Samantha on reception greeted us like old friends. Without exception the service was amazing. We had a beautiful meal in the restaurant and enjoyed whale spotting from the terrace.

Loved this place! From the moment we arrived, we felt well taken care of. Excellent staff, comfortable room, good breakfast, good restaurant for dinner, well-located for walking to town or to the Market Off Main for light bites to eat.'' We would definitely stay here again. Met or exceeded expectations in every regard.

Totally recommend this boutique hotel! The location is amazing and the services are the best! The restaurant has very good quality food and also breakfast was delicious! From the main pool area (which was heated) you could see dolphins in the ocean! Everything felt close to home, super nice and cozy!

Pure decadence… What a treat. Staff were exceptional and the food at Amelia’s was 5*. The views of the bay just INCREDIBLE. Stone throw from the beach with private access. Weather just stunning. No bell ring fit whales while we were there though!

The hotel is fantastic, the rooms, the interior decoration , the location. The staff is very nice, helpful and professional. What can be improved is the breakfast offer overall and in particular for gluten free intolerants

Perhaps over weekend buffet service could be a bit longer... especially if one is more of a bruncher? The bacon is very tough, hard to chew, irrespective of requesting back or crispy - can be an issue since it detracts from the otherwise lovely, cooked breakfast selection?

The view, the staff, the decoration, the atmosphere of the hotel was so special I loved the caring of the details too, like preparing the room for sleeping and warming the bed

There are no enough water bottles in the rooms

The hotel is beautifully situated with a superb view of the bay and mountains. All of the staff made us feel very welcome and special guests. Rooms and public spaces are quiet and comfortable and the food in the restaurant was excellent for both dinner and breakfast. The heated outdoor pool with its view was a winter bonus.

It’s a beautiful boutique hotel in a perfect location, well maintained and right in front of breath taking view.

The food was very average and simple dishes are made over complicated and too much sauce and the price doesn’t match. Also the restaurant staff for amount of money paid is nit very well trained.

BREAKFAST WAS GREAT AND THE STAFF WERE VERY ATTENTIVE IN THE RESTAURANT, BAR , RECEPTION AND BEDROOMS.

We spent three wonderful days at The Plettenberg during our honeymoon, and it was exceptional from start to finish. The décor is beautiful, our suite was luxurious, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Service throughout the hotel was flawless, and the food was consistently outstanding. Our stay was memorable in every way, and we highly recommend The Plettenberg to anyone looking for a truly special experience.

The location, the aesthetics heated pool, the most amazing view from the room we booked, stone throw from the beach and the food was 👌

The lady assisting us with our payment the day we checked out was so rude. We had a mishap with our dates and the hotel accommodated us still but on check out we were not sure if bookings.com debited the amount. The lady treated us like we didn't have money to pay the amount that bookings.com did not debit and that little incident was so distasteful. The one who helped us check in was the complete opposite, very professional and helpful.

What a magnificent stay. Can’t wait to stay again.

The hotel location on top of the cliffs overlooking the sea is great. The hotel is well fitted out and the rooms spacious and very comfortable. Early morning tea or coffee brought to the room is a very pleasant way to start the day. Breakfast buffet was varied and delicious.

Fomos muito bem recebidos pela equipe que nos mostrou o lugar, nos ofereceram uma pequena garrafa de espumante pela nossa comemoração e foram solicitos em todo o momento. Restaurante do hotel, tanto para café da manhã quanto para jantar é muito gostoso e equipe com ótimo atendimento. Cama muito boa, chuveiro de qualidade e wifi gratuito funcionando. Fomos de carro, estacionamento fica localizado na rua porém sempre com seguranças. Localização ótima, com boas vistas da praia e próximo a lojas e restaurantes da cidade.

Excellent location.

The Plettenburg Hotel was absolutely amazing. We were only there two nights and I wish I had booked a longer visit. The hotel itself is spotless, and hearkens back to a gentler time with overstuffed couches and exquisite decor. The staff was so helpful and friendly, and the food at the restaurant was phenomenal (both breakfast and dinner). Having breakfast on the patio and watching the sun come up over the infinity edge pool over the ocean was breathtaking.

We stayed at this fabulous hotel for 5 nights. The staff, room, food, parking in fact there is nothing bad could be said regarding this fantastic hotel. The staff were absolutely fantastic and the room was spotlessly cleaned every day. The food was so good that we ate in it every night, and there was a great choice to pick from. There is free parking which is manned by security staff 24/7. The location is just off a great beach and also within walking distance from the town centre. Brilliant hotel all round and definitely worth a visit. Thank you for a great time, and great staff

One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at in awhile! Every detail was thought through, and the staff were very kind and helpful. Special shout out to Chantel who really took care of us, ensuring we had a great vacation.

Absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel. Full of character and charm. Probably my favourite hotel of the past 40+ years of travel. I especially thought the staff were the warmest and friendliest I've come across.

The Plettenberg deserves a perfect score. From management across the board including all staff members, service is exceptional. Entire property is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and very well maintained. Food of a very high standard, both delicious and well presented. Outstanding service from the travel desk who arranged our airport shuttle with a very professional company.

This is an outstanding hotel in a wonderful setting in Plettenberg Bay. Staff and service were excellent and the food was exceptional. Our only criticism was the lack of ramps for disabled persons and this caused us great embarrassment when we invited mobility impaired guests for lunch.

