly and informative. The breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked with Pascal's homemade sourdough bread. We would definitely stay again,
Pascal greeted us warmly and made us feel welcome from the first point of contact. The drink, canapé and cookies were much appreciated after a long journey. Breakfast was fantastic and prepared beautifully using quality ingredients and the room was very comfortable. Several dining options are within walking distance to suit all budgets and the car park behind the property is very convenient . Pascal was full of local knowledge and tips and we would certainly stay here again if in the area .
A little apprehension at first as there is no real ‘kerb appeal’ but this masks an excellent guest house and welcome. The glasses of fizz and canapé on arrival help us to settle in. The cooked to order breakfast is worthy of a 5 star hotel. Would recommend to those wishing to explore the North Yorkshire Moors.
When we arrived at the hotel for our 3 night stay, we were welcomed by our host Pascal. Pascal was very helpful and gave us some good knowledge of the area and advice on places to visit and eat during our stay. Breakfast the following morning was fantastic, with all quality ingredients and his amazing freshly home baked sour dough bread. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cawthorne house and will definitely be back.
Well! What to say, what a stay! So comfortable, lovely Georgian house, cosy room, beautifully cooked breakfast and the top feature.....owner Pascal. Pascal is everything good that you would want from a B &B host plus much more. Nothing was too much for him. He was most kind when, as a couple in our 80's, we were too tired to go out to eat after a long day. We were greeted on arrival with canapés, lovely home baked biscuits and a glass of Prosecco....what's not to like? We would have liked to have stayed longer and hope to return Thank you Pascal for a memorable stay in your lovely home.
Great location in a beautiful town can walk into town and eat at so many cafes and restaurants. We thought the town was a hidden gem.On arrival at Cawthorne House we were greeted by Pascal who showed us our beautiful room then returned with bubbly and treats.Slept so good such a quiet spot.Breakfast was amazing specially the warm sourdough that had been freshly baked. The room was a great size with a small table and chairs to sit at the window and enjoy the view of lovely historic buildings. The room was clean and well equipped with everything you need.Would definitely stay again.
Fabulous place run by a fabulous family. Breakfast was amazing as was Pasqual's sour dough bread. Is very clean and comfortable with lovely extras like a welcome drink with homemade canapè plus home made cookies in the room. Its a very convenient location with good eateries within walking distance. The hospitality from Pasqual and his family was exceptional. Will definitely stay again.

The owner, Pascal, provides a unique personal experience to your stay in his hotel. Excellent breakfasts are mixed with conversation, advice, and helpfulness for his guests. Accommodation is decent. We had the one ground floor room which was a reasonable size. The room was clean and room service was provided every third day. The hotel location was very good, being a short walk to the High Street and North Yorkshire Moors Railway. There are 3 parking spaces taken on a first come first served basis. If full, the alternative is to park in the road outside which is very busy.
We stayed for 3 nights to see the fantastic Moors and the train to Whitby. We would come again for another stay at Cawthorne House! Pascal is a superb welcoming host and provides an excellent range of home cooked breakfasts. He seeks to understand any allergies and easily adapts and recommends acceptable alternatives. Rooms are clean and welcoming. Another 5 Stars!
What a great place to stay - lovely room, amazing breakfast and close to the centre of Pickering. Pascal is an exceptional host who made us feel extremely welcome and his sourdough course cannot but leave you enthusing about bread making. Altogether a very worthwhile and enjoyable experience.
Booked for a single over night stay, and liked it that much we decided to stay an additional night the next morning as our room was available. On to the experience: Located perfectly for walking distance into the centre of pickering, which has lots of eateries and bars (highly recommend figaros italian). We went on our motorbike on arrival the owners, Pascal and Sarah, were exceptionally accommodating and allowed us to park the motorbike on the rear garden behind closed gates. (If you're a biker you will understand how much peace of mind this brings). As we arrived, Pascal showed us to our room and returned shortly after with hot canapés and a glass of fizz each. We placed our breakfast order and time slot for the next morning. The room was spacious, clean, and well stocked woth tea and coffee (it is rare to have decaf coffee in the room and enough milk); you can tell they have worked in hospitality for years. Pascal is a hoot! Made me laugh on more than one occasion, friendly, personable and welcoming. Breakfast was outstanding, couldnt fault anything. Fresh fruit, yoghurt, granola and normal cereals were waiting, and then replaced by a full English and smoked salmon and eggs. Everything was quality ingredients, cooked, and seasoned perfectly. And not to mention the homemade Sourdough! We cannot rate our stay highly enough and we will definitely be returning.
We visited Cawthorne House last weekend for the first time and WOW what a find! Pascal is the perfect host giving great advice on places to eat and visit as well as wine recommendations from his experience in the industry. Lovely bedrooms with high standards and very comfortable beds and pillows. Breakfast was fabulous and beautifully presented. We will definitely be back!
