Beautiful hotel, impeccable service/staff, beautiful rooms, great food. Outdoor pool could do with a refresh (missing tiles, discolouration)
Very attentive staff Due to the hotel being a listed building there is no lift and having a room on tte 3rd floor not ideal when you have heavy cases A negative is as there is a lot of material decoration dust is a problem opening curtains in the morning you could see dust in the air.excellant breakfast The outside of the building looks great with a marvellous setting.car parking is sometimes a problem depending on how busy the hotel is
Fabulous location. Amazing house. Great cocktail bar and a superb full English breakfast. Loved my room. #17
The hot tub room was great, very comfortable, modern facilities, the hot tub itself was fun, and we could wander down from the patio to the outdoor pool. The staff were always keen to oblige. Everything table service in the bar, there are a couple of nice lounges and outdoor seating. All staff helpful and very friendly. Food in the restaurant was very good quality. Some of it is grown on site. Breakfast excellent, both continental and hot options. Good walking in the area, including right from the hotel grounds.
This hotel is simply wonderful. The staff is charming and efficient. The restaurant and food superb. The room luxurious. The surrounding gardens and landscape beautiful. One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and I’ve stayed in hundreds. Expensive, yes, but worth every penny.
Setting
A relaxing but all too brief stay just outside Warminster. Staff all very friendly and accommodating in the restaurant and spa. thank you
Had a fabulous time here . Really enjoyed the spa and pool. Lovely hotel with some fun quirky decor & friendly staff. Breakfast was lovely and Dinner was delicious although on the pricey side! Would definitely recommend & return.
You need a shop to sell the toiletries available for guests as well as local beers and ciders and cakes and biscuits. And perhaps links to local artists; prints make good souvenirs.
Great place is you want to relax and be quiet
One of the very best hotels I’ve stayed in . Actually probably the best hotel in England I have stayed in, I have travelled a lot. Staff were all outstanding, no negatives at all. Will go back.
Me and my partner stayed at this hotel for night during the Easter break and we found it amazing from hotel cleanliness to the overall decor of the venue. We booked a junior suite but have to say the picture shows double bathtub but there was only one bathtub in the bathroom so didn’t have the beautiful greenery view out the window. The shower facilities were brilliant and the toiletries were really nice. Fresh bath towels and the lot. The bed was super comfy and the pillows were just plump and nice and felt resting on clouds. The sofa chairs were large and very comfortable and there was a Dyson hair dryer that my partner enjoyed. Just enough wardrobe space for two with a fridge that had some water and milk for the free tea. The dinner at the restaurant for us was a let down as we only got the vegetarian menu, the pasta was tasteless but the salmon was tasty. There should be more vegetarian options as little tip for next time. However, the normal menu did look great and so those who are able to eat the meat it maybe nice. They did give fresh orange juice aswell which was delicious. The breakfast menu was fantastic and would highly recommend. The Spa amenities are brilliant so be sure to make use of them. Overall I would highly recommend this place to others and would stay again.
Excellent
Stayed in one of the family rooms in the separate building - a bunk bed downstairs and queen upstairs with en-suite. Room was clean, well-appointed and worked well to get the kids to sleep allowing adults to relax upstairs. Room service menu and quality of food were excellent. Spa and internal and external pool were great, but strict kids hours in the internal pool meant we actually had to swim/play in sub zero temperatures - which was not ideal and quite rude. Hotel is close to Longleat, and is a high class local retreat.
Excellent hotel with excellent facilities. Perfect for couples or families. We stayed as a family and absolutely loved it! Recently refurbished, with designer interiors and a good atmosphere. Great pool and spa area. Only downside was restaurant staff seemed a little uninterested/ unhelpful. Reception staff were great, grounds were immaculate and spacious and food was really good. Breakfast was especially good. Would return!
Over night stay after visiting Longleat .Great room, very comfortable bed. Friendly & helpful staff & good food. Would visit again
The attention to detail at this hotel was amazing, made you feel very special. Fab you could stay in a luxurious hotel room with a dog, great private jacuzzi and the grounds were stunning. Our dog loved your dog agility course and our children had fun on the pumpkin hunt. We will def be back, definitely a special hotel - thoroughly recommend.
