Across the road from Halifax rail station Friendly staff Bacon and Egg sandwich on day 2 - spot on !
Room looked a little tired - stained carpet Shower curtain should be bigger Bathmat scruffy and ripped Only continental breakfast on the Tuesday morning (check out day)
Good location in the Town, directly across from the train station
Location
You have to pay a £100 on entrance and only get this back if you haven’t broken anything. This is twice what the room itself cost! Breakfast limited - choice of coco pops or weetabix. No marmalade. Torn and wornout bath mat. Knockiing noise in night. Stayed there years ago - gone downhill since then
Great location and staff
Rooms and decorated
Good value for money room clean staff friendly
Nothing
Near all amenities, car parking near .Lovely breakfast and curry in the evening .Will definitely be staying again
Did like the deposit on top of payment thought it was a little expensive ..
Location was fantastic, room was clean and bright. Staff were very pleasant and accommodating, making arrangements for us to check in early.
Parking a little limited but I realise that was partly due to road works and road closures due to event at Piece Hall.
Great location
Location
Bit dated and bloody narrow corridors
Perfect location in middle of Halifax. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Reasonably priced.
Room was v warm (despite cloudy weather) and no aircon.
Great hotel in perfect position.
Friendly helpful staff
Extremely noisy residents disturbed my sleep early hours of the morning. Shouting & doors banging.
Location, old classic style, value for money
Breakfast was poor, with only corn flakes and bread and butter, jam.
Our room boasted a gorgeous four-poster bed. In the morning, there was excellent water pressure and lots of hot water. The location was perfect for the train station, the Piece Hall, and some excellent bars nearby.
The bathroom flooring could do with some repair.
The location
Everything else
Great location, cheap and cheerful, good for what we needed
Nothing the pictures don’t match in real life
The room and staff was very rude adiola his name was
Good location to where we needed to be
Only found out that there was no parking when we arrived, ideally should have been advised beforehand
It is absolutely perfectly placed for a trip to Halifax via the train (as it is a short walk across from the station). We were attending a gig at the Piece Halls, which it is also next door. The staff are always friendly.
Travel light as there is no lift to the upstairs rooms. It was pretty pricey but then a major band were playing so that can be expected.
Location to Piece Hall
No lift
Excellent proximity to the Piece Hall. Bed was very comfortable and pillows just right.
£100 taken deposit and not released still a week later. Shower tray damaged and furniture shabby, Breakfast would have been great but lukewarm. No fans or air con.
Great location, only 2min from the station Easy reach for centre of town Very good price
No issues for the one night stay
Fab location . 100m from station and from Piece Hall. Perfect
Nothing that would stop me going back. Stairs wouldn’t suit everyone
Great location. Great price. Good sized room.
Radiator wouldn't switch on. Bedding wasn't sufficient to maintain warmth at night: I managed to obtain extra from a helpful staff member.
Location for Piece Hall
A bit dated
Handy for the Piece Hall
They got the booking wrong and tried to put us in a double when a twin was booked. They did rectify this after we refused the double. The room was very small and dated. Simple things liked a hook in the bathroom were missing.
Very close to the venue, helpful and friendly receptionist, clean and comfortable bed.
TV upstairs in bedroom, wash basin in bathroom blocked, water not running away.
Location great for Piece Hall gigs and staff really lovely.
The whole place needs a good deep clean, the room was shabby and the bathroom smelled of damp. The bedding was clean and smelled fresh though. For the money I at least expect the place to be clean and for a continental breakfast to be included. No pastries or toast available, a sandwich with one rasher of bacon and 1 small sausage cut in half and a cup of tea for £12 was a total rip off. Room was tiny too.
The hotel does need a little work, bedside drawer, nobs missing and could do with bed dude lightning or overhead, but our stay was amazing! Exceptionally close to where we were going for the evening, and the facilities were just perfect, Breakfast, really lovely in their cafe/restaurant and staff so friendly and accommodating.
Lack of bedside lighting.
Friendly staff, great location. Good breakfast included in price. Good hot powerful shower.
No air con, a measly desk fan provided but did nothing to help the heat. Room had a strange smell. Bed wasn't comfortable. Overall didn't reflect the price paid for 1 night.
The room was very clean.
Room dated and no car park as stated. We chose this hotel for the carpark but ended up paying for parking.
Centrally located in Halifax, so convenient for the town centre.