Our annual trip to pickering with family and this year it as grown to 6 of us.We were delighted to see that my old friend Pascal the owner of the best B and B for miles around was able to put us all up so we could show off his lovely home and gorgeous breakfast to our two new long weekend family members.Well what an impression he made on them with his humour and knowledge of food and drink in the hospitality industry and his travels to france and Europe,so it looks like six will return next year if not sooner for our two new members of the group. Thanks pascal for another amazing weekend and see you soon friend
A wonderful hidden gem B&B. Lovely welcome from Pascal and his personalised breakfasts with his famous sourdough bread are delicious. It’s the special little things that make you feel special, hime made cookies in the room, canapés and bubbles on arrival. Bottled water in the room as well as plenty of beverages and toiletries. Great location for the coast of the lovely market towns and return after a long day to a comfortable bed.
We had a lovely four night stay at Cawthorne House. Pascal, the host was very friendly and helpful and our room most comfortable with everything we needed. The breakfast was very good, with varied possibilities within the menu. We will definitely return.
We booked Cawthorne House ahead of a trip on the steam railway.we needed somewhere close so we didn't have to drive We were greeted by Pascal who showed us to our very lovely room . Shortly followed by a complimentary glass of fizz and homemade canapes. Breakfast is pre order , plenty of it cooked fresh with berries and yogurt to start. All served on very pretty china .. Just attention to detail, that goes a long way. Oh and I nearly forgot.... homemade sourdough bread, absolutely delicious.. A lovely couple of days spent. Certainly would not hesitate to stay again should we be in the area.
We booked in Cawthorne House on the back of the reviews. And we were not disappointed Pascal is definitely the host with the most! A complimentary glass of fizz and canapes on arrival was a lovely touch. Especially after the long drive up. We had a walk into town for our evening meal, after reading some of the recommendations.. it's a nice easy walk with plenty of establishments to choose from. Breakfast was pre order and was absolutely delicious, we tried two different options on both days, the avocado on homemade sour dough was outstanding.. A lovely 2 day break.. icing on the cake was a ride on the Sir Nigel Gresley train..
We had the best time at Pascal’s Cookery School – Sourdough Masterclass at Cawthorne House in Pickering! We weren’t quite sure what to expect, but from the moment we arrived, we felt completely welcomed and at ease. Pascal is absolutely brilliant—so knowledgeable, funny, and a great teacher, even for total beginners. The whole weekend was a perfect mix of learning, relaxing, and eating amazing food. The course is really well-paced. We baked alongside Pascal, learning from him every step of the way, sipping on Prosecco and enjoying an amazing freshly made sourdough sandwich—absolute heaven! Throughout the afternoon and evening, between relaxing, exploring, and enjoying a canapé demonstration (and even taking some home!), we checked in on our dough regularly, stretching it and allowing it to prove. Dinner out at The White Swan was amazing, and then we headed back to “put our dough to bed” before rising early to bake our loaf before breakfast. The setting at Cawthorne House is just beautiful—cosy, welcoming, and in a great spot in Pickering. We left feeling so chilled out and ready to start baking at home. We’ve come away with a pot of sourdough starter, course notes, and a lifetime of sourdough support from Pascal (which we’ll probably need!). Honestly, if you’re even slightly curious about sourdough—or just fancy a weekend of great food and good company—we can’t recommend this enough. Such a fantastic experience! Thank you, Pascal, for an amazing weekend! 🥖
We had the most fantastic time at The Sourdough School with Pascal! From the moment we arrived, we could tell we were in for something special. Pascal is incredibly knowledgeable, and we loved hearing his stories while sipping on Prosecco, eating canapés and bonding over our shared love of food and travel. The hands-on sourdough baking experience was both fun and educational, and Pascal’s guidance made the process feel easy and enjoyable. Breakfast each morning was nothing short of spectacular, with the highlight being his unforgettable scrambled eggs. Waking up to the aroma of freshly baked sourdough was the perfect start to the day! The house itself is beautiful and it's ideally situated near lovely pubs and restaurants to explore before/after your class. We’d recommend namaste bengal and the white swan! We’re excited to have brought home our sourdough starter (yet to be named) and can’t wait to start baking on our own. Pascale has truly inspired us, and it's lovely to know we can reach out to him whenever we need advice on our bread-making journey. We’re already looking forward to coming back to learn how to make stollen at Christmas! Highly recommend this experience for anyone who loves food and wants to learn how to bake the perfect sourdough!
Amazing experience! Pascal was an incredible host, really friendly and knowledgeable. Room was super cosy, and the sourdough class was a really fun unique experience. Would definitely recommend and would love to stay again! Makes a great Christmas present.