Our stay at Bishopstrow Hotel was delightful! Dinner was delicious, and we loved the flavors and presentation. The junior suite was spacious and comfortable, though it could use a bit more natural light. The pool and jacuzzi were a fantastic addition to our stay, making it easy to relax. We also enjoyed the beautiful hikes around the hotel, which gave us a chance to explore the lovely surroundings. A highlight was the fresh eggs and milk we got nearby—they were simply fantastic. All in all, a wonderful stay with a great mix of comfort, relaxation, and nature!
.
Fabulous hotel with a friendly spa facility integrated into the hotel's offer. Great to have an outdoor pool and plenty of spaces inside and outside to enjoy. The manor itself is grand and luxurious. The Garden Grill served an excellent dinner with good wines available and staff couldn't be more helpful. Only down side was there was no hot water during one afternoon - but the hotel gave me a £50 discount off the bill as compensation which was unexpected and appreciated.
Stayed in a cosy room for 2 nights, spacious & comfy had enough storage etc. there are no modern usb sockets. Staff all friendly & helpful; breakfast waiter service & very good quality. Grounds are extensive, we walked in the kitchen garden. Parking was easy outside. The spa facilities need an upgrade as seem a bit past their best (we did use the pool & jacuzzi indoors).
Lovely hotel, great staff, gorgeous individually decorated room, and amazing pools/ spa! My only issue was that i have coeliac disease and got contaminated by eating fries at lunch as although the menu said they were gluten free, they apparently didnt have a seperate fryer i found out in retrospect...so i felt awful all afternoon.
Lovely relaxing time enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub in the evening and the breakfast was delicious with a great selection.
Lovely relaxing time enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub in the evening and the breakfast was delicious with a great selection
Great hotel with amazing surroundings and excellent customer service. The outdoor and indoor swimming pool were great and very relaxing environment even with our kid. The restaurant evening food and breakfast were excellent. The Roomy room was very spacious and comfortable. Will definitely be visiting again.
We had a lovely stay. The staff were all really friendly. The room itself was quite warm, but we had been provided with a standing fan, which made a huge difference. The little things, like having a daily news sheet put under the door, and having a mini fridge with water and fresh milk every day, made the stay very special. The spa and pools were lovely. We did not have dinner in the restaurant, but the breakfast each morning was exceptional. Overall, a wonderful stay in a truly beautiful hotel.
The luxury suite was absolutely stunning (outside bath was the highlight for me) the attention to detail is outstanding.. the little extras you get goes above expectations. As soon as we arrived staff were very welcoming and friendly. And the food in the restaurant is up there with some of the best meals we have ever had. Our only regret is that we didn’t book to stay longer! We have stayed in many luxury hotels and this is by far the best I have ever been to!
The hotel was family oriented and very friendly and relaxed.
We stayed here for a special occasion, but we did not feel that it was made particularly special. The room was lovely at first glance (room 25) but it was extremely and uncomfortably hot. There was a fan provided, but given the price paid for the room I don’t think this is a very appropriate solution. We had a very long day and wanted to chill in the room, order room service and watch a film. But it was just too hot to feel comfortable. Our sleep was awful. The pool was fine, but very run down. Breakfast was also just fine. For £400 a night I would expect a lot more. Very disappointing.
Can’t fault it
Such a wonderful stay. The staff were very friendly and attentive, couldn’t do enough for us. The room was beautiful, the in bathroom stream room was a fantastic addition.
This was a dog friendly weekend stay to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Started with being shown to our room, or I should say suite which was excellent for us and our little dog. We had our own access to outdoor space although our patio area was the only one not linked to the main pathway in the enclosed courtyard. Our stay began with afternoon tea upon arrival which was scrumptious, I can see why non guests delight in it. The following morning began with the hearty Bish Bash Bosh breakfast which set us up for a lovely walk taking in all the grounds of the hotel and surrounding area of Bishopstrow. I then headed to the spa whilst hubby and our fur baby relaxed watching rugby. Our evening was completed with a fabulous meal served in one of the few lounges. It was hard to find fault with anything, staff were very attentive with nothing being too much trouble. Yes, there is building work taking place but this didn’t distract from our visit. If back in the area we will definitely revisit.
Amazing hotel with very friendly helpful staff. Amazing food. Dog friendly. A pleasure to stay here.