Room was tiny and the bathroom the size of a postage stamp. I was on the 4th floor with no lift, so plenty of stairs to climb. Room was basic but clean however the carpet was badly stained and the floor of the bathroom was cheap vinyl. I took flip-flops and was glad I did so I didn’t have to walk in my bare feet. Bed was not comfortable - seemed to be at a slight angle? Biggest issue was car parking - it used to have its own car park but now it doesn’t so I had to pay to park in the nearby Woolshops parking so ended up paying another £40 over the 3 nights. Would have been good to be told this in advance. Overall disappointing.
Location for Piece Hall
Lack of staff, limited dining, basic rooms
Staff are very welcoming and accommodating. It’s a perfect location for the piece hall. We were able to add an extra night and keep the same room
Location right next to the piece hall
Nothing
The hotel is conveniently located just across the train station and 1 minute from Piece Hall. My room and bathroom was exceptionally clean, and had everything I needed. The Yorkshire tea was also a nice touch :) I must highlight how professional the staff was. I arrived earlier than the check-in time and the receptionist helped me stack my luggage. He was also on the duty next morning at breakfast and was very helpful and attentive. There were a couple of choices to choose from. I chose the full English and had coffee - both were really good.
It is on the pricier side... Understandable as there aren't too many places to stay at Halifax.
It was absolutely filthy
The location is ideal for The Piece Hall and Town Centre, the staff are wonderful, helpful and friendly, the rooms are decent for a day and overnight for concert goers.
Just a small amount of money spent on each room would improve the guest experience so much. Some new sealant round the bath and a better mattress which was not very comfortable. The cost was high for the quality but probably not for the location on a Saturday concert night. I know its expensive to refurb, but maybe just take one room out of service at a time and gradually upgrade them, literally a few hundred quid a room would work wonders. It's a lovely building in a great spot. I've stayed here before so was not disappointed.
No aircon
It was central.
Room 210 was small and dirty. We moved to 214 for second night. It was cleaner. But the cold water was warm.
Good location if visiting the piece hall & close to train station
Small rooms, no air con in hot weather, poor shower, dirty bath panel
Location to Piece hall is excellent
The rooms were filthy. Stains all over the place. Old wooden furniture. We did not stay in the room. As soon as we could we left. It was utterly horrible. None of the images on this website matched our room.
Nice room and great location
No cold water in the room... Tap just seemed to be running hot
Its location
We were told check-in was from 2 but when we got there they said 3. There was a half-full plastic cup of liquid in the room. Room very warm but they do provide electric fan. Breakfast was average. There’s no lift if you have any access needs.
Location
Dated, dingy
Location
Excellent location for the Piece Hall. Shower was ok with good water pressure.
Grubby, run down, noisy and stuffy. Had to close the window as the ventilation outside was so loud but then it was extremely hot. Floor creaked and banged. Curtains were broken and filthy.
The location was ideal and the staff were very kind and helpful at every interaction
Exceedingly poor value for money. Dated rooms and facilities, chipped paintwork, carpets did not appear clean, room backed on to noisy bars, other guests could be heard throughout the night. The price was inflated beyond what would be considered reasonable for the quality of the accommodation based on demand (concert in the local area and limited lodgings).
The property is literally just around the corner from the Piece Hall, we were in Halifax to attend a gig there so it was perfect for us.
The room was a little tired, and could have done with some freshening up. What was an issue though was the shower in the bathroom, there wasn’t a plug for the bath, and the lever to pull up to use the shower rather than the bath would not stay up, and we had to wedge something underneath it. When we left there was no one around on reception, so we didn’t report it however I can’t imagine it hasn’t been reported before. Another thing, at 7 am on Monday morning the window was cleaned, we were woken up by the sound of the brush and the water hitting the glass, so it was a bit of a rude awakening. The free car park is currently unavailable due to roadworks, staff on reception were very apologetic but redirected us to somewhere else to park, which was only £6 for 24hours and a two minute walk away from the hotel, so it wasn’t a problem, but if you’re staying there just something to be aware of at the moment (August 26). All of that being said, we may well stay again.
The staff and location, breakfast was good , service excellent
Bed was to big for room and it was 2 single beds pushed together,
Great value for money and SO close to the Piece Hall!
Good location
Very dated and tired
The location was perfect, close to car parking and the piece hall.