There are not enough positive adjectives to describe our very wonderful stay with Pascal and his dear family. It really was perfection! Beautiful room; amazing food; feels like home; all delivered with so much love and care. Pascal showered us with BEAUTIFULL home baked treats - which we would find in our room; bubbly and divine canapes; the most AMAZING breakfasts!! Truly the BEST!! We stayed for 12 nights over the Christmas Holidays/New Year - we even had a Christmas tree in our room, complete with gifts on our arrival!! AND... a bottle of fine bubbly in a bucket, with chocolates, were waiting for us in our room on New Year's Eve! We were blessed with the most warmest kindness every single day. We truly enjoyed getting to know Pascal and always looked forward to returning home after our days out. Cawthorne House is a perfect place to stay for long stays (or short of course) - but I would happily take a month out of my calendar to stay again.... There is SO MUCH beauty in North Yorkshire. I have been caring for my parents for a year and needed complete rest in every way.... my peace returned to me in this place; my heart restored; my mental health strengthened; and so much more.... To anyone needing some TLC and proper rest... not just a break away for adventure - yes, there is much available for the more active types! But... for anyone needing restoration and peace... don't look any further... Cawthorne House is a must! North Yorkshire is magical; healing; renewing and simply stunning! We cannot thank you enough Pascal, everything you did, and provided, was with absolute excellence!
What an incredible stay we had. A beautiful room and the most delicious of breakfasts. We were so spoilt having homemade sourdough bread each morning. We were made to feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Pascal is the most amazing host, so friendly and engaging. We would recommend this to all. 5 stars do not seem enough to rate this!
Amazing B&B that would put most 4/5 star hotels to shame. Lovely service from Pascal from start to finish. Amazing breakfast, lovely room with absolutely no bad points at all from this 2 day stay. Pascal is a world of knowledge about where to eat, my go to place in north yorkshire. We look forward tto staying there again.
Pascal was a fabulous host who made us feel utterly at home. Breakfasts were excellent and Cawthorne House is just a 5-minute walk from the centre of Pickering which was perfect for exploring the town and for our evening meals. We will certainly stay again.
Pascal was the most friendly and welcoming of hosts. Fizz and a canapé and delicious breakfast, especially his homemade sourdough of which he is deservedly proud. Our room was spacious and the shower was excellent. Dare I say that the room would benefit from a refresh? A little tlc would elevate it to Boutique standard.
We spent a couple of days at Cawthorne House. Pascal and family were great hosts not to mention the super breakfast with fabulous home baked sourdough baked the same morning. Shortly after arriving you receive a glass of champagne and home baked flap jacks. Very clean and tidy. Would not hesitate to recommend
We have stayed in some lovely B&Bs on our UK holiday but Cawthorne House in Pickering has been our absolute favourite. Beautiful rooms, Pascal was so friendly and welcoming and his breakfast was spectacular. He also provided canapes and champagne on our arrival - such a lovely touch! Loved it and would highly recommend.
Well situated for railway, buses, shops, restaurants, and pubs.Pascal was a lovely host, breakfast excellent plenty of choice. Bed, ensuite shower lovely, room was very comfortable and clean. Could not fault it. Will certainly go back again.
Great host and stay. The home made sour dough is amazing
Excellent breakfast & thoughtful welcome treats. Would have liked the towels to be changed as it was difficult to dry them properly. Limited parking

The bread was freshly baked each day and so delicious. Pascal had lots of tips gor places to eat and visit. Certainly our new fav B&B😍
We were made very welcome by our hosts. After settling in our room we were greeted with Sparkling Wine and canapes. We were advised about the area and restaurants for an evening meal. The owner even booked one of the locations to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Nothing was too much trouble for Paschal our host. Breakfasts were freshly cooked to a high standard with lovely presentation.
Pascal the owner was an excellent host, very helpful friendly and informative. His breakfast was the best we have ever had. We would not hesitate to recommend Cawthorne House.
This was my first stay and I was overwhelmed by the welcome I received. My three night stay was superb and Pascal and his wife Sarah have made a high quality experience at a reasonable cost.

Booked the Cawthorne for my parents Christmas present (they wanted to try the North Yorks Railway) and their stay coincided with a birthday and wedding anniversary. Whilst I can't make personal comment because of not staying myself, they were absolutely delighted with their stay. "The B&B is superb, highly recommend Cawthorne House. Thank you xxx And Sebastian and Noah are delightful"
Very friendly Weeds growing at front door step
Pascal is an amazing host and his home is gorgeous . Breakfast was outstanding ! Pascals homemade Sourdough bread is not to be missed 🌟 A perfect place to stay in Pickering and we will return .
