Lugar tranquilo y acogedor, frente a una hermosa playa, el agua de la alberca muy agradable, excelente atención del personal
Good
Great staff, location etc. I’ve been coming here for 30 years.
Was a nice hotel other the bathroom light being out for half my stay
Beautiful beach front property with activities within walking distance. Boating, snorkeling, fishing, restaurants and bars are all right outside the hotel. Great experience!
It’s right on the beach! Great property, service was good.
Nice. Quit good time
Friendly staff and nice beach!
Love it!! I will be back! Restaurant food is great. Staff is fabulous. Rooms are clean and nice. I wish there was a small fridge. I will certainly return
Nice place
Nice place right on the beach. Hard to get a chair due to people putting their towels on them all night.
Loved that it is a smaller hotel right on the beach. The hotel room is a little worn.
I love this villa I have been there several times already, is quiet, friendly staff and very very clean. The beach is calm and steps away from villa. This last time we check in after 3, only 1 out of 3 rooms were available, we got the keys about 2 hrs later. I understand this may have been an isolated situation, I am planning to go back. Great place to stay
I love it!
Villa Mexicanas was perfect for my husband and myself. We stayed in the Garden Area which has 2 smaller pools available to use besides using the beach pool. The service people were super and prompt. There is no store on site but a small grocery is very close by as well as a number of restaurants. The beach is clean and the lounge chairs comfortable.
Based on the price, I thought this hotel was too good to be true. Don't believe it. The location is perfect, with the beach right out your door. The grounds are clean and well-kept. They provide beach towels (make sure you hang on to them to return at the end of your stay), and water coolers are throughout the property. Multiple restaurants are within walking distance. I highly recommend this restaurant and hope to be back!
The hotel is in an excellent location right on Playa Ropa and walking distance to town. There is a restaurant/bar connected to the hotel directly on the beach. Beach chairs are plentiful and towels were provided by the hotel. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.
Small things like the bathroom door didn't close. The screen door to the patio was off track. A/C was across from one bed. Billing was confusing broken into two parts and unclear if it included breakfast.
we had a fan next to our room that vibrated late at night and they would not move us without trying to bilk us for more no
It is an old hotel, so for what it is, it’s not bad. Very good area. Very safe. Staff was great and friendly. If it was a little cheaper it would’ve been 5 stars. I just think the hotel needs an update. But the beaches are amazing. No complaints. People around the area are also very friendly.
A gem of a hotel, right on the beach on the beautiful Playa la Ropa. Many dining options close by and easy to get into old town if you are looking for something a little different.
You can’t beat Villa Mexicana’s location- steps to the beach-easy walking to a variety of on beach restaurants too. The staff is professional, helpful and extremely personable! Our 7th visit!
Property was very nice! Restaurant included 2 story on the beach The entire staff were all so friendly
no fridges in the room
Excellent location on the beach. Very good restaurant attached to hotel. Property is dated but was clean and comfortable. Would stay again.
Great hotel but only had an inside room. I would prefer a room with king bed with ocean view.
Return customers. Love the beach access.
We always come back to this same place. Great value and location. Staff are friendly and accommodating always. Guests are also a lot of fun.
The service of the front staff, especially Ruben, was genuine in welcome-ness, willingness to assist in request, and effective in follow throughs. The traditional, non-cookie cutter architecture of hotel was esthetically a plus from corporate standardizing elsewhere. Fronting La Ropa beach is a priority asset.
Privacy on an open beach, very well kept, Enjoyed our stay immensely Will definitely come back
Great location and staff
We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Villa Mexicana and especially La Ropa! This hotel is one of the original hotels on this beach with a great pool, restaurant and the location is ideal. The staff (housekeeping, restaurant and front desk) were very friendly and accommodating. We will be back for sure!
The beach! So conveniently located.
No mini fridge, the AC was spotty
Right on the beach! Clean room & linens. Hotel pool is nice, very busy & lots of lounge chairs to choose from, but they do get full. Hotel is older but in good repair. Noisy a/c compressors outside that rumble a bit in the room, but they work just fine. Suggest earplugs to sleep soundly. Staff is pleasant, food just ok, lots of other dining options nearby. Nice sunsets!
Friendly staff
Had a wonderful experience. Your staff was great will definitely come back and recommend to friends.
Food is good but it’s could be great !!
Excellent location, excellent restaurant, great staff, very clean. Room small with not enough storage. TV remote didn’t work. Room kept very clean and tidy by staff. All in all, a great hotel! We’ll be back!