Loved our stay here, wonderful staff, delicious food, lovely room - a brilliantly dog friendly stay!
Really nice stay. Feels like a hotel on the up.
Lovely location, setting and friendly staff
There is absolutely nothing I can fault. This venue was 1st class. Accommodation, the spa and dining options were fantastic Staff couldn't honestly not do enough and every single member we came across made us so welcome. We will be returning soon
Lovely country house hotel. Very friendly staff, great food and nice pools and Hot tub. Lots of grounds to explore. We had a great stay here.
Lovely location and very quiet, so wonderfully relaxing. Great food.
Great staff and location. Be aware of service charge for restaurant dining. Breakfast was excellent
The service here was impeccable and really friendly - the grounds well maintained and beautiful, spa areas clean and Breakfast superb. It wasn't our first time staying here and wont be the last.
A luxurious stay
Enjoyable stay. Very suitable as a centre for touring. Room accommodation excellent but final flight of stairs were a bit of a trial for those with knee problems. Superb breakfast meals, set you up for the day.
Reception was very kind and all the staffs are also very kind.
The hotel was beautiful and the staff were amazing. Thank you!
Perfect stay, lovely pool and spa area. Great staff and food was delicious
Excellent food. Beautiful grounds. Service was excellent throughout our stay.
All the Staff were very welcoming and helpful too. Room was lovely-weather was nice enough to sit outside to have Lunch
One of the best spa hotel I have stayed in the UK. Hotel staff were all friendly and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay.
Was a lovely hotel and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Best breakfast I've had in a hotel.
What a jewel of a spot! The hotel and grounds are peaceful are gorgeous. Super friendly and helpful staff. Dinner was great and excellent service. Thanks to all at Bishopstrow House!
Stayed here as a stopover on the way home from London. It's a beautifully appointed hotel, so much so that I don't think we noticed so much as a worn carpet or a patch of grubby paintwork. Excellent service from everyone we spoke to. Had a very tasty meal in the lounge bar. Lovely jacuzzi. Room spotless, and very comfortable. We'll happily go back.
A very pleasant stay at this hotel. All of the staff were eager to ensure we had a good stay and nothing was too much trouble. Room was a good size and beds very comfortable. Pools, indoor and outdoor were of a good size plus indoor and outdoor Jacuzzis. Reasonable size steam room and sauna. No complaints at all but a few observations. The stairs from the loft area to the first floor are steep and quite narrow. Lighting was not good and together with a dark carpet made it quite difficult to see the stair treads. There was a good size wet shower area in our room plus a bath. When hair conditioner was used in the shower area the floor tiles became quite slippery. Consideration might be given to providing some kind of grab handle. Dinner in the restaurant was very good especially the lamb shoulder with a delicious sauce. We would have eaten there every night but for the quite restrictive items on the menu. Whilst I understand the need to avoid food wastage with only a fish course and soup changing each day, we felt the menu was quite repetitive. The number of main course items could stay the same with perhaps a bigger rotation of items on offer. overall, we really enjoyed thios break.
Great overnight stay. Good food, nice people and a lovely room
Everything was perfect. Hotel staff and spa staff very professional, helpful and eager to please. Will be back for sure!
We spent a night at the The Bishopstrow Hotel & Spa which we thoroughly enjoyed. Our room/suite in the Courtyard was lovely, spacious and with its own small garden and private hot-tub. The standard of décor was excellent, and the room and bathroom very clean and well maintained. A few quirks worth noting; no in-room safe or minibar; and no air-conditioning, although a fan was provided (we stayed in the hottest August in the UK on record and didn’t need to use the fan so not sure the lack of air-conditioning is a major issue). The hotel is an old country house so lots of interesting features and rooms. The Spa is part of the hotel and worth a mention. There is a very well-equipped gym – best equipment I’ve seen in any hotel – and heated indoor and outdoor pools, and hot-tub. The grounds are fine, without being spectacular and there are plenty of loungers if the weather is good and you want to sunbathe. There are also a steam room and sauna, and one of the most epic shower rooms I’ve come across – loved the ‘tropical storm’ shower setting. There is a full range of treatments and my partner had a very good massage. We ate in the restaurant after cocktails on the terrace. The food was good although I’d not rate it as ‘haute-cuisine’ dining. The staff were very helpful. All-in-all we had a great time and it is a good place for a relaxing short break, especially given its proximity to Longleat and Stourhead.