We aspect of our stay was simply Superb! The staff very polished, polite and professional. The location and views ticket all the boxes.

Nothing not to like …

We woke up to a stunning sunrise over the Indian Ocean, and dolphins playing in the surf below the cliffs where the hotel is located. Incredibly memorable.

Absolutely nothing to enter in this text box. The hotel thinks of every detail with graciousness.

Viel zu wenige Liegebetten an den Pools, nicht bewirtschaftet, viele sind Stunden unbesetzt, aber reserviert. Hier braucht es bei schönem Wetter unbedingt einen Pool Manager!!

It was perfect honestly

Avoid rooms 28 and 30 as they are above the kitchen. You do enjoy some see view, provided tou open the window... which you will avoid doing because of the fry smell.

We had two rooms one of which had a sea view which was lovely!! Breakfast was amazing with a buffet and hot options, plenty of juices and bottles of fizz or Bloody Mary's if you want them! The breakfast area looks over the sea and we were lucky enough to see dolphins swimming by! The staff were all fantastic and could not do enough for us! I would stay here again!

bfast was great - room a bit small and would have loved a sea facing room ( now it costs more) our shower leaked water into the rest of the bathroom everything else superb, will be back

We stayed in a superior suite overlooking the ocean for 3 days. The hotel was busy but never noisy and the setting and decor were beautiful. There’s 2 pools and the heated pool was very quiet with gorgeous sweeping views across the sea. Enjoyed evening drinks at the bar and dinner was delicious each evening. Felt very safe as there was lots of security outside the hotel. The small town was at the top of the street up a steepish hill but we preferred to stay at the hotel as there wasn’t too much worth seeing in the town.

Exceptional staff, delivering an extraordinary product. We will definitely be back. The location is also absolutely out of this world. The range of activities in close proximity are also well worth doing!

Fantastic view

We weren’t in the main building and had to cross over the road. The room was smaller than the pictures. The first room we were given smelt of sewage and we had to change. The travel booking lady couldn’t make a booking with the plett game reserve and we had to book online ourselves.

It’s hard to recommend this hotel more. Probably in the top 5 we have stayed in around the world. Such a destination hotel, beautifully themed and decorated, great bar, fabulous service. The room was exceptional. We couldn’t have loved this place more. Incredible views.

There is nothing not to like, this is the best life has to offer.

Our room was absolutely stunning and was so comfortable, breakfast was delicious with a mixture of continental and a la carte, lovely swimming pool and incredible staff. We arrived unwell and the kitchen accommodated our off menu order. Not to mention the view over Lookout Beach - just wow!

Very minor point but housekeeping didnt replace used items in the bathroom regularly (cotton pads etc)

The Plettenburg is a 5 star hotel on Plettenburg Bay. Lookout Beach which is a wide beautiful clean beach with crystal clear water is a 5 min walk away. The hotel is on a cliff and has great view of the beaches. Service is amazing. Everyone has a smile on their face and is very friendly and polite. Breakfast is delicious with a nice buffet and with free sparkling wine and a Bloody Mary bar. The hot breakfast had a lot of choices. The hotel is beautifully decorated with a coastal theme. We had a second floor suite overlooking the ocean. It was heavenly just listening to the waves from our room. The mini bar is free and the hotel also gave us a nice bottle of wine. This is the best place to stay in Plettenburg Bay.

I spent a few hours in the hotel after swimming with seals to have a facial and a light lunch. Not only the hotel had the most spectacular view, it was beautifully decorated and had the kindest staff. My facial with Kadeesha was so uniquely relaxing that I will take my reluctant husband to have at least a try at his stiff old neck. Her hands are blessed. Thank you Kadeesha!

Not only is this hotel situated in the most incredible spot overlooking the sea and the mountains but its 7 star service stands out amongst the other similarly rated hotels in the world. Staff that were the friendliest I’ve come across in my travels. Nothing was too much trouble and they all had a smile at all times. Food was so exceptional in the restaurant it made venturing out totally unnecessary and the rooms were not only perfect but perfectly harmonised with their surroundings. Cannot wait to go back.

I've travelled across South Africa for last two weeks staying only in 5 or 4 stars hotels. Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Franschhoek, Stellenbosch. All the hotels on the way granted a safe, distant place for smokers. Not The Plettenberg Hotel! I have to smoke on the street. First time in my life. Konrad

We decided to book the Plettenberg after booking the Marine in Hermanus. We stayed 4 nights and the room was nice but for a suite, a little smaller than we had envisaged. At the Marine in Hermanus (sister hotel) the double room was as big and quite a bit cheaper. Hence the score on "value" vs the ratings for other items. It is, though, a beautiful hotel.

We stayed for 7 nights in Jan 2025 and had a wonderful stay. We came back this January for another 7 nights as we have friends in Plettenberg Bay that we wanted to meet up with. This is a truly amazing hotel. There is a real quality feel about everything the hotel offers. We rarely eat in our hotel but Amelia’s restaurant offers fantastic food so eating in is a real pleasure. Book early to avoid disappointment. You won’t be sorry.

Amazing location (“wow” views), spotless facilities with a beautiful and inviting design, friendly and always smiling staff, delicious breakfast and a perfect nights of sleep (silence and perfect blackouts). Can you want more? The perfect definition of quiet luxury.