It was a bit dusty in places, the shower head was fixed and too low! Toilet didn’t flush well
Me and my mum came here for a concert on the 26th of July. I usually read reviews before going to places. I read the reviews for here and it put me off a little until we got there. We called when we arrived at Halifax and thought maybe we could get an early check in. Unfortunately we couldn’t but it was fine, we were going to walk around and get some food instead. We managed to get in for about 3 o’clock. When we got to our room it was nothing like them reviews said. It was nice and spacious and I even managed to sign into my Netflix account on the tv. Bathroom was quite decent, there was a sanitary bag holder for ladies. Only problem was there was only one in there. The breakfast in the morning was so lovely. And, it’s only a 5 minute walk from the piece hall plus the staff were really lovely. Only downside to our room was: There was a small stain on either the sheet or the towels The window was too high to reach One of the beds were really creaky when you moved But besides that, we had a lovely stay and we might come back again
Location to Piece Hall
Overpriced for the type of hotel it is but obviously taking advantage of location and lack of other accommodation nearby
Location was nice and central to local attractions and station. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hot drinks, kettle, TV and many socket available within the room
Bed was broken, as you stand by the foot of the bed, the back right corner had collapsed some time before my stay and hadn't been noticed by staff, photo is attached. Shower gel was not restocked before or during my stay. Shower curtain covers drain so if you have a long shower you will likely flood the bathroom so do be careful.
Easy to find as straight outside of the train station and great location for the piece hall which is why we stayed
No one on reception when we first got there so had to wait and on leaving it was a case of just leave your key on reception Room was a bit tatty as was the bathroom. Though didn't spend long in the room we did go back for a rest before gig , pillows were flat and I banged my head on headboard as I went to sit back, and I could only see half the TV when sat on bed, the kettle wouldn't work in the morning so couldn't have a cup of tea before we left. I have payed less for a room with much better spec than this had.
Fantastic for visiting the piece hall as literally around the corner. Standard room, basic . Staff very friendly and breakfast was good.
It was super close to the concert venue and train station
I expect it to be better for the price honestly
Basic hotel bit old fashioned think it relies on its vicinity to pierce hall for most custom
Not that we didn't like it but as stated old fashioned and a bit dated could do with modernisation 9pm
Great location - needed a one night stop over due to commitments in the local area. This was well suited, giving great access to the town for shopping, food and drinks.
Location was great. Staff fantastic, pleasant and happy to help. Cafe attached to the hotel provided the included breakfast which was very nice and a reasonable portion to set you up for the day.
There wasn't much too like about this property very run down hotel
The room wasn't clean and the facilities in the room were in bad condition, there was exposed wires to the plug socket, a big gap in the wall by the bed, poor and neglected bathroom also no toilet roll holder. I am asthmatic and the room was very dusty also not good for my condition. There were no knots on the bedside table just 2 screws exposed.
Very convenient for Piece Hall. The Indian food was excellent 👌 the staff were superb and very accommodating.
The room was good but would have been great for the money if it was a bit more modern. Needs a bit of updating and the double bed was two singles so falling down between mattresses was inevitable. Other than that I'd book again because of the location and staff.
There was only person on duty during the stay, although he was very helpful and friendly . Had to queue for a while at check-in and meant the bar area had no staff to serve guests.
Great location, nice bar and the restaurant was great- nice staff Very clean- bedrooms could do with some love
Currently no parking-
Wij ware er een paar dagen voor een concert in Piece Hall. Hotel ligt er letterlijk naast. Fantastische locatie. Bar is 24/7 open dus erg fijn om na afloop een drankje te kunnen doen.
Niets. Werkelijk waar alles was top geregeld.
Perfect location for our visit to Halifax (Piece Hall). Easy access - car park and train station were a stone's throw. Check in/out easy and staff were friendly.
Nothing much, if I had to criticise anything it would be to say the duvets were too heavy for a hot day in August.
Locations near piece hall
Needs updating. Bathroom terrible needs a proper shower.
Efficient check in, the staff were all friendly and the £100 safety deposit was refunded shortly after we checked out. The room was a good size, comfortable and thankfully had a fan. Someone took our heavy case upstairs as he saw us struggling, which was very much appreciated. The rooms may be a little dated for some people's tastes, but it's a very old building with character rather than a sterile chain hotel. The location was excellent for The Piece Hall, especially if you need to use the East Gate, which is only a 2-3 minute walk. It was good having somewhere to get a reasonably priced drink and wind down before going back upstairs to sleep off an excellent gig! Met some fellow fans, got chatting & tipsy, then bought a round of 7 drinks which was half the price it would have been down south!
The council has dug up the car park - there were lots of roadworks around - but there was plenty of parking in the Eureka car park at £14.50 for 24 hours (there was a notice saying £8 for Piece Hall visitors, but I couldn't see any instructions how to get that rate). £213 for one night in a twin room is a lot, but all hotel prices have shot up in recent years, and you're paying for the prime location. At least you won't need to pay for taxis! THERE IS NO LIFT! There aren't any bedrooms on the ground floor and there may not always be a member of staff around to assist with luggage, so pack light. We were unable to order from the cafe bar menu around 5.30pm as the kitchen swapped over to the Indian menu at 6pm. One meal came out quickly, but the other one took about 25 minutes. Neither were brilliant, so we skipped breakfast.