Booked a suite which was sizeable, but decor was a tired, sofa in lounge could do with a good clean and plastic milk is simply not a good thing at anytime. Looking on to the delivery area which means lorries park outside your window from early morning, so a long lie in is not on the cards. Lucky it has two pools for an early dip then, unfortunately the Outside Pool area was full of coffee cups from the night before and the pool itself full of leaves. With the number of staff wandering around from early morning you would expect the pool to be clean. Can’t fault the food in the restaurant or the service, which was as you would expect. The suite we were in certainly needs a step change to justify the £350 night price. Overlooked at the rear and to the front you feel on show unless you pull all the curtains and sit in the dark.
Loft room was unbearably hot. Even with window open all night, the room didn’t fall below 28c. Get a mobile AC unit!! Staff were patchy - some looked like they did not want to be there. Not at the level one would expect of a 4 star hotel.
Nice little hotel with beautiful grounds, it is the most dog friendly hotel we have ever stayed at. We were upgraded to a lovely loft room with a large lawn outside the door. The staff were friendly and helpful. The The spa had a nice sauna and steam room area, we liked the shower with the refreshing mist setting for after the sauna. We had dinner in the restaurant which was pricey but very nice. We look forward to returning.
Fantastic hotel with brilliant facilities and the staff were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. Room very comfortable with everything we might need. Cleaning staff very helpful and pleasant. Overall a great stay and we will be going back again.
Everyone who worked there was so friendly, lovely hotel, would definitely stay again if down in that area
Really enjoyed our short stay
Great hotel and surroundings. Staff very professional and went out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Ideal location for family break.
Wow what a beautiful hotel, lovely spa with pools family friendly and fantastic food. The staff were helpful and welcoming and the restaurant catered to allergies so my whole family were happy. We will definitely be staying here again. The rooms were spacious and comfortable- our recently refurbished room was delightful with striking decor.
Not the best
Celebrating my birthday. Staff were excellent . Friendly and very accommodating. Had dinner in the dome which was great. Room very comfortable. Heating and lighting good. Did not use spa. Hotel in good position for days out
Service was excellent- staff couldn’t do enough for you. Enjoyed the food
Everything was good They made two mistakes on final bill Which i had to point out to them did not like that
A beautiful hotel in lovely grounds, close to Longleat. We absolutely loved our stay here, The Oval Room is stunning
Beautiful hotel, food was delicious and the bed was really comfortable. Had a lovely walk round the grounds as well which was delightful
Very helpful staff. Child friendly. They put a wigwam up in the room with some toys for my daughter.
Everything was to perfection. Will definitely choose to stay again.
Great stay
Absolutely wonderful we really enjoy staying at the Bishopstrow it is our favourite hotel getaway.
Lovely place to stay in beautiful countryside.
Very welcoming and helpful staff. Beautiful hotel and excellent facilities. We loved the indoor and outdoor pools. Food and restaurant service was also excellent. Sadly, we only stayed for one night. It was very relaxing and we will definitely return.
Hotel room was dirty, restaurant was dirty, milk bottle/jugs at breakfast had bits stuck to the inside of the bottle. Room was filthy, hand smears all down the walls, dust everywhere so thick that it blocked the light on the light fitting. Black mold and dust on the windows. The fan looked like it had never been cleaned. The bed sheets were clean😀 but it looked like nothing else was ever cleaned. The bannisters were filthy, cob webs holding dust in many corners.. We tried to eat a meal but it took 1 hour to arrive, they got the drinks order wrong (that took 30mins) when the beef roast dinner came it was so tough I couldn’t even cut it with a steak knife. Absolutely horrendous. Spa area was fun for the kids. Needs a good clean though.
Lovely stay at the spa. Pool and spa facilities are nice. Restaurant was very good, staff wonderfully attentive and kind.