Pascal, our host, was charming, warm and incredibly friendly and generous. We were welcomed with a glass of fizz, canapés and home made biscuits. Our king sized room was v comfortable and clean. Breakfast was superb: locally produced ingredients; sourdough bread baked by Pascal that morning; beautify cooked and presented full English breakfast. The best we’ve ever had. Nothing was too much trouble for Pascal. He engaged with us and others staying there, suggesting places in the area to visit. Pickering is a very friendly market town. Cawthorne House is central and walking distance to local amenities and places to eat. Would we return? Indeed we will. Next time I shall book in for a master class on sourdough bread making with Pascal. Thank you, Pascal.
Had a lovely time at Cawthorne House. The owner was very friendly, and attentive. Everything was clean, it was warm and the treats were super. The breakfast and home cooked bread were amazing. Thank you.
Pascal very friendly and helpful host. We arrived early but were able to check in as room was ready. Lovely canape and glass of bubbly to welcome. Room had everything you needed and more! Homemade cookies appeared on our second day. Breakfast exceptional with freshly homemade baked bread and locally sourced ingredients. We will certainly return when in the area and have no hesitation in recommending this small privately run B & B to anyone visiting the area. Ideally located for town and easy access to coast and moors.
Can not recommend enough, beautiful building superb breakfast Fantastic host , would definitely return

The breakfast was amazing, the scrambled eggs are something else, if you think you have had nice scrambled eggs just wait until you try these that Pascal makes using double cream. We stayed 2 nights and would 100% recommend.
Excellent all round bed and breakfast a good base for touring the area.
Pascal and Cathrine House is exactly what you hope for from a great B&B! Lovely room, good bed, great shower and a great breakfast with a very friendly host. If we come back to Pickering we would definitely stay again!
We stayed for 3 nights and it was fabulous. Pascal the owner made us feel like family. The bedroom was big and very clean. Tea and coffee in bedroom. The breakfast was absolutely brilliant.... plenty of it, freshly cooked, hot. Recommend that you try the homemade sourdough.
Had a wonderful stay at Cawthorne House. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and there were lots of little extras provided, including cookies and some fizz and little snack on arrival. Pascal is a excellent host and cooked a delicious breakfast. When you could also have cereal, fruit and his lovely soda bread. Cawthorne House is 5-10 minutes from the town centre and lots of interesting shops and pubs. Would definitely stay again.
Wonderful stay. Pascal is super, great host, fantastic food, beautiful hotel, very friendly family. This is the only place that we will stay at in Pickering
We had a lovely time. Pascal was very welcoming and his family too . Bubbly and canapés on arrival was a lovely touch . Room very comfortable, had everything we needed. Breakfast was great especially the home made Sourdough. We would definitely stay again.
This was my wife's stay and she said: I had a delightful stay at Cawthorne House. I had a lovely room with a very comfortable bed. The glass of bubbles and canapes on arrival were very welcome. The breakfast was amazing - Pascal's sourdough bread and scrambled eggs in particular were amazing. And the homemade cookies! I hope to return with Ian in the future.
Had a great stay with Pascal who is a great host with lists of stories to tell. Fantastic breakfast and a very comfortable room.
My partner and i chose Cawthorne House on the strength of the excellent reviews we read, and I'm pleased to say that we were not disappointed! From the helpful correspondence sent after we booked, to the warm and friendly welcome we received on arrival - including canapes and a glass of bubbly - Pascal made our short stay truly enjoyable. The house itself is situated in a lovely street with easy walking access to Pickering town centre, and the Yorkshire coast within a half hour drive. A lovely clean room with excellent facilities and a cooked breakfast that was second to none! Although we were only away for a few days, It felt like proper break thanks to the excellent service provided and we'd have no hesitation in choosing Cawthorne House when we plan our next Yorkshire trip. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Our 2 night stay was excellent. Cawthorne House is a lovely building, full of character with traditional decor. We were made to feel welcome from the off and appreciated the extra touch of fizz and canapés and homemade cookies which Pascal provided. The owner is extremely personable - a Yorkshireman with a French name. We chose Pickering as a base to explore North Yorkshire on our motorcycle but we were disappointed to find the town had declined somewhat since our last visit, with many of the shops closed. Breakfast was a delight and certainly lived up to all the positive reviews. We were in room 4, a double at the rear and my only slight negative was the bathroom fan was noisy and stayed on for too long. On the plus side, it was very quiet and we were able to keep an eye on our motorcycle parked at the back of the building. Our experience overall was very pleasant indeed.
From the welcome of home made cookies, glasses of fizz and canapés to the wonderful breakfasts with Pascal’s freshly baked sourdough bread we couldn’t have asked for more. We had a wonderful Yorkshire holiday but our stay at Cawthorne House was definitely the highlight. If you’re staying in or near Pickering, this is the place to be.
We have been to Cawthorne House several times now & it never disappoints. Pascal and his family are always welcoming. Not many B&B’s greet you with homemade cookies glass of Prosecco & homemade canapés!Fabulous location close to some beautiful places to visit. We would definitely recommend 👍