Close to Piece Hall & train Station as I was there for a concert.
There are major road works outside, so was a bit noisy.
Location couldn't be better. A few minutes walk from the train station and a few minutes from the Piece Hall where we went to a concert. Good cooked breakfast.
Small room with enormous bed so very little space around it. Only one bedside socket so unable to use kettle/charger. Tv on bench sideways on so couldn't watch from the bed. Had to wait 50 minutes for the cooked breakfast, no self service juices or cereals. Really quite expensive at £191.
I absolutely loved the man on reception, he helped me with my pram. I was upset as I had missed my last bus back to Ripponden. He was so compassionate, even asking if I needed help walking my toddler up thw stairs and this was 9pm at night.
There are small problems, like roadworks etc but this is out of the control of owners or anyone who works there.
Not great, not a great choice. Service was slow.
More choice, quicker service.
Great location
Run down rooms
It was close to the music venue and very clean and comfy beds.

Right next to the Piece Hall. Perfect for gig goers. Staff excellent ( Well done Michael for letting us annoy you and drinking all the beer) Excellent value for money.

Location
Uncomfortable bed, not very clean, expensive
Great location for an event at the Piece Hall. Breakfast included in the adjoining restaurant.
Great location. Breakfast was really nice.
No parking.
Location to Piece Hall
Overpriced, small double room, poor quality furniture in the bedroom, pillows cheap and flat, bathroom un inviting, the room felt grubby, but it was clean.
Excellent location right next to Piece Hall.
Room 204. The tattiest, shabbiest most unclean room I have ever stayed in. In need of a desperate makeover and a proper clean and vacuum. Broken blinds and ripped stained carpet in the bedroom, loose tap on bathroom sink and bathroom ceiling covered in mould. Hotel policy to charge a £100 deposit to your card, refundable after you’ve left. An absolute joke given the condition of the room.
Nothing
Everything! Shabby, dated, incredibly cramped room, stained sheets, very overpriced. Not even a hairdryer! Disinterested staff. And it's very convenient that photos of the room can't be shared.
Location, staff fantastic
Room and bathroom looking a little tired and dated
Perfect to step off the train and there was the hotel directly in front of you. It has an Indian restaurant attached & a cafe for breakfast just next door. It is also only 100 yards from the Piece Hall, which is what brought us to Halifax so ideally located. The staff were excellent, really friendly & helpful.
The rooms are dated and as it’s an older hotel is stairs only - no lifts available, which was fine for us as we had no cases. But we ended up helping a few older people who were struggling. We paid £175 for a twin room and having stayed in a Premier Inn for considerably less and breakfast was included, I’m afraid I think this is well over priced despite the convenience.
Location was good breakfast was nice and staff were friendly and helpful.
The price of the room was massively inflated because it was located next to a concert venue. The standard of the room and general decor did not reflect the price point .
Nice property and clean
The reception staff
only the location
Over priced, breakfast appealing, bathroom had shower off wall, toilet seat loose, bath panel coming away from bath, tiles by bath poly fitted. NO hairdrier.
Proximity to the Piece Hall
Needs a deep clean ,no complimentary water ,small kettle ,needs an upgrade .overpriced
Brilliant location for our needs, good service, staff helpful 👍
Noise from roadworks, lack of parking spaces.
Location
Tired & shabby
Great location
Location
Cleanliness. Booking. Curtains
Amazing location perfect in fact, 3 mins from everything
Sadly and its a minor thing the tv was a great size but the airel/tv box wouldn't connect so when we chilled you couldn't watch it, no fans available in the red hot weather and no plugs next to tje beds
location near piece hall
charged £200 for a poor room with a door that opened on to the bed and an old coloured bathroom suite.Bed wasn't good.Wasn't told that their usual carpark was closed due to road works.Breakfast no margarine or butter on toast.Have stayed in better b & b's for less money.Damp stains on ceiling.
Perfect location and a short walk to the shopping centre car park. Staff very friendly and good value for money.
Good location for piece hall
Very dated, bathroom very bleak, no parking when said online there was. Room was unbearably hot, they had put a tiny fan in the corner of the room which was blowing hot air around ended up leaving at midnight as was like sleeping in an oven. So we only ended up using the room for an hour.
Got out as quickly as I could the next morning
Bathroom wasn't clean & bed uncomfortable
Came here for a gig at the piece hall It was right next door. Absolutely spot on
Had to park a bit away from hotel as there were road works outside ,but wasn't much of an issue.