Hazel and Jonathan great hosts at Bishopstrow Hotel Service and location excellent
We booked for one night based on the look of hotel and the fact that it had a pool where children were allowed at set times - our son had a fantastic time swimming and the staff in the hotel were all super lovely and friendly. They decorations for chritsmas were just beautiful. We had a lovely room and breakfast the next morning was fab! Would return for sure
Lovely place to go with family and dog. Staff very accommodating, good food and rooms spacious and well set out. Pools are great for the kids and can imagine it’s an even better place to come in the summer with the outdoor pool. We’ll definitely be back, and recommend to others!
A lovely hotel, super friendly staff, lovely roaring open fires. Food was great, a very enjoyable experience
Lovely hotel and staff were great, stayed here with my husband and 9 year old son who loved the swimming pool. Would definitely come again.
The hotel is set in pleasant Wiltshire countryside, just outside Warminster. The facilities are very good and comfortable, and the food and the level of service excellent. For those who would normally expect lifts, accommodation is available at ground-floor level. We were helped with our luggage to and from our room by obliging and willing staff. The lighting inthe room was rather meagre, and occasionally table service was a little slow, but we couldn't speak too highly of the staff in terms of willingness and pleasantness.
Beautiful place, wonderful service and food but would have liked to have had a better view as up at the top of the hotel and the windows were very small.
Amazing outdoor and indoor pool. Very helpful staff - very accommodating. Lovely grounds Rooms in old building a little limited (esp bathroom). I think the cottage rooms are much better?
As always a fabulous stay here. All of the staff are welcoming and good at what they do. You feel really looked after when you stay here. Outdoor pool was warm and comfy sun beds outside.
Hotel was lovely, We visited for our anniversary. Was disappointed children were allowed in the pool/spa area, Not quite the luxury spa hotel we were expecting. You wouldn't normally have screaming children jumping in the pool whilst trying to relax.
This hotel is not something I have ever experienced before. The organisation is non existent. It is gung ho. We had booked for a week and I wished promptly I had booked elsewhere. When we arrived in the evening, the bedroom had not been prepared. We had to request on multiple occasions from management to provide the basics such as a sufficient number of towels, bedding and toiletries. You are asked if you would like a paper, without any mention you will be charged. We felt the squeeze in the suite provided and it was only after repeated requests were we finally moved. The beds are extremely uncomfortable and the pull out beds dangerous, with springs sticking out. The cleaners do not clean the rooms well. Waiting staff are polite but the management seem to have an attitude. The rooms are dire, decor from a period from the 70's. Staff do not follow Covid19 procedures and do not wear masks. It is the patrons who are protecting the staff. Getting your breakfast takes an age, and this is down to organisation, not an issue with waiting staff, who are definitely overworked. We waited up to 1 hour. There is no information provided to you upon check in concerning use of the facilities. Instead the constant repeated excuse 'You should have received this in your confirmation'. Why not provide this in your bedroom? This is most certainly not a 4 star, 3 star at best. Ridiculously overpriced and a huge disappointment for a break all of us were so excited about.
I first went to Bishopstrow 15 years ago and it was incredible. Today it is a very different experience.
Overall good stay but expected more for the price. Restaurant menu was average and quality was ‘fine’ but there’s definitely opportunity to improve further and to make more interesting. The outdoor pool also needs a refurb and looked grubby and tired. COVID-wise the staff could have been better / more attentive serving in lounge areas and cleaning surfaces inside after guests had left a space. Outside the staff were cleaning the tops of the tables but not the sides where people would also be touching.
Brilliant stay and got an amazing upgrade. Treated us well and spa was good
Great weekend away. Was great the team allowed dogs. Overall great but for price there are a few areas of wear and tear in our room you would not expect. Particularly in the bathroom. Biggest challenge was bed was two singles and sagged in middle. That being said breakfast and spa all great.
The staff were very friendly and the food was amazing
Wonderful stay in a beautiful house, room was perfect for what we needed as a family Of four and staff were on hand to help.
beautiful building and facilities and easy to navigate
Received a free upgrade! Excellent service and facilities!
Didn’t really get to see the main building - was an outdoor walk away. We were put in a room above the spa
Tv in room was not working when i asked bout it gave me excuses not results
We stayed here for 2 nights and had a really lovely time! The grounds and hotel are beautiful, the service and breakfast were fantastic, and the spa facilities were great. My only criticism is that the bathroom wasn’t kept the best and the water from the shower came out as a trickle which was disappointing. Overall, a lovely stay!