We were ecstatic to be checked into a lovely beachfront/poolside room that was spotless. We were steps to the beach that we walked several times a day and the lovely pool was refreshing. There was an outdoor shower and footpaths to wash off sand. There was a safe in the room and TV that had US stations so we could relax and watch TV in the evening as most things close at 9:00pm Patys & Triton restaurants are excellent!! There are no fridges in the room so we bought 1/2 bag ice from the bar 2 x a day for 25 Pesos and filled up garbage can to keep our drinks cold we bought off property. There is a little market to the right of entrance to buy beer/ wine etc or you can shop cheaper in town with a 13 Peso Combi ride up the hill or taxi for 100 peso ($7cad) Sorianna or Chedraui grocery stores. Down to the beach to left Friday Saturday has live band to dance from 5-8pm at Rosseys on the beach and great food! El Parata also has music and good food ( coconut shrimp) La Perla and Arenas is good and have entertainment. Take a taxi $350 pesos to Playa Linda ferry and go to Ixtapa Island - Pamelita restaurant at end of beach for the day you get food/drinks loungers and table and chairs for the day. LA Ropa Beach is AMAZING! I would definitely stay at Villa Mexicana again!!! Recommendation for restaurant would be to have taller plastic glasses and drink specials so people spend more money there. Also dim the lights on the large bright crystal chandeliers it is blinding.
Friendly staff
We had gone down to Mexico for a wedding. After the wedding we were going to stay with family and friends for a couple of days at or very near the Villa Mexicana. When we arrived we found that the hotel was overbooked and they offered to put us up in their other hotel, Hotel Irma. They did offer to upgrade us to ocean view (we could see a bit of it from our room), include breakfast, and transport us between the hotels at their expense. The cost between the two hotels (including the upgrades) was pretty much a wash. However, being that far away from our family and friends took all the spontaneity of our short stay there and the inconvenience and time wasted at check-in and travelling between the two hotels left us very bitter. The only reason I didn't give a 1 star rating was because the staff at breakfast were very nice. As a side note, one of the couples we were with did actually get a room at the Villa Mexicana. However, they had arranged for early check-in but were kept waiting at the reception area for 3 hours before they got their room. I understand that sometimes there are unforeseen problems, but the problems we encountered were made by the hotel.
Beautiful property. Not a lot of wait staff around during the day. The water pressure in the shower was not good.
nice place
This was my second stay. I adore this hotel. The restaurant is fabulous. The staff is lovely. I have zero complaints. I can’t wait to return.
Great stay . Great pool location
Pools could have been cleaner. Foot bathes were used by a duck for bathes, yuck.
We are always happy with our experience at Villa Mexicana. It is really a hidden gem which is steps from the best beach in the area, great food nearby and awesome service.
Great stay with Villa Mexicans. Great location. Great service. Great relaxation. Great fun.
Unfortunately lacking accommodation. Requested when booking for a first floor room, provided documentation of the request, and was declined. The ladies at the front desk are service oriented. The man at the front desk is rude, flippant , perhaps should consider moving to non-client facing position.
It is on the beach, there are 3 pools.
We spent 3 nights at Villa Mexicana. The rooms were clean but small. Staff was wonderful until we asked for beach towels at 9 am and there were no beach towels. There were no chaise lounges at 9 am on any of the days, they were all reserved with other people's stuff, even tho people were not on them, because they didn't have enough lounge chairs. 2 hours later a few more people and probably 30 lounges with stuff on them and no people. We had to go down the beach and pay to rent lounges and a umbrella. Staff wouldn't do anything about it. Very disappointed.
We only stayed for one night but everything was excellent and checking in was smooth. Very clean.
They need fridges in each room and free bottle water!
Great location, room was OK. There was no real water pressure in the shower and the shower stall itself was disgusting. It looked like it was never cleaned as you could see the layer of soap residue everywhere. Definitely use your sandals when taking a shower. I most likely will not return to this hotel.
The convenience of being close to beach and the pools was excellent. Staff were friendly. The. Water for drinking was excellent. Restaurant was excellent and especially the fruit and juices were excellent. Lounge chairs were not very comfortable without cushions on them . Noisy bar with loud music on weekend was not good. Prices for rooms are getting expensive for average person, or pensioners.
I liked everything about the property. What I didn’t like is that my room was in front of a restaurant that played loud music on the weekends. The staff at the front desk seemed to lack knowledge of the area and weren’t particularly helpful. So we approached the waiters who spoke English for information. They were extremely helpful and friendly.
Perfect location on the beach.
Wonderful five nights at Villa Mexicana. Very basic but clean, functional and right on the beach at LaRopa. We had a great time and would return.
Very nice place
Close proximity to the beach and stores in the stea
Property was in excellent location .i will definitely return. Property was very well kept
It is important for CPAP users to have at least 2 electrical outlets by the bed, this hotel only has one.
Everything
All good
Has its own swimming pools and beach
Property en room is clean but the rooms have no place to pute you clothes no frige no coffe machine
Rented 4 rooms ac in all the rooms barely blew cold air, tried getting them to fix it but wasn’t any better. One room had roaches, and wasn’t to clean. Front desk charges fees for any little thing. Property is in a great location by a nice beach but I’d rather stay somewhere else next time
Quiet hotel, clean and great service.
