Noisy construction from early morning

Being immersed in nature. A quiet and tranquil place to slow down and rest.

Clean spacious room. The food was up to standard, considering that we were also accommodated despite having arrived very late from the wedding celebration we attended, almost outside the staff working hours.

It was a bit cold on the night and the blanket provided to us did not fit the profile of the establishment. Hope they do better in this area going forward.

Although the hotel restaurant is under renovation, as well as one of the restaurants at the farm, what was available served a lovely meal at lunch and dinner with excellent service, and of course the breakfast at the same venue was world class.

We weren't able to find a way to enjoy the lake due to all the fenced off areas.

BEFORE YOU BOOK: CHECK IF THIS PLACE IS STILL A CONSTRUCTION SITE We visited the website, thought the property looked beautiful, and booked what we hoped would be a relaxing weekend away in the country. Unfortunately, what we arrived to felt more like a construction site than a peaceful country escape. From our first day, the drilling and construction noise was so loud that we couldn’t even open our doors and enjoy the view. There were workers constantly moving around directly in front of our windows and doors, and any sense of privacy or tranquillity was completely lost. What made it more frustrating was the lack of response from management. We raised our concerns with reception and were told the matter would be escalated. We never heard another word. We also followed up by email and received no response. It’s a real pity because this is a beautiful property with loads of potential, and we can absolutely see the vision for what it could become. But guests paying full rates should be made aware if significant construction is taking place during their stay. My advice before booking is simple: phone the hotel and specifically ask whether construction is still underway and whether it will affect your room. If it is, I would personally wait until it’s finished. We came for a relaxing country weekend and instead spent it listening to drilling and construction. For a property with this much potential, we expected considerably better communication and service.

We had a 1 night stay between flights. Room was great - lots of space & a lovely bathroom. Unfortunately there is so much work going on at the hotel it was impossible to get away from the noise. We had to use the restaurant on the farm for dinner & breakfast. It was an easy walk but the buffet at both meals did not provide much choice. Once the work is completed I’m sure it will be a great hotel but not at present.

The renovations noise but I understood

Revamped I like it! It’s fresh, clean, nice size and earthy colour interior.

No drinks at the fridge, or fruits. It would have made the room feel warm and a homely as the interior are really nice.

The room was a wonderful size and i felt very cared for by all staff members. The spa facilities were lovely and i enjoyed a massage.

Room service was a little slow on occasions.

It’s honestly difficult to find the words to describe how beautiful this villa is. From the spacious layout and comfortable beds to the privacy, fully equipped DStv, bookshelf, and heated private pool, everything about the property exceeded expectations. Every detail contributes to a luxurious and relaxing stay. The food at the Elephant Point Hotel restaurant is genuinely very good. Unfortunately, the dining experience is let down by the way it is managed. The restaurant appears overly focused on maximizing revenue from the limited number of guests, often pushing set-menu options without offering customers much choice. On one occasion, we ended up spending R1,500 on breakfast because only a set menu was available. There also seems to be a lack of clear communication between management and staff. Policies and arrangements appeared to change unexpectedly, and waiters were often unaware of these changes, resulting in unnecessary inconvenience for guests. That said, I would absolutely recommend Tintswalo 17, especially if you have the option of booking a private chef. The villa itself is exceptional and delivers an unforgettable experience. It's just a shame that the restaurant's poor communication and unprofessional handling of customer interactions detract from what would otherwise be a flawless stay.

the in room coffee option was poor.

totally enjoyed morning and evening runs around the lake. Offered good reprieve from the cold. Breakfast selection was also rich and had a healthy selection of meats.

The weather... and being close to the highway, one could at times hear traffic noises from the busy motorway close by.

Beautiful grounds, and the bedrooms are large and very well decorated with a huge, comfortable bed. An iron and ironing board in our room was helpful. We dined in both evenings and the filet steak on the bone was exceptional. The pool was quiet - we were the only ones to enjoy the sun beds and hotel provided towels. Staff were all very welcoming. A couple or so whinges from me which if sorted would lead me to give a 5 star rating. The lighting in the dining room could do with being dimmed a little as it was very bright, with LED ceiling lights. Not a great ambience as a result. The service at the bar was very slow if there were more than a couple of people to be served.

We had booked a luxury suite but it was difficult to get into because the door fitted badly and we almost had to kick it to open it. The dividing door between the lounge area and the bedroom also fitted badly and was difficult to open and close. The wardrobes were also of poor quality and didn’t fit very well. It was all very clean and the bathroom was spacious with a bath and a very good shower. We ate in the restaurant which has a buffet and a la carte. When we arrived the buffet was already laid out but no one was using it. We had the a la carte menu and it was at least another hour before anyone went to the buffet by which time everything must have been dried up. When we came to sign the bill to our room we were told that because our credit card hadn’t been pre approved on check in we must go to reception first. I said I would pay on check out and went to my room. I was in bed and almost asleep when reception rang saying my credit card hadn’t been pre approved and I needed to go and sort it out. I ignored them and paid on check out.

I was surprised that breakfast was not included in the room rate.

The room was lovely, but just a bit dark. Very comfortable though.