Overall good. Not as clean as I would expect. Staff were great and grounds were beautiful.
terrible
Very attentive staff, great service. Food in restaurant was very good. They would also bring you food and drink to your lounge chairs...clean, friendly
The property is on the older side but well maintained. The beach is steps away from Playa Ropa. The only down fall is there is no ice machine on the premises and no refrigerator in the rooms.
Beautiful well maintained property. Tanya at the front desk very helpful and proffessional All maintentance staff friendly. Food in the restaurant good for breakfast, overcooked for supper and more expensive than surrounding places. especially beer and alcohol. Only recommendation would be have a mini fridge in the rooms. And expedia shouldn't promise king size beds with ocean views they have only five on site. .
Staff was beyond great
Paid high to stay.. no coffee maker or fridge . Food drink prices were high & u couldn't drink your own.
Beautiful beach..staff were beyond great!
No coffee maker in the room....no fridge. Even though we paid a high price for our room.
I like the quiet and safe .
Beach was very close and very easy to walk
This place is quiet to relax, having access to the beach is great. The waves are calm and children can have fun and play in the waves. The hotel is an old but acceptable structure. Every night we enjoy the beautiful sunset! The staff was very friendly and helped us in every way possible. Breakfast and whiting were perfect. All the rest of the food is acceptable. WHAT NEEDS TO BE IMPROVED IS TO HAVE MORE VARIETY IN BEER. THEY HAVE ONLY ONE TYPE. THEY ALSO NEED NEW TOWELS, THEY ARE VERY OLD! FOR 2 DAYS OF 3 OF OUR STAY THEY DID NOT HAVE BEACH TOWELS AND THE HOTEL WAS NOT FULL TO ITS CAPACITY. ALSO, IN OUR ROOM THE TOWELS WERE VERY OLD AND STAINED. THESE MEXICAN VILLAS HAVE A VERY EXCELLENT LOCATION. IT JUST NEEDS AN UPDATE SO URGENT! BIG THANKS TO THE NIGHT SECURITY MANAGER! HE IS DOING A GREAT JOB!! WE HOPE FOR THE FUTURE WHEN WE RETURN TO THIS PLACE THEY HAVE DONE THE REMODELING AND THEY HAVE ENOUGH AND NEW TOWELS. WE STILL HAD A GREAT TIME!
The service was good and the staff was responsive. Although the towels were clean they were stained and frayed. They ran out of beach towels. The television remote was old and the television was not working well. The hotel seemed old and out dated . The pools were a lot smaller than they looked in the pictures. We ended purchasing day passes at the hotel next door.
Our original accommodation fell through quite last minute for spring break and we had to scramble to find a place. We chose Hotel Villa Mexicana and we were so glad we did. It has a great location right on the beach. It is walking distance to Las Gatas, and downtown Zihua (we did both with our two children under 5). There is a little Mercado with souvenirs/beach things right next door. The food at the restaurant was delicious and decently priced. All of the staff were courteous and helpful. We had no issue getting beach chairs every day. We upgraded our room to have ocean view/poolside and I recommend it. Worth every Penny (especially with small kids). The rooms are basic, and don’t have a fridge but we had a cooler and made it work just fine. Make sure to check out Loot, and Triton nearby and try the breakfast at the Hyatt next door (for a bit more $$$).
The pool is beautiful, you are on the beach
The perfect location on the beach and the always amazing staff!
Love the location and setting. Easy breakfast in the morning. Beds are too firm for me, but overall, a nice, convenient, comfortable place to stay.
We loved that the hotel was right on the beach. We loved the wait staff in the restaurant. Most everyone staying there had been there before, sometimes had been visiting there for many years, which says a lot about the way the staff treated you - as old friends, as new friends made. We loved it and will be back!
Not the best selection of restaurants or shopping but beach and pools great
Lovely beach access, clean, well maintained, great customer service, and great restaurant.
Courteous staff, gorgeous views, beautiful beaches, wonderful breakfast options and very comfortable rooms
Cozy. Staff very helpful and accommodating. Easy beach access Beautiful beach. Excellent restaurants within walking distance. Can walk to Zihautenajo town for shopping and restaurants.
Great place. We will stay there again for sure!
Villa Mexicana never disappoints! I truly appreciate coming back each year and seeing the same wonderful staff. They are accommodating and friendly and makes our stay all that more enjoyable.
I've stayed here at least 6 times. It's a great vacility.
Loved the access to the beach and how small town it seemed
Right on the beach, wonderful staff lots of friendly repeat folks HOWEVER, the one & only complaint from all who was asked was the pillows need replacing. They are horrendous. Most repeat customers state they go to Sam’s club & but their own. That’s the only gripe.
